Feature Request or another way of setting an Affiliate up or External Affiliate Software

One of the biggest problems with the Affiliate module, is its persistence
Feature Request -
Using Affiliates to market products and services is a huge business, but the BC system only caters for affiliates providing a link to a specific product (or possible the shop) and it only works if they follow that link and buy right there and then.
Even if the customers buys something under the affiliate link, if the customer returns to the shop a second time, without using the link, then any affiliate reference is lost. There is no persistence nor any link stored between the affiliate and customer.
Therefore the affiliate program does not work for any business that may use affiliates but does not use a Shopping cart. For example I am working on a Property site where professionals may refer clients to buy property, and receive a referral/affiliate fee. We need to track which customers are linked to a referrer/affiliate but there is no shop involved, although we would like to put the commission through as a manual order and track commission payments.
Suggestion: When a Customers uses an affiliate link to enter their details (or buy something from a shop for that matter), then the affiliate is stored permanently on the customer’s record, and can be used for subsequent purchases/orders.
This means that if the customer returns to the shop directly and buys something, then the system can use the stored affiliate link to make sure the affiliate gets paid.
Secondly other business can now add an Order Manually for the client, and the affiliate will get paid. This will open up BC to other businesses that use affiliate systems without a shopping cart. Especially useful for the Services industry.
I also think by doing this BC can remove the problem of requiring a seamless gateway.
Another Way?
Any feature request like this may take time to be set up, if it is set up at all.
Can anyone advise if they have managed to get around the problem and how. Thanks

That is correct: SLBL only works on SMTP addresses.
If I understand correctly, the user wants to prune thier Block List by removing addresses that are not actively sending spam.  This is not easy, but it is something that the user can do themselves:
The user can log directly into the Spam Quarantine to see what mail has been stopped on thier behalf recently.  They would then access their SLBL through the Spam Quarntine to see what addresses they have configured for Blocking.  For each address listed, they would Search their Spam Quarntine for emails from that address.  They would then review the content of those emails to determine if they stilll want to block the specific address or not.

  • JDBC & setQueryTimeout - or is there another way to set query timeout?

    I am trying to set query timeout for TimesTen using jdbc library. But it seems like TimesTen jdbc library does not support setQueryTimeOut. Is there a way to set it without having to set it statically in the DNS?
    I tried to set the SqlQueryTimeout in the connection string but it doesn't work either:

    Thanks for replying. I don't know have good knowledge on Cache Connect. I will have to read on that first.
    It seems like TimesTen does not support jdbc setQueryTimeout. Calling this method on TimesTen jdbc library will return false: supportsQueryTimeout().
    I created a test class for testing the SqlQueryTimeout. I set the TTC_Timeout to 400 seconds and SqlQueryTimeOut to 5 seconds. So after 5 seconds it should time out.
    The way I test it is by putting a break point before executing the query, do a route add DBServer to an un-connectible gateway to simulate the network delay/connection problem and then continue after I added the route.
    After executing the query, instead of timing out after 5 second, it will wait for a few minutes before timing out.
    The code for testing the timeout is as follow:

  • Best way to set up partitions on 250GB external drive

    Hi all,
    I've decided to go with an Iomega eGo 250-GB FireWire portable drive to back up my iBook's hard disk (30 GB) plus to store my photos and maybe hold a bootable copy of OS9.
    This is my first time using an external drive, so I don't really know how to go about setting things up.
    What would be the best way to set up the partitions on the external drive?
    1) I know I should create a 30GB partition for the iBook backup, but what about for the remaining volume? Is it best to leave it as a single large 200GB partition, or split it into two 100GB chunks? Other than the clone of my iBook, I'll mainly be storing photos (at the moment no more than around 10-12GB).
    2) I don't yet have a huge iTunes collection, but if I later want to store iTunes music that doesn't fit on my internal drive, is it fine to put it in the same partition as the photos, or would it be preferable to create a separate partition?
    3) If I want to install OS9 on the drive, how much space should I allot to it? Would this enable me to run legacy apps on my iBook?

    The answer to both question is that it's completely up to you. Partitioning or not partitioning won't affect operation significantly.

    The iBook G4 can not boot from OS 9 so you would only be able to run OS 9 in the "classic" environment.

    No

    There are a few tools which promise the ability to change the partitioning without destroying the data on the drive. But you should never do this without making a backup of the data on the drive. Data loss can easily happen and in a big way.

    That is the best format.

  • Feature Request : provide a way to create access policies or identities with matching condition based on the HTTP header's "Referer" field

    I have a use-case I would like to share with you. When a customer configures its WSA with highly restrictive internet access like in the example below, it may trigger some issues :
    1- allow internet access only for URLs defined in whitelist.
    2- block ALL other requests.
    Let's take the following example :
    1- the customer only allow requests to www.siteA.com. siteA.com is the only URL included in its whitelist.
    2- www.siteA.com contains many embedded objects (such as facebook like tags, youtube videos, links to partners sites, ...)
    In this configuration, the end user will be allowed to reach siteA but the page will not be fully displayed. All the embedded objects not directly located on siteA will be missing.
    With WSA, the easiest way I can imagine to solve the issue is to list all the embedded objects present on siteA, get back their URL and also add these URLs to the whitelist. But this solution if of course far to be really convenient since it involves to know exactly how each HTTP page you want to consult is built.
    With other proxies, such as Bluecoat proxies or McAfee Web Gateway proxies for example, I used to solve this kind of issue by using the HTTP referer field (the URL you come from). For example with Bluecoat :
    <Proxy>
        ALLOW request.header.Referer.url.domain=//www.siteA.com/
    => All requested objects from siteA.com will be automatically allowed by the proxy, even if they are not part of my whitelist.
    - Do you have a better suggestion than the one I'm currently using with WSA (adding each sites in whitelist) ?
    - Would it be possible to add the field HTTP referer as a matching condition for Identities and access policies in your next release ?

    As far as I'm aware this functionality is still not available... would be an awesome feature to have, but could also be abused at the same time by a user writing their own "middleware" proxy and setting the referrer header to that allowed site..  could be done in like ~15 lines of perl / python.
    Either way... would still be a cool feature to have.

    BTW… I tried to search for an answer, but the resulting threads showed up without titles. Must be a problems with the forum.

    Since the 3D is handled by an .aip (AI plugin; a compiled C++ bit of software) it's impossible to change the defaults. Yolu could do a feature request. It was probably set to off originally to help speed up the process.

    i like the idea and actually if you want to present us a PER you may reach your AM to do so since as someone mentions not all customers are allowed to do so.
    the idea of having everyone asking for things they think would be useful would be somewhat troublesome because i know for a fact that many people come to us and ask things like "i have a XX system that can do this, how can i do the same with Cisco?"
    in many cases we do not have something near the functionality they want but unfortunately that's the way the product was developed.
    in many cases people would ask for something specific to their business and not for something in general. i've seen some questions on things that many people want like pushing a background image in a batch or how to select how to pick-up a specific call and not in FIFO (which will be in our next release) but i've also been asked questions only once and never heard anyone ask the same never again
    i don't want anyone to take this the wrong way but you need to understand that this is a business, so we're most concerned on what customers want and some guys that can ask for features may not be customers. i could gather all my friends and ask them to post a request even if they were not going to buy anything and just by taking the amount of petitions it wouldn't work. that's why this kind of requests are done thru Account Managers.
    don't get me wrong, i like the idea but making that work thru NetPro would involve as you mention resources to do so, to validate the idea, to count how many support them, see if they could be implemented, etc

    No. Its not possible.
    Alternatively, create another user account in your computer. Install iTunes in that account with the library you wish to sync.

    Others have commented on this too.  It seems to be one of the 'improvements' of the newer version you are supposed to embrace with joy as an exciting new development.  You can send feedback to Apple but realize you may be perceived as standing in the path of  progress.

    Updating from the iphone itself is ONLY available with ios 5 and above..
    You update as always by opening itunes and connect the iphone.  If there is an update available it will prompt you to update.
    Your can ONLY updtae to the latest available software which is ios 6

    With Lion 10.7.1. you where able to drag events from "All Day Events" into the "Reminders" bar to create upcoming reminders.

    Exactly the same question I was about to post!
    Great being able to sync reminders (well overdue) however if I have to re-type a calener envent into reminders it's a waste of time!! 
    Come on Apple!!
    Just need an option for the calender event to add to reminder or the old drag to add to reminder functionality back, Please???

    As I just changed after many years with Premiere Elements to Pro, I certainly find many things just anconversant.
    But there's one thing I really can't take: When I'm trying to render a project, there's a small selection list near the bottom of the "Export Media" window saying "export area". Here I can choose between "complete sequence", "work area", "sequence in/out" and "defined by user". This option jumps always back to "work area"!
    That's at least for me very unconveniant, because in 99+ % of my renderings, I need "complete sequence". Normally the software remembers the last used setting, but not in this case. I can imagine that one can fight about what's the best default setting: I Guess everyone is using Premiere differently. So in my opinion a predefined setting option would solve best for all: Just add one mor setting in the Presets section, maybe in "General" or make a new rubric "Export" or something. Just a place where everyone can predefine which setting for the export media area option he likes.
    No big deal, just one more presettings option!

    I'm trying to use safari to organize my downloads so i have less clutter and know where things are

    Nothing "built in" senses file type and sorts by it that  know of, and I've not heard of any third-party options.
    You can have pretty good control by slight mods to how you download:
    1--Set up a dedicated Downloads folder in Documents if you don't have one. Point all you browsers to that folder for catching downloads.
    from here you have two options:
    2A--always display that folder sorted by "Kind." That put files of similar types together
    2B--within the Downloads folder, create subfolders for different file types. If you do this, instead of clicking files for downloading, right-click them. One of the contextual menu options the right-click will reveal is "Download Linked Files as...." and will force a dialog box from which you can select the subfolder that will hold that file type.
