Feature to disable touch screen when pen is detected is no longer available in windows 7

In N-trig drivers  with windows vista there was an option where one could select the option to disable the touch input when pen in near the screen.  That feature is no longer available when I installed new n-trig drivers in win7.
I use my tablet a lot to take notes. But with dual mode on it detects input where I rest my palm on the screen to write. Every time I have to go and disable touch input completely before I start writing and enable after I finish.
I there any way to enable auto mode with Windows 7 n-trig drivers?
This question was solved.

Thanks for your reply.
I talked about this with HP tech support and they don't know anything about it. I don't even know whether they are qualified enough to provide support. They were just blaming the problems on Microsoft and N-Trig. I knew the problem is with the drivers and I wanted them to let N-Trig know that people like us are waiting to the Auto feature. But instead of considering my complaint they hung up on me not once but twice.

  • How can I disable touch screen for HP Pavillion DV3-2310ea

    Howdy
The touchscreen on this laptop can be annoying - even though I've reduced the sensitivity, living in a cat rescue home is challenging to say the least when a strand of cat fur gets on the screen or when a tail brushes the screen, not to mention a cat sneeze -_-
I've been looking around for solutions and I found one stating unchecking the box in "Pen and Touch" in the control panel - however on this laptop there's no box to uncheck
I can't find any settings to disable touch screen, so would anyone know if there's a driver I can temporaraily disable (I'd like to KEEP the option to enable the touch screen - just to show off to friends )
Thanks for your time - Gypsy
P.S I'm sorry if this topic has already been discussed I've just joined to ask this question

    Hello,
Would like to leave my contibution on this post:
In order to disable the touchscreen, you have to go to control panel, select Tablet PC settings, then select Pen and touch and do what the print screens below show you:
Let me know if this sorted out your question.
    Thanks,
I work for HP! Please remember to provide and if this helped click ON

  • How do I disable touch screen temporarlily in command promt?

I had been Starting a Command prompt, and here's what I have So far
    @echo off
    title YELLOW_BEAR
    mode 166,68
    :BEGIN
    color 6E
    echo ITS ME
    shutdown.exe /r /c "IT'S ME" /t 60
(disabling mouse, touch screen, ect. line would be here)
    goto GOLDEN_BEAR
    :GOLDEN_BEAR
    "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Videos\[FILENAME].mp4"
    TIMEOUT 20
    pause
    goto GOLDEN_BEAR
I have one teeny question- Is there Any way I can add on to this so it can also disable ALL user actions? (touching the screen, typing, mouse pad) BUT, for only temporary purposes so it can be enabled again when restarted? (note line #7, "shutdown.exe
    /r /c "IT'S ME" /t 30)
so it would be like this-
    user clicks on prompt
user sees ITS ME on command prompt window
user is notified windows will shutdown, with comment of IT'S ME
[FILENAME].mp4 (around 20 seconds, note "TIMEOUT 20") would play, user cannot pause because off
             all actions would be disabled
after 20 seconds, [FILENAME].mp4 would play again, in fact 2 more times ,total of three the user.
not being able to do anything], until  it restarts and the
touch screen would be working again
by the way, I run windows RT 8.1 on surface 1

Open it in iTunes and restore your device.

  • Can you lock touch screen when watching videos!??

Can you lock the screen so it doesn't become a touch screen when watching videos!??
Just got new ipod (7th gen) and this driving me crazy that I think I'm going to continue to use my older one unless there is a solution out there. I watch tv shows while commuting and while walking here or there I have to 'palm' the ipod or walk with it at my side, and the problem is that since the touch screen is sooooo sensitive I keep fwding/rewinding/swiping the screen to something else, and then to get back to that part in the video is a pain because unlike the older ipod you can just fwd a few secs, this one jumps minutes because it's so sensitive. PLEASE tell me there's a way to lock it from accidently touching it!

No - there is no such switch on the iPad - the switches control volume, muting, screen rotation, and the home button itself.
You could place it behind a screen of some sort so touching the outer screen won't affect the iPad screen - I've seen ads for 'presentation kiosk' type devices for the iPad that allow this, although I'm not sure how practical they would be in the backseat of a car.

  • Windows 8.1 32bit Autounattend.xml, disabling touch screen functionality

This is quite a strange problem and I do not have the slightest clue why this is happening.
I am trying to make an unattended Windows 8.1 Pro32 bit install for a touch screen PC. I have made an answer file which appears to work correctly (it skips all user interaction during the install). The issue is that when using this Autounattend.xml to install
Windows the device stops responding to touch. The touch function works throughout the install process (so I know the screen is not broken) but once it has completed the install and loads the OS for the first time there is no touch function available.
I have removed the Autounattend file from the disk image and installed the OS manually. Touch function works fine once it has completed without the use of an unattend file, which is why I'm fairly sure it is the xml file causing the issue.
I have been able to make unattend.xml files for Windows 8.1 64bit as we as Windows 7 32 & 64bit but cannot make it work with Windows 8.1 32bit. I have made these .xml files using the Windows System Image Manager, I have made sure I have newest version
    downloaded and installed.
Is this a common issue with Windows 8.1 32bit?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm open to trying anything at this point.

    Hello TwistedDTM,
Based on my knowledge, I can't find out that this Autounattend.xml has configuration to block the touch screen.
I want to confirm if you use the Windows 8.1 x86 image to create the catalog file.

  • The touch screen on my nearly brand new Pavillion lap top running windows 8 no longer works.

The touch screen on my nearly brand new Pavillion lap top running windows 8 no longer works.  Cant use calibration tools as there's no response to touch.  No option in control panal to turn on or off touch capability.  I have no computer background so cant really get to technical.  Is something simple turned on or off located in some mysterious place?  F key or something?   Bad machine?  Thanks for any input.  Sarah

I found the driver at the above link.  I installed the driver, disabled my graphics card and rebooted.  The touchscreen worked.  Then I enabled the graphics card.  So far so good.  Hope I dont have to do this routine too often.
    Good luck with it.

When is Firefox Mobile going to be available for windows phone?

May be there is no possibilities in near future to implement Firefox for windows phone. There are some technical and legal issue for deploying Firefox on windows phone. Moreover Mozilla is spending more energy on it's own mobile operating system which is Firefox OS.

  • Feature that locks touch screen but continues to display video?

Is there an existing feature or application that will lock the touch screen but still display a video? I would like for my daughter to watch a video on my iPhone but I want to disable the touch screen while she is watching it so she won't accidentally turn it off or change any settings (she's only a toddler). I can do this with my iPod nano by playing a video and then locking the iPod (sliding the lock switch on the bottom of the device). Does the iPhone 3G have anything like this?

I 100% agree with you. I have some Sesame street videos on there for my daughter but they don't really work because she is always touching the screen and stopping them. This would be a great feature to have, but unfortunately I don't believe this is possible.

  • Windows Touch Screen Stylus Pen use for Photoshop

I was have Windows touch screen and I want to use a styles pen. However, when I try to use the pen it will not draw, but just move the picture around. How can I fix this? Thank you

[Apologies for the multiple versions, but I also raised this issue in another part of the forum where there's an active Helix discussion, so there's another conversation happening in the thread "When is the Helix release date?", around page 59]
For those experiencing this problem, I'm becoming convinced that it's mostly going to occur in OneNote. Here is a "solution" I'm testing; it's not a proper fix but it works.
OneNote has the ability to automatically detect  whether or not you're using your finger to pan, your pen nib to write, or your pen eraser (if you have one) to erase. It's controlled by a setting under File-Options, Advanced. Look for the Pen settings. You'll see "Automatically switch between inking, selecting, typing and panning." It's checked by default. If you uncheck it, then your eraser won't work anymore, and you have to manually switch between inking, erasing and panning; to make this easy I dropped those icons into my quick access bar.
I think this is a Helix problem, not a OneNote problem. On my Dell Latitude 10 tablet, I do not have this problem. There's something about the Helix sensors and/or drivers that isn't working quite right, so it can't consistently figure out what's up with the pen, and it gets stuck.

  • How do I turn off the tiny Shuffle-sized iPod Nano (v6 with a touch screen) when not using its iOS?

    Hello and happy new year.
I decided to use this used iPod Nano (touch screen) as an eight/8 GB flash disk/storage (FAT32). I can access the files just fine. I can always restore it back to use iOS quickly and easily if needed.
However, it never seems to turn off/sleep. I tried holding down the big button on top right (next to the two volume controls [+ and -]), but it never does anything. Also, it says "OK to disconnect." when disconnected.
So, I restored its iOS v1.2 from an old 15" MacBook Pro (2008; Mac OS X 10.5.8) onto it and can turn off easily. However, I cannot access its drive since it is not a MS FS and Windows XP Pro. SP3 asked me to format. How can I turn it off and still use it as an 8 GB USB flash disk/drive without installing and using iTunes?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hey,
Holding in the play/pause and the menu (select) button will force the iPod into disk mode. This is the stand by mode you are talking about.
To turn your iPod off properly you will want to hold down the play/pause button until the screen goes blank and then turn the hold switch on. This is cause the iPod to go to the Apple screen when it turns back on.
    Hope this helps,
    Ms D.

Pleas help, yesterday when I tried to open an website on my I pad 2 and there was a grey color cover the screen and I can't use touch screen, i still can see the internet is working in the back ground of the screen and the webpage was opend but I just can't make the grey color screen disappear. Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesn't work, reset the iPad. Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Last thing to try is quit the app and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit Safari by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on the Safari icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • HP Stream 7 5701 Tablet - disable touch screen for toddler

I have a toddler who likes to watch iTunes movies on the HP Stream 5701 Tablet but he touches the screen and stops the movie.  Is there a simple and easy way to disable the touch screen and let the movie continue to play?

You don't disable the touch screen persay.. it simply disables buttons except sleep, and the only control on the screen is a box to unlock the screen (The movie is in full screen playback). The unlock button can be as simple as a push button, to something as complex as a gesture. So the kid is free to put his hands all over the screen with little fear of stoping or exiting the movie.

  • Is it possible to disable touch screen function of...

Tomorrow I will buy a Nokia smartphone to my wife and she likes non-touch screen though among the available models I only liked some phones that are of touch and type style.
I was wondering whether it would be possible to turn off the touch screen. I know she would use exclusively the keypad but the availability of the touch screen, especially when touches mistakenly, can cause some problems.

You can also think of touch and type devices like Nokia Asha series nokia 303 etc.....these devices can be operated via either keypad or from screen
while on higher end of segment Nokia E7 is great smartphone with its physical qwerty keyboard

  • Touch screen and pen/stylus stop working - Helix

Note taking with my new Helix is unbelievably frustrating! It's Windows 8 Pro -- fully updated (Windows and Lenovo drivers and apps). I am using Microsoft OneNote 2013. The problem is regular locking up or freezing of one or the other of the touch screen or the pen / stylus. Sometimes the pen still works, but fingers on the touch screen have no effect. Other times the the touch screen works, but not the pen. I'm not 100% certain that it's limited just to OneNote, but that's where it's guaranteed to happen. I can "fix" the problem most of the time by putting the Helix into sleep mode and then waking. Other times I have to shut down and restart. During a two hour session this will happen a dozen times at least. This makes it nearly unusable. Rob

Just got this Helix for a test-drive and I'm already having problems with the stylus/touch.  I can't quite tell why, but after working with computer as a tablet for a while, the touch turns off.  Then, if I pull the stylus out of the pocket 1/2 inch or so, the touch turns back on, then about 30 seconds later it goes off.  Then, if you pop the stylus back into the slot all the way, the touch screen is fine again for several minutes.  Over and over, i'm finding the interplay between touch and stylus to be a bit quirky.  Maybe it's the machine i got or maybe it's a general problem. I have had the exact problem with the touchscreen not working without fiddling with the pen in the socket (put it in, take it out, touch it etc). Do you have the task bar on the left hand side? I've had diffiuclties with the digitizer, can't use the bottom or right of the screen for example.  I'm wondering if still detects that the pen is near it. If I see the problem again I'll be trying the task bar on the right side.  If that doesn't help I have to assume a broken switch in the pen holder / bad digitzer.   Neither of which is good on a 2500 chf machine, especially one with what seems to be a warped tablet or base (still have to measure that).

  • Touch screen doesn't work after Vista Home64-bit upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium on IQ506

Hello, right before I upgraded to Win7, I made sure that the Touchsmart software worked and that the touch screen itself worked. As soon as I performed the upgrade (not the clean upgrade that wipes all your existing data, but rather the upgrade that carries over your applications and files), the touch screen ceased to work.
I didn't panic, thinking that I probably had to run some windows/hp updates, which I did to no avail. I also manually updated ALL the driver/software files found at this link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=4063&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us〈=en&product=3752245
Yup, every single one. As a last resort, I tried some of the HP troubleshooting for touch screens not working. It said to shut down the computer, pull the plug on the computer, hold the power button for 5 seconds, plug the computer back in, and boot it up again. Didn't help at all.
I'm at the end of my rope and there is no additional HP support on this. I'm waiting for a reliable driver update for win7 for this **bleep** touch screen. I'm dead in the water -- I've got a touchscreen computer whose touchscreen doesn't work! Someone else out there must be having this problem! Any leads?

Did you try installing the Touch Driver?
