Federation and Meetings

Quick query.
If 2 companies are federated and a user in CompanyA sends a meeting request to a user in CompanyB via outlook (eg meet.companya.com), would the conferenct take place via the federated edge servers or would CompanyB only connect to CompanyAs edge servers?

Hi,
Agree with BenDonaldson. If the two companies have done the federation each other, when the user in CompanyB join the Lync meeting hosted by the user in CompanyA, the workflow is as following:
Lync will first check if User is enabled for federation, if yes, the Lync check if
Lync is enabled for Federation, if yes, Lync will check if
Open federation is enabled, If yes (or no, but the remote domain is allowed), then The user will join the meeting as a federated user through both two side Edge.

  • Need help in establishing the connection between BO federator and Oracle DB

    Hi Experts,
I am working on BO federator and now I need to establish the connection between BO federator and the oracle db to use this as the source for the federator,
I know we need to download the respective oracle DB connect .jar file from the oracle web site and place it under the drivers section(folder) of the BO Federator.
Now I need to understand what is/are the next steps I need to follow and what are the values for the following parameters which are required during establishing the connectivity while creation of data sources from federator end.
    Host Name:
    Port:
    SID:
    Schema:
Please share the details, any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks with regards,
    Vinay

    Hi,
    Please find below details.
Host Name: Server Name or IP Address (Oracle)
    Port: (oracle Server Port)
SID:SID is a unique name for an Oracle database instance. -> To switch between Oracle databases, users must specify the desired SID <-. The SID is included in the CONNECT DATA parts of the connect descriptors in a TNSNAMES.ORA file
    Schema: no need to enter(Blank)

  • Lync Federation and Push Notification with Lync Trusted model domain

    Hi Team,
One of our customer has the query about office 365 push nofification support.
We have three kinds of federation types:
    Dynamic
    Direct
    Enhanced
    Questions:
Whether all the three are supported by office 365 push notification server or only specific federation type is supported?
    Please advise. Many Thanks.

    Hi,
Base on my understanding, as there is no special DNS requirements to enable federation for push notification. You only need to do the following steps:
Enable federation and public IM connectivity in Lync Server 2013
Create public SIP federated providers in Lync Server 2013
Create hosted SIP federated providers Lync Server 2013

  • Federation and contact details

    Hi,
When I federate between jabber for windows/cups and gmail or another jabber/cups organization no contact details are passed through. Is there an option to pass at least the full name and phone numbers?
    Regards,
    Erik
Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad App

    Hi Erik,
That's correct behaviour as there is no directory integration with INTER-domain federation. The only things thats passed is the users 'JID' which will be in the form of <[email protected]>. Gmail will reflect this in the buddy list as and Jabber will shows the full JID, i.e. <[email protected]>.

  • Lync Federated and VPN to trusted forest

Trying to figure out how to work around this. I have a VPN between two companies. I have added the second company to my DNS as a secondary zone. As soon as I do this lync federation stops working. Obviously this is a DNS issue, but I have no idea how to
work around it. I can't wrap my head around what needs to be done to do this. The only thing that comes to mind is to create a primary zone for their domain and just populate the servers we need manually. Any ideas?

Federated conversations will route everything through the edge server. The edge servers will find each other using the _sipfederationtls._tcp SRV record. With the VPN in place, each edge will still need to be able to resolve that SRV record as well as
the host name inside of it. The host name should still resolve to the external access edge ip. If that all works, see if you can telnet from your edge to port 5061 on their access edge external ip. Also run the debug logger and watch sipstack for potential
    clues.

  • Data Federator and Information Design tool

    Hi,
First, Can Data Federator be a single data source for Information Design Tool?
Second, from performance point of view, using Information Design tool to build multi-sources Universe or building Universe on Data Federator, which way is better?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    let me explain :
in BI 4.0, the Data Federator Query Server engine is now part of the server-side Adaptive Processing Server .
You only invoke this architecture when you select "Multi Source Enabled" -  any other entry point is NOT using the Data Federation Service.
So - if you select SingleSource -  that's not using DF.
However, it is entirely possible to select "Multi Source Enabled" then only use 1 connection in the MSU !!
Having said the above,  Your second question doesn't make sense.
Unless you mean, using the Data Federator middleware driver in BI 4.0 IDT, to connect to an XI 3.1 Data Federator Query Server?   (i.e. consuming the 'old source' in the new enviornment)
This backwards compatibility was delivered to facilitate transition of DF customers, especially since there is no standalone DF product in BI 4.0 (yet)
I trust this is of use to you.
    Regards,
    H

  • OSB Federation and establishing connections

I am currently in a project where we have two OSB that have to communicate. The OSBs are located in different security zones ("internal" and "secure"). All communication on a network level must be initiated from the secure zone to the internal zone. The message flow should be initated from the internal zone to the secure zone. Ideally we should establish a tcp connection from the secure zone to the internal zone, and then use SOAP over HTTP on this pre-established connection. Is this at all possible?
Our best approach now, is to establish a jms-queue in the internal zone and let both OSBs connect to this. All communication between the zone is then done over JMS. This is an approach that would work, but is it the only solution?
Can the t3/t3s protocol be used to achieve our goal? I.e. To have synchronous commincation over a pre-established connection (that is established the in opposite direction of the communication)?
Is there any other approach that might work?

    Check the javadoc for ALSBConfigurationMBean
This has sample code as well.

If I do setup a federation beetween the organizations the meetings connect ok.
    Thanks for help!
    BR, Jouni

    Hi Johan,
Lync client in test has been fully updated.
I Think I found what was causing this. In my tests, I added and removed domains from allowed and blocked domains list, in tenant config.
First after tenant organization has been provisioned the AllowedDomains looks like this:
    Get-CsTenantFederationConfiguration -Tenant 10828ff2-165d-440f-9c00-6ce374ff0c6d
    Identity              : Global
    AllowedDomains        : Microsoft.Rtc.Management.WritableConfig.Settings.Edge.AllowAllKnownDomains
    BlockedDomains        : {}
    AllowFederatedUsers   : True
    AllowPublicUsers      : True
    SharedSipAddressSpace : False
And joining to non-federated meetings works correctly.
After fiddling with the allowed and blocked domains settings (adding and removing domains) settings look like this:
    Identity              : Global
    AllowedDomains        : Microsoft.Rtc.Management.WritableConfig.Settings.Edge.AllowList
    BlockedDomains        : {}
    AllowFederatedUsers   : True
    AllowPublicUsers      : True
    SharedSipAddressSpace : False
When I check what the "AllowList" keeps in, it is empty as it should:
    $tenant = Get-CsTenant | Where-Object {$_.Name -eq "tenantname"}
    $x = Get-CsTenantFederationConfiguration -Tenant $tenant.TenantId
    $x.AllowedDomains
    AllowedDomain : {}
If I set the AllowedDomain backup to original form meeting connections begin to work.
    $all = New-CsEdgeAllowAllKnownDomains
    Set-CsTenantFederationConfiguration -Tenant 10828ff2-165d-440f-9c00-6ce374ff0c6d -AllowedDomains $all
But now im just not very sure how I should setup the federation settings as per tenant/ExternalAccesspolicy/AccessEdgeConfiguration.. hmm..

  • Exchange - iPhone still shows deleted and cancelled appointments / meetings

I have an iPhone set up to correctly sync with Microsoft Exchange, and email and contacts appear to work correctly. The calendar, however, keeps showing appointments and meetings which were deleted, cancelled, or moved in the past. These are typically repeating meetings originally scheduled in Exchange by another person, where I accepted the meeting invite and then the meeting cancellation a while ago.
I am thinking of deleting the entire calendar and starting over, but somehow I'm not sure this will resolve the issue. Any advice?
(I have the iPhone set to sync mail, calendar, and contacts to my company's Exchange server).

Interesting; the turning sync off then back on approach seemed to work. Sort of. I did the following, and it seems to have worked -- for now:
    1. In Microsoft Outlook on my Windows machine, I went and straightened up my schedule, declining any leftover meeting invitations (but not sending a reply) to all the items I wanted off of my schedule.
    2. On my iPhone, went to Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendar, then the Exchange account. Calendars was set to "On" and I switched it off". Tapped on "Stop Syncing", and then I confirmed the calendar was erased from my iPhone.
    3. Went back into Settings for the Exchange account, then switched Calendars back to "On". Made sure I had a WiFi/high speed connection active, since I'm on an original iPhone and re-loading my whole calendar over EDGE didn't seem like a good idea.
Also, not that it makes a difference, I also have my "Mail days to sync" set as far back as it'll go (1 Month).

  • Only Federation: Reverse Proxy required?

    Hi,
We are planning to deploy an Edge for Federation (only Federation) and we are wondering whether Reverse Proxy is actually required or not.
From Setting up reverse proxy servers for Lync Server 2013 we get the features given by the Reverse Proxy. The one that could impact us and makes us doubt is:
"Enabling external users to download meeting content for your meetings"
It says "downloading content" not "joining".
Without Reverse Proxy we're sure we couldn't schedule meetings through Outlook as they would contain a Meet URL that wouldn't be reachable for the federated user. In addition, we suppose that "Meet now" wouldn't work due to the same reason.
But, if I have an IM or A/V conversation with another internal user or a federated user (peer-to-peer) and promote it to conference by inviting a federated user... Would we the three have a conference with IM and A/V? Or won't it be possible because federated
user actually needs Meet URL in order to connect and there wouldn't be a Reverse Proxy?
TechNet just say "downloading content" and Lync 2013 workload posters doesn't show any communication between Lync Federation and Reverse Proxy. That's why we doubt whether it's needed or not.
    Thanks.
    Kind regards.

I have never tested this scenario before and i'm completely basing on the logic that how it works. and based on the
Lync server 2013 protocol Workload Poster, it does seems to use https traffic while on a A\V conference as well as app sharing. But i think you still can have AV conference as long
as you invite people to an ongoing conference.

  • Data Federator connection from universe - commProtocol EBUS error

I am working with a prospect that is attempting to get a universe to communicate with DataFederator via JDBC.  We modified the jdbc.sbo file and added the line
    <Paramter Name="URL format">jdbc:datafederator://$DATASOURCE$;catalog'&quot';$DATABASE$'&quot';;commProtocol=EBUS</Parameter>
(single quotes were added above to preserver contents in quote marks, they are not really in the file)
along with the appropriate classpaths, per the XI3 datafederator release notes.  However when the customer tries to connect via the connection manager in the universe the following error is thrown:
[Data Federator Driver] Invalid identifier for site wrapper in parameter 'commProtocol'. Reason: EBUS
Has anybody seen an error like this, and have any suggestion on how to correct it?
    Thank you.

    Hi Eric,
Can you tell me which version of Data Federator and BOE you are using?
It looks like you tried to configure Data Federator JDBC driver with a commProtocol that is not supported by this version of DF.
Are you using Data Federator XI 3.0 SP1 (12.1.0.0) or later version?
You can check the version of the Data Federator JDBC driver you are using by clicking "Test Connection" in Universe Designer. You will see the driver and database (DF) versions.
Make sure you are using the 12.1.0.0 version or later for both driver and server.

  • Data federator Universe refresh issue

    Hi all,
we are facing the issue refreshing the Universe which is based on Data Federator.
whenver the changes are done in BW Cube i.e adding the dimension or the keyfigure. the dimensionobject  is not appearing in the Universe.even we delete the dimension or a key figure from BW and then refresh the dependent tables in DF . Deploy again the project,it is updating the catalog but when we refresh the Universe it is not refreshing properly
SO data federator and BW are in Sync but when we refresh the Universe it is not in sync
we are using BO XI SP3  and BW 7.01 SP7
I would really appreciate your valuable inputs regarding this issue
    Regards
    Suzane paul

    Hi Amit,
    Thanks for your reply.
Ok. So, Universe on top of Data Federator has limited functionality.
And, other option you mentioned is on report level. I am creating an adhoc universe and I have few objects which will calculate days between 2 dates coming from 2 different tables.
But, how can I achieve this on Data Federator level. I have no function there to find Days Between 2 dates. I see lot of time and date functions but not the one I required. Also, I added a column in the target table and tried to apply the formula there in the default mapping area. But, I see only the selected target table. I need another date column from another table, which is not displayed in the default mapping area.
    How can I achieve this?
    Regards,
    -Peter
