FICO Dissertation Topic

Hello,
I am currently studying BSc Accounting and Finance and I want to got into SAP as a functional FICO consultant.
I was wondering if anyone could help me with ideas for my disseration topics as I want to link SAP ERP to Accounting and Finance.
I am currently looking to do: Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP) and the role they play in business systems integration
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Dissertation topic

Hi all,
I need suggestion from you all experts.
I am doing dissertation as part of my MSc in software development, and I need to select a topic - it has to be analysis or investigation (not a development project) and there has to be a known problem for which no solution exist. If the problem is too big then I can take a subset of it.
As I don't have any commercial experience of SOA or BPEL so I need suggestions from the people who work in the field.

An idea could be that you investigate in which way processes can be prioritized. Currently processes are all equal and are executed depending on J2EE threading and related CPU. sometime you want to give a process primacy, or give the process primacy depending on the content of the payload.
2)
While SOA is based on processes, there is no mechanism like semaphores, as you do normally have in O/S where processes can raise a semaphore. This mechanism could add value to SOA technology.

Modelling Collaborative BPM across Value Chain Evaluation of Approaches

Question: Which approach is easy for modelling Collaborative BPM across value chain A) Centralise, B.) Decentralise, and C) Peer to Peer approach for? What are the pros and cons? What are the other important factors related with each approach?
Explanation of these approaches:
Centralise CBPM: Ownership of Collaborative System is with one Central Organisation and Other Partners Participate in this collaboration through various UI such as portal. Example, Collaboration between the automobile manufacturer and dealer were auto mobile manufacturer provides portal for dealer to place order, manage its customer and handle warranty and recalls.
Decentralise CBPM: In this approach every partner provides communication technology like Web Services for its Business Partner for collaboration. The ownership is decentralise and more flexible.
Peer-to-Peer CBPM: In ideal condition in this approach every Partner should have the same technology which is developed for handling collaborative Business Processes. In this case the same modelling facility is available across the value chain.
I kindly request you to post your views on this topic as this is related with my dissertation topic.

can i call rfc synchronously there after if yes then please let me know logic/reason behind...?

since in first two steps receive and send i am just picking the file and posting it some other place so no mapping is required but after posting the file i am using a graphical mapping program defined in IR only for mapping sync source message with the BAPi/RFC which is going to be triggered.
but i am getting error related to mapping...

Step by Step for FICO(GL,Assets and CO) Extraction

Hi gurus,
I am trying to see if i can get a step by step extraction process for FICO extraction cos am abt to start a project to extract and load GL,Asset and Controlling data into a BW system.I am thinking I shd be able to get a lot of the reports needed by installing the 0FI_GL_4.
Please any help will be appreciated and points will be awarded as well.

coming to steps in extraction:
install DS
replicate DS
create transformation between the DS and DSO
the same applies to DSO and cube.
But most of the times, no delivered DS supplements the clients finacial requirement, so if thats the case you would need to enhance the DS with the additional fields that would be needed in the reporting stand point

Best Ways to research a FI/CO topic ???

Hello!
I am relatively new in the SAP consulting world - I have been an Oracle Financials Functional Consultant till now. Just got my SAP FI/CO certification a couple of months back (after 4 months hands-on training) and am only now getting to use real-world SAP as a Consultant.
From time to time, I need to do some research on a FI/CO topic for real-life client scenarios. I have been logging on to SAP Service Marketplace and have looked at various Portals on the Home Page, including the Help portal. However, it seems that I am not looking at the right research materials or relevant portals / forum discussions.
Could you please share best ways to do research on FI/CO topics?
What are the best ways to get to the comprehensive documentation and discussion threads on a topic, like FX Revaluation (how it works, how to configure, how to use, common issues etc), Intercompany Accounting / Reconciliation Issues etc. In some cases, I may even need to look up some basic functionality like Document Splitting, Use of Assignment field etc.
Perhaps I am not looking at right documentation on the Help portal. Where specifically on Help portal should I go to for FI/CO topics on ECC 5.0 or 6.0?
Any and all tips are welcome!

Switching over from ABAP to SAP FICO: Good / Bad ?

I have worked as an ABAP developer for an year . Now I have an oppurtunity to cross train and become an SAP FICO Consultant,
Do you people think its a good switch? Considering the fact that an MBA in Finance is what I have in mind some years down the lane? so whether SAP FICO would give me some value for that MBA ?is it a true story?
Please give me an insight, as I am in two minds and confused.

First of All be happy for being an ABAP Consultant. As you aware that entire R/3 works on ABAP language. Its always good to work in ABAP.
If you really get an opportunity to work in SAP FI/Co, don't loose this opportunity. It's also a wonderful module.

FICO and SPRO access in development system

hi security admins,
i am a security consultant. now i am in development system. i want to give FICO access and SPRO access( only fico nodes should be authorised to access, others nodes should not authorised ) in development system. please suggest and tell me the procedure for restricting specific access.

Transitioning From ABAP To FICO

Dear Gurus,
As Stated on this topic discussion, i would be very much appreciated to receive any advice and notable documents / compilation on how to start to be a SAP - FICO consultant.
I've done throughly serch in the net about topic on how to be an effective SAP FICO counsultant and it helps me alot to know the basics, however i assumed that SAP is always inevitable for change specially in FICO, this is because the blogs and post i've read is already in the past and i just wanna know what are the most important things to start in FICO these days.

Hi Marky,
Krishna pointed out correctly to you. If you have background of Accounting then it would be ideal choice. However, I can see the subject from ABAP to FICO. You have to see which one you are very comfortable on the process side when you were worked with SAP Functional consultants SD, MM, PP, FI etc. Also, check what is your study and domain background because it gives you a ladder to move fast in terms of understanding on functional side.
If you have already worked on SAP FICO ABAP then it would be an ideal choice, but check above points before moving into correct SAP modules.
