Field labels in user forms.

Hi All,
I am new to IdM. In some of the forms, I am seeing field titles given as FMFIRSTNAME, FMLASTNAME, FMACCOUNT_ID etc. I guess these are some constants. From where the values of these constants are set ?. I mean, if I want to change the field labels, how can I change these values? Requesting your help in this regard.
Thanks.

These are stored in the message catalog that is associated with the currently selected locale. Search through the documentation for message catalog information to see where the existing values are stored and how to create your own custom message catalog so that the form labels are not hard-coded into the actual form (thus allowing multi-language deployments).

  • Want to add a prepopulated User defined field in create user form

    Hi,
    I have an entity adapter which will perform a pre-insert check on the user group of the user logged in to the oim.
    If the logged in user belongs to a group say "IT ADMIN", another validation check will be imposed on the create user action performed by him.
    If not from "IT ADMIN" group then create user action will be handled normally.
    Now the catch is, how would I determine the group name of the user logged in from the adapter code I have written?
    I decided to keep an User defined field "Created by" in the create user form which will be non-editable and auto-prepopulated with the group name of the logged in user. This way I will be able to map the variable field from the User definition drop down list while mapping the adapter variables.
    May you please guide me how I can achieve this?
    Would highly appreciate suggestion/inputs.

    Thanks for all your replies!
    However I am still in dark.
    I tried to retrieve the groupname using tcUSerOperationsIntf. But iit tries to retrieve the group name of the user getting created.
    Please note, the group name I want is not of the user yet to get created, but that of the user creating it i.e., the logged in user.
    My requirement is to have this created_by field in the create user form already prepopulated with the group name of the logged in user.
    So that I can put a check based on this field value in the netity adapter.
    If the group is IT ADMIN then proceed with the validation.
    Else no validation required.
    In short, I want to know,how can I auto-prepopulate a UDF in Create USer form?

  • Gaps appear in IE 6 browser window for hidden fields in Create User form

    Hi,
    I need an urgent input on this one.
    I hid an OIM default attribute for users in the 'Create User' form by modifying clear_all_fields.js
    The field is hidden from the 'Create User' page fine!
    But if I open the page from Internet Explorer 6 it shows a gap in the place of the hidden field.
    For Mozilla 3.0.5 the gaps are not appearing.
    I tried removing these gaps by deleting the tags and the field in the clear_all_fields.js
    or, by reducing the dimension of the spacer.gif in GenerateCreateUserForm.jsp.
    But it reflected no change in the form look n feel.
    The requirement is to hide the fields and not remove them.
    Any suggestion as to what may be the way out?

    Thanks for the update Leonard. This would be an extremely useful plugin. I've been looking for it on http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/ under the plug-ins tab but have been unable to find it. It wasn't even there in the Pre-Release Programs. Is it located somewhere else or with a different name? Please let me know.
    Meanwhile, I've been trying to write my own VB script to get the button clicked. Here's what I've come up till now-
    FindText
    HiliteList.Add->CreateWordHilite->SetTextSelect->GetBoundingRect->PointToDevice
    The last function seems to be deprecated. Also there's nothing to connect the text highlighted by findtext with HiLiteList.Add. I guess
    I may have to use the JSO word search method.
    Any advice, as always, would be much appreciated.

  • Multi Value User Defined field on OIM user form

    Hi Everyone,
    I have a requirement where i need to assign multiple resources to user as per access policy. These resources should be assign by virtue of some role (custom attribute as of now). The specific requirement is that one user may have multiple roles (and hence resources) and all these values should capture in any user defined field. As the requirement contains multiple Roles so we have to create multi-value user defined field for User form to capture all these role values under single attribute. Does OIM provides any such multi-value field OOTB (lookup, drop down--any customize way we can make them multivalue)?

    He's right. Multi Valued attributes on the User Profile are not available in OIM. If you want to do this, and you have a finite number of possible roles, you can create UDFs for each and map a checkbox or something to it if the user has that value. Then base your acccess policies off those.

  • Display repeated fields label in data form

    I have created an input form with periods & years in columns. One column for current period & year according to user selection and the other for Dec of prior year. Whenever Dec period is selected, the "December" word will not display in other column because it is the same. It seems like system default not to display for repeated fields. However, users would like to see it. Does anybody have any ideas/workarounds for this? currently, i typed in the word "December." with a dot at custom header to make it looks different so that the comparative column header will be displayed.

    Hello Raul,
    where can I change this setting? in workspace?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Disabling user form fields in Jsp..

    Hi I wrote a function to disable form fields for a resource.
    function disable(element){
        if(element != undefined){
            element.disabled = true;
            element.className="Fieldsdisabled";
            element.value="";
    when I call this method like  below , it disables textbox, textarea but not radio button field, Can anyone please help what mistake I am making.
    var element1=document.resourceObjectForm.elements["resourceFormData.parentFormData['UD_NY_'City_NAME]"];
                      disable(element1);  { This is a text field which gets disabled}
    SimilarlyTextarea, combo box gets disabled.
    But when I use it to Disable a radio Button  having two values like X,Y:
                      var element3=document.resourceObjectForm.elements["UD_NY_CITY"];
                      disable(element3); (This is radio button field}
    It is not disabling it.
    Can anybody tell what is the mistake here?

    Thanks for your reply!!!!!!!!!!
    I know about resource object form i am just asking what is the use of user define field in resource object form. How can we use it. Like when we create any user defined field in under User form those fields display on create user form but when we create any user defined field in resource object from those are not displayed in form.
    If anyone has used or worked on user defined fields in Resource Object or resource object form; please give me an overview over the same.

  • Additional user search field in User form similar to "Manager" search field

    Hi,
    I need to add a field to the User form in a OIM 11g R2 system that is practically identical to the "Manager" field (it's just for adding a deputy of some kind).
    I did not find a way to copy&paste the "Manager" field by e.g. exporting a sandbox, modifying it and importing it back into the system and have it work properly afterwards.
    How can this be achieved? Is that documented anywhere?
    Thank you,
    M

    To add new field like Manager on user form. you need to do following steps,
    1. Create Custom Field (UDF) before publishing it take export of that. which will help you to import same sandbox in other environment.
    2. In OIM 11g R2 there is link called as customization when you login into OIM console.
    3. Create new sandbox
    4. Open form you wanted to add created custom field.
    4. Go to customization link and add new field on required location.
    5. Save changes
    6. Publish sandbox

  • Mandatory Attributes in Create User Form

    Hi All
    i want to make the mandatory fields in create user form (ie Organization name) as optional.
    For this i edited the FormMetada.xml file by making optional as true. (in the attribute reference for Organization field in User management section), as mentioned in the docs.
    Now when i try creating user, it shows me 'You do not have permissions to perform this operation' error.
    while when i give some value in the organization field, then it creates the user.
    please provide some pointers in this regard.
    Thanks.

    You MUST provide an organizatation name. There is a system entity adapter on the Users data object. You cannot avoid populating this.

  • Can I see the User form trace

    hi,
    Can I see the intermediate values for the fields in the User forms.
    Thanks

    Enable trace in the System Configuration object.
    From Debug page > List Objects> Configuration> System Configuration. Click Edit.
    Look for Workflow Trace and enable it. Write it to a file if it is your local server. If it is a remote server then set the value of console trace to true.
    This will genetrate the output onto the browser.

  • User form: to execute some operation at server side for a command click

    jurajsiska Apr 11, 2006 7:56 AM
    I'm creating a customer user form. I want to do some thing at server side when a command is clicked, but don't want to save any modified value until user clicks "Save" button. There is property for command display class, named "command", but it just gives you opportunity to execute some pre-defined command, Save, Recalcuate, or Cance. How can I achieve this by customizing the event handler for command click?

    I just figured out a way myself. Create a hidden field in your user form, use the java script to set hidden field to some value for the "onclick" property of BUTTON, and to check this hidden value in the properties command of BUTTON to know if it's coming from click or refres/recalculate. Of course you need to reset the hidden value in the expression of command property.
    Hope it's helpful for somebody having the same situation,

  • Tranformations between AD User Form and AD

    Hi,
    I have stored an image as a String encoded with base64 in one field in AD User Form. I want to provision it to AD as a byte array, so I can not use ChangeAttribute adapter. How can I transform the data?.
    Regards,

    If you want to use a metadata code instead (Users.Department) then create a lookup of field type with the name as Users.Department, and the field as USR_UDF_DEPARTMENT. Restart.

  • How do I create visible field labels in a pdf form that can be overwritten by text? I have tried add

    I am creating a very straight forward fillable form and want to add a description of each field that can be visible to the user, but goes away when the person enters the appropriate data in the field. I have tried to suggested custom scripts. The script command were: if (!event.value) event.value = event.target.name; and
    if (!event.value) {event.value = event.target.name; event.target.display = display.noPrint;} else {event.target.display = display.visible;}. Both allow the lables to be visible but neither allow the user to either replace the label with the relevant information and if it does, then the replacing data does not print/remain viewable.
    I am confident this is doable as I have seen forms that say something like "add your name here" and when you enter the data that field label is replaced with the information I enter.

    Hi George,
    I have tried this. What I get is a field label, and I can type into the field, but the label does not go away and the page prints blank. Should I try: if (!event.value) {event.value = event.target.name; event.target.display = display.Print;} else {event.target.display = display.visible;}, removing the .noPrint?
    You have no idea how frustrating it is to try this and have such a simple function not work. Is there anothe script I can try?
