Here client wants 200 fields in cube
whether that is suggestable help me in this

Hi,
Its possible to have that many fields in the cube, but you have to consider what the reporting requirements are and how the data is connected, etc. You also have to consider how much data volume is going to be generated and at what level you are going to store the data in the cube. If your client is suggesting you to have line item level or granular data in your cube , suggest to them to have that in an ODS and provide jump queries from the cube to the ODS if necessary.
If many of the fields are not going to be required for reporting at present or in the future, suggest to the client to have them in the ODS and a smaller subset of the fields in the cubes.

    I have a cube running and loading data for 8 months now.  Now I have a requirement such that I have to include 3 more fields in the report.  Here, 2 fields are there in DSO and 1 field is not even in the data source.  Can anybody help me with this?

    Hi Rakesh Ramanan,
    For the two field that are already present in DSO,you can add them in Cube no problem in this.
    But for the new field which is not present in itself in data source you need to modify the datasource .For this firstly you have to go RSA6 transaction select your data source,double click on extract structure then you can append structure,here you need to select the field which you want to add, there are four option  for the append  field added that are
    i)Selection :They act as selection criteria for data extraction in RSA3 transaction.
    ii)Hide field: As a result of this selection, the field is no longer made available in BW.
    iii)Inversion : The value of the key figure is then transferred in inverted form i.e. multiplied by (u20131) into BW or BI.
    iv)Field only: Deselect the indicator u2018Field Onlyu2019 to enable the Service API to pass on the append structure field to the extractor together with the fields of the delivered extract structures in the field list as well as in the selection table.
    You also need to deciede that how you gonna fill this appnded field table or using function module.
    there are many articla available in sdn you can go through them.I have also work on the datasource Enhancement based on the FM and frame the work in one doc if you want just reply me i will provide you that.

  • Modelling the fields in the cube from different source system.......

    Hi,
    I need to create one query on the cube.
    User want some of the fields in the query which are present in diffrent source system , rest of the fields are present in the cube.
    These are master data fields ( 7 fields in total) from other source system.
    Cube gets data from one ODS.
    some steps I need to do are :
    1) create new source system
    2) Create corresponding objects in BW.
    3) Model the things in ODS and cube
    Can somebody let me know what is the best way/steps to model such scenario.

    Replicate both the data sources to BW.
    Create 2 infosources/transformations, map them to respective fields and infoobjects.
    Now assign them to cube and load the data

  • How to get the histoical data for newly added field in the cube?

    Hi Experts,
    I have small doubt on remodeling the infocube.
    After adding the characteristic or keyfigure  to a cube by using remodeling concept, how can I get the historical data for that particular field.
    I have searched in SDN also but I didn't get proper information.
    Please excuse me if I posted repeated question.

    depending on your customer need you could use the remodelling functionnality but sometimes you have no way to retrieve what you want so another option you should consider is the following:
    Advantages
    that will cost less effort and guarantee the result.
    Drawbacks
    data is redondant for a while
    space (depending on the volume of historical data)
    So here are the steps :
    step 1Adjust your extraction process according to the fields you need to add to populate the cube.
    step 2 Then create a dso next or even a cube, feed the dso with a full load with the enhanced extractor you adjusted with the new fields in step 1 only once in fact this should be one shot.
    step 3 Copy the query to the previous built  multi-provider on top of the new historical data from dso and the running live delta cube. Adjust the queries if necessary.
    optionnal Then if you want to get rid of the dso or new cube for historical data you could empty the actual one push the data from the new data provider and that's all.

    There is one cube in which i have to create one field which field is already in the source but not in the target level and the  most importantly  this cube is working cube data is loadng into it i we have to remodle this cube
    so can any body tell without any distubance how we can add this fiel into the cube and map with the source and finally reflect in

    Hi Gurkiran,
    You don't mention your BW release, if you have 7.x then there is a remodeling function to do this, just GOTO
    RSA1, right click on the cube, select 'additional functions' and then you have the 'remodeling' option.
    If you have a 3.x release then you could have the problem that there is an inconsistency between the
    DB and the ABAP dictionary if you try and add a field to a cube that has data already, in this case
    it is better create a copy of the cube, generate an export datasource on the cube and load the data
    to the copy cube, then delete the data from your original cube, make the change of adding the field
    and then load the data back from the copy cube.

  • Missing fields in the Cube.

    We have a 3 layered data warehousing model. The first is the write - optimized DSO and then the standard DSO and then the Infocubes. There are light/very light tranformations in between the layers.
    There was data already in the write- optimized DSO. I loaded the same into standard DSO and then to the Infocube. The loads ran successfully and I can see the status of the DTPs as green.
    Problem - One of the fields is not getting populated in the standard DSO as well as in the Infocube.
    there is data in the 0COSTCENTER field in the 1st layer but no data in this field in 2nd(standard DSO) and the 3rd layer (infocube). The transformation is ' Direct Assignment' .
    Does any body has any idea why this field is not getting populated.
    0COSTCENTER is one of the key fields in the standard DSO. also its compunded with 0CO_AREA which is also a key field. We have three controlling areas. 0COSTCENTER data is coming in for 2 of those but not for the 3rd one. Do you think there is some problem with structure of the standard DSO (key fields).
    Kindly help.

    My understanding is that one out of 3 possible entires for 0COSTCENTER field are not getting populated in the standard DSO, then that doesn't seem to be a problem with the DSO.
    If this is resolved I am curious to know the root cause.

    We have  ZLOGISTICS cube , the data souce of this filed has REFDCONR-reference dcument number filed . We have to create a new field in cube load data and get this new filed into the report also.

    So you need that this new field have data in old records?
    1.- If you are in BI 7.0 and the logic or data for that New field are in the same Dimension, you can use a Remodeling to fill it. I mean if you want if you want to load from a Master Data from other InfoObject in the same Dim.
    2.- If condition "1" is not yours.
    First add the new field, then create a Backup Cube (both cubes with the new field) and make a full update with all information in the original Cube. The new field willl be empty in both cubes.
    Create an UR from BackUp_Cube to Original_Cube with all direct mapping and create a logic in the Start Routine of the UR (modiying the data_package) you can look for the data in the DSO that you often use to load.
    To do that both cubes have to be Datasources ( right click on Cube-> aditional function-> and I think is "Extract Datasource")

We would like to add another field to the Cube and populate that field the same way as other fields in the cube. Can anyone help me with this since iam new to BPS and CRM,

    This can be done without disturbing the existing business scenario.
    As usual create the CRM infoobject ,Create a new multiprovider ,by selecting the existing real time info provider and the newly created infoobject ,further planning on the new multi provider  for attaining the new reporting strategy with out altering the old one.

  • NEW  fields in the hr cube 0pt_c01

    Hi Experts,
    I inserted a noew infoobject in the datafields of the ODS and try to create new update rule.
    I got the problem " Data Fields was set to 'no update' "
    for two Info objects (data fields) one already existing and another new Info object.
    I try to change the Update type to Overwrite but I am not able to select the option Source Field.
    i have added the new fields to the cube 0pt_c01,i have subtype,objectid, enddata, startdate, lockindicator, objectid, absence types, and keyfigures such as absence hours, absence days., payroll hours, payroll days, how do i create update rupes for the cube ,am struck in it . the fileds given are taken from customized datasource ZBW_HR2001PT(customized one)
    How shall I handle this situation.........

    I donot totally ustand your question though - <b>F4</b> on Source Keyfigure or Source Chars will give you the list of IO's available in the infosource.
    So make sure you have them all in there unless you are planning to populate using Routines at UR level.
    If you have enhanced the ODS then how abt adding the same to Transfer Rules, Comm strcuture..dint you do that ?

  • 0ENTRY_DATE not displayed in the Cube

    Hi All,
                Please help me out its urgent, I'm having a field(0entry_date) in the transfer structure and also in the communication structure of the infosource, but the field is not being displayed in the Cube and also in the Update rules.The Cube(0pur_c01) is a standard one.
                0ENTRY_DATE is a characteristic date field and is created based on reference charecter 0DATE.
                 Please help me out with a solution, i'm in need of this field for reporting.

    I have done that by adding the field in the cube and then, in the update rules the field automatically is beening seen, thanks you.

  • Adding new fields to existing cube

    Hi all,
    We have a cube with data, now we added 2 new fields to the datasource. And want to add two more fields in the Cube to correspond to the new fields. What would be the impact on the data that is already there in the cube? Can I go ahead and add the fields in the cube and start extracting data? What I want to know is what would be the implications in such a scenario?
    Any insight or help would be appreciated and fully rewarded.

    Hi,
    At least from the experience I had there were no performance issues. The only issue would be in terms of the time taken to transport. The larger the amount of data ,longer the transport time.
    You can continue extraction of data for those 2 fields from that point on. No need to empty the data from the cube and reload again. Only thing is that the data in the past for these 2 fields may not be mapped to the existing data in the cube. If you want to do that dump the cube and reload. Otherwise the data will be mapped from the time you start extracting the new fields with the data in the cube.

         i need to maintain two fields in the cube, first field hold data month wise(like M1,M2,M3) and the second field hold the data in the year to month wise.
    eg.

    I can think of following design:
    You have a source feeding the information as 10, 20, 30 etc for different months.
    Now continue loading data from source to cube for the first field (FIELD1).
    Now introduce an ODS between Cube and Source. Keep everything you have in cube as Key field in the ODS except Key Figure. keep the key Figure in the additive mode.
    Now in the start routine of ODS, for each of the record, you will have value of calmonth and a value to the KF.
    Say calmonth value is 01/2009 and KF value is 10. The thing you are doing is, you want to add this value to all the months along with the value of that month. Meaning this 10 should be included in all the months till december. Correct me if I am wrong.
    So for each of the record, duplicate the record from the calmonth to 12. In the case of example, it would be from 02 to 12 times.
    While duplicating the record, update the calmonth value of the duplicated data_package record as 02/2009, 03/2009 etc. etc.
    By doing this, you will have value for 10 for all the months in that year.
    After loading this information to ODS, you can pass that to Cube which will have your required numbers for FIELD2.

    You certaily should insert your infobject field in the cube to populate it. After This you can choose if populate it by direct mapping or by routine.(start routine or transfer routine)
    A classic example of start routine to populate infobject from master data
    tables : /bi0/pcostcenter.
    data : lt_data_package like DATA_PACKAGE occurs 0 with header line,
    lt_costcenter like /bi0/pcostcenter occurs 0 with header line.
    select * from /bi0/pcostcenter into table lt_costcenter.
    lt_data_package[] = DATA_PACKAGE[].
    loop at lt_data_package.
    read table lt_costcenter with key costcenter = comm_structure-costcenter.
    if sy-subrc = 0.

    In BI 7.0,
    we cannot add a characteristic to an existing dimension if the data is not deleted from the cube.
    It can go to a new dimension and that will not change the existing structure of the cube tables, but will just add to it (as another dim table).  or use remodeling.

  • Can't find all Tfs_Warehouse fields in the Tfs_Analysis cube.

    I'm converting an SSRS report that currently hits the Tfs_Warehouse relational DB and we want it to use the Tfs_Analysis OLAP cube instead.
    The report uses the dbo.dimIteration.StartDate field from the Tfs_Warehouse DB, I can't find it in the cube...
    Anyone knows how it's called or how to find it in the TFS cube?

    According to your description, you want to use Tfs_Analysis database, however you cannot find it, right?
    SQL Server can handle both relation databases (using database engine) and OLAP cubes (using Analysis Services, SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS)). SSAS is optional in SQL server installation. TFS uses SSAS as an option if you install the reporting capabilities,
    you can select the reporting tab in TFS2012 Admin Console to see if it installed and what server it runs on. From BIDS you simple select Analysis Services as type of data source and then the server name hosting SSAS (probably SQL1P if you have it installed).
    But if you not to familiar with SSAS and its query language MDX, you can always use the relational database TFS_Warehouse and SQL as data source for your custom reports.
