File Adapter Display

Hi
We are using SAP PI 7.0 and have 3 environments, development, test and Production.
what I'm trying to find out is why the communication channel file Adapter we have in developemt is different from the one in production.
both systems are running the same version of java and are patched to the same level
The development file adapter has 4 tabs for 'Source', 'Processing', 'Content Conversion' and 'Advanced'
The production file adapter has a single screen
additionally the development file adapter has 'Advanced Selection for Source File' functionality and the production version doesn't
Is there some configuration or process to change the display/functionality of the File adapter ?

1. can you confirm if all these servers are on the same patch / SP level? Different patches or SP level can change the screen layout.
2. Also note that some tabs are enabled only when a particular option is selected. ex. content conversion tab will come only if you have chosen File Content Conversion in your adapter

Mapping problem due to FCC in sender file adapter

I am doing File( Flat File ) to RFC Scenario.it is working fine..
the problem comes in mapping with multiple records.
FCC at sender file adapter is used
my Data Type are :

i try to use split by value & use oneasmany , not helpfull.
in message mapping when i checked th field VBELN -> display queue
i am getting an array 0200

PDF files in sender file adapter

Hi,
Can XI pick up pdf files (.pdf) from a folder using File Adapter?
If yes can u send me some blogs on this?

Hi,
It can be done by bypassing the payload from Integrationg engine.In this case this case XI will not process the PDF file but jus picks up the file from sender side and places it on the target side with no translations and message processing.No IR is required in this case.ID is enough.The file go thorough Adapter Engine it self.

But if u want to read the contents of the PDF also then there is no other way than writing the Javabased Moudle and configure it .

Problem in sender file adapter

Hi all,
I have a sender file adapter using ftp with processing mode delete. But my input file is not getting deleted. In RWB, the adapter satus is green with msg processed sucessfully. I tried with a file name that is not available in the ftp folder, but still the adapter status is green with msg processed succesfully.
Help me debug this error.

Are you using Content conversion ?
If adapter monitoring is green, and shows processed successfully, then if you have any errors , you can see in the RWB->Message Monitoring->Audit Log (Message display Tool).
If there is no error, then try to do the cache refresh as I told. Ask Admin help for that. Restarting a Adapter engine may help you here/

When i tested the scenario and monitored it using MDT in CC monitoring tool its giving me below mentioned error.
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
XML document must have a top level element. Error processing resource 'http://myurlname/mdt/me...
However if i change the occurence of DATA as some specific value for eg 4 instead of * it works fine.
Kindly help me in solving this problem.

Email attachment name in sender mail adapter to the receiver file adapter

HI ,
Ths is regarding email to file scenario. I am trying to create file (in rceiver file adapter) with the same name as the email attachment that i read from mail sender adapter. I want ro use adapter module for this. I could find from blogs that there is module - GetAttachmentName - available that i can use for this in sender mail adapter.
Can you please let me know what whetehr i neeed to mention any module key and parameters for this.
I assume , i need to do following steps :Please confirm.
1. i can use this module - after payload swap module and before standard mail adapter module in sender mail adapter
2. select ASMA option in advanced tab in sender mail adapter
3. In receiver file adapter select ASMA option in advanced tab in sender mail adapter
4. Also select file name option in ASMA in sender mail adapter

If you use the Module getAttachmentName, which is described here,

your scenario should work as you described it.
You just need to make sure that the Attachment Name that you read in the first place, is mapped to the Filename Attribute of the
Fileadapter (http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File/FileName).

File Adapter in OSB 11g

I am using a File Adapter created to read a file using OSB 11.1.1.3.0. But after i publish that osb project, i am getting the below warning and file is not been polled by the proxy.

I even tired creating a new WM thread and assigned to this proxy.
I have chosen MaxThreadsConstraint option with Maximum of 5 concurrent thread.
Also i have enabled Ignore Stuck Threads in that WM thread.
Now i dont see any thread stuck in the server log, but sametime the file is not been picked by the Proxy which means the error is suppressed alone from displaying in logs..

Need help with a simple process with FTP Adapter and File Adapter

I am trying out a simple BPEL process that gets a file in opaque mode from a FTP server using a FTP adapter and writes it to the local file system using a File Adapter. However, the file written is always empty (zero bytes). I then tried out the FTPDebatching sample using the same FTP server JNDI name and this work fine surprisingly. I also verified by looking at the FTP server logs that my process actually does hit the FTP server and seems to list the files based on the filtering condition - but it does not issue any GET or RETR commands to actually get the files. I am suspecting that the problem could be in the Receive, Assign or Invoke activities, but I am not able identify what it is.
I can provide additional info such as the contents of my bpel and wsdl files if needed.
Would appreciate if someone can help me with this at the earliest.

How to customize the File Adapter to put the header line in a variable?

I have a file in which the first line contains the number of records contained by the file itself.
Like this:
4
record1
record2
record3
record4
where each record is a delimited list of values
I need to validate that the records are actually 4.
in the documentation of the File Adapter I see that you can declare the first line as "header", but I have the impression that in this case it would be simply ignored, and not stored in a variable for later use......
Is this correct?
Any trick or workaround?

Need to get the Mail attachment name as it is to the receiver file adapter

I am doing a Mail to File scenario. I need to get the attachment from the mail and store it on the file server. I am using the PayloadSwap bean in the sender mail adapter. My requirement is to carry forward the attachement name as it is to the receiver file adapter side and store the file with the same name.
Did any one try doing this? I was looking at developing an adapter module but got struck as I could not find whether the attachement name is stored in the XI payload after it has got swapped using the swap bean.
Any help would be appreciated.

This is becoming a damn nightmare. When I run the adapter I am getting ModuleExceptions. Can you pass your eyes over these Java config settings to see what I am doing wrong. Receiver File Adapter - FTPEx: 550 Access denied

Hi Experts,
In my receiver file adapter scenario I'm getting 550 Access denied in RWB.
I am a little confused here because I could access the FTP client from my desktop using the same User and Password informed in the Receiver CC. I also could drag and drop a file there.
Here you have Detail Display in RWB, it seems that at least the user is working fine for PI also:
Success: Connecting to FTP server "<FTP IP>"
Success: Write to FTP server "192.168.10.85", directory "\Transportadoras\10326750000101\", file "Nfe_teste.xml"
Success: Transfer: "TXT" mode, size 8881 bytes, character encoding UTF-8
Error: Attempt to process file failed with An error occurred while connecting to the FTP server '192.168.10.85:21'. The FTP server returned the following error message: 'com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 550 Access denied.'. For details, contact your FTP server vendor.
Error MP: Exception caught with cause com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: An error occurred while connecting to the FTP server '192.168.10.85:21'. The FTP server returned the following error message: 'com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 550 Access denied.'. For details, contact your FTP server vendor.

Hi Daneial,
This is an issue due to any firewall or proxy between your Xi system and the FTP.In this case the direct logon
works with same user but when XI tries to create file at runtime you get this error due to network issues.
To resolve this contact your Basis/Network guys and
1. Set the permissions to FTP User you are using as 777 rights(full access to read , write and delete)
2.If you have access to PI server, try to telnet /connect to ftp using command prompt (open ftp .....) the FTP server form there, you should see the same error there , inform this to your network guys.
3.Clear all the files places already in the ftp (take backup) and test afresh after permissions are set by basis team.

File adapter status

Iam using File adapter(FTP) at source.
Could not see mesage id in communication chaneel monitoring
also MONI shows no messages to display.
What cud be the issue??
Any thoughts please.

I have tried changing from Test mode to Archive and specified the locatio,
still same problem
no msgId in Communication Channel Monitoring, no msgs to display in MONI.

Polling interval in file adapter.

Hi,
I have a doubt regarding the file adapter polling interval.
Suppose we get a file of size 512 MB and PI file adapter taking long time (say 15 Min) to process it, we have a polling interval of 10 min.
I have a 2 doubt in this case.
1. what will happen in the next polling interval. because the older file still is in process and it is still in the source folder location.
2. if at the same time there is new file get places in same folder location. then how the file adapter behave in this case. Is it start picking the second file or again poll the incomplete file.
I want to know that is PI maintaining some lock while processing some file from source folder.

Hi,
I guess normally it should process both files, earlier one which is in process and the new one as well (it depends your selection string in file name scheme).

Get File Name in UDF from file adapter sender

I want to obtain the name of the file, sended by the file adapter.. and later use it in the mapping logic.

File adapter OS command line - Calling a command remotely ??

Hi,
We have a scenario where in which receiver file adapter after putting a file on the FTP , a subsequent XML loader needs to be called which would load data into the client legacy ERP system.
There seems to be some idea about doing it through file adapter OS command line.
The problem is the how to call this loader command remotely from our file adapter OS command line.
Any help would be appreciated ???
