File FTP  as receiver

Hi! I am trying to transfer a file using File adapter as the sender channel and File FTP as the receiver channel. the file is successfully sended but not received.
I get this error message.
Error occurred while connecting to the FTP server java.net.ConnectException: A remote host refused an attempted connect operation.
Any suggestions?
/ Luis

Hi,
What is telnet?
A.Telnet is a user command and an underlying TCP/IP protocol for accessing remote computers. Through Telnet, an administrator or another user can access someone else's computer remotely. On the Web, HTTP and FTP protocols allow you to request specific files from remote computers, but not to actually be logged on as a user of that computer. With Telnet, you log on as a regular user with whatever privileges you may have been granted to the specific application and data on that computer.
A Telnet command request looks like this (the computer name is made-up):
    telnet the.libraryat.whatis.edu
The result of this request would be an invitation to log on with a userid and a prompt for a password. If accepted, you would be logged on like any user who used this computer every day.
Telnet is most likely to be used by program developers and anyone who has a need to use specific applications or data located at a particular host computer.
/people/shabarish.vijayakumar/blog/2006/08/01/along-came-a-file-adapter-mr-ftp-and-rest-of-the-gang - should help you setup a local FTP server on your machine.
I hope you have gone through this weblog:
/people/shabarish.vijayakumar/blog/2006/08/01/along-came-a-file-adapter-mr-ftp-and-rest-of-the-gang
You can check whether port is open for your server using telnet command.
Just type following command and press enter, in case of successfull connection it should give you a blank screen or some message from ftp server.
Eg: telnet 10.132.54.8 21
If it is giving error like this "A remote host refused an attempted connect operation." then it could be due to port not open for the server.
Please reward points if it helps

  • Quality of service in Receiver file/ftp adapter (SAP PI 7.1)?

    Hi,
We are building an IDoc to File scenario in SAP PI 7.1, where a single incoming idoc will create three different output files. Also files must be created in target server in a specific order.
Our first idea to ensure that files would be created following a specific order was that Message mapping (in Java) build target payload with all three files following expected sequence.
In addition, receiver file/ftp adapter is setup with a dynamic variable to create each file with a different filename adding also timestamp.
Testing the scenario, we see that three files are created in target server but when we sort them by creation date, it seems they don't follow always same sequence.
Sometimes adapter creates File1, File2, File3; next time it created File2, File1, File3 and so on.
Our problem is that files must be created always with a specific order and we cannot use BPM. Does anyone know if a receiver file/ftp adapter can be setup to create files following specific sequence (EOIO)?
I know that sender file/ftp adapter can be setup with a quality of service, but I didn't find anything similar for Receiver file/ftp adapter.
        Suggestions will be welcome.
    Kind Regards,
    Aitor

    Hi,
First, thanks all of you for your quick answers. They were helpful because we learnt a new configuration setting.
We tried your suggestions but they didn't really fix our problem.
Finally interface has been re-designed and we will not have to apply this logic, so no issue from our side.
However, let me continue with this topic in case that somebody else will have the same issue, then it will be able to review this thread.
When adapter created the files in the target directory (windows server), files had the expected timestamp in each filename. However, if we sorted windows directory contents by "Date Creation", files were sorted different that timestamp shows in the filename.
For example, adapter created following files:
    File1_20090325-115117-169
    File2_20090325-115117-174
    File3_20090325-115117-180
But when we sorted windows folder contents, files were sorted as follows:
    File2_20090325-115117-174
    File1_20090325-115117-169
    File3_20090325-115117-180
It seems that timestamp was pre-assigned by the adapter, but when adapter created the files, it did it with a temporary name and finally assigns the filename. If a file size was bigger than other, maybe it takes more time and windows creation date is higher.
If so, it means that adapter is not following same instructions as itu2019s indicated in "maintain order at runtime" checkbox.
Do you know if there is any way where we can push also the order in the adapter as we did in interface determination?

  • Unzip file using operating system command in file/ftp receiver adapter

    Hi,
I'm wonderdering how to unzip a zip-file in the receiver file/ftp adapter. I know it is possible to do it using the 'Operating system command' feature, but somehow the command I use seems to be ignored! (I'm using SP14, unix).
The command I entered is quite simple: unzip %F (also tried the %f, but i guess it doesn't really matter wich on I use).
Is it possible that I'm unzipping to another directory than the one i expect? the unzip should be performed to/in the current directory, and assumingly current directory is the one stated in the 'Target Directory', right?
Hope someone can clearify this issue for me.
    Best regards,
    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,
It seems to me also, that the files are being unzipped to a different location than what you are expecting. The OS command might getting executed in some default location(i am trying to fnd that out)on the server and not in the target directory of the channel(It seems logical to me)....
If you have time...pls try this out & see whether this would help...
Have a shell script written with the following commands in them
    cd <path to target directory>
    unzip $1(filename from the channel)
and in the OS command in the Channel give....
    <absolute path to the .sh file> %F
    Thanks,

  • Configuring the Receiver File/FTP Adapter !!

    Hi
I am trying to configure the Receiver file adapter using the J2SE adapter engine(Please note , NOT the J2EE adapter engine).I see a prerequisite for configuring as below
"The address (HTTP port and URL) where the adapter can be contacted from the Integration Engine".
What values are to be specified and how can they be validated ?
I could see an example given in the Docs saying below,
If i specify , say for example,
    "XI.httpPort=1234 and
XI.httpService=/file/Receiver, the end point address of the file/FTP adapter in the Integration Engine must be specified as follows:
    http://<fileadapterhost>:1234/file/Receiver"
Can anyone explain what exactly is this endpoint address and where should it be specified/referred to ?
    Thanks
    Saravana

    Hi,
    "http://<fileadapterhost>:1234/file/Receiver"
this adress refers to an end point with the end point type "xi-connectivity" in the integration directory (ID)which refers to the settings in the file adapter (httpPort=1234 and XI.httpService=/file/Receiver)
    1. you specify these adress in the file adapter (outbound)
    2. you refer to these adress in the ID (Receiver System End points)
every file adapter should have an own port, because you can not specify two identical ports in two fileadapters.
    hope I could help you,

  • Receiver File/FTP, SFTP, binary, endSeparator for CRLF ?

We are planning an interface using the Receiver File/FTP Adapter, using SFTP in binary mode.
The SAP PI runs on Unix, the other applications runs on Windows.
Can NameA.endSeparator be used to ensure that every line in this file ends on CRLF?
(As you know, Windows has the habit of ending lines in text files with CRLF - carriagereturn-linefeed, whereas Unix uses a singe LF - linefeed, also known as newline or nl).

Yes it can be done with '0x0D''0x0A' value which represents the CR and LF respectively...
which has been implemented succesfully in our interface...

  • Process TIFF file from FTP server using File/FTP adapter

    Hi,
I have a requirement to process a scanned document TIFF file from a directory on an FTP server using the File/FTP adapter and process through XI into a Web Service via a receiver SOAP adapter.
My question is can the file/FTP adapter be used to process the TIFF file into XI from an FTP server ? Also, what settings need to be made on the file adapter to allow this file to be processed into XI ?
    Thanks in advance

    hi colin,
TIFF is type of image file, it can be converted to binary using java mapping

  • Empty file handling in Receiver File adapter (FCC - Premature end of file)

    Hi
My interface is Flat file to Flat File interface with file content conversion which is working fine in SAP PI 7.1 EHP1.
If I want to process the empty file from sender system, PI should place the same empty file in the receiver FTP Location as per my requirement.
I am facing the below error message when PI tries to place the empty file.
Message processing failed. Cause: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: Premature end of file.
But if I am not using FCC, I am able to get the empty file at the receiver end.
Please suggest on this, If I am using FCC in the receiver side.
    Thanks
    Gabriel

    Hi Gabriel,
You can write a simple script to copy a file from source folder to target in case the fiel size is ZERO bytes. The script will not copy the file if the filesize is more than zero bytes, This will be processed normally by PI server. You can call the script from sender communication channel parameter : "RUN OS command before message processing". Could you please specify the Operating System (OS) you are using in your PI server.
    Regards
    Anupam

  • File/FTP adapter, outbound channel, content conversion, UTF-8 (Unicode)?

We would like to send "delimited" files to another application (tab-delimited, CSV, ... - the other application does not support XML-based interfaces). Obviously we will have an outbound channel that uses the file/FTP adapter and the data will be subjected to "content conversion".
The data contains names in many languages; not all of this can be represented in ISO Latin-1, much less in US-ASCII. I suppose UTF-8 would work. The question is: how is this handled by the FTP protocol? (considering that the FTP client is part of the SAP PI file/FTP adapter and the FTP server is something on the "other" machine)

    Hi Peter,
you can maintain the file encoding in the outbound adapter. See [Configuring the Receiver File/FTP Adapter|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/bc/bb79d6061007419a081e58cbeaaf28/content.htm]
For your requirements "utf-8" sounds pretty fitting.

  • Change file extension in receiver file adapter

    File to File Scenario
Posted: Sep 11, 2006 3:47 PM      Reply      E-mail this post
I am working on a File to File scenario.
Source System gives out a file: abc ( with no extension)
We need to archive it as: abc.done
And we need to send it to a FTP server ( receiver File adapter) as abc.txt.
How can I append a file extension when I archive and
how can I change the file extension in the receiver File adapter?
FYI, we are using XI as FTP server so I have created dummy message interface with no mapping.

    Hi,
If I understood correctly once XI picks up the file it should be archieved as filename.doc and then it should be FTP'ed to a different location with a change in extension filename.txt.
    1. To Archive in the sender communication channel you can use OS Commands after prosessing (>=SP14) to rename the file and archive it. Suggested write a batch file which will rename the file and call the batch file from the OS Command of the sender file adapter. You can either use Archive functionaliy of the Sender adapter or you can write one more command in batch file to move the file to different folder. Make sure you are using fullpath while writing batch file.
    2. As said use dynamic configuration in a dummy mapping and then get the source file name and change the extension.

    hi All,
The usedid we are using to connect to FTP location has appropriate access to write(we have an receiver file adapter) the files, when we connected to FTP location from PI server using same useid(as used in channel) we are able to connect to FTP location and also able to write the file there.
    Now error soming is:

  • File.ftp.FTPEx: 501 Unexpected reply codeUnknown extension in database file name

    Hi Folks,
I am trying to place file in the iSeries library folder and for this I am using a receiver file adapter with the following config, FYI, I am not using any FCC
    Target Directory : /QSYS.LIB/XXXXX.LIB/
    File Name Scheme : FILENAME.FILE
As I am doing this config for the first time I am using the following SCN discussion as my reference,
File FTP to AS400 Library folder | SCN
but i am still getting the error message at the receiver channel as below
Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: An error occurred while connecting to the FTP server 'XXXXXX:21'. The FTP server returned the following error message: 'com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 501 Unexpected reply codeUnknown extension in database file name.'. For details, contact your FTP server vendor.
Please let me know if anyone has anymore suggestions.

    Hi Kalyan,
The File Name extension that you configured is incorrect I think.  Can you try to change the extension to .txt and try once.
    File Name Scheme : FILENAME.FILE

  • XI File Adapter sending/receiving zip files

Can the XI File Adapter create a zip file to send outbound from XI and/or can it also translate a zip file inbound into XI?

    Hi Kirk.
What you can do is use the OS command option on the adapter in order to unzip the file after the File\FTP adapter completes its file transfer to the specified path. One of my colleagues used a freeware zip app. that excepts an os command actions.
I know it works for file receiver but not sure about the sender. check SAP Note 801926 for more sender adapter parameters.

  • Using relative path for in file/ftp adapter

    Hi All,
How to have a relative path for file/ ftp adapter's inbound/outbound operation?
Example: Consider $ORA_HOME = /home/oracle --> This environment variable can be different on different machines
i want to drop a file in to $ORA_HOME/folder1/folder2 (Or poll for a file).
    <partnerLinkBinding name="FTP">
    <property name="wsdlLocation">FTP.wsdl</property>
    <property name="out_dir" type="LogicalDirectory">What do i write here???</property>
    <property name="retryInterval">60</property>
    </partnerLinkBinding>
if i cant configure this in partner link section or in activation agent sction, how else do i achieve this?
    i am using 10.1.3.* version.
    Thanks in advance.
    Roshan.

You can achive it using the deployment scripts if the directory is changing on the basis of the environment
If you want to change at run time than you can use the jca properties to set using the variables at runtime.
