File history stopped working after a warning message in the event log

I have encountered this twice that File history stopped working, the event log says:
Unusual condition was encountered during finalization of a backup cycle for configuration C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\FileHistory\Configuration\Config
If I re-run it, it consumes the backup disk space but still failed to backup.
I have to manually delete all backup, turn off File History and re-configure it again to make it work.
This happened twice already, so all my file history lost after re-config.
Anyone encounter the same situation?

It's the bad wording in the messages.
the first message (which I can only vaguely remember so can't quote exactly) that gives you the impression you can continue
something but doesn't make clear that to so will need the "old drive" configured the way the "old drive" was.
Then the next message is just confusing:
“we can't copy files to this location.  Your current File History drive is disconnected.  Reconnect the drive and try again” 
sounds like 
“we can't copy files to this location. [because there's a problem with the new location]
Your current File History drive is disconnected. [the new location is disconnected]
Reconnect the drive and try again [reconnect your new location and try again]” 
When it should be reworded to say something along the lines of (in more formal language):
"You asked us to continue...give us the drive you were previously using...or if it's no longer available, click here to start from scratch"
(I know that's all the opposite of tldr but I'm trying again to put into words what I think was happening).

  • Headphones stop working after a certain time and the notification for sound change has disappeared

    HP Pavilion dv6-6176sa
    Win7 64bit.
    I have a Pavilion dv6, and occasionally no sound will go through headphones when the jack is plugged in. The headphones themselves are not at fault, they are brand new and work fine.
    When the headphones are plugged in, the sound will only go through the laptop speakers. I've tried updating the drivers, fiddling with the jack and socket (as I read on google), the only resolution I have found is to restart the comp, which is a bit of a pisstake in all fairness and I'd rather not do that every time it happens.
    5 minutes ago I was watching a TV show, listening through the headphones, when I pulled out my USB mouse (and accidentally the charger with it). The sound then switched from the headphones to the speaker.
    If I open the sound settings, it will display the headphones as being plugged in, but the sound indicator bar (thingy) will only rise and fall on the speaker icon bar.
    Currently I have the audio jack pulled out about a centimetre, this allows sound through the headphones, but the sound is noticeably different to what it should be.
    I had rolled it back to "High Definition Audio Device", then reinstalled it to the most current driver. This hasn't fixed it.
    Also, this may be a related issue: (I guess) around the same time, the beats audio notification that pops up on screen when the volume is changed  has disappeared and doesn't display when the volume has changed.
    In microsoft sound control panel, it has the default speakers and the headphone logo, when i plug in the jack, a green phone circle thing appears by the headphone option, meaning it works i guess. However, the description changes from "ready" to "default communications device" and nothing changes for the regular speaker device.
    When I go to >configure, and test each (L/R) speaker, if the headphones are plugged in, the noise is louder then when they're not plugged it
    But yeah, brand new headphones, brand new laptop, it's mad. What's madder is that the headphones will work for x amount of time, then stop working when I next try to use them...

  • Iphone file browser stopped working after upgraded to IOS 5

    Hi,
    I have an iphone 3gs which I have recently upgraded to IOS 5. But to my horror after I have done that I can no longer browser my iphone's internal storage. Iphone connected to PC via USB, the file explorer no longer available. It can still sync with itune fine but there is noway I can access the storage locater in the phone via file explorer like I used to. Mind you I still have 3GB of space there.
    Is that a bug? Or I stuffed up the upgrade some where?
    Anyone else had this experience?

    I know whats wrong now...
    My phone had been emptied after I last restored it, after I took a picture and insert the phone back to the PC. The file browser shows up again...
    That means if there is nothing in the phone, the file browser wouldn't be too bother to even show up. Weird one...

  • Server File shares stop working after system reboot (10.10 / 4.0.3)

    Hello Community,
    I have a mac mini running OS X Server 4.0.3. I use it as a file server on my local network and remotely for when I'm at the office, it backups my and my wife's systems and I use the VPN for when I’m in places in the world where certain networks are blocked. It all worked like a charm back on 10.9 but now on 10.10 things get a little frustrating.
    I did a clean install of Yosemite 10.10 and Server 4.0.3. Setup access over internet (server.mydomain.com, local ip bound to its dns). DNS in Server running. Setup Open Directory with a few network users. Created shares for different folders on a thunderbolt disk and all was good using files from both my local network as from my office. Did a reboot of the Server and now when I try to connect (using ‘connect to Server’) the list of shares pops up but when I select a folder it gives me ‘There was a problem connecting to the server “server.mydomain.com”. Check if the server name or IP address, and then try to again. If you continue…’. I have no clue what to do since nothing has changed from a name or IP perspective. Side note: in Yosemite I could only connect to the server using ‘connect to server’ never from the sidebar which worked in my previous Mavericks setup. I removed / deinstalled Server 4.0.3 and did a clean setup of server, got everything working, reboot > broken.
    I hope you can shed some light on this situation and help me get it up and running again.

    Edit: VPN, TimeMachine and VNC are all working like they should.

    In the AFP access log it shows a login with immediate logout and error -5023 0 0. (No AFPLogin call has successfully been made for this session)..

  • Photoshop 3D Extrusion stopped working after latest Adobe update

    I have Creative Cloud subscription and Photoshop 3D Extrusion used to work fine (though slow).
    After latest update several days ago it stopped working, displaying an error message instead:
    "The 3D features require that 'Use Graphics Processor' is enabled in the Performance preferences. Your video card must meet the minimum requirements and you may need to check that your driver is working correctly"
    The Graphic Processor is enabled, and the driver is working fine.
    Is this a bug or a "feature" in new version? How to make it work as before the update?

    When Adobe sold me the Cloud it did not tell me that 3D features were not going to work.
    The last update was applied only to Cloud version of Adobe products. It's not Photoshop specific. Something was wrong with the cloud software update.
    I expect Adobe to fix the bug and make 3D features work again.

    I understand that the touchscreen stops working after a short period on your HP L2105 Monitor. The first thing you are going to need to do is determine if this is a monitor or PC issue. To do this you should try connecting the monitor to another computer and see if the issue persists.

  • Mouse and Keyboard stops working after a while

    Hi, I'm not even sure where to start to find the cause of the problem. I have a normal ps/2 keyboard and USB optical mouse, both of them just stops working after a few hours. The light on the mouse just dies and the keyboard is not responsive at all.  I have to do a hard reboot of my computer. How and where can I diagnose the problem? I noticed the problem started when I upgraded to the latest kernel.

    I found a workaround for that by unplugging the mouse, removing the uhci_hcd and adding it back, so:
    sudo rmmod uhci_hcd
    sudo modprobe uhci-hcd
    But I'm still not sure what causes the problem.

    I am using it in the BADI_ORDER_SAVE, when I do not add this message to the log the pop up message is coming out fine.
    In this FM if I send E to iv_msgty ,its working fine too.The problem is coming only for warning messages.
