Headphones stop working after a certain time and the notification for sound change has disappeared

HP Pavilion dv6-6176sa
Win7 64bit.
I have a Pavilion dv6, and occasionally no sound will go through headphones when the jack is plugged in. The headphones themselves are not at fault, they are brand new and work fine.
When the headphones are plugged in, the sound will only go through the laptop speakers. I've tried updating the drivers, fiddling with the jack and socket (as I read on google), the only resolution I have found is to restart the comp, which is a bit of a pisstake in all fairness and I'd rather not do that every time it happens.
5 minutes ago I was watching a TV show, listening through the headphones, when I pulled out my USB mouse (and accidentally the charger with it). The sound then switched from the headphones to the speaker.
If I open the sound settings, it will display the headphones as being plugged in, but the sound indicator bar (thingy) will only rise and fall on the speaker icon bar.
Currently I have the audio jack pulled out about a centimetre, this allows sound through the headphones, but the sound is noticeably different to what it should be.
I had rolled it back to "High Definition Audio Device", then reinstalled it to the most current driver. This hasn't fixed it.
Also, this may be a related issue: (I guess) around the same time, the beats audio notification that pops up on screen when the volume is changed has disappeared and doesn't display when the volume has changed.
In microsoft sound control panel, it has the default speakers and the headphone logo, when i plug in the jack, a green phone circle thing appears by the headphone option, meaning it works i guess. However, the description changes from "ready" to "default communications device" and nothing changes for the regular speaker device.
When I go to >configure, and test each (L/R) speaker, if the headphones are plugged in, the noise is louder then when they're not plugged it
But yeah, brand new headphones, brand new laptop, it's mad. What's madder is that the headphones will work for x amount of time, then stop working when I next try to use them...

Normally they don't. You might have some sort of problem on your system, possibly a conflict with other software, or corrupt ID prefs or application. Trashing the prefs is easy, and good place to start: Replace Your Preferences
It will help if you tell us the OS version, whther you've installed the 8.0.1 patch, and how you are trying to access the commands, and what happens when you do. Is this isolated to one file, or does it happen with all files?

Bluetooth Headphones Stop working after reboot or power cycle

I have some Insignia NS-BTHDP blue tooth headphones and whenever I restart my Imac or turn off my headphones they stop working. They still connect and the my Imac acts like it is using them for audio output but no sound ever comes from them. I have to remove the device and re-add it to make them work again.
I have seen other people with this issue but never a solution to it.

If the sign does not go away it has not completed the restore. So you are incorrect when you say it "keeps completing the restore" if that message is still displayed.
Do you get an error message? If so, what is the error number?

My distributed form has stopped working after Acrobat did an update the form no longer appears in my tracker.

I had a form that auto collected data through Adobe but it has stopped working after my Acrobat X Pro did an update.
The form no longer appears in the tracker. How can this be fixed? I am using Windows 7.
It would appear that since Adobe are going to be closing the Workspace area in January 2015 that when
Acrobat did an update the ability to connect to files in the Workspace has been removed.
Is there any way to reconnect the file back to the Tracker?

Adobe don't seem interested in helping as this question has been posted for three days and yet no response.

First and foremost thing you can do it is that reset your Firefox and after that change it to safe mode.This may be happening due to venerable links getting downloaded.

I have a 2009 Macbook. The headphones will work for awhile then just stop working. After I reboot they work again for a short period then stop working again. I have tried several different headphones and they all do the same thing. Help.

Firefox stops working after a short time of running, I keep getting a Net Error message

I am very frustrated with Firefox! I can load firefox fine in the morning, but after a short time it quits working & I get a Net Error message. I notice it most on Facebook! When I click like, it won't do nothing but sut there working, if open in a new tab, I get the net error message. I try to open other websites & get the net error message. I checked & I am running the latest version. I am running fine on IE, but I like Firefox! I've been using it for years with no problems, but after an update is when I started experiencing problems. I waited thinking, firefox will fix it with another update, but no fix! I am running Windows 7 on a Gateway computer & have had no problems with older versions of Firefox. Brush diameter not appropriate. Bracket keys stopped working after a certain diameter.

You can Reset the Brush Tool, select the Brush tool and ctrl-click on its' icon in the Options bar.
Next try a Preferences reset: Hold down cmd-opt-shift while starting Photoshop and agree to the Reset.
if that does not work I suggest a reinstall. The upgrade has been know to damage CS5 installs.

Headphones stopped working after update, sound only on left side.

I have a good set of Bose headphones that have worked great for my MacBook Pro, iPad, and iPod. I noticed after I updated the software for my MBP, sound would only come out of the left side of the headphones. I checked for mono vs. stereo, balance, all the other stuff I could find, but had no luck in finding a fix. I gave up and just used the headphones for with my iPhone and iPad...until I updated those to iOS 8.2 and the same problem happened: sound only through the left side. The headphones still work with other non-Apple devices and even with other apple devices not upgraded to the most recent OS.
Any suggestions on how to fix? Not a fan of my $200+ headphones being useless now just because of a software update.

How do i fix my home button it has completely stopped working after i dropped it and now its frozen on the apple screen?

so yesterday i dropped my iphone and the home key stopped working. i had to turn the phone completely off to change screens and get back to the home page. today i turned it off to get back to the home screen and now it is frozen on the apple screen. its been like this for about an hour or so. i plugged it into the computer and it still hasnt done anything. i try to reset it but of course since the home button isnt working it wont allow me to do so.
does anyone know what to do besides taking it to apple?

You can try the steps recommended in the User Guide. If they don't work bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

File history stopped working after a warning message in the event log

I have encountered this twice that File history stopped working, the event log says:
Unusual condition was encountered during finalization of a backup cycle for configuration C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\FileHistory\Configuration\Config
If I re-run it, it consumes the backup disk space but still failed to backup.
I have to manually delete all backup, turn off File History and re-configure it again to make it work.
This happened twice already, so all my file history lost after re-config.
Anyone encounter the same situation?

It's the bad wording in the messages.
the first message (which I can only vaguely remember so can't quote exactly) that gives you the impression you can continue
something but doesn't make clear that to so will need the "old drive" configured the way the "old drive" was.
Then the next message is just confusing:
“we can't copy files to this location. Your current File History drive is disconnected. Reconnect the drive and try again”
sounds like
“we can't copy files to this location. [because there's a problem with the new location]
Your current File History drive is disconnected. [the new location is disconnected]
Reconnect the drive and try again [reconnect your new location and try again]”
When it should be reworded to say something along the lines of (in more formal language):
"You asked us to continue...give us the drive you were previously using...or if it's no longer available, click here to start from scratch"
(I know that's all the opposite of tldr but I'm trying again to put into words what I think was happening).

Print to Go stopped working after install of KB2992611 on Windows 7 for x64 system

A large number of critical and importatnt Microsoft security related updates showed up on 11Nov2014 that were installed. Subsequently several failures happened after the restart (i.e. IE would freeze when started, Print to Go
stopped working - indicated that there was no connection to the Internet, the PrintToGoLog.txt had much more detail).
Other BB playbook users reported similiar problem after one of the updates KB2992611 was applied,
After KB2992611 (Security Update for Windows 7 for x64 system) was uninstalled, Print To Go functioned properly. Unfortunately, I.E still failing. Firefox is OK.

I recently updated by Q10 to the latest Rogers 10.3.1 software release, and was going through my apps to verify they were all still functional. I found that Print-to-Go was not working. As I do not frequently use the app, I do not know if the recent device software update is the cause.
After a bunch of searching around the web, I came across two possible issues:
1) SSL 2.0 setting within the Internet Options settings on my PC
2) Windows Update kb2992611
My PC is running Windows 7 64-bit Pro, with latest Print-to-Go driver and BB Link installed. The problem I encountered is that when printing from the PC the pop-up window would fail to load the page that allows you to sign in to Blackberry ID and verify the link to your device. The https://ptg.blackberry.com page would return a server error.
Enabling SSL 2.0 within the Internet Options on my PC appeared to fix this problem, as I was able to access the BBID login page. However printing documents would still fail.
I then uninstalled Windows Update kb2992611. This fixed the problem. Print-to-Go functioned as expected, and documents would appear on my device.
I then disable SSL 2.0 within the Internet Options on my PC, and there was no effect. Print-to-Go still functioned.
I then reinstalled Windows Update kb2992611 and Print-to-Go appeared to work (ie you could sign-in with BBid), but printing of documents would fail and give an error message. Uninstalling the Windows Update again fixed the problem and PTG would work fine.
So, it appears there is a conflict between Print-to-Go and Windows Update kb2992611.
Will Blackberry be updating their desktop PTG driver so that it is compatible with this Windows Update?
The Windows Update addresses a security issue, so I'm not comfortable leaving my PC with this update not installed.

The forward and back buttons in firefox 4 beta 7 dont work after trying to customize and the bookmarks button only shows when customizing

after installing firefox 4 beta 7 any customization of navigation bar breaks the forward and back a page buttons they stop working and and restoring the default buttons option it still doesn't work even in the safe mode and the text in menu buttons looks glassy

What I found was that anytime I installed one of the beta's, as soon as I tried to customize the bars and hit the "small icons" checkbox from customize that I would no longer be able to have the round shaped foward back buttons but only square (rectangle) small buttons.
To get those round ones back, but never again to the right of the "File - Edit - etc" bar, all I did was move all the buttons down to the navigation or another bar below as I have the space.
The problem still occurs that anytime I attempt to put them back up top beside the file etc options they go back to those small rectangle buttons :(
