File open/close/read/write

Question

open a file..
write text into file..
path in varchar2,
filename in varchar2,
firstline in varchar2,
secondline in varchar2)
is
output_file utl_file.file_type;
begin
output_file := utl_file.fopen (path,filename, 'W');
utl_file.put_line (output_file, firstline);
utl_file.put_line (output_file, secondline);
utl_file.fclose(output_file);
can not return any value???
How do I do this operation_?

well you haven't shown all your code or how you are calling this.
No reason using utl_file shouldn't work assuming you've set up your directory objects correctly to point to a valid directory on the operating system, and you've granted write permission to the user executing the code, and referenced the directory object correctly in your UTL_FILE.FOPEN statement.
