File open/exists problems under Mavericks

If I try to open a file under Mavericks, it says Path is not a valid path even if the files exists for real.
I even tried app.project.file.exists for an opened project, and it return false.
Anybody have an idea ?
CS6, OSX 10.9
By the way my project file is on the desktop, i also tried putting it in Documents, Downloads,etc.. but didn't work either... However it is working on an external drive...

Found the bug source. A big OSX security flaw in my opinion. As the file was on the desktop, the path was Users/Me/Desktop/... However, I had a network connection to my pc, and the link was to my user account, Users/me/... So OSX was not trying to open its own /Users/ path but my PC folder... Somebody could fool the system, by creating a volume called /Users/... with some fake duplicate files, and someone could try to open something on his drive, but in fact it would load the evil Users volume.
I don't understand how this could be possible. I never understood how bad the OSX network volumes system was that bad, but never tought it would be so crappy.

You can uninstall the FileOpen plugin by running this tool:

Open file alarms severely broken under Mavericks

Hi.
So when I updated my systems to Mavericks, all of the alarms/alerts that open file to run an automator or Applescript applet had to be reset.
Even resetting was tedious, as each of the applets first had to be run from the finder. Then reset to the event(s) in Calendar..... but onle 2 can be set, then quit Calendar, then go back into calendar and set the next two......
Until Mavericks, I have depended on Canlendar to run everything.Calendar, invoking applets is like the best thing since sliced bread for our uses! On some days I have > 20 event alerts set.
The problem is that even after the tedious process of resetting all the alerts, once set, any adjustment to one will cause it to run at that instant. For example, I just went in to change a timer that was set to stop a particular event in another (scriptable) application at a particular time. I chose to just delete the timer because I knew that changing it would cause it to run right then. So I deleted it. Just deleting the alert caused it to run. right then.
Note to Apple: PLEASE FIX THE PROBLEM WITH CALENDAR AND AUTOMATOR / APPLESCRIPT applets!!!!
Note to anybody else who has been likewise devastatingly affected, IS THERE ANOTHER 3rd party app available that will do what we have been dependent on Calendar to do?

file (skript) is opened in my editor or not, with "observe Changes" feature or not, no difference.
problem is, some times the file is not written correctly.
lines or parts of it are deleted or added.
every combination I've tried, sometimes it produces Failures.
and writeln("blub"), never works!?
test is sometimes //test, st, or nothing!?

read the entire file, edit the string and write it completey back to the file

Binary file open .. problem with formatting

dear all,
probably it is too much time I am not using any more Labview, but I have a problem in opening the attached data file.
it is supposed to be a matrix of 1000x316, with integer values up to 16 bit (65k levels).
In matlab i open it with fopen command, and assigning the format as "uint16"..
now I want to create a quick viewer in labview, but I can not go beyond the classic binary string...
may you help me with this stupid problem?

ISO and DVD drive problems under Mavericks

Since I upgraded my Macbook Pro (15-inch, Early 2011) from Lion to Mavericks I have had problems with ISOs and my DVD drive.
If I download this ISO image for Ubuntu 12.04:

If I try to mount it, Mavericks reports that there are no mountable file systems.
If I write this to a DVD using Disc Utility and then try to mount the physical disc, Mavericks reports that the disc is unreadable and offers to eject it.
If I run Virtualbox and attach the image to the virtual CD drive device, it boots and installs fine.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on here with Mavericks?
What is Mavericks doing differently?

ok this just got ultra wierd. i tried running the comp with just one optical drive and my monitor stopped detecting a signal.so i plugged the second drive back in and it started working again. i tried this several times. then i tried running the comp with no optical drives and it worked fine. so it works with 2 or none lol. what a crazy system. i beginning to think this system is hopeless. i have replaced the mobo, and the PSU just to get the graphics card working properly. but now my dvd drive is acting up. grrr.

Print driver problem under Maverick OS

I guess I was a little too quick to update from Lion to Maverick. There is no print driver for my HP Laserjet 3200 All-in-One . I cannot print any pages anymore , it appears Apple threw in some obscure driver that does not work like the one under Lion OS X. Anyone have a suggestion on how to get the old driver into play since Apps does not recognize it under update.
Is it possible to migrate back to Lion?

Photoshop CC "file-open-desktop" problems

Why do I get a list showing every folder and every image file therein (a huge list) when I really want just a list of folders? Can't find a preference to change this. Also, when I do scroll to the desired file and image file, I can't click-select that file and cannot open it.

Are you saying you've been waiting for weeks for this file to save - and have made no prograss, and now your program is frozen from it? If so, I would force close the application at this point. My guess is, you aren't going to make any progress. I would give the steps for the force close, but I do't know which Operating System you are using.... If you need help with it - let me know
ugh - I hate it when that happens, especially as you will most likely lose all your work - unless you are in the habit we all tend to forget.. save and save often

IPad syncing problem under Mavericks

Since I installed Mavericks on my iMac, syncing my iPad 2 works but the operation never completes. I can unplug the iPad and use it, but when I come back to iTunes, the wheel keeps turning. Even if I plug it back later, the syncing will not end.
What's the cure, please?

Not really a reply: addition of information.
I just attempted a new synchronization. The arrangement of icons on the screen was updated, but the new photos are not showing up on the iPad.
In iTunes, the message reads (my translation): Waiting for the application of modifications. But the Apply button isn't showing!

How do i retrieve files in registry. problem reinstalling mavericks and disc utility can't fix problem

My macbook has got stuck in a reinstalling loop with mavericks and cannot be utility can't fix it. nothing was backed up. I have an empty external drive formated extended journal and am attempting to recover them thru directory but the usual command of diskutil did not recognize the verb "mount/dev/disk1" at the top of the directory it says -bash-3.2hashtag (I don't have the symbol on this pc). so I am unable to mount my hard drive (how do i even know if its unmounted?) can anybody help me please

My hotmail was working properly until one month ago , then I do not what happens ... My mistake has been to cancel that account and try to re-load it... I am blocked at "unable to verify account details".

When i go to file open illustrator does nothing.

I upgraded to OSX Yosemite last week and also the newest version of Illustrator cc 2014. Now when i start illustrator i can open a file using File > open, no problem. however if i want to open additional files I go to file > open and nothing happens. Open dialogue box does not come up at all. I've tried opening different files to make sure its not the file itself as well. I tried command + O too. still no go. If i use the finder and double click the file opens ok. ive uninstalled 2 times and deleted any preferences. Im wondering if this is a bug or am an idiot and just missing something.

No still no fix for me. I have to close illustrator or double click in my finder to get something to open. I also noticed its doing it with photoshop as well except photoshop gives the error message "could not complete your request because of program error" doesnt crash photoshop at all just wont let me open additional files. When i have time i think ill call support....

Adobe Reader XI won't launch, can't download or open existing PDF files.

Running Windows 7 and have had no trouble with PDF files until few weeks ago. Now Adobe Reader Xi won't execute and I can't download or open existing PDF files using Adobe. Interesting that I can open existing PDF files unsit PaintShop Pro X4 but not in Adobe. Have unistalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader XI several times with no change in problem.

You can try using Windows Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, then double-click on Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
