HI
In using vista  .I am getting file permission error in create text file.wats the reason?
kavi

Hi,
When you post a question, it would help readers answer your questions if you mentioned the LabVIEW Version you are using, a screenshot of the error and possibly the VI that makes this error occur.
Thanks,

  • Error 8 File permission error while building executable for a RT

    I got error 8 File permission error while building executable for a RT. It happened always after build, I mean new startup.rtexe and startup.alias files have been created. At the build properties, it was set use default .alias file.
    I had the executable built successfully at one time.
    The detail message is:
    Visit the Request Support page at ni.com/ask to learn more about resolving this problem. Use the following information as a reference:
    Error 8 occurred at Open/Create/Replace File in RTBEP_Generate_Deploy_Instructions.vi->RTBEP_Invoke_Build_Engine.vi->RTBUIP_Build_Invoke.vi->RTBUIP_Build_Rule_Editor.vi->RTBUIP_Open_Properties.vi->RTBUIP_Item_OnDoProperties.vi->RTBUIP_Item_OnDoProperties.vi.ProxyCaller
    Possible reason(s):
    LabVIEW:  File permission error. You do not have the correct permissions for the file.

    NI-488:  DMA hardware error detected.
    I checked relevant posts, couldn't find any clue.
    Please give me some ideas.
    Thanks.

    Hi Ya-hoo,
    Error building application in LabView 8.0 seems to describe a similar situation. The .alias file is important, as described in that discussion forum.
    Cheers.

  • Error 8 (file permissions) when using Help:Search

    Hi there,
    When I use the help system and do a search, I get the following error:
    Error 8 occurred at Open File
    Possible reason(s):
    LabVIEW:  File permission error. You do not have the correct permissions for the file.
    =========================
    NI-488:  DMA hardware error detected.
    This is Labview 8.2 running on Linux (Enterprise RHEL4), and I had the same problem with Labview 7.1.  The problem seems to be caused by the permissions on some or all of the following files, which are written to the /tmp directory when the search is performed:
    controls2.htm
    index2.htm
    js_buttons.htm
    search_results.html
    If I do a search, these files are written but not erased (with permissions -rw-r--r--).  If someone else then does a search, they get the Error 8 problem listed above.  If the owner of these files (or root) deletes them, the problem is solved -- until a different user than the owner of those temporary files wants to search the help system.
    My guess is that if I could get Labview to either open up the write permissions on these files or delete them after the help session is complete, the problem would be solved.
    Any advice?  Has anyone else had this problem (you would need a multiple-user linux system to see it)?
    Thanks,
    Tobin

    Hi Tobin-
    The following KnowledgeBase articles provide some valuable insight.  Check them out and reply if they don't help resolve the problem.

    And there are lots of discussions about this already.  For other possible causes/solutions, try searching the forums for "file permission error 8".

  • Web-Disk on OSX 10.9 Give me this error: "Finder got an error: Network file permission error."

    Previously I was using OSX 10.8 and Web Disk was working great.
    Since I upgraded to OSX 10.9 Web Disk Dont Attach to my compputer and give me this ERROR:
    FInder got an error: Network file permission error.
    When I got this ERROR first time I searched GOOGLE and found this link: http://cammodude.blogspot.no/
    And I did:
    To force all connections to be SMB1:
    Open A terminal window
    paste in the following line followed by the return key(should be all on one line):
    echo "[default]" >> ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf; echo "smb_neg=smb1_only" >> ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf
    What the command does:
    Creates a file called nsmb.conf  in your  home directory at the path ~/Library/Preferences/nsmb.conf.
    Adds directives to force SMB connections to use the SMB1 protocol.  This is slower but stable.
    Then I could use Web Disk on OSX 10.9 after executing this command in Terminal.
    But now I restarted my Macbook and now Im NOT able to connect to Web Disk and get the same ERROR.
    FInder got an error: Network file permission error
    After trying 100 times it attaches 1 time but then show this ERROR:
    Can't get <<class cdis>> "my.server.com/2078" of application "Finder".
    If this happen then I can see the files in Finder and see the Contents and Size of files but if I open a PHP file in BBEdit then it shows BLANK.. But actually it is NOT blank.
    Now Im stuck How can I solve this? All help is highly appericated..

    Thanks for your reply!

    I don't know how to determine which server the DBAdapter is targetted to.
    But I found the following information:
    Under Deoloyment->DBAdapter->Monitoring->Outbound Connection Pools
    Outbound Connection Pool Server State Current Connections Created Connections
    eis/DB/SOADemo AdminServer Running 1 1
    eis/DB/SOADemo soa_server1 Running 1 1
    eis/DB/soademoDatabase AdminServer Running 1 1
    eis/DB/soademoDatabase soa_server1 Running 1 1
    The DbAdapter is related to the following files:
    C:\ Oracle\ Middleware\ home_11gR1\ Oracle_SOA1\ soa\ connectors\ DbAdapter. rar
    C:\ Oracle\ Middleware\ home_11gR1\ Oracle_SOA1\ soa\ DBPlan\ Plan. xml
    I unzipped DbAdapter.rar, opened weblogic-ra.xml and found that there's only one data source is registered:

    </weblogic-connector>
    Then I decided to use eis/DB/SOADemo for testing.
    For JDeveloper project, after I deployed to weblogic server, it works fine.
    But for OSB project referencing wsdl, jca and mapping file from JDeveloper project, still got the same error as follows:

    You may need to configure the connection settings in the deployment descriptor (i.e. DbAdapter.rar#META-INF/weblogic-ra.xml) and restart the server. This exception is considered not retriable, likely due to a modelling mistake.
    It almost drive me crazy!!:-(
    What's the purpose of 'weblogic-ra.xml' under the folder of 'C:\Oracle\Middleware\home_11gR1\Oracle_OSB1\lib\external\adapters\META-INF'?

    Hello,
    What exactly are you trying to do? Here I got 2 examples for you , replace with your directory name and pick right option for 'a' (append) or 'w' (write) or 'R' (read).
    To read from a directory_ . This will read an existing file 'customer.txt" from the directory
    {code}
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE .file_upload
    IS
    v_file_name VARCHAR2 (200);
    v_file_type UTL_FILE.file_type;
    v_line VARCHAR2 (1000);
    BEGIN
    v_file_name := 'customers.txt';
    v_file_type := UTL_FILE.fopen ('EXT_TABLES', v_file_name, 'R');
    UTL_FILE.get_line (v_file_type, v_line); -- Error was here
    DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line (v_line);
    UTL_FILE.fclose (v_file_type);
    END;
    {code}
    _*To open a file*_ This will create customer_XXXXX file under the directory

    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE testme.file_upload

  • Error while using LabVIEW 8.2.1 Dll from Visual C++ 6.0

    I am getting an error while using a LabVIEW 8.2.1 dll from Visual C++ 6.0 application. This is what I am doing:
    1) Created a dll using LabVIEW 8.2.1 (I used a tutorial from NI knowledge base: "Creating DLLs from 6.0i". It is a temperature conversion VI; input DegreeF and get DegreeC out). Instead of LabVIEW 6.0i, I used 8.2.1. It created the dll Convert_Temp.dll successfully.
    2) Then I created a Visual C++ 6.0 application (used a tutorial from NI knowledge base: "Calling a DLL from Microsoft Visual C++ that was Generated by LabVIEW 6i). I could build the project and create an executable application F_To_C.exe.
    3) Then copied the LabVIEW dll Convert_Temp.dll into the folder where F_To_C.exe resides. Using windows explorer, went into that folder, and executed the application.  I got the following error:
    System Error 998 while loading the LabVIEW run-time engine (C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\LabVIEW Run-Time\8.2\lvrt.dll).
    Convert_Temp requires a version 8.2.1 (or compatible) LabVIEW Run-Time Engine. Please contact the vendor of Convert_Temp to correct this problem.
    I checked the folder: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\LabVIEW Run-Time\8.2\. It has the file lvrt.dll.
    So why am I getting this error?

    sounds like you need to install the LabVIEW 8.2.1 runtime. Not the 8.2 runtime engine.

  • Error while using XML Iview, please contact your system administrator.

    Hello everybody,
    I have already posted a detailed message for the XML iview problem sometime back but havent got any reply so far. All the replies had come from users who are also facing the same problem. I am trying to use a XML iview for fetching RSS feeds from one of the internet source, i have entered the proper URL and selected the proper RSS to XHTMLB transformer also and have entered the proxy settings in the http service and enabled it and restarted it also, but again when i am previewing the Iview its giving me the error <b>"Error while using XML Iview, please contact your system administrator."</b>. I am using
        Area           Version
        J2EE Engine    6.40 PatchLevel 98256.313
        Portal         6.0.14.0.0
    , can someone tell me whether its a bug in sp14 or i am missing something while creating this XML Iview. Expecting a proper reply.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Sarabjeet.

    Hi Sarabjeet,
    The XML iView uses server-side fetching, so if you are having problems with a regular URL iView in server-side fetching mode, so the problem with the XML iVIew probably has to do with the proxy settings.
    And since you got a 407 error, it seems there is an issue with proxy settings or the proxy server, as mentioned in this description of 407 error:
    The HTTP 407 code only applies to users who are accessing the Internet behind a proxy server. This is common in government and corporate workplaces. The 407 code indicates that your computer must first authenticate itself with your company's proxy server. Check with your IT department or computer support group as to the exact reason why you may be getting this error. It may be possible that the proxy server does not allow downloads of specific files (exe, cab, com). You can also verify that your proxy server settings are valid.
    I will check if I can find out any more specific info.

  • Permission error while addProcessTaskInstance of tcProvisioningOperationsIn

    Hi All,
    I am getting No Permission error while performing addProcessTaskInstance of tcProvisioningOperationsIntf. I am running this against process definition of Xellerate User. I have created a task in Xellerate User process definition and then trying to add this to user's process definition.
    There are two scenario -
    1) The call to addProcessTaskInstance is done by a user that belong to SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR group. It works fine. There is no error.
    2) The call to addProcessTaskInstance is done by a user that does not belong to SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR group. Here I am getting the following error:
    Caused by: Thor.API.Exceptions.tcAPIException: The logged in user does not have permissions to perform this operation
    at com.thortech.xl.ejb.beansimpl.tcProvisioningOperationsBean.addProcessTaskInstance(Unknown Source)
    at com.thortech.xl.ejb.beans.tcProvisioningOperationsSession.addProcessTaskInstance(Unknown Source)
    The handle to tcProvisioningOperationsIntf is created by using the respective user credentials.
    Can somebody suggest ways of how to fix this?
    TIA

  • File permission error in LabVIEW, but what file?

    I am in the process of smoothing out the wrinkles in a large LabVIEW program that I've converted from LV 7.0 to LV 2011SP1.  I've also moved from WinXP to Windows 7.  I get why there are file permission errors and I understand what the issues are in regard to moving from XP to 7.  What I would really like, is for the error message to tell me WHAT file is having the issue.  There are entirely too many file accesses in this program, I am not the originator, and it's been painful.  A more explicit error message, a log file, or some other cool trick to find what file is having the issue would be super.  While I'm asking for stuff, a call stack or at least the name of the VI this code calls would be wonderful, as nothing at all calls New File directly.

    How are you currently handling the error?  The file you tried to access should be part of the string in the error cluster.
