File placement rule

My user's scenario is this: He has access to folder A and
folder B. He needs to upload one PDF in folder A and another in
folder B, and link to BOTH these two files from a htm page in
folder A. Currently Contribute dictates that all PDFs go to the
Document subfolder under the same folder where the web page resides
(folder A in this case). Is there any workaround for this user? Any
insight appreciated.

put the question in the forums so that I could include images:

  • Include a subfolder in folder placement rules

What I'd like to do is set the administrative settings within Contribute CS5 (ps... we connect to CONTRIBUTE PUBLISHING SERVER as well...) such that files of a certain type are placed within a SUBFOLDER next to webpage...
so for example... if i'm editting the file /index.cfm and  I insert an image using contribute, the image would be placed in "components/images/".
Anytime i try to add a slash to the FILE PLACEMENT RULE dialogue box
    I get the following error:
"you entered a folder name that contains invalid, accented, or double-byte characters. Contribute will remove these characters from the folder name"
and then the slash is removed. I know it is possible to add a slash here, because the previous administrator had our site set up this way.
when you EDIT ROLE SETTINGS, click on FILE PLACEMENT, then click IMAGES, then click EDIT. On the FILE PLACEMENT RULE box, click FOLDER NEXT TO EACH WEBPAGE and try to enter 'components/images' (without quotes). After entering this, you should receive the error message identified above: "you entered a folder name that contains invalid, accented, or double-byte characters. Contribute will remove these characters from the folder name"
here is proof that these settings used  to work:
any idea how i can accomplish this?

imagine you have the following site structure
    /breakfast_foods/pancakes/
    and
    /breakfast_foods/muffins/
    and
    /breakfast_foods/eggs/
Imagine the goal is to have it such that when someone edits/creates a webpage in any one of the folders above, and adds an image to the webpage, that CONTRIBUTE will automatically create the necessary folders...so instead of just creating the folders:
    /breakfast_foods/pancakes/images/
    /breakfast_foods/muffins/images/
    /breakfast_foods/eggs/images/
we want contribute to create the folders like this:
    /breakfast_foods/pancakes/COMPONENTS/images/
    /breakfast_foods/muffins/COMPONENTS/images/
    /breakfast_foods/eggs/COMPONENTS/images/
so we go into contribute administration, Go to EDIT ROLE SETTINGS>>FILE PLACEMENT and then click IMAGES, then click EDIT, then select the "Folder next to each web page" option, and enter "components/images". you'll receive an error message and contribute will pull the '/' out of the file path.
The ultimate idea is that all uploaded files will be in subfolders within the COMPONENTS folder... so i would go and edit PDFs and have them go to 'componentes/documents'...
as i mentioned previously, this is how we had it set up... but in migrating to new infrastructure, i can't seem to tell contribute to put files in a FOLDER within a FOLDER next to the file being editted.

  • File Place does not appear on my menu. Neither does Tools Photoshop Image processor.

In Bridge File>Place is grayed out on my menu. Tools>Photoshop>Image processor does not appear at all.  I have reset the preferences numerous times and am good to go until I shut down my computer.  When I reboot they are gone again.  I have a Mac with OS 10.10.2 (Yosemite) and CC.

I shut down using "Shut Down" under the Apple menu.....always…
Well, that's fine for the OS, but sometimes not so great for Photoshop.  Try QUITTING Photoshop from the Photoshop menu, or by Command Q, before you get anywhere near your Apple menu .
Gene gave you sound advice, but don't forget to run Repair Permissions with Apple's Disk Utility before and after any installation, upgrade or update of the OS or any application.
You'd think that shouldn't be necessary, but it is indeed vital, indispensable routine maintenance.
Forget about "it had never happened before", Yosemite is a work in progress.  Apple never gets a major OS X release right until about the dot four or five release, so Yosemite has a way to go before it's at 10.10.4 or 10.10.5.  That has proven to be the nature of the beast.

  • In CS4 Use of File Place Does Not Center Images

I have been using CS3 for about 1 1/2 years, so of course had to give CS4 a try. I downloaded the trial. I immediately had an issue with File > Place.
I often use File > Place to add additional items into a document. I believe the expected functionality of File>Place is that the file should then be centered in the document.
Here is what I have done:
+ Create a 12"x12" document at 200ppi (I have also tried to create a document at 2400x2400 pixels)
+ Use File>Place to add a square 2400x2400 pixel image (JPG file) into the document
+ The added layer is now offset ever so slightly in the new document.
+ Further observation shows that the horizontal reference point is at 1202 (screen shot attached), thus creating an offset from center. I change it to 1200 and sure enough the paper is centered perfectly. I thought maybe changing it once would make it the same next time, but that is not the case.
+ When I used the File>Place command, I was zoomed out (25%), and the entire image was viewable on screen. If I zoom out further, say 8.33%, the offset is 1206.
I am able to duplicate this on two different computers with the following configurations:
    Computer #1
    + Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP2
    + AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ (3.01GHz)
    + 4GB RAM
+ nVidia GeForce 8600 GT, driver version 6.14.11.5819
    Computer #2
    + HP Pavilion dv9843cl Laptop
    + Windows Vista x64 SP1
+ Intel Core Duo processor T8100 (2.1 GHz)
    + 4GB RAM
+ nVidia GeForce 8600M GS with 512MB DDR dedicated graphics memory, ForceWare version 167.43
    + Video BIOS version: 60.83.4f.00.22
    Operating System: Windows XP Professional
    Browser: Firefox
Video display card / driver version: nVidia GeForce 8600 GT, driver version 6.14.11.5819
Screen shot (not sure if this works in these forums):

"Place" ..... It is not all the easy to understand how place works without studying its behavior.  Often it will work in a way your not expecting if you do not understand how it works. There is a setting in Photoshop preferences Resize Image during Place. Un Checking this setting does not mean the image will not be resize nor does checking  this setting mean that it will be resize. On top on top of that the seems to be something in Photoshop on My system that keeps changing the setting to the checked state.
What the heck am I writing am I trying to make this worse.  No I'm not.  To prove that I first tell you it is very easy to center position a placed layer in an action after the Place step add a step select all the two layer>Align layers to selection>Horizontal Center then vertical center. The deselect...
    Place....
There is a lot going on remember in Photoshop a Layer can be any size  Larger/smaler/same as the canvas and can have any aspect ratio. If the placed image has more pixels them a canvas side size and the preference is checked the placed image will be transformed to fit within the canvas size. If not checked the placed image will transformed to the same dpi resolution so no pixels will be changed.    The only time a place image is not transformed is when the the preference is not checked and the placed image file has the same dpi as the current Photoshop Document.  In this cast the image is placed in at 100% size be it smaller/larger/same as canvas size.

  • File:Place Function Bug in Snow Leopard (CS4)

Hi all. Have any of you experienced this bug when running Mac OS 10.6.7 (Snow Leopard)...the File:Place function no longer works for text.  I can place graphics/photos, but when I try to place text nothing happens.  Any thoughts about this?  I'm using InDesign CS4.
    Thanks!

I'm a Windows guy, so I'm shooting in the dark at this point. Happens in all files? How about in a new user account?
What has changed recently ont he system? New fonts? Any software updates?
Do you run a font manager?

  • In Firefox 23, with private browsing enabled, why are the addresses of websites visited being added to the file places.sqlite?

In Firefox documentation it is claimed that while a user is in private browsing Cached Web Content, Offline Web Content or User Data will be saved. I am using Firefox beta 23. With 'do not track' and 'private browsing' enabled.
An examination of the file places.sqlite stored in my profile shows it is adding to the file the addresses of every website I visit. This information is not cleared when I close Firefox. When I have closed Firefox I have deleted the file but it reappears unchanged at each fresh machine start.
As I regularly update my versions of Firefox and the file is one carried over with each update the entries in places.sqlite also record my browsing history over a long period - all of it is there whether I had private browsing enabled or not.
How is this true private browsing when this file keeps a complete record of browsing history?

Further to: In order to delete the now very large ''places.sqlite'' I exported my Bookmarks to a html file. Then from my profile I deleted the 9 ''bookmark.json'' files in the folder''' bookmarkbackups'''.
With Firefox shutdown I then deleted ''places.sqlite''. Then with Firefox open I imported the html bookmark file.
The new ''places.sqlite'' generated now only contains the links kept in Bookmarks. I do not yet know if this has solved the problem. I will use the Firefox browser for a couple of days without adding any bookmarks and then check the ''places.sqlite'' file again.

  • VHD file placement on an iSCSI SAN.

I am wondering about VHD file placement when creating a virtual machine. I had created my 3 VHD OS files on the SAN itself and then created and added Pass Through disks to the virtual machines once I logged into each vm. Recently I was told that I should
have created the vhd files on the physical host and then mapped the Pass Though disks on the SAN to each vm. Is that the correct way to do this? I thought the pupose of the SAN was to move your virtuals including the OS VHD files onto the SAN itself? Am I
missing the point or am I being given bad information?
    Thanks

    1) You create a LUN with your SAN (that's vendor-specific and you know better what to do).
    2) You connect to that LUN with all your hypervisor initiators (configure MPIO etc). That's trivial.
    3) You create a CSV on top of this LUN. See:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/clustering/archive/2009/02/19/9433146.aspx
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg610692.aspx
    4) You place your VMs on CSV.
    5) When you need more space for VMs you just grow corresponding VHD(x). See:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn282286.aspx
    That's all... Good luck!

  • Import dimension and member via maxl, how to create data file and rule file

    Hi
I have a task to import dimension and member into Essbase, for project requirement, I have to use text file or spreadsheet file.
I wonder which format can be imported into Essbase?
I tried to create them, failed.
Do you have any samples to help me? dimension file and rule file...
I search a lot in http://gerardnico.com/wiki/epm/essbase/dimension_build#about , but there are no samples.
    Thanks in advance...
    Best regards,
    Samantha

import database Sample.Basic data from data_file 'C:\TEMP\GENREF.txt' using rules_file 'C:\TEMP\GENREF.rul' on error append to 'C:\TEMP\logs\dimbuild.log';Here issue is not with rulefile but in reading the rule file.
I hope rule file is in the database directory (By default it will get saved there only)
    Try with the below command
    import database Sample.Basic data from data_file 'C:\TEMP\GENREF.txt' using server rules_file 'GENREF' on error append to 'C:\TEMP\logs\dimbuild.log';
Rule file also had one issue
Market, Product, Measures, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, DecHere I am seeing only four dimensions from the Sample.Basic database
Scenario is missing. So define Actual (Scenario Dimension member) in the rule file header definition.
All dimensions must be identified to parse one data file with rule file.
PS: Naming (GENREF) is also irrelevant if you are loading data. It is apt for dim load.

  • Capturing file place command

I am placing a word document using File->Place command. I want to capture file place command as I have to show a dialog just after a file is placed.
I have a attached an observer to document. In Update() method I have written following code :
    ICommand* cmd = (ICommand*)changedBy;
    ClassID cmdClass = ::GetClass(cmd);
    ICommand::CommandState cmdState = cmd->GetCommandState();
    do
        if( cmdClass == kPlacePICmdBoss && cmdState == ICommand::kDone )
              this->ShowDialog();
    }while(kFalse);
When I run my plugin dialog is shown two times after placing document ,which should not happen. How I  show my dialog just once.
When debugging call is going inside if block two times.(Therefore 2 dialogs are shown).
Also when I place document other way round i.e first create a text frame and then place document . In that case I am not able to capture file place command.
I also tried to apply resonder for file place signal , but that is also working in only one case(i.e second one and not first one)

  • Multi-Image support for command File- Place

It would be quite time saving . . . "Value Add" to be able to select multiple images in Bridge and be able to do File->Place->Photoshop.
This would create an automation loop such each image that was selected in Bridge would be place by the user consecutively.
Obviously this Architectual change would be usefull in other places . . . not just Place->Photoshop.

    Hi Kruger,
I have already looked into these documentation. Our portal is in version 7.0, so it is not applicable.
I have to maintain the multi language for folders in KM of SAP EP 7.0

  • Whatever happened to the File: Place: In InDesign Script?! I want it back!

Whatever happened to the File: Place: In InDesign Script?! I want it back!

I think Configurator will happen for InDesign CC, just not yet.
For now, you could write a startup script.
I only suggest these as alternatives. It would have been better if Adobe had made it an option. Very heavy handed and another thing that is going to P loyal users off.

  • How to Perform File- Place via Scripting (CS5)

    Hi all,
Photoshop contains the option of directly placing one graphic file onto the currently active layer via the menu with File-> Place.
How do I do this in scripting?
    TIA,
    mlavie

@xbytor2: Thanks for the quick response.
I noticed that File->Place does not bring the image's clipping path along with the image. Does your example do that, and if not, would you have any idea how?
    TIA,

  • I had CS6 and now I have installed CC. I cannot open files, place files, etc directly from the File Open... or File Place...   Is there something I'm missing in CC that I don't know about?

I can open files directly from my Finder window (Mac OS, running latest installment). And I can copy/paste or drag/drop graphics into an open AI file for editing. But I can't use the AI>File>Open... or AI>File>Place... (or any shortcuts). Absolutely nothing happens. It's like I never clicked anything.
Am I missing something???  I've never had this problem in CS6. Is there something different in CC that I need to add or erase?
    HELP!

I didn't realise that the Camera Raw won't work in 64bit mode. Converting to 32bit enabled the files to be opened.
Actually, that's wrong. Camera Raw 6.3 WILL run as a 64-bit plug-in when hosted by Photoshop CS5 if CS5 is running as a 64-bit app. It'll run as a 32-bit plug-in when hosted by Bridge or Photoshop CS5 set to run as 32-bit.
So, there's something else going on here....
How are you trying to open the raw files? From within Bridge or the Finder? How did you update Camera Raw to version 6.3? From the updater? Is ACR 6.3 in the correct install location? main Library (not the User but root), Application Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/CS5/File Formats/Camera Raw.plugin
Can you open raw images from within Bridge? Have you tried to view raw files with Bridge before you updated Camera Raw? Have you trashed the cache foe the folder? In Bridge under Tools/Cache/Purge Cache
