File structure in Sun ONE (aka jForte)

Hi:
I have (and want to use) the following sources file-strcutrue:
src/applet.java
index.htlm
applet.class
But ONE (AFAIK) just allows to work this way (compiling the .class files in the same directory):
index.html
applet.java
applet.class
Does anybody know how can I work separating .class from .java files and execute the project running the applet viewer from the IDE?
Thanks

While following your directions, I noticed that your response isn't quite what I'm looking for. I'm looking to set a new default for the example below.
* ClassName.java
* Created on SomeDay, Some12HourTime
*/Here's what I want the default to be.
* ClassName.java

  • Please HELP!!!!!!!!   Mount a File System in Sun One Studio

    Hi,
I've been trying to get my Java Documentation (on my hard drive...v.1.4.2) to work with Sun One Studio 5 update 1. I have been completely unsuccessful at mounting the documentation so that I could get reference on specific classes. Can somebody PLEASE tell me how I can mount the Javadoc correctly so that it will work and integrate with Sun One Studio 5?!?!?
Thank you very much in advance!!

The JDK documentation is automatically picked up for code completion. For explicit JavaDoc visibility in the Studio, select Tools | JavaDoc Manager and mount the api directory of the JDK documentation root.

  • Bundled Tomcat File Structure and Sun Studio Enterprise 8

I am having trouble using form authorization with Enterprise 8,
    the bundled Tomcat and MySql.
Request clarification on what tomcat-users.xml is used by Ent 8.
I see the following in my configuration:
    1) apache-tomcat-5.5.15-embed/conf/tomcat-users.xml
    2) apache-tomcat-5.5.15/conf/tomcat-users.xml
    3) C:\Program Files\Sun\jstudio_ent8\ide\enterprise1\jakarta-tomcat-5.5.7\conf\tomcat-users.xml
    4) C:\Document and Settings\motel\.jstudio\Ent8\jakarta-tomcat-5.5.7_base\conf\tomcat-users.xml
I assume the first two are some type of windows cached.
Further, #3 I assume is initial or default tomcat-user file.
So is #4 the file that I want to edit so that my IDE can work with Tomcat?
Thank you for any help and guidance,
    Craig

I assume the first two are some type of windows cached.
Further, #3 I assume is initial or default tomcat-user file.I would agree with you; regarding the first two files, it is not clear how they came about since they don't seem to be in either the ide directory or ide-user directory; and also because the directories seem to point to a different version of tomcat, namely 5.15 instead of the ide-bundled 5.7... It is even possible that the first two are not related to JSE ide at all...
Regarding 3 and 4, your guess is right; 3 is the initial installation directory. This directory is not used by the ide at all for actually working with the tomcat server; this is because the ide-userdir is customizable via the command-line. You can have several user directories at the same time and switch between them by running './runide.exe -userdir <this-sessions-user-dir>'. Naturally the different sessions cannot use the same tomcat server since that would lead to conflicts. So the ide first copies the server installation to the current user directory and then runs the tomcat from there.

  • Process.conf file not found after installing Sun One Portal Server 6.0

This extract is from the Sun One Portal Server development guide for logging error or logs in log file. This says that to generate the log, entry should be done to enable logging in process.conf file. I could not find any such file after installing Sun One Portal Server 6.0.

Reporting Errors to the Robot Log File
When problems occur, robot application functions should return an appropriate response status code (such as REQ_ABORTED), and they should also log an error inthe error log file.
To use the error-logging functionality, you must include the file log.h in thesdk/robot/include/libcs directory. After you have ensured that log.h exists in the correct place, you can use the cslog_error macro to report errors. The prototype is in the following format:
cslog_error(int n, int loglevel, char* errorMessage)
The first parameter is not currently used (may be used in the future) You can pass
    this as any integer.
The second parameter is the log level. When the log level is less than or equal to the log level setting in the file process.conf, the error message is written in the robot.log.

Since removing the log settings from magnus.conf failed to fix the problem, the log settings are probably not the source of the problem.
Did anything else - e.g. ColdFusion configuration changes - occur at about the same time you changed the log settings?

  • Migration of j2ee app from Sun one App Server 6.0  to Sun one 6.5 Server

    Hi all,
Currently I am involved in "J2EE" ear (webapps) migration from Sun One 6.0 to Sun One 6.5 Application Server on solaris os.Since the version and functionlity itself is major change in Sun One Server, my team had decided to build the source file and decided to port to Sun one 6.5 App Server. On doing build and compiling all source files, EJB compiler is failing on Sun one server 6.5.
Our findings on migration was as follows:
Sun one server 6.0 and its EJB compiler internally uses "kfcjdk11.jar" which is the base library to generate ejbs for "Enterprise Archive or ear file " of the application.Hence our application is suceessfully getting compiled and built on Sun one server 6.0 and running pretty fine.
However, "kfcjdk11.jar" still present in Sun One 6.5 server but its not been referred by SUN One 6.5 EJB compiler. So any successfully ear file deployed on 6.0 App Server, can be deployed on Sun One server 6.5. But to test applications/product's cycle, ear file deployed on SUN one 6.5 throws runtime errors and white screen is displayed to the user.
I had already included kfcjdk11.jar file into classpath, still its failing to compile the files.
The one of the error description is as follows:

    Hi,
web applciation uses some of platform specific API which are not portable to App server 7.0 like uda.framework etc.
So to streamline process we are migrating applcaition to 6.5 server and also planning to rewrite whole archietecture to port it to another app server.
    Thanks,

  • Root is running Sun One Directory Proxy Question ?

While i was installing the directory proxy server, i gave all root to own the files? Is Sun One Directory Proxy suppose to run as root or can i run as non-root user ?

You can (and probably should) run as a non-root user, assuming you're running on a port above 1024.
If you've already installed as root, and root owns all the files, the following should theoretically work:
    - Shut down DPS
    - Edit <dps-root>/etc/dpsDefaultConfiguration.ldif, and change the ids-proxy-con-userid attribute to the user ID you would like the server to run as
    - Modify the same entry in the directory server that holds your proxy's configuration information, like:
    ldapmodify -h config_dir_host -p config_dir_port -D "cn=directory manager" -w password
    dn: ids-proxy-con-config-name=<instanceName>,ou=system,ou=dar-config,o=NetscapeRoot
    changetype: modify
    replace: ids-proxy-con-userid
ids-proxy-con-userid: <same value as you put in the LDIF file above>
    - Change the ownership of all the files in the DPS install directory
    - Change over to the user that you selected and try to start the DPS process

  • Sun ONE Studio 4 aka Forte: How to set the output path for classes ?

    Help !
    Beginner's question:
Sun ONE Studio 4 aka Forte:
How to set the output path for classes ?
As default, the class files are created in the same directory as the
    sources.
In opposite, both JBuilder and Together support that there is a tree
with the sources and another tree with the classes.
The first answer I got was "not possible with Forte, but just if you write your own "ANT Build script" !
    a) Please point me to a ready-to-use ANT script for this purpose, if such is available
    b) Is using ANT instead of the MAKE as comfortable ? Besides the separation of sourcecode and classes, I would like to keep everything else to be the same, i.e. I dont want to edit the ANT file if I enlarge the project by directories or files.
    Tia
    Sincerely
    Rolf

You can set S1S's options to place newly created .class files in a specific location.
Identify the compiler that is being used - Open the S1S's Tools/Options window, expand Editing and select Java Sources. Note the Default Compiler value. (If it's one if the Ant options, you use Ant to specify this option, not S1S.)
Open the S1S's Tools/Options window, expand Building/Compiler Types and select the appropriate compiler.
The Properties tab of the compiler has the property Target, which sets the filesystem where the compiler output is directed. If you choose <not set>, the .class files are written to their source directory.
When you set the Target, your change affects all classes that use this compiler.
Very few options can't be set in S1S; the challenge is finding out where they're set!

  • .War file size too large on Sun One WebServer 6.1

We are using Sun One Web Server 6.1. I am trying to deploy a .war file thru the admin interface, and it fails due to the .war file being too large (over 10 megs). I am new to this server and have been looking around to see if there is a config setting somewhere I can modify, but I can't find anything.
Can anyone tell me if I can change the max size, and if so where?
    Thanks very much.

    Try this:
Go to $SERVER_ROOT/bin/https/webapps/admin-app/WEB-INF/web.xml file and make a backup copy. Edit this file and in the servlet webappdeploy, insert an init param named maxUploadSize with a value in bytes specifying the maximum upload size. Example:
    <init-param>
    <param-name>maxUploadSize</param-name>
    <param-value>20000000</param-value>
    </init-param>
Let us know how it goes.
    Thanks

  • Issues in deploying files on sun one application server 8.2.

    Hi,
We have developed a project using java, JSP & Struts Framework. The database used is oracle 9.i. We have created a single war file as it is a small application. Initially we had deployed this project on Tomcat Apachee server and now we have migrated Sun One application server 8.2.
During the deployment process we checked the "Verify" option. This option throws up certain errors for unknown reasons / resaons which we are not able to figure out. How ever if we do not check the "Verify" option the project gets deployed and runs sucessfully on the server.
Here is an extract of the Log file:
    FAILED TESTS :

Test Assertion : All classes in this Web Archive are loadable. Please refer to J2EE 1.4 Specification Section #8.1.2 for further information.
    Test Description : For [ careers.war ]

Please either bundle the above mentioned classes in the application or use optional packaging support for them.
Can some one throw some light onto this issue.

can you run standalone verifier and let us know what results it produces? to run standalone verifier:
    .../bin/verifier <path to your war file>
If it still produces those empty [] in the resukts, then please file a bug.

  • Creating new files in Sun ONE

I just started learning Java and I downloaded the Sun ONE developers tool. I want to know how to create a new Java file from scratch using the code editor in this tool. I looked through the help and there doesn't seem to be a way to do this. I can edit a file, or ad a file to a project, or create a new folder, or create a new project, but there are no instruction is the help for just creating a plain old ordinary individual Java file. Like I said, I'm new to Java, so I'm starting out small, like one file at t atime. Other than using a mregular run-of-the-mill text editor, is there a way to create new Java files in Sun ONE, and if so, how?

    Hi,
Click on the Filesystems tab. Then right click the file system node->choose mount.Mount the directory where you need to create your new java file.
    Once the directory is mounted,
Right click the directory -->choose new --> classes-->Main--->then enter the name of the name ,this willcreate a new java file.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to deploy a WAR file to Sun One Portal Server

Would someone please tell me the instruction of how to deploy a WAR file to Sun One Portal Server 6.2. Thank you.

I would advise against this. We tried that and it totally hosed the server.xml file and took our staging portal server down.
I have no idea what was "in" the server.xml or other files, but trying to deploy a .war file using the WS admin interface hosed portal server's settings.
