File sync software OTHER than iSync -- A writer needsd Help!

I have .Mac accounts and use iSync, etc. for my calendar, bookmarks, contacts, etc. But I am in desperate need of a way to sync two work manuscript folders that are on two separate Macs. I have a Manuscript folder on my laptop and the same folder on my work iMac. I often switch between them without paying attention. Have now discovered (thru my own sloppiness) that the two folders are way out of sync and each probably contains important files that the other one does or doesn't have. Is there a software I can use (wirelessly or not) to "sync" both folders? I don't care if I end up with some duplicate files on each folder. I just don't want to make the tragic error of trashing an"older" folder and discovering it contained files that ar enow missing from the "newer" one. Fine with me if I just put the two folders on the same Mac and do the sync (without .Mac-type sycing). I just need to get it done!! My mansucript folder(s) has so many thousands of files it would take forever go through each subfolder, check file mod dates, etc. Help?-- David

  • Using other software other than i tunes?

Can i use other software other than itunes?. If so ,do i need to use the updator before connecting and synching with other software such as windows media player?.

Yes, you can. But Windows Media Player cannot be used.
Some of the programs you can use are:
    (1) Winamp (with iPod plugin)
    (2) Xplay
    (3) Anapod
Note that these are 3rd party programs which are not supported by Apple. If you elect to use them, you will have to ask the software developers for support.
By the way, why do you want to use another software rather than iTunes?

  • Install downloaded software other than on C: drive

I purchased this morning and downloaded the latest 64 bit version of Elements and Premiere to my E: drive (C: drive has Windows Ultimate 7 64 bit only).
I have six files downloaded - one Application file and 7zArchive file set each for Photoshop Elements, Premier Elements and Premiere Elements Content.
When I ran the Application file for PSE it installed OK - mostly on the E: drive where I directed the install browser - but also put a large number of files on my C: drive under a Program Data directory.
When I run the Premiere Elements Application file it will not install and produces an error message along the lines of 'insufficient space or admin rights'.
I am guessing that as there is now only 3GB free on the C: drive this is why I am getting the failed install (I have the admin rights).
So how can I install the whole - or majority of files - on the E: drive where there is 83GB free?
    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the reply.
    That was what I feared.
Might have been helpful for Adobe to publish exactly what space - and where is required - in a pre-download checklist.
I can't think of any other software we have - other than the operating system - which HAS to be on the C: drive.

  • File Recovery Software - Cheaper than Subrosasoft?

Is there any software for recovering accidentally deleted files that is cheaper than subrosasoft.com ($80)?
Or demo software with a fully functional demo period (that lets you save what you've found)?
    Or ideally shareware/freeware!

Data Rescue II has a demo. It will only allow you to save one file no bigger than 500k. It cost more though for a full working version.

  • What happens if i use a software other than itunes to transfer music?

    Hello people,
Im new to apple and its softwares, tricks..etc.
So the question is i purchased some stuff from itunes i would like to have in phone and i also have loads of music in my pc that were taken from old cds etc...after my research i noticed there is a itune match or someting that can allow you do that with a 25$/year cost which i agree is not much and  i might end up doing it  but i don't find it right to NOT HAVE FULL control over my stuff...so is there anyway to be able to transfer these old songs into iphone without using itunes without any risk or problem?

  • Windows 8.1 installation Keep personal files option - does it delete files in drives other than c

i am installing windows 8.1 . I am not getting an option to select custom installation. Does this delete files in my drives other than C?
I want to install windows in c drive and want to keep the files in my D and E drives. What to do?

    Hi,
No matter which method do you use, it would not affect your D and E drive if you don't format them during your installation.
Which version of Windows was running on your computer now? "Upgrade" option is only available when a supported version of Windows is already running on the computer.
Please refer to the following table to check if you could keep some file:

Your phone is only developer unlocked if you have paid to have it unlocked. Even when it is unlocked it can still only run apps that are designed to work on that phone and software.

  • What software other than outlook can I use with iphone 5c for contacts, email and calendar?

What software will work with iPhone 5c where I can manage all contacts, emails and calendar and sync with my business desktop computer? From what I have seen from co-workers Microsoft outlook and iPhone doesn't work well together.

But the problem is, that it Did used to do this. It synced for a year and a half and now only in the past four months has it not synced...
    Any thoughts?

  • Sync videos other than purchased from iTunes

I ripped my own videos (concerts, etc.) using Handbreak software, but I can not manage to sync them to Apple TV. What should I do? and How should I do it? any dieas? thanks in advance

What format are your videos in? Maybe you should use the one-button conversion of QT pro (for movs and avis) or iMovie (for DV) to rip them for ATV.

  • Organizer software - other than Outlook?

    I'd like some recommendations, please.
I got my BB Curve 8320 all set up and everything moved from my Palm Treo 680 to the BB - no problems.  Then I moved Contacts from the Palm software to Outlook Express.  They all showed up even though some of the fields were screwed up ... no problem, I fixed that.
But I HATE Outlook Express, don't use it for email, it has no calendar or tasks ...
Do you have any recommendations for organizer software that has contacts, calendar and tasks that will sync well with BB Desktop Manager and my device?  I'm running XP on my PC.
    Thanks!
    Jagergwen

Okay, I found Outlook ... it was there.  So, I decided to bite the bullet and at least use it to sync with my BB.  However ... BB Desktop Manager wouldn't let me finish the configuration process because I don't have Outlook set up as my default email client - it doesn't even show up on the available applications.  Well, I'm NOT going to use Outlook as my email client - not now, not ever.
Is there some trick to this?  I'm getting a bit frustrated.
    Thanks ...
    Jagergwen

  • File Sync software?

I would like to sync my desktop folders with iDisk, which software do you recommend?
    Freeware preferred.

If you were a Dot Mac (or Mobile Me user) Apple make a great app called Backup just for that purpose.
If you have a little cash, I'd suggest you look at http://decimus.net/ I use their products for several clients and have been very happy with the results.
No doubt there are some "free" options out there.. I'm just not aware of them.

  • I'm looking for a backup software other than TimeMachine

    Hi,
I really don't need to backup my whole HD (250GB). I only need to backup my music folder and iPhoto folder. Time Machine can only backup the whole harddisc. Can somebody recommend a tool/application that makes this possible?

Super Duper is an excellent program with plenty of options. I would wait for the next update. I decided to try it and here's what happened: Super Duper allows one to set your back up Firewire drive up as bootable "clone". It will copy over either all files, user files, or just files that have been changed since the last back up. Normally, whatever version of OSX is installed on the back up drive remains unaffected by a back up. You have to boot up from the clone and then run software update on it, or do an install for a major revision. My iMac had been updated to Leopard but I left the back up clone in Tiger on purpose. Unfortunately after the last back up the clone is now showing itself as a 10.5 disk in the Startup Disk menu and will no longer boot nor can I repair permissions. I will have to either install Leopard on it or re-install Tiger. By the way, my Leopard iMac won't run the Tiger install disk anymore. I guess I'll have to use an older G3 iBook I still have.
