File- XI- RFC produces no output on remote system...

My RFC call is not producing the output I expected.
(scenario: file ->XI->remote RFC call)
When I go into the debugger for the RFC and plug in the
same values as in my text file, I get no error messages, and
I get my desired output (creates a Purch Request on remote system).
However, when set up to run from within XI, there is no output.
Questions --
1. Where on the remote system can I look for possible error msgs?
    ABAP dump analysis shows no entries for this RFC
    SM58 RFC log has no entries.
2. SXMB_MONI on XI shows no error msgs.  Where else can I look?
    No dumps on XI either.

>. Check if the RFC needs explicit commit, if so handle the same in the receiver RFC adapter.
   Commit is in the RFC.  It works, at least when run in debug mode on remote system.
>2. Check if there is any conversion exit needs to be done for any field.
     I found some earlier problems with the input file, but fixed them.
     Plugging the same exact values into the debugger nets a result.
>3. For testing purpose you can try with a sync call so that you will have the return parameter as response so you can debug easily.
      Haven't tried this one yet.
>4. Did you check the Adapter /communication channel monitoring and is it succesful?
     Yes, the commx channel is working.  I know the RFC is being run, since I had previous
     errors that showed up in the remote systems dumps.  Fixed those problems, but now
     I get no feedback and no output.

  • Get interface of RFC function modules in a remote system

    Hi,
    my goal is to write a report which checks if DDIC structures in two systems fit together when I use RFC`s.
    I have the destination and the name of the RFC.
    Can somebody tell me if I can get a list of the Importing/Exporting Parameters of this RFC? Maybe even with a typedescribtion?
    Thanks for you help.

  • Display files/directories of a remote system (RIO) on a host machine (PC)

    Hello,
    Please assume that we are discussing software built on the standard "Labview FPGA Control on Compact RIO" sample project. The host is a standard PC running LV14 Fall edition, the remote system is an sbRIO-9636 having an SD card and a USB HDD attached. The objective is process control. The process being controlled is not relevant to the question.
    This question is about implementing the following functionality: the user operates a host machine running a Labview user interface vi (UI Main.vi) locally on the host machine. Part of this vi must offer the user a built in dialogue (some express vi or another) or custom dialogue (a bespoke vi displayed on demand). The dialogue must display the directories and files of the remote system which runs RT Main.vi and it must allow the user to select a single XML file on the remote system (which contains some generic configuration information). The name of the file will then be passed to the remote system and the remote system will act to open it and populate some configuration variables.
    I am sure that a widely used solution exists for this problem but I've not found the right words to type into my favourite search engine yet to produce the result. I propose the following:
    1) User clicks a "select config file" button on UI Main.vi
    2) The UI Main.vi event loop enqueues a message on the UI Main message queue based on the value change event caused by the button press
    3) The UI Main.vi message loop enqueues a separate message on to the "UI Command Stream" network stream
    4) The RT Main.vi, RT Loop - UI Commands.vi subvi receives the message from the stream and enqueues it on the RT Main.vi message queue
    5) The RT Main.vi message loop performs some functions to read the disk structures, directories and file names from the RT system
    6) The file and directory name data in (5) is converted to a variant and is passed along with a suitable message into the RT Writer network stream
    7) The UI Main.vi periodically reads the RT Writer network stream (it's in the "monitoring loop") and enqueues the received message (from 6) into the UI message queue
    8) The UI Main message queue populated the UI Main front panel with the data
    9) The user selects the directory and file they desire and clicks an "ok" button
    10) The ok button click causes the event loop of UI main to enqueue a message in UI Main.vi's message queue due to the value change on the ok button
    11) The UI Message loop enqueues a message on to the "UI Command Stream" network stream with the selected fully qualified file name of the selected file as the data (stored as variant)
    12) The RT Main.vi, RT Loop - UI Commands.vi subvi receives the message from the stream and enqueues it on the RT Main.vi message queue
    13) The RT Main.vi message loop opens the XML file and populated the appropriate variables with the configuration options therein.
    The user should be able to cancel the dialogue and avoid using a configuration file but I have not delt with that here.
    Now for the questions:
    1) Is this a logical approach?
    2) Are there any suggestions for a better way?
    3) Any links to some pre-written code that will allow me to impliment all or part of this with minimum effort (I'm thinking here of the dialogue box bit rather than the network streams and events bit as those structures are extant and have lots of bespoke code already in them)?
    Thanks,
    James
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Bob,
    Thanks for your input. You're right I have used network streams.
    I implimented more or less what I said in my original post. It works. My main objective was to keep all the config stuff, and data for the particular target on the target's SDCard. On reflection that did make my life much harder than keeping stuff on the host.
    It is more (quite a lot more) involved to keep the config files on the target and send directory info etc. back to the host on demand. If I was to do this again I would probably keep the config files on the host machine and keep them in Dropbox or a Google drive so that if I had more than one host to work from (Work PC, Home PC and Laptop...) I would have all my files with little effort. Still I didn't konw that when I started.
    Thanks,
    James

  • ARD Hangs/Stops Responding when trying to "control" a remote system

    I'm having the toughest time with a new setup for a client. Recently the client purchased 3 brand new Mac Mini systems, and I purchased a Sandy Bridges MBP 13".
    After configuring the network and installing the Mac Mini's, I setup ARD so that I could remote desktop in to the systems for remote assistance and support. We purchased the Apple Remote Desktop administrator software from the Mac Store ($79.99 application). The administrator software seems to work great up until the point I try to "control" the remote device. I can schedule tasks, create remote users, modify files, remote upload/download files, and even observe or curtain the remote system. However, as soon as I click on "control" or start the session as observe and then attempt to take control of the remote system, ARD hangs and I'm forced to quit.
    I have attempted a fresh installation on all systems to see if there was something cooky that happened, and I'm always exhibiting the same problem.
    Does anyone have any suggestions of where to start? I feel like a fool, as I've spent $80 on a piece of software, that is absolutely useless to me as an IT admin... :\
    I appreciate any ideas!
    Regards,
    Jordan W.

    ...unfortunately the only way I was able to fix the problem was to re-format and fresh install the administrator computer.
    I'm going to mark as answered, even though it was not.

    You are trying to use a custom class as a return type?
    The return type needs to be JAX-B compatible
    see: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17802_01/webservices/webservices/docs/2.0/tutorial/doc/JAXWS3.html
    You should avoid using user defined complex types as much as possible because they require the clients to be able to process them as well making your webservice less portable and thus defeating the main advantages of webservices.

  • Exe file not producing the output files

    Could anyone please help me with my exe file. I have an exe file "exeFile" which takes more than one file as input from the source "c:/files" and produces some files as output into the destination "c:/files". Both my source and destination is same. My code given below is neither showing any error nor outputting any files. My code is:
    private static void compilingFiles() throws IOException
         String FirstParam = "C:/files";
         String SecondParam = "C:/files";
         Process proc =Runtime.getRuntime().exec("cmd /c start /MIN C:/files/exeFile " + FirstParam, (String[])null, new File(SecondParam));
    }

    After going through The reference, I modified my code as under. My first exe file "tex" is doing the necessary as before, that is producing the output files to the destination, but the second exe file "fi2t1" is not producing the necessary output.
    My output after running this file is:
    <ERROR>
    </ERROR>
    Process exitValue1: 0
    <ERROR>
    </ERROR>
    Process exitValue2: 0
    <ERROR>
    </ERROR>
    Process exitValue1: 0
    <ERROR>
    </ERROR>
    Process exitValue2: 0
    <ERROR>
    </ERROR>
    Process exitValue1: 0
    <ERROR>
    </ERROR>
    Process exitValue2: 0
    So as per The reference, I think my code is right - "So, MediocreExecJavac works and produces an exit value of 2. Normally, an exit value of 0 indicates success; any nonzero value indicates an error.".
    So please tell me where am I wrong. My code is:
    import java.io.BufferedReader;

    Hi Srinath,
    Thanks for your reply. It worked fine with 8.63 version.
    Is there any other way to get it worked with out installing ghostscript.exe as the client doesnt want to instal any exe file on the server as it has broader impact on other instances also, can we acheive the conversion by copying the extracted zip files of ghostscript-8.63.tar.gz .....
    We tried with extracted zip files by following the below settings

  • Which AirHelp option produces less output files?

    Hello All,
    My help topics were created using RH8, and am looking into other web base help solution due to the large amount of files that Web Help currently outputs. For example, Adobe Air in RH8 has the following Output Types:
    Adobe Air Application,
    Browser based help,
    Air Application AND Browser based help, and
    Help Content.
    My ultimate goal is simply to have a compact output file (e.g., like a CHM file) so my developer can incorporate into his workflow solution (SharePoint 2010) to automatically deploy my web help to not just the central admin server but also all sub-servers. The initial approach of incorporating the help files (currently using RH WebHelp) into the install package did not address that scenario. Unfortunately, for him, he cannot dynamically include all the files into the solution; they must be included one-by-one, which is pain and will cause issues if new files are added later on. Hence, my inquiry to find another web help platform output to reduce the number of files needed to be included in the solution.
    In closing, what do you recommend out of Adobe Air web help solution?
    Thank you all for your time and consideration,
    ~PM

    Jeff will not be online yet. The AIR file is a single file but not the same as a CHM. A CHM is what the user opens. An AIR file is a bit like a zip file and it installs the AIR help on the user's PC as a program. Within Program Files, it looks much like WebHelp.
    You will need a freely available licence from Adobe if you are also going to install the AIR runtime that will be needed. See the AIR topics on my site.
    With that said, I don't think AIR of any type is your solution any more than a CHM is. The latter is designed to be run from the user's PC and not a server. See http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/chm_mspatch/896358.htm
    Quite simply, short of a PDF help file, there isn't a single file help option designed to run from web servers. What seems odd here and where more information is needed is why your developer cannot upload webhelp. Something is not ringing right here.

  • Server Core 2008 R2 SP1 - AD DS Best Practice Analyzer Scans Don't Produce Any Output

    Hi,
    This is a re-post moving this discussion to the recommended forum "Server Core" from here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winservergen/thread/cc33d429-88e0-4450-a73c-361e395fd217.
    I am having problems producing any output for any AD DS Best Practice Analyzer Scans on a Windows Server Core 2008 R2 SP1 Domain Controller.
    I have imported the "ServerManager" and "BestPractices" PS modules on that Server by running the following commands:
    Import-Module ServerManager
    Import-Module BestPractices
    I've then run
    get-BPAModel, to find out what best practice scan models are availale, this returns the following output:
    Id
    LastScanTime
    Microsoft/Windows/DirectoryServices     Never
    Microsoft/Windows/DNSServer               Never
    I then run all the BPA scans on that box:
    Get-BPAModel | Invoke-BPAModel
    This returns the following output:
    ModelId
    Success  Detail
    Microsoft/Windows/DirectoryServices True       (InvokeBpaModelOutputDetail)
    Microsoft/Windows/DNSServer          True       (InvokeBpaModelOutputDetail)
    Since the BPA invocation results weren’t displayed automatically, I entered the following command to see them:
    Get-BPAModel | Get-BPAResult | Out-File "D:\Source\BPA.txt"
    This command will create a text file with the scan results but I only see the results of the DNSServer scan, not the DirectoryServices scan.
    I have also tried to view the results in a HTML format by running the following command but still only see the DNSServer scan results:
    Get-BPAModel | Get-BPAResult | ConvertTo-Html | Set-Content d:\Source\BPA.htm
    I have also tried exeucuting the scan ONLY for the "Microsoft/Windows/DirectoryServices" model but can't get any results to be returned.  I have also connected using server manager from a Full install of Server 2008 R2 SP1 but that
    doesn't seem to show any results under the "Best Practices Analyzer" section when the "Active Directory Domain Services" node is selected, all 4 tabs ("Noncompliant", "Excluded", "Compliant" and "All") show zero (0).  However, the summary text above the
    tabs does show when the last scan was performed. which seems to be correct.
    Is there something special that needs to be done to produce the BPA results for the "Microsoft/Windows/DirectoryServices" BPA model on Server Core 2008 R2 SP1?
    BTW: The Forest/Domain is W2K3R2 Native, this is the first W2K8R2 DC in the environment and I have installed .NET 4 framework (Server Core) to support Powershell 3, also installed.
    Thanks, Paul.

    Hi Diana,
    OK, pretty sure I've now found the root cause of the issue I've described above.
    I was also looking into Windows Update Agent issues for these W2K8R2 Server Core DC's, where no updates would be applied via WSUS (configured via GPO) and would fail with "FATAL: CBS called Error with 0x8000ffff windows update agent server
    core".
    Yesterday, I managed to get one of the W2K8R2 Server Core DC's (WSUS updates) working again by removing one of the .NET 4 Framework security updates (KB2600211) which was manually applied when the server was initially setup.  .NET 4 (Server Core Edition
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=22833) was installed as a pre-requisitie for Powershell 3.  Once this update was removed, the affected server core DC was restarted and WSUS updates started to get applied.
    So I followed the same procedure on the other server core DC but this did not resolve the WSUS issue this time.  Next, I did further investigation into the Windows Update Agent problem.  This led me to the following article:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/brad_rutkowski/archive/2008/07/03/windows-update-fails-with-8000ffff-e-unexpected.aspx which described an issue with NTFS permissions being set incorrectly on C: drive, with the "BUILTIN\Users" group completely
    missing on the C: drive.
    I found the affected Server Core DC also had this issue and when the "BUILTIN\Users" was assigned permissions on the C: drive as described above, and the Windows Update Agent re-started, the Server Core DC started to install all required updates
    configured via WSUS.
    Next, I ran the Directory Service BPA, which now produces the desired output either locally or remotely via Server Manager.
    Therefore, I can only assume that the Directory Service BPA also uses "Network Service" much like WUAUSERV (Windows Update Agent), which requires access to the C: drive via the "BUILTIN\Users" assignment.
    So this has subsequently led me to check the C: drive (%systemdrive%) permissions across multiple W2K8R2 machines, all of which showed differing assigned permissions, as follows:
    1. W2K8R2 Server Core DC - With Directory Services BPA and Windows Update Agent Not Working
    C:\>icacls c:\
    c:\ BUILTIN\Administrators:(OI)(CI)(F)
        CREATOR OWNER:(OI)(CI)(IO)(F)
        NT AUTHORITY\INTERACTIVE:(OI)(CI)(RX)

        BUILTIN\Users:(CI)(IO)(WD)
        CREATOR OWNER:(OI)(CI)(IO)(F)
    3. W2K8R2 Full DC - With Directory Services BPA and Windows Update Agent Working OK
    C:\>icacls c:
    c: NT SERVICE\TrustedInstaller:(F)
       NT SERVICE\TrustedInstaller:(CI)(IO)(F)
       NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(M)
       NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)(IO)(F)
       BUILTIN\Administrators:(M)
       BUILTIN\Administrators:(OI)(CI)(IO)(F)
       BUILTIN\Users:(RX)
       BUILTIN\Users:(OI)(CI)(IO)(GR,GE)
       CREATOR OWNER:(OI)(CI)(IO)(F)
    4. W2K8R2 Server Core DHCP Server (Migrated from W2K3 with Server Migration Tools) - With DHCP BPA and Windows Update Agent Working OK
    C:\>icacls c:
    c: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)(F)
       BUILTIN\Administrators:(OI)(CI)(F)
    5. W2K8R2 Server Core DHCP Server (Migrated from W2K3 with netsh) - With DHCP BPA and Windows Update Agent Working OK
    C:\>icacls c:
    c: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM:(OI)(CI)(F)
       BUILTIN\Administrators:(OI)(CI)(F)
       BUILTIN\Users:(OI)(CI)(RX)
       BUILTIN\Users:(CI)(AD)
       BUILTIN\Users:(CI)(IO)(WD)
       CREATOR OWNER:(OI)(CI)(IO)(F)
    None of the above servers have a Group Policy or any in-house scripts defined that configure C: drive permissions.  It seems odd that there should be such a variance in the C: (%systemdrive%) drive permissions across the above servers, with only
    scenarios 2 and 5 above have matching permissions.  I can only imagine that maybe some software or software update might be causing this.
    By reviewing the above output, it seems there is also a difference between the C: drive permissions of W2K8R2 Server Core and W2K8R2 Full.  Not sure if this is by design?
    Is there any Microsoft Documentation describing what the default %systemdrive% NTFS permissions should be for W2K8R2 Server Core and Full.  Furthermore, do these permissions change when the various infrastructure roles are installed and enabled i.e.
    Domain Controller, DHCP etc.  I ask, since I would like to use the correct set of permissions for %systemroot% in each scenario. Please advise if I should be asking this question in a different forum?

  • Central 5.5 hanging/stuck while producing PDF output

    Hi
    We have been using Central 5.5 has been in use 3+ yrs with 80+ designs producing output to Printer & PDF. Generally speaking things are OK. Recently we have encountered a problem whereby Central appears to be hanging and it has been when processing a .dat to produce a PDF. the problem does not always occur so its hard to pinpoint the problem.
    I have reported the problem to Adobe VAR & Adobe for their support, meanwhile I would appreciate if any forum users could advise as to possible causes of the problems we are encountering.
    the following is the problem description - probably best to start at bottom of this posting and work up thru the mails
    thanks in advance
    George

    =================================
    18/11/2008
    User site are encountering an intermittent problem on the JF Server, first occurred 29/10 and then occurred yesterday and today
    They tell me it seems to be specific to one particular IFD/Design when its used to create a PDF output file. It does not fail each time that the IFD/Design is used.
    Typically when they get errors with .dat .IFD mismatches etc. a file would be created in /error/ and the next file in /data/ would be processed, but in this instance the JF Server is freezing intermittently - when processing particular files - no files created/posted to the /error/ directory
    User site identify the problem file by filename of lowest sequence no. / date-time stamp - they then remove the file from the /data directory and then stop and start the JF service to get going again. When they put the offending .dat back in /data then it fails again, however if they copy the file creating copy_of_filename.dat and put copy_of_filename.dat in /data then the copied file processes ok !!!
    could there be something funny about the original file, some sort of byte corruption that is resolved when the file is copied/saved again.
    have you ever experienced anything like this ?
    User site get an error message on the JF server when the problem file causes the hang/stuck service - its the most immediate e-mail below - there is a complete snail on this problem staring at the bottom of this mail working back up.
    Do Adobe have any information regarding problems that could cause the JF Server to hang/freeze.
    Have you any thoughts/suggestions - could you forward this problem to Adobe
    Additionally, could any problem arise if McAfee Anti-Virus On-Access scan is turned "ON" on the JF Server, could there be any conflict of McAffee and JF both accessing a file at same time.
    Rgds

    Hi
    This problem has been experienced again, although this times its with a different Design/Form, still using version 5.5
    The "business application" creates the dat files using a unique sequential filename and then copies the files to the JF-data directory. While JFserver processing a dat to produce a PDF the following error occurred on the server.

    From a user perspective, when they look in the JF-data directory there could be one or a no. of files present. It would be the earliest of these files that is causing the problem, that JF is failing to process/merge the earliest of the dat files, and the server throws an error.

    When the "problematic" dat file is removed from the data directory the other files process OK.
    There are approx 100 different Designs/forms being produced and these could be either printer or PDF outputs. Remote users of the application receive PDF outputs.
    The Design/MDF file in question has not changed in recent months.
    The Design/Form where the problem occurs would be used a no. of times every day, on same day both ealier and later documents produced OK for the same form. This would therefore indicate that the cause of the problem is specific to the .dat file, that the file is either corrupted or that some value in the .dat is causing the problem.
    Each dat file for PDF generates a new unique PDF filename to be created, to ensure destination-output pdf filename does not already exist on the jfserver.
    The problematic dat file was copied to another machine and the following scenarios tested:-
    1) one of the data field values was changed, the file saved and then re-submitted to the JFserver, the problem still occurred.
    2) amended the job line to just change the destination pdf filename, the file then re-submitted to the JFserver and the problem did not occur, PDF produced OK.
    3) without changing the destination pdf filename, amended the job line to include the logging commands -v-10 -n0 , the file then re-submitted to the JFserver and the problem did not occur, PDF produced OK.
    This seems to indicate that by making a change to the JOB line and saving the file and resubmitting that it works OK.
    System is printing hundreds and sometimes thousands of documents per day and this problem occurs only occasionally, all very strange.
    I have been reluctant to turn on the logging commands -v-10 -n0 fulltime for all the forms as I rekon this may result in an overhead on the JFserver while may affect the production time of documents and have a negative impact on users if print production time is noticably slower.
    I also have available the log file produced with the increased verbosity, but this is from a successful production of the pdf.
    (I can make this available - e-mail me on [email protected]).
    Any suggestions on cause/identification of this problem appreciated

  • ERROR  IN  FILE--XI--RFC SCENARIO.  BAPI  did not UPDATE the DATABASE TABLE

    Hi
    I have created a scenario  FILE -XI- RFC
    File is picked by file adapter  - Its working fine
    I have used BPM
    In RFC side  i used BAPI_INCOMINGINVOICE_CREATE
    Its working fine and return an Invoice Number and Fisical year .
    When i Check this in the R/3 System , in Invoice no Does not Exist .
    Message mapping is ok
    SXMB_MONI all are ok
    Receiver file i got the invoice no and fisical year .
    The Problem is " DATABASE TABLE DID NOT UPDATED "
    So  should i do BAPI_COMMIT seperately ........
    Any solution ................
    VERY VERY URGENT .....
    thanks in advance

    hi jude,
    Commit Control for Single BAPI Calls
    If you want to use this communication channel to call BAPIs as remote-enabled function modules that change data in the database, set the indicator.
    If executed successfully, the transaction is written to the database by calling the function module BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT explicitly. If an error occurs, the transaction is rolled back by BAPI_TRANSACTION_ROLLBACK.
    The result is determined by the value of the field TYPE in parameter RETURN. If successful, the tables are empty and the values “”, “S”, “I”, and “W” are displayed. All other values are regarded as errors.
    To change this setting, set the indicator BAPI Advanced Mode.
    <b>In the Successful RETURN-TYPE Values table, enter the values that should lead to a successful execution.</b>
