Hi,
I would like to Extend the files Sales org/Division/distribution upto 40 Char.
As per Standard SAP it has provided 20 char......
and Moreover and client wants 20 char in Customer master(All filed)

Dear Raj
No not possible to change the standard fields length. If it is a zee field, then it is possible. Moreover as you are aware fields in SD will integrate with all other modules in many places and if you change in one place, it will not be copied in all other modules and this will definitely affect the performance and throw errors which you cannot find out the root cause.
Even if you try to change forcibly with the help of ABAPer, I doubt whether SAP will support in case you have any issues arising out of this.

Format for a Mac vs PC

Hi,
I have never asked this before but I would like to have a betterunderstanding, I have seen this a lot, when you buy a new external hard drive that says “ready formatted for mac”or in some tutorials on the internet they recommend ... “format for Mac before you use your new HD ” and I have noticed that in some cases I have not formatted my new external HDs and they just worked, so I was wondering what’s the difference between a formatted HD for PC vs Mac.
Can some explain the differance between a formatted HD for PC vs Mac or direct me to where I can find some info about formatting types?
Does this mean that I cannot use the same hard drive for both a PC and Mac? In otherwords this means that I cannot switch a HD back and forward between a PC and a Mac? I haven’t tried this since I’m afraid to corrupt the files other HD itself but it would be nice to know if this is possible.
Can some explain a little bit about the different format types?

Mac uses a filing system called HFS+ [Hierarchical Filing System Extended] for writing files to a drive. Windows uses a filing system called NTFS [New Technology Filing System]. The older Windows system was FAT(32) [File Attribution Table-- 32-bit]. Mac can read and write to HFS+ and FAT32 but can read only from NTFS (without third-party plug-ins). Most commercially-available external drives are formatted so that Windows users can put the drives into service without any preparation for their machines; this means that most drives from BestBuy etc are formatted FAT32, which creates no problems for general usage with a Mac. In order to use such a drive for Time Machine you would have to re-format to HFS+. That is the message you would get if you decided to use such a drive for Mac backup. The Time Machine process would happily do that for you to prepare the drive. However, it is possible to do that hands-on yourself by using Disk Utility. When a drive isuch as a LaCie or G-Tech is purchased from an Apple Store or Apple Reseller the drive is already formatted HFS+ for Mac users which is why the box label would read that it is ready for Mac (but not for Windows!).
As a rule of thumb, I clean a drive before I ever begin to write files to it by using Disk Utility to erase and format. That way the drive is doulble-checked for bad sectors before use where your important files will be stored. If you have already written files to a drive then it cannot be re-formatted without wiping it clean because the allotment sectors have to be prepared on an empty drive. Don't be confused about partitioning since a drive already formatted in HFS+ using the GUID Partition Table can be partitioned 'on the fly' (so to speak) without erasing the files.

Setting the function module from sap r/3 to EWM ?

Hi Gurus,
Here i have one question, that I have a FM that will cut first 5 digits of Track number,,,so my issue is that tracking number are comming from EWM to R/3 both are in different servers, EWM also SAP component,,,so now the same functionality i have to settup between the R/3 to EWM.
Pls advice guys,,,,,,,need to resolve it.

Actually this functionality is modifyed for the DM( Third party) To sap R/3 FM name is Z_BV_DMPLUS_ORDER_SHIPPED .Right now is working for DM TO r/3.Now they want to use EWM for some plants insted DM+ , so data is comming to EWM from legacy and From EWM to R/3 have to setup work for the same functionality,,,,Let me if you need any more information ,,,,That cut of 15 OUT OF 22 and updating in Handling unit in VL02N,,,,that filed lenght is only 20,,,SO when the track number > 20 then cutting of 7 digits and rest of the digits has to update ,first 7 are accounting number of client.

No database table exists for table ZTAB1 after ORA-01438

Dear friends,
We have a problem in our test system.
One developer performed a transport which tried to change column from length 11 to 10 and after the transport, table is missing from database. We observed ABAP dumps DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR with ORA-01438 which suggested us that there was some problem with field lenght change. After discussin, we have find out the culprate filed.
But, with me now problem is Partially active table which Does not exist in the database.
So now, what i should do to fix this problem.. Shuld i again increase filed length manually in test system and then try to perform SE14>Continue adjustment or what ?
In SE14 : Analyze Adjustment provide this information :
Seq of steps
   1 Initialization
   2 Dropping of indexes, renaming of original table
   3 No action
   4 Activation of transparent table
   5 Conversion of data to new table, deletion of renamed table
   6 Creation of sec. indexes
    Adjustment terminated in step 5

I had tried to reactivate table.. but it will not work as I had Terminated conversion : Adjustment terminated in step 5.
database object itself was not existent.. so consistency check is not helpful.
We recognized the problem.. at present, we have DDIC object for table with a field length 10(new lenght), a QCMtable which contains original data with filed lenght 11(Old value) and a conversion table QCM8table which has filed lenght 10(new value).
Now, in my case, original table had some Rows for that column lenght 11 and it was unable to transfer them to QCM8table.
I had raised an OSS to SAP.

Geo Location Custom Form is not Being Used

Hi Experts,
I extended the Geo Location class and added a few fields that I needed. Also in the same XML/MP I added a custom form for it using Authoring Tool. Imported the management pack and didn't get any error. But when I open any locations still it uses the default
form rather than the custom one I created. Is there any dll or any other file that I should inject into SCSM folder? Is there any where I can troubleshoot why my custom form is not loading.
My SCSM is 2012 R2 with UR5 and Authoring Tool is on version 2012 R2 (7.5.3079.0).

Vendor Master Upload error in LSMW

Dear Forum members
While Uploading Vendor Master data through LSMW
i completed all steps upto read data upto this step i am not facing any issue after converting data system display converted data in display converted data it is showing some error in sort key in text file i mentioned sortkey 002 but system display 201..ie instead of 002 system diplay 201
finally i run batch input session it is showing error in batch input session bacuse of sort key
is there any possibility to change sort key 002 in lsmw for all master records at a same time because i can't change manually i have thousands of vendors
Any one Have idea about this issue Plz give me a solution

Hi ,
First of all if i am not wrong then your vendors are not created rite .
So if you want to keep the sort key as 002 then i LSMW in field mapping you can keep the sort key as constant 002 .
The error that you are facing might be due to field lenght , i guess at the time of selection of file you would not have selecte the TAB DELIMITED selection so due to filed lenght the field might have ovelapped .
So to sum up in the input file you can remove the column for sort key and in field mapping put the sort key as constant .

You can't delete the All On My Mac as it is an automatic group to display all of the contacts that are stored "On My Mac." You can delete all of the contacts that are in the ON MY MAC section by selecting All ON My Mac and then selecting all contacts. Press delete and approve the deletion. Then, select each group under ON My Mac and delete those individually.
Then, Make sure iCloud is set as the default account in the General Address Book Preferences.

Database conversion on very lg tables when extending lenght of InfoObject

Hello Gurus,
We need to extend the lenght of an InfoObject which is contained in a number of DSOs. These DSOs are very large (altogether about 1billion records). When we transport the change to the InfoObject SAP forces us to run a database conversion (in SE14) on all the underlying tables of the DSOs (Change Log and Active Tables) which contain the InfoObject we're changing. However, this is taking a very long time as SAP is doing a large number of SQL SELECT statements etc on the data in these tablese. However, the InfoObject doesn't have an ALPHA conversion on it and all we want is to change the DDIC definition - we do not want SAP to start copying data, renaming tables, selecting data etc. Has anyone else come across this and does anyone know if there's a way to do this without having to do the database conversion in this way - i.e. where it doesn't access the data.....?

This is going to seem a plum of a question in this forum, but i've had to register to gain access relating to the problem i have... Well, not exactly a problem but an unneccessary addition !
I had to format my hard drive and had to install XP Pro Service pack 1A instead of the original service pack 1. Java plugin has been removed from the service pack, and because i needed to access web pages containing java code, i downloaded the java plugin... I thought !
I now have a program called Java web start, which opens with options for notepad, Draw 4, Military Game and swingset 2...
I want to un-install the program, and install only the plug in - so could someone plant me a Hyperlink to somewhere i can download ONLY the plug-in, and not the actual program...
I've looked at some of the demo's... but haven't even grasped the concept of what the program is actually for... so there isn't much chance of me using it for the purpose it was intended, because as i've said, i haven't got a clue what it's all about !

At selection-screen.

if w_strlen gt 4.
message 'Please enter string with length less than 4'.
endif.
Or else, Just make the input field as

p_string(4) type c.
Then no need to validate.

Extend Serial Number Lenght

Hi to all...
We have products (e.g. PC's), where the Serial Number lenght is over 18 digits (e.g. 20 or 27...). Does anybody know how to overcome that problem?

This is not possible as the database table which you are going to update field accepts only 18 char only there is no point in increasing the length

How to extend field lenght for serial number?

Is there any possibility to extend serial number length to 20 char. Std length for Mobile Sim cards ICCID number has the length of 20.

No serial number involved in the Cloud, just the subscription connected to your Adobe ID
As start, you should try to update the data in your profile.

I've unknowingly sold pirated copies of Adobe CS4 Extended on Ebay

And would like to know what I should/could do to help Adobe and bring about some kind of resolution.
It's a bit of a long story, but I'm a top-rated powerseller on Ebay and a few weeks ago I answered an ad on Craigslist for CS4 Extended at $199 a piece. I really had no idea what the software retailed for, but after searching Ebay and finding them selling for an average of about $399-$499, figured they probably went for somewhere around $600-$700. I decided I'd sell them for $299 and make a quick $100 off each sale. And boy did they go fast. I bought 5 copies at first, placed the ad that night and by the time I woke up the next morning they’d all sold. I met the seller again that afternoon and bought four more copies. Again, they sold immediately.
That's when I started feeling a tinge of nervousness. I'm from Seattle, so I didn't really think twice when the seller told me their source was a person who worked at Microsoft and had access to the "Microsoft store" (which is somewhat infamous here because of how cheap you can get software for if you have access). But nine copies? This was just too easy. I took one of my copies and drove across town to Best Buy to see how well it matched up to theirs. And it matched perfectly, but I was stunned at the $900 price tag and therefore the ‘matching up’ did little to help my nervousness. I ran home, hopped on the PC and found that one of my buyers lived about 20 miles from my house. Okay, this was a way to find out for sure! I emailed and called them, but after getting no response I made the decision to drive to their apartment later that afternoon, unannounced, with a copy of the software in hand. Unfortunately they weren't home so I left a note, which essentially stated that I was very sorry for dropping by like this, but my computer's CD Rom wasn't working (which it wasn’t) and wanted to make sure that the software they'd bought was legitimate. I stated that I hoped they wouldn't mind installing in my presence so I didn't end up shipping out the other copies only to end up ripping people off and creating a mess.
It wasn't until the next morning that I heard back from him, via an email stating how rude it was that I came by like that, and to simply mail the software to them and they'd let me know if it didn't work. Although I knew it was a possibility, It definitely wasn't the response I was hoping for. Dang.
In my Ebay ad, I'd promised 2-3 day delivery on the software, so made the horrible decision to go ahead and ship them out that afternoon, keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. After all, these looked real, all the way down to the product ID sticker, pamphlet, CD artwork, etc. If these were fake, then someone went to a LOT of trouble and spent a LOT of money to make them look real. I guess I figured that my chances of them being pirated were pretty slim considering the financial aspect of the alternative. I did a little research and found that just the shrink-wrapping machine would probably have set the "pirater" back a couple of thousand dollars, then the professional looking pamphlet, the box insert, the box itself, the little stickers...this would be one heck of an undertaking. What are the chances someone would have the means to do something like that? Well unfortunately, much higher than I thought.
The first Ebay complaint was filed a few days later and the others soon followed. All the work I’d put in to Ebay began crumbling down around me and I called the man I’d bought them from under the guise of wanting to buy more. We met at a local Burger King and I confronted him about my situation. In response, he repeated what he’d told me the first time I bought them: The software was definitely legitimate and he’d had three different opportunities to install it himself on behalf of his buyers, all of which were successful.
I pointed out that not a single registration code was valid and that some of my buyers had actually called Adobe and were flat-out told by representatives that they’d bought illegitimate software. Every last copy of the software I sold was being returned. I said that I wasn’t concerned as much about his level of culpability, but that I get money back to be able to pay for the accumulating refunds. Of course he seemed sincere in telling me that he’d get back to me, but I haven’t heard a word from him since we parted that day. But something positive did come of the meeting! In parting, I pretended to drive away only to circle back around and see him get into his vehicle (he’d parked quite a distance from our meeting place) and got his license plate number.
The timing of this mess was incredibly horrible because I was moving at the end of last month and it cost me a small fortune. When it came to being able to refund people, I simply didn’t have the money. I called Ebay and Paypal, told them my situation, what had happened, and they covered the refunds for me but informed me that I have two weeks to pay them back before they shut down my account.
I’ve sold on Ebay for over two years and it’s my biggest source of income by far (I’m a waiter by trade otherwise). I’ve lost that now and have only myself and my bad judgment to blame. But I would like this person to be held accountable for his part; even if that means that I have to face consequences myself.
This happened over two weeks ago, but I’ve not called the local police yet because I’m not so sure that they have either the tools or the motivation to pursue something like this. Instead I’ve been scanning Craigslist to make sure he’s not still selling (it seems he’s laying low right now) and figured I’d contact Adobe and see what course of action they’d like me to take. I’m wondering how aggressive they are in making sure piraters are prosecuted and how they go about doing it. Hence this post.
I’m in a financial mess at the moment and have been working a lot of double-shifts lately in my scramble to come up with money; I haven’t had much time to be able to contact Adobe during their office hours and thought I’d write this in the hopes that someone from Adobe will read it and be able to point me directly to someone who handles this sort of thing.
This guy lied to me about successfully installing this software, so I have every reason to believe that he’s knowingly and directly involved in the operation. I still have the returned software. What should I do?

Since your intention was to sell legit software, I'm sorry that you were as much a victim as your buyers were. I don't know what else you could do except report it as others have suggested and pay your customers back. Companies like Adobe don't have the resources to follow up on every individual case of piracy, but they should be interested in tracking down the sources of the big professional counterfeiting rings. Judging from your description of the packages you sold and the cost of producing such packages, I assume they come from such a source.

Adding new column to LOV Page , from extended VO

Hi All,
I did a vo extension regarding a LOV (in maintainence user),to add extra columns required. VO Extension is done and able to see that extended vo in page But iam unable to add those extra fields in my LOV page through personalization .
i.e iam trying to add those columns by giving view instance and view attribute ....and apply .....return to application .......HERE IAM NOT ABLE TO SEE MY ADDED FILED . Can any one please help .

Currency Code - This is the only column i have it in the LOV for now.. I just wanted to add one more column Currency Code, Currency Name...
So when the user click the LOV, they can see both Currency Code and Currency Name...and select one of the Currency in the field.

Problems with AEBS recognising MAC OS Extended USB hard drive

I've just bought the AEBS(n) and connected a hard drive via the usb port. Everything works fine - however when I get info it shows that the format is Appleshare! The hard drive is actually formatted as a MAC OS Extended (journaled) as this is confirmed if I connect the drive directly to my iMac.
Although this may not seem to be a problem as I can read and write to the disk, if I use iMovie it does not recognise the disk and therefore not show my iMovie events, even though there are on the drive and states that i must have a MAC OS extended drive.
I don't know how to ensure that AEBS shows the correct format of the drive so I won't have this problem?
The other thing is that when I use the Aiport Disk Utility it does not show the name of my hard drive in the window, instead the name of the AEBS shows!!??

I think there are a number of problems with the AEBS USB disk support.
- I have a 1 GB flash drive (solid state) that works fine on the AEBS.
- however I also have a 75 GB 2.5 inch Hitachi external USB drive that works fine on all my macs but can not connect to the AEBS. After talking to Apple there seems to be a list of 'supported drives' for AEBS USB drives but I've never seen it and nobody at Apple has it (or at least could send it to me).
- my AEBS has crashed several times when I hook up the Hitachi drive, forcing me to attach the drive to a mac and run disk utility for a disk repair (I guess the AEBS has no disk repair function).
- and it is slooowwww ....
- if you use a USB hub there seems to be a lot more issues -- especially if the hub is USB 1.1 and not USB 2.0.
maybe there will be a firmware update. I know I have filed Radar problems on all these issues....
