Filed visibility on selection screen

How can we reduce the visibilty to single chr field when the parameter field is of length 10 char on selection screen.

Parameters: p_field TYPE coas-waers VISIBLE LENGTH 5 .
NOTE:The addition VISIBLE LENGTH must be used to specify the visible length of the input field. The explicit specification of the length is necessary as the length of the entries in the list box is usually different to the actual length of the parameter.

Hi All,
My requirement is as follows.
1 select options in Selection Screen for MATNR (SO_MATNR)
1 parameter field in Selection Screen for entering a MARC field name. (P_FIELD)
Now the Program has to display the values of this Field (Entered by the user as P_FIELD) from MARC table, where MATNR is in SO_MATNR.
I understand that this would require a dynamic select statemant but could not figure out the correct way.
Please help me with the code for this requirement

Not sure If I understand correct, but here's an example on what I think you are looking for. I don't have an ECC system here (we're on CRM), but you should adept it to your tables and fieldname.
TABLES: but000.

SELECT-OPTIONS: so_part FOR but000-partner.

Filed enable in selection screen

Hi guru,
My Problem is i have created one screen through se51 i have put one table control when i press display button data will come in table control only in display mode but i want if i click on edit button then filed display in change mode then how can i create. i have set property display only.

there are two options
1) create 2 screens where one is with edit option and other one is with read only option. initially load read only version and when pressed edit load the edit table control screen.
2) create the table control only for read only mode. at PBO on loop insert a module and loop the screen make the fields you want editable.

Hiding and then making select-options visible on the selection-screen

I've created a selection screen. On this i've got a field (pr_inpt) depending on whose value i have to display the rest select-options viz. (so_c1, so_n1, so_d1, so_t1) say ,
1.)if (pr_inpt) contains value 'A' then display (so_c1 & so_d1)
2.)if (pr_inpt) contains value 'B' then display (so_n1, so_d1 & so_t1)
To achieve it, in the initialization event, i looped at the screen and for all (so_c1, so_n1, so_d1, so_t1) i made screen-active = '0'. Due to this my objective to hide fields in the beginning is achieved.
Next when user is entering value into (pr_inpt), i am making screen-active = '1' at selection-screen output event, for those relevant select-options (say if A, then made active for so_c1 & so_d1) but my problem is that it is making all select-options (so_c1, so_n1, so_d1, so_t1) visible on the screen which i don't want.
How can i achieve this, also is it possible to change the label of the select-options while displaying.

How to display my input history values on Filename filed (selection screen)

Hi All,
Please let me know how to display my input history values under the field of selection screen.
I created Zprogram as below.
SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK B1 WITH FRAME TITLE TEXT-001.
PARAMETERS: P_FILE TYPE RLGRAP-FILENAME OBLIGATORY.
SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK B1.
I displayed a selection screen of my Zprogram, my cursor put on P_FILE field, and enter BACKSPACE key,
so it doesn't display my input history values.
Of course I've selected Local Data History 'ON' of my GUI option,
so it's displayed my input history values on any other fields.
If you know why, please let me know.

In the GUI options, there is also a setting for the maximum length of fields for storing the history, maybe it is set to small, as your selection field is length 128.
Alternatively you can switch to a STRING, I have observed that the history is displayed after the first letter is being entered (maybe dependent on GUI version, who knows...)

Selection Screen is not visible when i run tcode S_ALR_87013611

Hello all,
whenever i run T-code S_ALR_87013611.The report is directly executed . it does not stop at selection screen as i want to change the parameters in the screen.but the selection screen is not coming. as the report is generated on the basis of previous data selected.
Please let me know is there any user setting through which this setting can be changed.

Filed not reflecting in infopackage data selection screen

Hello Gurus,
I have added a time stamp fiield in generic datasource in R3 and selected that field,but when i replicate the data source in BI and go to infopackage data selection screen,i dont see that field.I tried all the possible things but its not working.
Please help me.

Hi,
Did you select that Time stamp field as Selection field in RSA6? If not then select it as selection field and activate and then replicate the DS in BW and then check if that comes in Infopackage level.

Validating a selection screen filed

Hi Experts,
I need to to validate a selection screen field .The field is mentioned as selection parameter and it is obligatory.
To validate this i have written the logic as follows:

But here my question is select-options acts like an intenal table,Inthis case do we need to loop to the select-options fields or else do we have any other alternative solution.

Looping is not required for this validation. And as you have said select statement using IN oerator does not throw any error message if the value is not present in select-options.

But if you want to check whether the value entered in select-options is invalid then you can refer the below sample code
which can be used to check for the validity of the value of valuation class entered in the selection screen where valuation class is used as select-options. In the below code table T025 has all the values of valuation class. If the entered value does not exist in this then it indicates that the value entered in selection screen is invalid.

New development - selection screen

Hi gurus,
we are introducing a new functionality via devolopment transaction Z, and we need to enter a selection screen prior to the results, just to enter a kind of filter for fields such us:
1. Purchasing document creation date.
2. Document type.
3. Purchasing group.
4. Vendor.
5. Cost Center.
The programmers are asking us whether we want those fields to be a parameter or a range.
Can anyone clear the difference between those two terms for us?
Any help regarding this issue would be very appreciated.

In selection screen Parameter is Just one value For ex Cost centre A .If it is range means From Cost centre A to Cost Centre E. (A,B...E).
If you maintain for all these filed Range then it may give dump while report execution.So you have to controle which fileds should have range and Just one parametre.

BEx Report Performance with selection-screen input

My Bex report is working fine when the report had run with out PLANT filter in the selection-screen but when report had run with plant in the selection-screen , report running for forever.
Please let me know what I need to do improve the performance.

Hi Saleem, Just a few thoughts;
1. Check the M-table in RSD1 for 0PLANT. In Table View edit any blank or null values. Run the same restrictions you apply in the query at Info provider level > Display Data. If there's any lapse; you can judge where exactly the problem lies.
2. If you are using Infocube & that your master is >20% fact; you can declare the Info object as 'Line Item Dimension'.
3. Create Variants. Esp. if you are running the query for same set of data. Try Variable Preselection: You can restrict both the values + varaiables in the filter level. When you execute the values will be visibly pre-selected in selection screen.
4. As discussed in previous messages, running a SQL trace using RSRT may prove useful.

Selection Screen Bug :: Drop Down List.

I have created the following ABAP Report. I am new at this and I have just hit an issue. I have two drop down boxes linked to transactions. Now when I select a report from Drop Down 1 and click it it goes to the transaction. Now if I also have a selection in Drop Down 2 it actually runs both transactions.
How can i fix this?

Truncation of selection screen field in reports

Hi,
Is there any way to avoid truncation of selection screen fields in ABAP reports? For eg, I declare:
SELECT-OPTIONS: s_test FOR ztest-test_field NO INTERVALS
The length of this field in the table is 30 chars. However, on displaying the field via selection screen, this gets truncated to around 18 or so. How do I avoid this as I need to display the full length of the field?

Try this
Tables : makt.
select-options maknr for makt-maktx.
now go to the screen painter of your program in change mode and move the Help buttons first to the Right each. now increasethe length of the Matnr Field length so that they are equal to 40 Char. in your program you have handle the length now if you want to restrict to 18 otherwise it will be ok
if they don't fit you need incease the Size of the Screen Visible area both in the Screen Painter as well as in the
Screen Attributes
You also get an Information Message just ignore that.
Just open your program in SE80 if you can't go to the screen painter in SE38. the other way just keep this program in Display mode and execute then take F1 help , take Technical Information and double click on the Screen number now go to the Screen Layout and go to Change mode here.

Regarding Search help on selection-screen field

Hi there,
I am working on custom tables.
I have a requirement to maintain search pattern on a selection-screen field.
selection-screen parameter: p_name which is company name filed from Z table.
By giving a string like Holl* and by pressing F4 on the field p_name it has to popup a dialogbox having list of company names starting with Holl.

Regarding Selection-Screen Field Display

Hi All,
I have issues with Selection-Screen field display.
The Actual issue is i had declared a selection screen field as: s_exgen FOR embk-exgen.
EMBK-EXGEN is actually 20 Char length field.
But in output display it is being shown as 18 Char field though i can type in all 20 characters.
But display restricted to 18 Characters only.
Can anybody give me the solution for the same!

Hi,
You can decrease the visible length of the field but you can not increase more than database field length. check SAP help on this :
select-options: s_exgen FOR embk-exgen VISIBLE LENGTH 5.

In this variant, (f) must be a field containing the name of the actual reference field at runtime. The system creates the LOW and HIGH fields as character fields with length 45. However, their appearance on the selection screen is inherited from the reference field whose name is contained in field f at runtime.

Hiding fields in Report Selection Screen which have Mandatory Fields

Hi Friends,
I have 2 Radio Buttons. PO and SO. If PO is selected, user need to input the Plant value in the Sel.Scrn which is mandatory and Storage Location field will be invisible.
If SO is selected, then user need to input the Plant and Storage Location value which are mandatory. Now Storage Location will be visible.
When radio button SO is seleted, SAP triggers an error message as 'Make an entry in all required fields' without displaying Storage Location input field in Sele. Scrn.
How to do this.? I checked in SCN and not find perfect match to solve for Mandatory Input Fields.
