I find it extremely frustrating that Apple does not care for such an obvious bug affecting one of the basic funcionalities of AirPlay. Unless, of course, if there's something I don't know - but I've done some research and it seems that plenty of people have same issue and no solution is settled.

Can the iPhoto Library package file be recreated?

I recently moved my iPhoto library to a new LaCie solid state external hard drive, because it had reached 130GB in size and was taking up too much space on my hard drive. My iPhoto library has 30,000 photos with lots of events, smart albums and metadata (faces, keywords, etc.). Unfortunately the external hard drive failed and I had to pay for data recovery services. When I got the external hard drive back, the Masters folders were all there with my photos, but the iPhoto Library package file seems to be missing. Is there anyway to recreate the iPhoto Library package to include all the files AND the associated metadata?
I found instructions on how to start from scratch by importing the Masters...but this method does not retain metadata. Any ideas would be really appreciated. Worst case scenario, I can go back to a Time Machine back-up from June 2014 and use that as a starting point, but I'd much rather not have to take that route.

You cannot recreate the iphoto library package from your Masters folder. It is an intricate web of linked files. Use your most recent backup as a starting point, and then add the newer files from your recovered Masters folder.

Can the VideoMaster Video Binary Files be saved as bitmap files instead?

When I run VideoMaster it only seems to capture files to be saved as .vbf files. I am not familiar with this standard and suspect that a large amount of data is compressed.
All the frames on the product that I am testing are I -Frames and I wish to compare these frames. Since a .bmp file is uncompressed, I reckon this would be the best way/ simplest way to compare two files.
Any capture cards I have used previously allow the video/ grabs to be save as bitmap files.
Is there a way of saving the files as .bmp files instead of .vbf using Videomaster?

VideoMASTER .vbf to BitmapThis is actually a feature that will be released in the upcoming VideoMASTER 3.0, which is to be released soon. The feature will allow to save the image in the video buffer to one of the following formats:
.bmp
.png
.jpg
In the case of analog video, it will take the first frame, if more frames are acquired, and save that to disk. In case of digital, we only acquire s single frame, so it is that frame that is being saved. The feature can handle analog video such as Composite video, S-Video and Component video, and in the case of digital, it will save the digital image. All formats are saved as 8-bit of RGB information.

Sure, any file supported by the drive format. Since yours is probably a Mac formatted iPod, it should work with any file. If you had a Windows formatted iPod that is in Fat32 format, you can hold any type of file, but you have a file size limit of I think 4GB for a single file.

Can the 6133 play music files

I own a nokia 6133, I've download PC suite, and can't seem to transfer music to the phone. I keep getting an eror message that says "the path to the music location for phone nkia 6133 is missing or invalid. Set the music path from the phone tab of the settings dialog." If it means on my phone, I can't seem to find anything that will let me "set the path" in the settings on my phone. Any insight?

Low and behold I figured that out too, yay I'm awsome If anyone has the same problem , the settings tab in the pc suite software is what is meant, and if you go to fun and apps / galley on you phone you can format you card.

File Manager: accessing files on a network

When using the File Manager, it seems to only allow access to the PlayBook's files, but we need access to outside files, too.
Can the PlayBook read/write files to a file server or a NAS box? We don't always have a Windows computer turned on and still want wireless access to the files.

Files and Folders App gives access to files in various Clouds. You can also use Citrix for Playbook to give you remote access to your company files etc. Does this suggestion help?

How can I determine the full path and filename of the currently opened .ai file?

In Photoshop, right clicking the file name of the opened file in progress shows an option "Reveal in Explorer" so I know exacly where the file was opened from.
In Lightroom, it is displayed in the metadata.
New to illustrator, I have looked at loads of menu options get cannot see how to find this information.

+1 for what Larry said if you are on OS X. You can then scroll through and select any of the listed items and when clicked upon it will take you to that folder/location.

What can the file path tell me about a photo?

I am a Police Detective. I used a Cellebrite UFED to dump an Iphone 4. I am interested in a few images on the phone. I'm curious what the file path can tell me about the image. I also noticed that there are two versions of each image, an original and another duplicate photo. Here are the paths of the original photos -

You're not looking at original photos. You're looking at photos streamed to the phone from PhotoStream. They may or may not have been taken on the phone. They may have been taken or saved to another iOS device or to a Mac or PC, or they may have been shared with the owner of the phone.
The thumbnails are (obviously) thumbnails... small versions of photos scaled to view multiple pictures at once for easy navigation.
Basically, the information above tells you absolutely nothing of any value at all.

I would like to open a fileinputstream. The file to be opened is with my source code and .class files of my project. I had to use absolute path so that the applet find find the file. Why ?
Why cant I just put the filename or a relative path (like .//odbc.datasource)?

Missing files - iTunes using wrong path, how can I change it?

I store my itunes library on an external hard drive and I have over 1000 music files which itunes cannot locate even though they are there.
Having done a bit of research I've discovered that the path for these files is incorrect.
The path in "Get Info" for a missing track shows the path as:
file://localhost/Volumes/Public/My Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/Artist/Album/Song.xxx
The path for a working track shows:
/Volumes/Public/My Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Artist/Album/Song.xxx
So the missing ones have the extra "file://localhost" which I don't think should make a difference, but they also have an extra "Music" folder.
Is there a simple way to correct this for all the missing tracks?

You don't say if this happened because you were updating iTunes right now in which case this might be the best way. If you recently did update you can take the archived library file and move it and rename it so it now becomes the library.itl file iTunes is using.
A slightly different approach to rebuilding, using a copy of the library file that is stored in a different format (.xml). It is up to date as regards to your main library file though it does omit some of the things I mentioned in an earlier post.

If the above does not work we will need to edit the .xml file you are storing on the desktop because it is derived from your .itl library file and it too may have the broken links in it. It's the "file://localhost" stuff that's causing the problem. The links aren't truly invalid, it's the fact that iTunes for some reason is inserting the localhost stuff that's causing iTunes to see them as broken links. This can be edited using a search and replace with a text editor, if necesssary.
For what it's worth, if you don't have too many broken links you could fix them by hand, but it's not fun.
Note, in addition to backing up your whole iTunes collection periodically, it is worth occasionally backing up the library file in case it becomes corrupt (as it is now in a way).

Thanks Barney, I tried that but all that comes up in Spotlight are the log files that show the file paths! I don't know how Steam works. Are all the files held by Steam on their server perhaps?

Targa files used to save paths, but I can't get it to work now.

I've been using targa files to provide my marketing team with images that work in their space planning program that include transparency. I use an alpha channel to do this, and that part remains in fine working order. However, I used to save these targas on our network drive and they would retain paths we had created so we could easily select different parts of products and change the color for proposals the marketing team wanted to do.
It's been a little while since this functionality has stopped working for me, and I can't for the life of me figure out why.
They take substantial resizing after the fact, so just generating them from the PSD file every time is not an option. We still need the full size images from time to time anyway, and I'm talking about thousands of images. The size it would take on our network would make IT BM in their collective pants.
Edit: I suppose I should say that I recently upgraded to CC, but I've been having this problem before then with CS5 as well. On a Mac, running Mavericks.

The sheer number of images we end up having to edit makes working on PSDs prohibitive, so we start and finish new versions of the products using only the TGA files. These files don't retain any of the channels created by masks in the PSD.
When we have a product that has only one possible color, selecting the channel that we use for transparency works to grab the item for color correcting, but often times there are multiple parts to the product (wheels, handles, etc.) that need to be selected individually to create the color combinations marketing needs.
I suggested to my coworkers that we could create channels for all the different features, but without testing to make sure this doesn't break the functionality in the space planning program, it's not something we want to try.
