Filename autocomplete in ksh

We're migrating from HPUX to Solaris and have gotten used to the filename completion feature (ESC-ESC) in HP's ksh. Is there a way to enable this in Sun's ksh?

Hi,
You can use ESC-ESC in sun's ksh also . please use M-ESC for File name completion. Replaces the current word with the longest common prefix of all filenames matching the current word with an asterisk appended.
Please see "man ksh" for further clarifications.
Hope this helps.
Thanks & Regards,
Dhanasekar.

  • Why I see datafile has "\012" at its tail

    Hi, buddy
    I see some datafile has '\012' when I use "ls -b".
    Here is example:
    ll -b
    -rw-r----- 1 oraxxxx1 oraxxxx1 5242888192 Jan 4 10:02 ts_x01_04.dbf
    -rw-r----- 1 oraxxxx1 oraxxxx1 2936020992 Jan 4 10:02 ts_x02_04.dbf

    -rw-r----- 1 oraxxxx1 oraxxxx1 1048584192 Jan 4 10:02 ts_y03_01.dbf
    -rw-r----- 1 oraxxxx1 oraxxxx1 1048584192 Jan 4 10:02 ts_y03_02.dbf\012
    -rw-r----- 1 oraxxxx1 oraxxxx1 2147491840 Jan 4 10:02 ts_z01_01.dbf
    -rw-r----- 1 oraxxxx1 oraxxxx1 2147491840 Jan 4 10:02 ts_z01_01.dbf
    Why it has \012 at end of datafile and how can I select them?
    like 'cp ts_y02_03.dbf\012' or 'cp ts_y02_03.dbf' ?

    ls -b prints octal escapes codes for non-graphic characters. \012 is a linefeed or \n character that is normally used in Unix text files to start a new line. How were these files created?
    What happens when you use the following:
    cp ts_y02_03.dbf\0012 cp ts_y02_03.dbf
    or use cp ts_y02_03 then hit the TAB key for filename autocomplete (bash shell).

  • AutoComplete not working properly in Outlook 2013

    The AutoComplete List is a feature which displays suggestions for names and e-mail addresses as you begin to type them. These suggestions are possible matches from a list of names and e-mail addresses from the e-mail messages that you have
    sent.
    AutoComplete is a convenient feature when we send an email message, if it suddenly stops working, it becomes a real pain to the sender. If you encountered this problem, you can use the steps below to troubleshoot it and make it work again.
    1. Check if the AutoComplete feature is turned on.
    By default, the AutoComplete feature is enabled. If it isn’t working, of course the first thing to check is whether the feature is enabled. To check it, go to
    File tab> Options > Mail, scroll down to the
    Send Messages section and make sure the “Use Auto-Complete List to suggest names when typing in the To, CC, and Bcc lines” option is selected.
    2. Check if AutoComplete works in OWA
    Since Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 doesn’t store nicknames in .NK2 file, it stores the autocomplete cache in the user’s mailbox and caches to a local cache file. So, the OWA uses the same autocomplete list, we can log into OWA and check if AutoComplete
    works.
    If it works in OWA, it means the autocomplete list is OK. The problem lies in the Outlook client side. If the autocomplete doesn’t even work in OWA, the autocomplete list could be corrupt.
    3. An Add-in may cause AutoComplete to not work correctly.
    Problematic add-in may cause a number of issues in Outlook. If an add-in cause Outlook to crash, the AutoComplete lists could be affected and become corrupt.
    To determine if a problematic add-in is the culprit, go to File > Options > Add-ins, disable all add-ins and then check if the problem continues. If the problem is gone with all add-in disabled, we can try re-enabling add-ins one-by-one to isolate
    the problematic add-in:
    (1) Start Outlook.
    (2) On the File tab, click Options,
    then click Add-Ins.
    (3) In the bottom of the Outlook Options dialog box, make sure the
    Manage drop-down shows COM Add-ins, and then click
    Go.
    (4) In the COM Add-Ins dialog box, select to enable an add-in and then click
    OK.
    (5) Repeat step 4 until you have all of the required Outlook functionality and Outlook remains stable.
    If Outlook becomes unstable after re-enabling a particular COM add-in, disable that COM add-in and then contact the add-in vendor to see if they have an updated version that is more stable with Outlook.
    For detailed steps about this, you can refer to the following KB article and look at the “Re-enabling COM add-ins one-by-one” section.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2934538
    4. Reset the AutoComplete list.
    If AutoComplete is enabled but still not working in OWA, it could be that the corruption within the AutoComplete list is causing auto-complete not to work correctly. You’ll need to manually delete the AutoComplete list to fix the issue.
    Note: You will lose all addresses stored in AutoComplete.
    If there is only one or several AutoComplete entries are corrupt, we can remove them by clicking ‘X’ or pressing
    Delete key.
    If all entries are corrupt, we can use one of the following two methods to delete the AutoComplete lists:
    Method 1: Use the Empty Auto-complete List button.
    1. Open Outlook.
    2. On the File tab, click Options > Mail
    tab.
    3. Under Send Messages, click Empty Auto-Complete List.
    It’s also recommended to untick the “Use Auto-Complete List to suggest names when typing in the To, Cc, and Bcc lines”.
    4.  Restart Outlook and tick the “Use Auto-Complete List to suggest names when typing in the To, Cc, and Bcc lines” box again.
    Test if the issue persists.
    Method 2: Use the /CleanAutoCompleteCache switch.
    1. Exit Outlook.
    2. Press Windows key + R to open the Run command.
    3. Type Outlook.exe /CleanAutoCompleteCache in the Run box and press
    Enter.
    5. Reach the maximum number of AutoComplete entries
    Outlook limits the number of entries that you can save in the AutoComplete list. If you find some names unexpectedly removed from your autocomplete list, you may consider this situation.
    Outlook 2013 has a limit of 1000 entries for the AutoComplete list. After you reach this limit, Outlook uses an internal algorithm to determine the best names to remove from the list. It does this based on a usage weighting. To avoid
    this situation, you can use one of the following two methods:
    Method 1: You can manually remove some AutoComplete entries that you no longer use. We can remove them by clicking ‘X’ or pressing
    Delete key as we mentioned in portion 4.
    Method 2: You can change the limit for the AutoComplete list by modifying the registry.
    Because this configuration is untested, we do not recommended it. If you have a larger AutoComplete list, you could also lose a larger number of cached entries if your AutoComplete cache becomes unusable because of corruption. Given this disclaimer,
    you can use the following registry data to increase the AutoComplete list limit in Outlook.
    Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these
    steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it.
    1. Exit Outlook.
    2. Start Registry Editor. Press the Windows key, type regedit and then press
    Enter.
    3. Add the following value:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook\AutoNameCheck
    DWORD: MaxNickNames
    Value: Type the number in
    decimal form.
    Note: Try increasing the limit by only a marginal amount to test the new limit. For example, to create a 20 percent increase in the limit in Outlook 2013, you would specify 1200 for the
    MaxNickNames value.
    4. Exit Registry Editor and restart Outlook.
    More information
    To avoid the risk of losing your AutoComplete list entries, it’s recommended to back up them regularly. In Outlook 2013, the AutoComplete list entries are stored in a hidden message in your default message store. To back up the entries, please follow
    these steps:
    1. Exit Outlook, and then close Outlook Web Access or Outlook Web App (OWA) on all workstations that are connected to your mailbox.
    2. Download and install MFCMAPI here:
    http://mfcmapi.codeplex.com
    3. Run mfcmapi.exe.
    4. Click Session > Logon.
    5. Select your profile, and then click OK.
    6. Select the data file that use your email address as the filename, and then double-click it.
    7. Expand Root Mailbox, and then expand IPM_SUBTREE.
    8. Find Inbox and right-click on it, and then click Open Associated Content Table.
    9. In the newly opened MFCMAPI window, under the Subject column, right-click the item that has the subject
    IPM.Configuration.Autocomplete, and then click Export Message.
    10. In the Save Message To File window, select
    MSG file (UNICODE) from the drop-down list, and then click
    OK.
    11. Select a folder location to which you want to save the message, and then click
    Save.

  • [Oracle 11g] Store filename as VARCHAR2 and its content as XMLType

    Hi all,
    The version of Oracle used is 11.2.0.3.0.
    I would like to load a XML file into a table from AIX with a Shell script.
    Here is the test case table:
    ALTER  TABLE mytable DROP PRIMARY KEY CASCADE;
    DROP   TABLE mytable CASCADE CONSTRAINTS;
    CREATE TABLE mytable (
       filename VARCHAR2 (50 BYTE),
       created DATE,
       content SYS.XMLTYPE,
       CONSTRAINT pk_mytable PRIMARY KEY (filename) USING INDEX
    XMLTYPE content STORE AS BINARY XML;The problem is to store the the file name too.
    So I add a step to create the control file from a generic one like this:
    #!/bin/ksh
    FILES=$(sample.xml)
    CTL=generic.CTL
    for f in $FILES
    do
        cat $CTL | sed -e "s/:FILE/$f/g" > $f.ctl
        sqlldr scott/tiger@mydb control=$f.ctl data=$f
        rc=$?
        echo "Return code: $rc."
    doneThe filename and the data are stored in the table, but I get this error message after executing the Shell script:

    So, I cannot check if load is done correctly since return code is allways 2!
    Is it the correct way to solve my problem ?
    What can I do to get it better ?

    Another question !
    Here is an other way of doing it.
    #!/bin/ksh
    FILEPATH=./data/sample.xml
    FILENAME=$(basename ${FILEPATH})
    CTLFILE=load_data.ctl
    cat > ${CTLFILE} <<EOF

    INTO TABLE mytable APPEND
        filename CONSTANT "${FILEPATH}",
        created "SYSDATE",
        content LOBFILE (filename) TERMINATED BY EOF
    BEGINDATA
    ${FILEPATH}
    EOF
    sqlldr scott/tiger@mydb control=${CTLFILE}
    rc=$?
    echo "Return code: $rc."I've tested this script, it's okay.
    Now I want to store the basename of the file : ${FILENAME}.
    How can I do that ?
    The problem is that I can no more write "LOBFILE (filename)" because it does not point to the correct path of the file !!!
    Someone can help me please ?
    Thanks.

  • SQL*Loader and filenames

    Is it possible to pick up the name of the file being loaded from within the control file.
    I am building a process that automatically loads a file when it is placed in a particular directory. I want to be able to create a 'load history' record. i.e. as well as loading the data from the file into a particular table I want to create a record in another table with the load date/time and the name of the file loaded.
    The filename will be of a fixed format with a date embedded.
    I will be using Oracle 8.1.7. so no flashy 9i facilities will be available!
    Any ideas out there
    Thanks
    Steve

    If you execute sqlloader without any parameters it'll show all that are available. In your case you could write it like this:
    <loop>
      sqlldr control=<yourctlfile> data=$var_file bad=$var_bad
    <end loop>
    not tested
    Not sure about the "$", I usually don't write scripts in ksh.

    very likely dos2unix is looking for codepage to use, but does not find a keyboard defined;
    you can simply ignore if you are satisfied with the us codepage used for translation (suppose 437), or you can change the script so it uses explicitly codepage 437 or 850 (option -437 or -850).
    this is not really an error message, but a warning, or informational

  • Getting Podcast to appear in Autocomplete for Store Search

    My podcast has been approved and is live in the Store. However, it is not showing in the autocomplete while searching. If I search submit the search anyway it finds it. Any idea on how I can get my title to be included in the search autocomplete?
    Thank you,

    The image is correctly referenced, and there is indeed an image at that URL: oddly, it doesn't appear when viewing the feed in FireFox, which it normally would.
    The only thing I noticed is that the image was fairly slow to load - not disastrously so, but sometimes slow loading can cause the Store to give up when checking the image.
    Apple are now saying the image should be 1400 x 1400, though I wouldn't have thought it would have rejected the image for being less. You could try making a new image to that size - give it a different filename or the Store won't know it's changed - and see whether that helps: it will take a week or so to appear (assuming it does). You may have just fallen over one of the Store's irritating sticky patches.

  • Logical filename in broadcasting

    Hi everyone,
    We want to use the bursting functionality to broadcast a report to the portal. We'll split the result to profit center so each profit center gets a seperate pdf document. Now a few hundred pdf files get created but it's unclear which file containts data for which profit center (without opening each file). Is there a way to add the profit center to the filename of the pdf document created? We've lookad at the variable on filename creation but these are not sufficient.
    Kind regards,
    Alex

    Hi Alex,
    I've found a discussion between SAP dev and another customer... where dev refers to the following...
    Filename: (Mandatory) this name is used for the directory name. This
    name is also the technical name of the directory in the database. The
    query_name/tempalate name is taken as default.
    "Display Name: If provided, replaces the Filename for user display on
      the portal.
    If a control query is used (which may generate multiple files), then
    the end files are names based on query_name/tempalate name + index."
    Do you have the option of a display name?
    Please read the following...

  • In Photoshop Express, cannot sort images in album by filename in thumbnail view (for slideshow)l.

    In Photoshop Express, I want images to appear sorted by filename.  In the "view as a table" it sorts fine.  When I revert to the thumbnail view, the arrangement is random.  The dropdown "show" list does not offer an option for showing by filename.  If I select the"custom" option, it means I would need to sort 300 images by filename MANUALLY (!!!), a job that a computer does in milliseconds.  Anyone with a solution?  Thanks.

    fwiw, with my images in the 'Folder Location' view the photos are in order by their Windows filename. That is the same order as the hardcopy album the photos came from. So I then created a PSE Album. I selected all my photos and moved them into that album. The order of the pictures was retained in the Album. That worked out great. I wanted my PSE images to be in the same order. I thought I would do it with tags. But creating an album seems to work just fine.

  • Filename in non-english are not saved correctly

    hi
    I recently (last week) installed archlinux.
    I come from manjaro so I am to some extent familiar with archlinux.
    now I am trying to solve some issues that have poped up in arch that there were not in manjaro( mostly because manjaro was pre-configured).
    when I use jdownloader to save youtube videos the files names are displayed correctly in jdownloader but not in konsole or dolphin file manager. (they are shown as "????" characters).
    this happens for Persian and Russian characters.
    I thought this was jdownloader issue but this doesn't happen on my pc that has a manjaro installed on it.
    and another thing that makes it weird is that if i create files in dolphin with say Persian language they are shown and treated correctly. but the ones that are created by jdownloader have this issue.
    and another related symptome is that some files that I download from subtitle websites that are in zip format and have some rare European characters in them (like the French and German ones) I cant open them or extract them in dolphin file manager.
    I had a similar issue like this in manajro but in manajro I used file-roller to open the files and that app would work with this files correctly.
    but in archlinux even file-roller has this issue.
    can somebody help me with this?

    rezad,
    it was a long time ago i had that problem and locale handling is like a black box to me.
    It's easy to reverse if it doesn't help though, why don't you try it ?
    I have tried it.
    adding other encoding before the famous en-US,UTF-8 one gives warning for default lang and falling back.
    I see these error when running apps from command line.
    adding other encodings after that encoding doesn't show this warning but i have a suspicion that it mean that other encoding are suppressed,
    i have to try it with a file with a wired but known encoding and then adding that encoding to config and testing again.
    my problem is how do i find the filename encoding?(not find content encoding)
    this is the file in question. can somebody tell me what is the filename encoding?
    https://www.sendspace.com/file/fwmxpc
    EDIT:  my findings on this matter.
    even adding all the langs to /etc/locale.gen and then using locale-gen command doesnt fix this. cause this are different issues.
    this problem as a whole doesn't have a solution, cause linux unlike windows doesn't have a default inbuilt filename encoding and it all depends on your environment.
    linux just treat the filename in the encoding you tell it. so it cant detect anything cause there is nothing to detect.
    from its perspective filename are just binary data ready to be interpreted as wished by the user.
    widows on the other hand uses UTF-16.
    plz if anybody have another contradicting point ,then reply but plz dont say I have to use correct encoding. the only way to fix it is using convmv util and that requires finding the correct original encoding.
    thanks for all the replys.

  • Filename in Attachement payload

    Hy,
    I have to detach an email attachement on my file System.
    That's works but I'm not able to maintain the same filename.
    Can anybody help me.
    Thanks
    Mat

    Hi Mattia,
    If your file name is a part of your email atttachment ( the payload ), then you can dynamically create your file name.
    To do this,in the filename of the receiver file adapter, give the filename a <b>%var%</b>.
    Anything between % is treated as a varibale by XI. Now, under variable name substitution, you will have to give the value of var and this will act as the filename.
    You can access the payload using <b>payload:</b> and the XPATH.
    For info on how to do this, check the topic<b> VARIABLE SUBSTITUTION</b> in this link.

  • Filename in PDF portfolio?

    Sorry for what I'm sure is an easy(lame) question.
    I don't want to show the filename when creating a PDF portfolio and I've hunted for the answer without any luck.
    How do I only show the image or show a custom text/ title but not the XXXXX.jpg filename?
    thx!
    > just to clarify.... when viewing a PDF portfolio of images I don't want to show the image filename below the image.

    Hi,
    I've been trying to hide the file name myself. It seems intuitive that, while in the Modify area of the PDF Portfolio, under "Specify File Details" that one would simply unclick "Name" under "Columns to Display".
    But all that seems to do is hide it while I'm within the Modify section. I save and go back to view the pdfs and there are the file names.
    Anyone out there know the answer? Even if it's just a link to more info, that would be great. I need to get this out but without the filenames. I've searched in Google but no good info.
    BTW, the Description option is a nice touch and shows upon immediate hover. That's why I don't need to show a file name. Plus, you can write more in the description than is viable/sensible in a file name.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Filename in J2SE Adapter with Variable Substitution

    Hello,
    Within the J2EE receiver fileadapter (and ftp) from SP13 it is possible to compose the target filename and directory based on the payload of a message using variable substitution.
    I wonder if it is also possible to use variable substitution with the J2SE fileadapter. For this it is not documented but i thougth that the same java libraries are used for the J2EE an J2SE file-adapters.
    Aybody??
    Really Nobody??
    Message was edited by: Emile Hermans

    Hello,
    the J2SE Adapter does not support variable subsition. Therefore we created our own class which gets called from the main SAP XI class "XMB2FileProcessor.class" wich is in the jar "aii_msg_adapter.jar". In your own class you can do what ever you need to chane the file name. In the configuration you can set your own parameter to search the payload for a string you want to replace. We also had to come up with our own timestamp, e.g. file2005-11-10 which SAP does not let you do, only the full timestamp is possible.
    One other nice thing is that you can develop our JAVA class local and test it with your local J2SE Adapter Engine on you PC before you deploy it.
    Steps to do:
    1. JAD the SAP class
    2. Put a call in the SAP class
    3. Compile the class
    4. Put the class back in the archive
    5. Create your own class
    6. Create a jar file for it
    7. Put the jar file in the tech_adapter directory
    8. Change the run_adapter start cmd to include your jar file
    It works great, the only issue is if you patch the J2SE engine you have to do step 1 to 4 again but that should it very easy to do.
    Cheers
    Stefan

  • Filename in Photo Gallery

    Since updating my iPad2 to iOS 8, the filenames have vanished from the photo gallery. I am a designer and I used to take the filename of photos as reference for my clients. I have more than 8000 pictures in the gallery. Please HELP
    Hate Apple so much for ruining my work.

    I Can't ever recall seeing file names in the default Photos app. Perhaps you were using iphoto on your iPad which is no longer supported? Check the App Store for other photo handling apps To find one that shows the file names. I use Photo Manager Pro to show photos to my clients. It does a better job of that than the Photos app. you can set the preferences there to display the file name.
