Filename in document

Hi all,
Just new to Mac so I've to learn a lot.
How can I insert the filename (semi)automaticly into the document.
I have a template document and save this as .... I want the filename to appear in the document.
Is this possible?? If yes HOW

As far as I know, we are in a forum dedicated to Numbers '09

  • Filename or Document name restrictions

    I am working with a customer that uses strange names for their files and documents. They name them like: !(%$#@^&P_6* (we call them cussing file names)
    Anyway, I found release notes for 9.0.3 that says many of these characters can not be used. However, I have not been able to find any restrictions to filenames or document names in 10.1.4. They are trying to search for these in Oracle Search as well.
    Are those restrictions no long valid? Can you name file like this?
    Thanks

    I have experienced a problem. I did a big import of documents from a file system server to portal using api. Portal version was 10.1.2. and the problem that we got, was because of the big names of documents, when a link from an item was clicked, portal showed an error. Then we opened a sr in metalink and applied a patch. The problem solved. I had another problem with charset, our portal was configured to use UTF8 and there were "Microsoft Word documents" that was done using charset=windows-1252. When we tried to search these documents (using search portlet), we did not have success because of the charset, the solution was edit these documents and save then using UTF8.

  • How to get the filename of document that opened my app

    Hope that makes sense. I'm relatively new to OS X programming and have built a small Cocoa app (not a document-based app). I've associated a file type (.myFileType) with my application. If I double-click a file with that file type, it opens my app automatically as expected. From within my app, how do I get the full pathname of the document that opened my app?

    I know what you're saying. IB is made to seem easy, but when you start asking "What's this?", and "What does that do when the nib is loaded??", the pretty pictures suddenly aren't as clear as they seemed. Been there!
    The File's Owner never causes the creation of an object. It's always a "proxy" (a stand-in) for an object that's created elsewhere. The actual object may be defined in another xib, or it may be created in code. In MainMenu.xib. the File's Owner is a proxy for the Application object. The Application object isn't created because of that nib, it's created by the startup code before the nib is loaded. But the "proxy" allows you to make connections to the Application object in the xib.
    I know this is clear as mud so far, but it will start to make sense after you grok a few more pieces of the puzzle. A good place to start might be Anatomy of a Nib File in the +Resource Programming Guide+.
    Nib proxies are actually easier to understand when building an iPhone app. In that case, the SDK makes it much easier to associate proxies with the objects they represent. The concept is still the same, but for example, bridging two iPhone xibs with a proxy only takes a couple mouse clicks in IB.
    Hope that helps!

  • How can i add filename on a document in pages 5.1 ?

    I am allways using a template to make documents, that I save under different names. How can I add the (changed) filename in the footer of a saved document ?
    It is important to me to print the filename on document, to find and edit it on my mac later.
    In MS Word it is easy to automaticaly add filenames, path, author and other filedata to the document. I can't find how to do that automatically in Pages templates.
    I saw earlyer answers to this question on this community, but they don't work as I expect, or only on earlier versions of pages.....  I trust there is an easy way to do this.
    Can someone help me please ?

    That function, present in "Pages 09" (i.e. Pages 4.3) , was not included in Pages 5.0-5.1.  (Nor were nearly 100 other such features, from mail merge and bookmarks to non-contiguous text selection, 2-up page viewing and the ability to set alternating left/right margins, headers & footers.Version 5.1 is also notably buggy. One work around, or partial work around, is to click the file name at the top of the window document. You can then select the filename, copy it  and paste it whereever you like. As far as I can see, however, there is no way to include the path: all you get is the filename and extension.

  • Set default filename for file save dialog on Save button click

    Hi,
    I am using AxAcroPDF (version 9.0) control to view pdf files in windows forms (C#). The pdf loads into the viewer in the form. Now, when I click on the Save button in the viewer, a Save dialog pops up with a default filename having complete path info.
    If I have loaded the pdf file into AxAcroPDF viewer with filename:
    "C:\Documents and Settings\KB_Kravi\My Documents\CustomerList.pdf"
    then in the save dialog, the default filename will be:
    "C_Documents_and_Settings_KB_Kravi_My Documents_CustomerList.pdf"
    Is there any option to set the default filename in the save dialog to some short name, instead of this lengthy name?
    Thanks,
    Ravi.

    Hi,
    I've found a solution.
    public void Open(string filePath)
    axAcroPDF.LoadFile(filePath);
    //this will set the correct name in the save file dialog.
    axAcroPDF.src = filePath;
    Thanks for your help.

  • How do you determine what the default filename is when you do a SaveAs?

    I have a shcedule that I saved and now I want to save it as a .pdf file, so I go into File, SaveAs and select .pdf in the drop down and the default filename is "document" not what the name of my schedule was.  Where is that set?  How
    do I make it default to the name of the MS Project Filename?
    Thanks,
    Casey

    Hi Casey,
    Which version, SP and CU do you have? Trying with Project 2010 SP1, the original file name is kept whatever extension selected in the "save as" dialog box.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to find out the encoding of an XML input document

    Hello all,
    I read a XML file into a DOM document and would like to save it back in the same encoding as the input. How do I find out the encoding of the input document?
    This is my code for reading the document:
    import java.io.File;
    import java.io.FileInputStream;
    import javax.xml.transform.Transformer;
    import javax.xml.transform.TransformerFactory;
    import javax.xml.transform.dom.DOMResult;
    import javax.xml.transform.stream.StreamSource;
    import org.w3c.dom.Document;
    Transformer transformer = TransformerFactory.newInstance().newTransformer();
    DOMResult domResult = new DOMResult();
    transformer.transform(new StreamSource(new FileInputStream(fileName)),
                          domResult);
    Document doc = (Document)domResult.getNode();
    .

    FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(fileName);
    String encoding = new InputSource(fis).getEncoding();
    fis.close();Note that this only works because you can get an InputStream over the document twice. If the document were coming from an HTTP response (for example) it wouldn't work.

  • Read an XML file with java: Document to Node conversion

    Hello,
    I want to read an XML file and convert data into a Node instance because I need this for an XForm application.
    My code is:
    private Node workstationType;
    public Node initModel() {
    try {
    //This one will hold the results
    Document document;
    //loading from XML File
    String fileName="C:\\documents\\iniForm.xml";
    FileInputStream inXML = new FileInputStream(fileName);
    BufferedReader in = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(inXML));
    document = XMLLoader.loadFromStream(in);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    System.err.println("ERROR:" + e.getMessage());
    e.printStackTrace(System.err);
    //Create the node for the root, 'typeOfWorkstation'
    workstationType = document.getDocumentElement(); //A
    //Return the root node
    return (workstationType);
    The problem: I can convert Node instance to Document instance (line A)
    The error message is: "document cannot be resolved".
    How can I do that??
    Thank you
    Sylvain

    Here is my XMLLoader class:
    public class XMLLoader {
         public static Document loadFromStream(Reader reader) throws Exception {
              //Build a DOM document with the reader
              //prepare DOM document
              DOMImplementation impl;
              DocumentBuilder builder;
              try {
                   // Find the implementation
                   DocumentBuilderFactory factory =
                        DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();
                   factory.setNamespaceAware(false);
                   factory.setValidating(false);
                   builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder();
                   impl = builder.getDOMImplementation();
                   //Read and parse the XML input stream into a DOM document
                   Document document = builder.parse(new InputSource(reader));
                   return document;
              } catch (IOException ex) {
                   throw new RuntimeException(
                        "[XMLLoader.loadFromFile]: Failed loading the InputStream. Root cause: \n"
                             + ex);
              } catch (Exception ex) {
                   throw new RuntimeException(
                        "[XMLLoader.loadFromFile]: Failed to initialize DOM factory. Root cause: \n"
                             + ex);

  • Urgent-Doubt in GUI_DOWNLOAD

    hi friends,
    In downloading data from internal table using GUI_DOWNLOAD i want only one space to be there after each field ...
    is it right to use write_field_seperator = '   '  or write_field_seperator = 'X'.
    i tried with 'X' i get tab delimited with multiple spaces , also tried with '  ' i got output fields with no space

    Hi Gokul,
    the function module GUI_DOWNLOAD is like this....
    <b>CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_DOWNLOAD'</b>
    EXPORTING
    BIN_FILESIZE =
    filename = 'C:\Documents and Settings\msgpool\Desktop\entries.txt'
    FILETYPE = 'ASC'
    APPEND = ' X'
    <b>write_field_separator = '|'</b>
    TABLES
    data_tab = it_final.
    in that function module you give like this means...
    <u>write_field_seperator = 'X'.</u> that indicates the separator in the file is <b><u>TAB</u></b>so you getting more space between fields....
    you want only one space to be there after each field ...so use like this..
    <b>write_field_seperator = 'SPACE'.</b>
    Now also you getting problem in ouput send a mail to my id....

  • Non English Charaters in Flat file(Note pad)

    Dear Friends,
    I have a flat file from presentation server which needs to be uploaded and do some validations on that file based on the data existing.
    I have some Russian language words in that file. E.g: "ОЩИ В ПОДГ". If this word exists in the file i need to get some other data from a database table. But when trying to check for the word, these characters are appearing as junk characters like ####&^^.
    I tried logging into RU language also, but still not working. And also tried changing the file as type Unicode, ASCII and also not worked.
    Please let me know how to get identify these words to see the exact russian words.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello,
    Is your file .txt file.If yes,while saving it gives a pop up for file name.There you have option for encoding, there select encoding as

  • No longer able to view NEF files in Bridge or edit in Camera Raw 4.6

    I have found similar questions in various Adobe forums, but I have not located a solution to my problem.
    Bridge CS3
    Photoshop CS3 Extended
    XP
    Camera Raw version 4.6.0.30
    Nikon D300s
    Up until 2 weeks ago I have been copying my NEF files from my CF card via reader, opening Bridge, selecting thumbnail of NEF and opening it in Photoshop CS3. At which point I can process with Camera Raw 4.6.
    Now, once new NEF files copied and Bridge opened, I only see NEF icons. When I double click the file, Photoshop opens and a box appears with the following text: Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.
    Upon inspecting the differences between NEF files that I can edit and the new NEF files that I cannot, I notice in the metadata file properties that the application of the successful files is ver. 2.00 and the duds is ver. 1.00.
    What "application" is the metadata referring to? I think this may be a Nikon setting, but it would help me understand the problem better if I knew what "application" this is.
    I can convert the new NEF files into jpgs using Adobe DNG Converter, but this GREATLY complicates a previously straightforward work flow process.
    Thank you for any light that may be shed on vexing dilemma,
    Kate

    Very grateful for your response and time.
    The Application I am talking about can be found when you open up a NEF file in Bridge and look at the Metadata tab on the right. Within that is the File Properties tab and the Application Ver. is the 3rd item from the top (after Filename and Document Type).
    Yes, I do have only the one ACR file (Camera Raw.8bi.) in the program file/COMMON FILE/Adobe/plug ins/cs3/file formats.
    I have also realized (brilliantly late in the game) that it is only the NEF files shot from my new D300s that do not work. No problem with the NEF files shot with my D100. So this leads me to conclude that my Bridge/Photoshop CS3 does not support the Camera Raw 5 that seems to be required for the D300s. Argh.
    By upgrading my camera equipment, I have outmoded my requisite software.
    I must say, that the recent post advisory on the forum site ("Raw files appear as icons") was supremely timely. While this does not solve my problem, it did help me understand the compatibility issues with the D300s and CS3. I have learned the following: D300s are supported by Camera Raw 5.5 which does not work with CS3. Is this correct?
    Dazed, but not beaten down,
    Kate

  • Xml parsing using dom4j

    I have some XML in String format, and I want to use the DocumentHelper.parseText() method on that string to parse it to Document format.
    I use it and it doesn't say anything about an error, however when I try to get "getelementroot()" and "getattributevalue" it gives me null.
    The XML looks like this:
    <Response status="1">
    <ERROR code="1">Offer is not available. </ERROR>
    <OFFER_ID>fPSC00010_PKG</OFFER_ID>
    </Response>
    I want to get the value of "status", i.e 1 in this case. So I do something like this:
    Element e = doc.getRootElement();
    String s = e.attributeValue("Status");
    Have I misunderstood something or what?

    Well I am not 100% sure why your code is causing a problem. I used dom4j 1 year ago.
    But I can give you my code snippet, the difference there to your snippet is that I first retrieved an Iterator over the Root element. And as I think the root element in your case is not the "Response" element it is more like a pointer to the start of the document. I am sorry for my vague explanation,it's too long age.
    But I am sure that you can use my example for your need effectively.
    public XMLMetaReader( String fileName )
            Document document = null;
            try
