Fill in blank cells of a Pivot Table Value field area

Hi,
In this workbook (http://1drv.ms/1oHk0QV), a normal Pivot Table has been created on the "Pivot Table" worksheet.  I'd like the blank cells of the Pivot Table to be filled up with the preceding non blank
value.  So to take an example of Product A, the following is what I want:
1. H5:N5 should have 1
2. P5:S5 should have 2
3. U5:W5 should have 2
4. Y5:BA5 should have 3
The same should be done for the others as well.
I have attempted something on the "PowerPivot" worksheet but I do not get the correct result.
Please help.

there you go:
YourMeasure:=CALCULATE([State value],
LASTNONBLANK(FILTER(ALL(Table2[Week]), Table2[Week] <= MAX(Table2[Week])), [State value])
it basically finds the last week with a valid [State Value] and shows it

  • Quickly fill in blank cells (Excel equivalent)?

I often import reports from Quicken into Numbers to create data tables for analysis purposes and find that I must fill in blank cells to ensure I have data consistency across rows.
While I am confident there is no built in way for Numbers to quickly populate these blank cells, I am asking here if AppleScript has the potential of providing the means.
The following link gives insight into how it is done with Excel. Does the AppleScript library provide the tools for something similar?

Again SGIII, more than I expected.  Thank you.
A zero is treated like an empty cell.  It is overwritten with the previous non zero valued cell.
Lastly, so that I understand what you provided, I inserted comments for each line of code.  Would you please look over my comments to confirm that I get it?
My problem with learning AppleScript is that while I think I understand the code while reading it, I don't know the AppleScript vocabulary to create the code myself.

    Tells…
—From the selected range, in a table, on a sheet, in a document, within Numbers...
    — Set the variable ‘pv’ to null.
    set pv to ""
    — Begin a loop starting from the initial cell in the selected range.
    — Define ’c’ as value in the current cell.
    repeat with c in cells
    — Copy the value of the current cell to the variable ‘v’.
    set v to c's value
    — If the current cell value stored in the variable 'v' is not zero, then copy the value 'v' to the variable 'pv'.
if v is not 0 then set pv to v
    — Otherwise, set the cell value defined by 'c' to be the value stored in 'pv'.
--Note: If nothing has been stored in 'pv', as in the case when 'v' is zero which occurs if zero or null is the first cell value in the selected range, then the cell is populated with a blank.
else set c's value to pv
    —Close the If.
    end if
    —Close the repeat loop.
    end repeat

  • Fill in blank cells with a "junk" value

    Greetings
If I have a table with 20 columns, and some rows that have data in varying numbers of the columns
    Col1 Col2 Col3 etc
    1
    4 4 4
    3 3
How can I fill in the blank cells with a junk value, say ffff?
I figure its going to involve the IF and IFBLANK functions, but I'm missing something. Perhaps I need to have it fill in a secondary table, instead of trying it with the "live data" table?
    Thanks!

If you are trying to do it in the same table you will have to pre-fill all cells with a formula or fill in the blank cells with a formula such as RAND. ISBLANK will not work in this case because you can't have a cell checking itself.
You could do this in a separate table with a formula such as
A1=IF(Table 1:: A1 = "", 10*RAND(), Table 1:: A1) and fill this to all the other cells in that table.

  • Cell color in pivot table depending on value from VO

    Hello.
We have a pivot table with two columns as data values.
We want those cells to change color. The condition for changing color is in an attribute that is not used in pivot table. It's only in VO (query).
Can this be done? We can change color when there is only one data value column and condition is data value column.
    Any idea?
I hope you understand the problem.
    Thanks.

    Hola,
Actually, the solution I found is to get the rowkey using the DataCellContext
    List keyList = (List)dataCellContext.getValue(DataMap.DATA_ROWKEY);
    if (keyList != null) {
         rowKey = (Key)keyList.get(0);
}and just get the row from the Iterator using this rowKey.
    DCIteratorBinding iter = ADFUtils.findIterator(ITERATOR);
    RowSetIterator rsi = iter.getRowSetIterator();
Row row = rsi.getRow(rowKey); Then we can select any attribut from the row and have fun
if it can be helpfull for someone

  • Hide Blank Rows in a Pivot Table in Outline Form in Excel 2010

In Excel 2010 Pivot Tables, using the Outline Format and Repeat Item Labels, is it possible to hide the rows with no data?  Please see atch.
    Doug in York PA
    Douglas R. Eckert

    Hi,
If you want to hide these subtotal rows, you have to use the Tabular forum, the Tabular layout is very similar to Outline except that you will not
have subtotals at the top of every group.
1.Right-click an item in the pivot table field, and click Field Settings
2.In the Field Settings dialog box, click the Layout & Print tab.
3.Check the 'Show item labels form in tabular form’
    check box.
    4.Click OK
Then your pivot table layout should look like the image below:
Let us know if that’s what you wanted.

  • Filling in the Blanks - Formula for "specific" fill of blank cells

I am still in the midst of my super extended spreadsheet project and I have come across one more issue that I am sure has an easy solution (using a formula). What I have is a table like this:
What I need is for every blank to be filled with the previous word directly above it so the original file would end up looking like this.
    smooth
    smooth
    tax-free
    public
    public
    fair 1
    fair 1
    part-time
    part-time
    inland
    inland
    another
    another
    another
    another
    agricultural
    cold
    cold
    cold
    cold
    cold
    freezing
    freezing
I would just do it by hand but seeing as how my spreadsheet has 60000+ entries it would be much nicer to let the computer do the work, right?!? Are there any formula experts out there who might be able to help me come up with one for this? Thanks in advance!!

You can do this using a simple formula.
To fill column B, for example, enter this in B2:
    =B1
Click Accept, then drag the handle at the bottom right of B2 down to fill the rest of column B.
When you enter data in any cell in column B, the entered date will replace the formula in that cell, and the formulas in the cells below will copy the entered data into every cell below until blocked by the next cell filled with entered data.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Fill Blank Cells in Column

I have a spreadsheet given to me that is a list. Column A is a nominal or catergorical variable (imagine something like "Nationality") and column B is a ratio variable (imagine something like "height").
Unfortunately not all of the rows have data filled out column A. The issue is identical to the one presented here in MS Excel: http://www.contextures.com/xlDataEntry02.html
I would like to calculate averages for the subgroups in column A. I could do this manually be selecting each range of data in column B, but with thousands of cells and many subcategories, it would take a long time. From what I can see Numbers "categories" function won't work as I would like if there are blank cells, so it seems I would need to fill in the blank data, to make a proper nominalised database list. Rather than do this manually with manual fills, is there a way to do it programatically? I can't manage the trick for MS Excel in the aforementioned website, as Numbers only allows filtering for blank cells, rather than selecting blank cells.
    I hope someone can help.

    And now, the script :
    --[SCRIPT fillblankcells]
Enregistrer le script en tant que Script : fillblankcells.scpt
déplacer le fichier ainsi créé dans le dossier
    <VolumeDeDémarrage>:Users:<votreCompte>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Numbers:
Il vous faudra peut-être créer le dossier Numbers et peut-être même le dossier Applications.
Sélectionner une cellule dans la colonne à compléter.
menu Scripts > Numbers > fillblankcells
Si une cellule de la colonne est vide, le script l'alimente avec le contenu de la dernière cellule remplie qui la précéde.
    --=====
    L'aide du Finder explique:
L'Utilitaire AppleScript permet d'activer le Menu des scripts :
Ouvrez l'Utilitaire AppleScript situé dans le dossier Applications/AppleScript.
Cochez la case "Afficher le menu des scripts dans la barre de menus".
    --=====
Save the script as a Script: fillblankcells.scpt
Move the newly created file into the folder:
    <startup Volume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Numbers:
Maybe you would have to create the folder Numbers and even the folder Applications by yourself.
Select a cell in the column to fill.
menu Scripts > Numbers > fillblankcells
The script will fill every blank cell of this column with the contents of the preceeding filled cell.
    --=====
    The Finder's Help explains:
To make the Script menu appear:
Open the AppleScript utility located in Applications/AppleScript.
Select the "Show Script Menu in menu bar" checkbox.

  • Fill blank cells in power query from the cell above

Is it possible in Power Query to fill blank
In excel I can choose them by using "go to special" > "blanks" dialogue, and using referrence like "=R-1C"
Is it possible to fill this blank cells with value of cell above if Import this file in power query?
    Thank you

I am using Power Query preview Version: 2.9.3547.162 and there is a 'Fill Down' command in the transform section that does just that.

  • How to autofill blank cells in an entire document?

Is there a way of filling blank cells in the entire document, not just surrounding cells as the fill-function works? In other programms you search " " and fill (replace) it with "0" for example. Doesn't work with the Find/Replace function in Numbers.

    A cell containing " " (a space) is not a blank cell.
When cells contain this string, the Search / Replace tool behaves flawlessly and replace the spaces by the wanted string.
To fill the blank cells, I know only one soluce : AppleScript.
Here is a script doing the trick.
    --[SCRIPT fillblank_cells_withclipboard]
Enregistrer le script en tant que Script : fillblank_cells_withclipboard.scpt
déplacer le fichier ainsi créé dans le dossier
    <VolumeDeDémarrage>:Users:<votreCompte>:Library:Scripts:Applications:Numbers:

Select a cell which is at top left of the range to fill?
Go to the Scripts Menu, choose Numbers, then choose fillblank_cells_withclipboard
The script will fill every blank cell of the defined range with the value extracted from the clipoard.

  • Hiding the blank cells in Webi report - BO 4.0

    Hi,
I have created a webi report in which i have used different types of blocks
    1) Form table
    2) Verticle table
    3) Horizontal table.
so now in real time there chances that some of the blocks will not have any data.(i.e it displays blank cell) in the report.
so now i have to hide only the blank cells and not the table headers.that means though the cells are blank i have to display headers.
what formatting changes i need to achieve this in Webi Report.
If anybody does this please let me know the step by step logic in detail.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Naga Nanda Kishore.

    Hi,
We cannot hide specifc cells in WebI, however we can choose to whether to display or not empty measure values and empty dimension value.
So you need to select the desired block-> Right Click  and Select Format Table-> Uncheck Show rows with empty dimension values or Show rows with empty measure values whichever is required to be hidden.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Manpreet

  • Converting fromula in pivot tables in EXcel 2013

I'm looking to convert to Formulas in Excel 2013. The Help function says that the functionality resides in the pivot table tools-> Analyze->in the Calculations group> click OLAP tools > click convert to formula
This is grayed out in my worksheet and I am clicking on a cell within the Pivot table
The pivot table source is an other excel worksheet in the same workbook that is not OLAP data (I don't even really know what that is)
Is there something i need to do to ungray the OLAP tools icon? Or is this no longer possible. This functionality in 2007 was not tied to OLAP tools
    Thanks

    Hi,
As far as I know, only the Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) PivotTable report by using converting formula.
The data source must be imported from "Data tab>From other source>From Analysis Services" and then we could use the converting formula.

  • Question about inputting data to a pivot table

    Hi,
I have 2 questions about using the ADF pivot table component (I would like it for data input).
    1. Is it possible to paste into multiple cells (i.e. using cut in Excel for example, and then pasting the cells into the pivot table) ?
    2. What is the recommended approach for the case where there is no data values (no rows on the database table)? For example, if I have regions, products, measures and time periods and then want to be able to select some regions and some products to enter new sales figures - and then create the rows on the database with save button, is there a recommended way to do this?
    (Jdeveloper version: 11.1.2.0.0)

Anybody able to help with this?

My company recently upgraded from Excel 2003 to 2010. I had VBA written to take source data and convert it into a number of Pivot Tables on a number of worksheets. It has been working fine for years. After upgrading to 2010 the VBA crashed. I tracked it
down to the fact that when my code was making changes to the Pivot Tables (changing fields, filters, etc...) the pivot table on the worksheet had no data, but the fields were there. I can manually go to the pivot table and manually refresh and all the data
    comes in.
So I tried adding the VBA code to refresh the pivot table, but the pivot tables will not refresh with data.
    I tried:
    ActiveSheet.PivotTables("WO Pivot").RefreshTable
    and
    ActiveWorkbook.RefreshAll
    And these did not work.
I also tried recording a macro for the manual steps to refresh and got:
     ActiveSheet.PivotTables("WO Pivot").PivotCache.Refresh
    This does not work either.
The PivotTable name is correct, but I tried using the number as well, and the name works for other code manipulating the the pivot table.
    e.g.:
    With ActiveSheet.PivotTables("WOPivot").PivotFields("Task Title")
          .Orientation = xlRowField .Position = 2
.Subtotals = Array(False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, False, _False, False)
    End
With Why isn't this working? Is there another way to refresh pivot table data in 2010?
Thanks. P.S. I've tried formating this so it is readable, but it comes out garbled. Hope this looks better.

The solution above didn't work for me, but the following did the trick:
    ActiveSheet.PivotTables("WOPivot").PivotCache.Refresh
By the way, I identified it by recording a macro, then going on the Pivot Table that needed refreshing and pressing F9 to refresh it. The line of VBA code above was the result.
    Cheers,
    Marco.
