Fillable forms blank in attachment

Hi,
I have created a fillable PDF form but when I send it as an attachment and open it on my iPhone I cant see the content that I entered into the text boxes.
Any ideas?

Here are a couple of links that might help you.
Also, if you wouldn't mind, you could send me the pdf and I can see if I can figure anything out?

  • Fillable forms blank after emailing

I am using an old version of Acrobat- Acrobat9 Pro.  I have created a number of fillable forms to streamline the admin part of a project I am doing. The forms work fine to complete and save.  But when I email them to someone, more than half the time they come through as blank.  Any idea about how to fix this?

    BUMP!

  • Fillable forms come back BLANK mainly from Mac Users

    Hello,
I created a fillable form from scratch in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended version 9.3.2, using Adobe Livecycle Designer ES version 8.2.1.  I'm on Windows XP.  When I first created the form I saved it on the company server, but, I can't remember why, I had to save it on the desktop in order to distribute it (I'm not sure if this detail is important for the issue).
I sent the blank fillable form via email as an attachment to about 50 people (not in my organization) with the filename application_distributed.pdf.  Knowing the population that received it, I would say that the majority of them filled it out in Adobe Reader.  I asked them to fill it out, save it with a different name, and send it back to me.
Out of the 50 forms I got back, 40 came through fine, while the other 10 came back completely blank.  6 of these 10 people used a Mac computer (some of them said they were using "Preview", a Mac version of Adobe, according to them), a couple of them used a pc, and I wasn't able to find out about the other 2.
I sent the same form twice to a colleague who has both a pc and a Mac at home, and asked her to fill out the first one on her pc, and the 2nd one on her Mac, and to send them back to me in two separate emails.  They both came back to me filled out perfectly.
I have been scratching my head trying to figure out what the common denominator is amongst the 10 people whose form came back blank...  At the beginning, after I discovered that the first 3 people were Mac users, I thought maybe it was an operating system incompatibility issue, but when I started getting blank forms from pc users, I got more puzzled.
I was on the phone with Adobe Technical Support for a couple of hours on 5/18/2010, and they asked me to submit the form to them so they could look into it since they couldn't solve the problem by phone, but so far, 3 weeks later, I have not heard back from them.
Today I finally decided to go on this forum and ask for help.  If anybody has any idea about what the issue might be and how to solve it, I would be eternally grateful.
    Thank you!

That should work yes. Not to say that there isn't anything else that will cause this but it's the typical reason why it happens.
It shouldn't cause any conflicts in a Mac. At worst, Reader may want to open PDF's by default but they can easily switch that back by highlighting a PDF, choosing File>Get Info>Open with, choosing Preview and clicking "Change all". When I installed Reader, Mac Preview remained the default Reader until I told it to use Reader.
Mac and Windows users can get the reader at http://get.adobe.com/reader/?promoid=BUIGO. It will detect their OS and give them the correct download.
One thing, if they decide to keep Preview as their default PDF Reader then they will have to actually open Reader and use File>Open to open PDF's in Reader.

  • Fillable forms saving blank

I have Adobe Standard and created a fillable form.  When some people try and save this doc, it only saves as the blank form and not what they had filled in.  Why is this happening?

Was this form saved as a Reader Extended PDF (Enable Additional Features)?

  • Fillable form appears blank when completed

when a client returns a completed fillable form the fields appear to be blank. When clicking on a field i can see that response, but only 1 field at a time if i click on them Why does this happen? How can it be solved?

    Check this:

If the user fills out the form using Preview on a Mac (instead of Acrobat/Reader), I believe it will exhibit the symptoms you describe. The following thread is where I got that link (GKeiseril posted it in the 4th message) although it may not have been the issue for the poster who started that discussion:

  • Combining blank fillable forms

I have created a fillable form and want to duplicate several copies of it into one multi page document - is this possible and if so how?
obviously i want to avoid the whole form field renaming issue and as it is a blank form dont want to flatten the fields.
i hoped that making them into a portfolio would do the trick but when i try i get a black screen and a message to update my flash to a version that supports acrobat and reader - i am running version 11.6.602.168

With Acrobat forms form fields with the same name and type will change together. This has how Acrobat forms have worked since they were introduced.

  • How does one attach other documents to a fillable form that was created?

How does one attach other documents to a fillable form that was created?

Are you asking about a web form or a PDF form? PDF forms don't support this, but for a web form you'd use File Attachment type field.

  • How to flatten a fillable form on iOS

Ever since the latest iOS update, our fillable reader extended PDF's are not working properly in the Reader App. I created fillable forms and save as a "reader extended" file. When we open the file on the Reader App, we can fill in the form and sign, but when we go to email the form it attaches the blank form to an email. It does not offer the "Share Original" or "Flatten copy" option before going into the email. We use this feature for mobile devices to sign contracts on site vs. going on a laptop. If I open a normal PDF file, a non fillable form, I can email the original or flattended copy from the reader app but this is not needed on a normal PDF. How can I share the flattened copy of a fillable form from the reader app on the iPhone/iPAD? Is this issue going to be resolved or are there settings I need to change in the PDF file before saving it for reader extended?

  • Sign +  in Fillable Forms

    Hi
I am trying to fill one of the fillable forms (pdf)online. However for some fileds the space provided is not enough. Such as for a date, when I type 2008 I see a + sign as I type 8, so when I print the form I see 200+ instead of 2008, as if there isn't enough space for the character 8, or so I think. How can I fix this? Thanks

How can a user, with the free Adobe Acrobat reader, fill in and return a form, electronically, with the content of all fields kept intact?
As the user, with Adobe Reader 9.0.0 (and the "AcroForm.api" Plug-In, Version "9.0.0 6/12/2008"), I can not find any way to fill out and return the form PDFs I receive from my employer (for annual peer reviews) or from other organizations for online registration (trailnet.org, for long distance bicycle rides).
I get the "You cannot save data typed into this form. Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records." message, when I open the file, and the "This document does not allow changes to be saved. Any changes you have made will not be included in the document when it is mailed. Do you want to continue?" message when I do "File -> Attach to Email...". In IE, "File -> Send -> Page By E-mail..." does not display an error message, but like all other options, it sends a blank form, cleared of all data.
Here's an example form I can't seem to fill out and send electronically:
    http://www.trailnet.org/documents/08-10-bfc-century_register.pdf
It seems like I must be missing something obvious, because otherwise the functionality would be much less useful than we thought.
Thank you for any advice or suggestions you may be able to offer!

  • Email fillable form without having to save

    Hi,
I am using Acrobat Pro 9 to create a fillable form and the users of this form will have Acrobat Reader 9 or earlier.
Is there a way to email a completed, fillable pdf so the recipient of the email will receive the completed form but the sender does not have to save the form prior to sending?
I've created this fillable form on a shared network drive for our staff to complete when they want to request time off from work.  In order to avoid using paper, I want them to fill out this form electronically and email it to their supervisor but I don't want them to be able to save the filled out form.     I tested the form and when I fill it out and send it to myself, it comes back as blank...unless I save a copy of it which I don't want to do.
    Any comments would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

Thanks for the response Bill.  The form was created using Acrobat Pro 9.
I understand the concept of having to save the form but not the data however most of my staff are not very computer literate and I need to keep it as simple as possible:
    1. Open the form, fill it out and hit Send.
    2. Recipient opens the email, clicks the attachment and reads the form.
I don't mind setting things up and doing the hard work but if the users have to do anything other than 1 and 2, then its not worth setting up.
I guess the main issue with staff keeping a copy of the form is that they can then go back, change something on the form (ie, the date they want time off from work) and then resend the form.  Sounds childish but you don't know the people I work with.  lol
Maybe I should ask:  is there a way to automatically generate a date stamp on a document once it is saved and it can't be deleted or altered?  If a completed form is sent to the supervisor and the date stamp is before the current date, the supervisor will know that the form was altered.
    Thanks,

  • Forms blank when sent from IPAD.

I've created a fillable form on my PC.  All of the recipients use IPAD.  When they fill out the form and email it back to me it is blank.  When I do it from my PC it works fine.  Can someone help me figure out why???  We downloaded Adobe Reader to the IPADs to fill them out....but when they click to email it back, the form clears....HELP!!

Hello Georganne, I would like to get some information to understand what you're seeing, so we can help you through, or discover if there's a bug that we need to fix.
When you say they fill out the form on theur iPad and return it, that the form is blank. I'd like to dig on this a little more to make sure of the exact situation. Are you opening the form on your PC and seeing the form as empty? Or are they saying that when they look at the attached form in the iPad email application it appears blank?
I ask this question because the iPad email app's rendering of PDF has a bug that makes it not render form contents, so it may appear blank there, even if the data is in the form. If you got the form and looked at it on your PC, and the data just isn't there, that is a different problem that is in our product somewhere.
If you could send a sample of the file you sent out, along with a response that was returned empty, we can take a look and give a more definitive answer.
Please send the files and the context of this thread to [email protected], and we will get back with you on what we discover.

  • How do I NOT allow a PDF Fillable form I've created to be saved?

I just got XI Pro ... I've never had a pro version before.  A co-worker who has used pro for ages (but has an older version) showed me how to make it so that a PDF filled form could be saved by another user.  However, in the version I have it seems that the ability for another user to save a PDF filled form is automatic ... I can't figure out how to shut it off.
Our PDF fillable forms will be on our website, but we DO NOT WANT a user to be able to save the filled or the blank form.  Looking for a PRINT-ONLY option once it's been filled out.
    Anyone have any ideas??
    Thanks!

This was recent;y discussed here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5881211
There was a major change made with Reader 11 that allows it to save filled-in forms, add all sorts of comments/markups, and some other things without the document needing to be Reader-enabled, unlike all previous versions. This is what you're noticing. So the best you can do is attempt to clear the fields when the document is saved and/or when it's opened.

  • How do I get the text in a fillable form to print?

I have a unique problem in that I frequently use fillable forms downloaded from one particular site (court forms). All of the forms I can fill in and print without a problem...except for one. I can fill it out, save it, but when it prints, it prints out blank. I assume there is somet mistake with this particular form that the permissions are set to not allow the text to print, but I can't figure out how or if I can change that. Again, it's only with this one form (see link below). I have no such problem with any other fillable PDF on this or any other site.
    http://www.courts.state.hi.us/docs/form/hawaii/3FP272.pdf
    Thanks for any help.

Report this issue to the form's authors. Since it's secured it's not easy to find out what the cause of the problem is, but more than likely they set up the fields as "visible, but doesn't print", instead of "visible".

  • My newly created fillable form is not saving the data input by applicant

I have created a fillable form from a word document using Acrobat XI. This has been uploaded to our careers website, however, feedback from some applicants is that have completed this rather detailed application form they are unable to save the newly input information and thus when the forms come back to us they are blank.  Is there a setting that I should have applied to prevent this from happening?

It sounds like the users with the problem are using Adobe Reader older the version XI. For those users the form requires Extended Form Rights be applied tot he PDF form by you before they can save the from.

  • Acrobat Pro XI - I can't seem to be able to edit font sizes in a PDF Fillable Form

I have a PDF fillable Form which I wish to complete except for a few fields that need to be completed each time the form is submitted, and save it with those static fields completed and signed with an image of my signature.
Sometimes the font seems to auto change it's size to fit in the field it is intended for, other times it is either too small to read or too large to fit in the box and be readable.  I've chosen the arrow tool and the menu choice Edit; Edit Text and Images, and they don't really seem to do anything.
One part of the form has two fields for phone numbers (Business and Home) and the Business entry is always too tiny to read, while the Home field is OK.
Aside from that, there are also two boxes with drop down menus which say Select with an arrow next to them, and one of them for example has choices of Male and Female.  If I select one, later when the form is printed, the gender choice is overprinting on the word Select, making it hard to read.

Thanks for explaining that.  I wish I had "Locked" all the fields before I started then, since I did get somehow get a couple of them rearranged by accident and it took some (not a lot) of work to get them back in the proper order.
For the present file, which I am not adding captions to, how would I set the "read only' property?  I looked around in the Tools area and the only thing that looked possible that I found was Protection; Restrict Editing but I didn't go farther yet because it wanted me to set a password before proceeding.
Is it possible to make individual fields "Read Only" rather than the whole document?
As for the signatures, what I did is sign on a piece of paper, scan that into a JPG file, and then choose "Sign" from the top menu bar between the Tools and Comment choices:
This allowed me to drag the image of my signature to the line on the form where I am supposed to sign it, and place it there.  Then when I save the form with that signature on it, if I open it again and go to Forms Edit, I get a message that the form contains no Form Fields, and asks it I want Acrobat to detect fields for me.  If I choose yes, it then detects fields that were not previously filled in, but not the fields in which I had placed default entries before saving it.
I see where you mean about Signature on the left pane, but if I open that after loading a PDF that I signed using the above procedure, it detects no signature.  So the "Digital Signature" you mention must not be the image of the signature like I am using.  So if I want to  make the image of my signature into a "Digital Signature" that can be verified, do I have to go to some third party paid procedure like Verisign or EchoSign or something or can I somehow self certify the image of my signature?
I notice, as a side issue, that if I upload the blank unmodified PDF Form to Acrobat.com, it lets me fill it out and saves the file with a "form" extension, and they have a menu choice to Sign, but if you choose that you just get a box in which it expects you to draw your signature with your finger or a stylus I guess, but the result doesn't look much like my signature, and then if you save it to the computer, it does save it as a PDF file, but if you try to print it, the printed document is blank, so that is kind of useless.
    Thanks for your continued help!
