Filter for movie trailer voice over?

Does anyone know of a filter I can use in CS6 or purchase that will enable me to alter my voice to sound more like one of those scholarly sounding voice overs used for movie trailers?
Thanks.

Maybe you don't need a " filter" for after the fact.. you may be able to make your voice sound like that as you record it....
For example, if you wanna sound like a smart person from New England states.. you can put a clothes pin on your nose as you speak.
Use words like, " one has to know one's history to know one's potential, doesn't one ? "
Alternately, if you wanna sound like someone from the SouthWest.. like Texas for example, you can talk through a sock....just roll up a common cotton sock and speak through it into mic....and use words like, " Heck, it aint rocket science to know about the history of this place ! "
add some background stuff like cattle braying and you're in like Flint !

Is it possible that Garageband can be configured to create the movie trailer-like voiceover effect?
I always wanted to know how to do it as it would have a big impact when moviemaking. What other good voiceover settings can be created that are just like those in Hollywood movies?

If I were you, I'd start by recording something (with your face close to the microphone for "proximity effect" - which deepens your voice) along the lines of...
"In a place FAR away, and a time before LIGHT, when CHAOS ruled the Earth, ONE MAN emerged to change things... FOREVER!!! And that man was <insert name of man here>."
Then, I'd add some effects... compression, reverb, pitch change (maybe), etc.
Then, after you get that to sound about right, all that's left is to make the movie.

  • How to Add Still Photo for Movie Trailer?

I can't get iMovie '11 to see any of my iPhoto still pictures to add to a Movie Trailer. How can I do this? The photo icon is gray.

The Trailers don't accept stills, as they are designed to work only with video clips. However, a workaround is to convert the Trailer to a normal project (File>Convert to Project). Then you can edit the project like any other. A downside though is that any modifications you make may cause the music and images to go out of sync. The video and music could end up finishing at different times. You may therefore have to add your own music, lessening the impact of the predesigned theme. NOTE: Before converting, Duplicate the Trailer first, then convert the duplicate. To duplicate, right-click on the Project name in the Project Library then select Duplicate Project.
You could create a project containing just the stills you want to use in the Trailer. Export the project at full size, then re-import to an iMovie Event. That will effectively create a movie from the stills which should then be available for the Trailers. I haven't tested this but assume it will work, given that the stills have now been converted to video.
PS. I just tested the procedure described in my last paragraph above. It works perfectly. In fact you can use the Ken Burns effect on the photos before exporting, creating movement on the stills, which works great with the Trailers!

  • Recomendations for Recording Quality Voice Over in Captivate

We have been working with Captivate to create training
materials for about six months and like it a lot. We are using a
lot of voice overs in our trainings. At the moment I'm using a mid
to low range headset to record the voice over. It is a step up from
your cheap VOIP headset but still isn't a high end model. It cost
about 30 euros. The quality is acceptable but could be improved
    upon.
I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations about
headsets/microphone recording equipment to optimize the quality
when recording voice in Captivate. Are there also any
recommendations about what sort of software is optimal? Are some
sound cards better than others etc? I've tried to find this info in
the Captivate documentation but haven't found any recommendations.
If anyone could give me your own experience or point me in
the right direction for any Adobe recommendations I'd appreciate
    it.
    Many thanks,
    Aimee

Don't use Captivate 2 or 3 built in audio recorder, it
introduces the degradations you experience. We use Adobe Audition
(now Soundbooth) to record and then simply import to the library.
You could of course use any external recording program, just don't
use the Captivate internal recorder and you will get pristine sound
    everytime.
To rerecord or add more to the recording simply right mouse
click from the library and it will launch Audition. Mono 44.1khz,
700 or better kbps for voice recording will result in an excellent
hiss free, no start or end click sound when you play. You must then
find the recording after you have saved your edit in Audition and
right click to update the new changes. It will update the file in
the library and the slide together.
When saving your recording use a naming convention such as
    module 1,chapter 1,slide1 (M1_C1_S1) that way multiple slide 1
recordings will not confuse you in the library when there are
multiple slide 1's from different chapters.

  • I movie cannot voice over

Since i do the projects, i can voice over and export to mp4 files many many files.
Last few days I found that I couldn't voice over anymore, i clicked on the button (microphone), nothing happened. Then I tried to save the movie, it couldn't too.
Now i need some help to export all of my files from Theater. Or any suggestion to get my files back.
    Thanks in advance.

Drag the iMovie application from the Applications folder to the trash. Empty the trash.
    Reboot.
Go to the Mac App Store and in the "purchases" section, re-download and install iMovie.

  • Split movie into two movies, including voice-over and Titles?

I recently made a movie PROJECT out of video and stills and now want to burn it to DVD but it is too long.  I want to make two 45 minute movies out of it but can't figure out how to split the second half of the movie off from the first half AND be able to take along my voiceovers and Title pages.  I can get the movie to go, but when I try to highlight, copy and paste the voiceovers and titles into the new project it will not work.  Any way to do this??

Go to the Project Library view so you see your project as a filmstrip with all the other projects.
Select your Project, and click FILE/DUPLICATE PROJECT. Give it a name like My Project Part 1.
Do it again. Give it a name like y Project Part 2.
For Project Part 1, delete the second half and anything you don;t need.
For Project Part 2, delete the first half, but keep any titles you need.

  • Mic suggestions for recording guitar/voice over the air?

    Hey Folks,
I have an acoustic guitar and would like to buy a mic that would do a decent job of recording both the guitar and my voice. Is there anything in the $50 or less price range? As you can tell, I'm not serious, but would like something a step up from the internal mic.
    Thanks!

you can take a look at the USB mics here:
    http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/Microphones.html
but the low end model would probably be a step up only because it won't pick up the HD and fan noises of the computer, if you can swing $79, the middle one should get nicer sound

  • Voice Over (VO) Commands - turning this function on and off

I accidentally pressed a function key and a tutorial began for something called +"Voice Over".+ There were instructions printed onscreen and a computerized voice was reading them aloud. Apparently when you hit CONTROL and OPTION keys together with other keys they do something. Well...I didn't need to go through the whole tutorial since I accessed it by mistake so I pressed ESC to stop it. The tutorial stopped and I attempted to continue doing what I had been doing, however every time I hit a key or performed an action my computer "spoke" to me, telling me exactly what key I was pressing, what I was seeing, what I had just done, what I was about to do, etc. Also, on the lower left of the screen was a large window that wrote out every word the computer was "speaking". It seems like I somehow activated a setting for the hearing and/or visually impaired.
*QUESTION: How do I turn this function off? And what key did I accidentally touch that turned this function on so I know what to avoid in the future?* I have searched through the online manual and did a quick scan of other threads here but I did not see anything related to this issue. I could not find anything on Apple's "System Preferences" menu that applied either. All I could think of to do was mute the sound on my computer until I figure out how to turn "the voice" off.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

You're welcome! I'm glad I could help. It was SO annoying, wasn't it? I tried just about everything until my friend told me the solution...which was so simple I felt like an idiot.

  • Voice over - which mic?

I want to add a voice over track in Final Cut. I thought I'd be able to plug my Rode Stereo VideoMic straight into the audio in socket on my MacBook Pro. However when I tried doing that, the volume level is very very low. (I have turned volume to full in both system preferences and in the voice-over display in Final Cut).
What sort of mic do I need to do this? Is there a tech spec listed anywhere on the apple site? I notice on the UK apple store the mic's listed use XLR cables so these won't fit straight into a macs audio socket.I really don't want to buy a mixer for the occasional voice over.
    any thoughts welcome
    thanks
    Steve

    Hi Steve
I use Blue Microphone's "Snowball." It's an excellent USB Mic at a reasonable price -- about $100.00.
    See here: http://www.bluemic.com/products/snowball
On one occasion, in the field, I needed to record a voiceover. I didn't have the right equipment with me, and I needed to get it done. I just used my video camera's built-in mic. I did the job.
But do check out Blue Microphones. They have other models that may better suit your needs.
    Carl
PS I have no connection to Blue Microphones and will not receive any compensation for my suggestion.

  • Sound Voice over questions

    A few sound questions...
Is there a way to capture only the sound to save space from my Camera...?
When using voice over, it collects all the fan noise from the computer... is there a solution for this?
Is anyone aware of a Digital Voice recorder that could be used and converted for narration and voice over.... ?
    I have mac without intel
I Mac 17 inch with superdrive Mac OS X (10.3.9)
    Thanks

Thanks so far... I am just looking to get voice over picture narration... so just need voice recording ... Now if I can pull music off a CD... is there a way to record on a digital voice recorder and transfer to CD...
The Imac does not have a plug for an external mic, that I can find...
The problem as I see it with recording voice on Camera is that I just need the voice, not the picture and so it uses up a lot of memory to do voice over in Camera since I have to import the useless picture as well so if I am being clear here, I am just trying to have sound tracks such as the ones you can import off a CD
I have been looking a digital voice recorders but most do not seem to work with mac... and I am not exactly sure of what sound file type transfers into FCE via Itune import.
So the short question here are what are the options just for sound files for FCe?

  • Voice-over audio goes offline for no reason.  Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

This is happening on both my editors.  I will add a voice-over track to the storyline and if I close out that project or close out FCPX, sometimes my voiceover track is offline.  NO, I DID NOT MOVE THE FILE OR ERASE ANYTHING.  I appreciate any input.

    Hey there 79usma79!
I have a couple of articles for you that can help you troubleshoot the issues you are seeing with iTunes on Windows XP. The first is a general troubleshooting article, which can be found right here:
iTunes for Windows XP: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1421
This article can help you find out if there are any conflicts between your copy of Windows XP and iTunes, and can tell you what to do if there are. Before going down the troubleshooting route though, you should take a look at this article, which can help you back up your entire iTunes library to an external hard drive, so if this issue is recurring, you will be able to restore from that backup and will not have to worry about losing your playlists or music again:
iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • Is there not an app similar to the iTunes movie trailer app for the mac? i perviously owned a macbook pro and had a built-in app for movie trailers this was one of my favourite parts of the mac system.

i am trning to find the movie trailer app that was built in on my late model macbook pro. if this isnt still an option, i would like to know my other options.

There is a way to see (in small window) short bits and parts of video movies, where they exist, in the iTunes application from the store page in there. My older Mac with earlier version of iTunes lets me browse Music, Movies, TV stores, from the sections on the iTunes application; years ago there was more direct content. They used to have a site page for some of those clips... I haven't looked lately.
A screenshot of a video clip ^ from the iTunes Movie store, via iTunes in my Mac.
If you browse the items for sale/rent, a few have a tiny triangle on them and this opens the little window where a preview runs. A few actual movies will have an option to see a preview or trailer-like video in a similar small window that opens up over the store screen.
The older iTunes application in earlier Mac systems had various other features. In order to view movie trailer kinds of content streamed from the internet, you may have to look into a third party application or a web page.
There may be a list of applications included with certain models of Mac portables
and if you can find that name, that may be a talking point. The Store has lists of
what software may be included in the most recent Macs in each products info.
{There was no mention prior to your reply...
    that you did not want to make movies, btw.}
    Good luck & happy computing!

Thank you Shootist007. I cannot do even Update now. I probably should have spent the same amount of money on a new IMac!
No not really. If this is a brand new Macbook Pro take it back for a refund. Apple has a 14 day No Questions Asked return policy for Full refund.
Take it back, get the Full Refund (DO NOT LET THEM TRY TO FIX IT. YOU BOUGHT A NEW COMPUTER NOT ONE THAT HAS BEEN WORKED ON OR NEEDS TO BE FIXED) and then decide whether to buy another Macbook Pro or the iMac. Or you could return it, get the Full refund and buy some other brand computer.

  • How Do I Watch/Preview Movie and Record Audio (voice over) Simultaneously

First.. thank for taking the time to read this post -- much appreciated.
I located another post that someone reported which is almost identical to issue I am experiencing with Garageband. Here is the link
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4741084&#4741084
I have attempted to follow through the solution that was provided, however I was unable to successfully resolve the issue.
Essentially, what I would like to do is this. After importing my iMovie project to Garageband, with a use of a Mic, I wish to record a commentary audio track or voice over while I watch my video/movie in the Movie Preview pane from the Track Info window at the same time. I can not rely on the Movie track line as my preview or movie window to watch the movie.
However, for some reason, I can not figure out how I can get the movie preview pane to show/display while I am recording. To help illustrate my problem, I have I posted a video of the issue. Please feel free to view the video and help me understand if this is by-design behavior in GB or a bug or simple 'user error'

    Thank you!

Hey Hangtime, give you permission to kick me in the head! I feel stupid now knowing that it is a silly user error. Here I was trying to figure out if its in the 'Details' frame.
In otherwords, 'Detail's is set to '>' and not pointing downwards.
Funny thing is, you would think there would be a scroll bar to move up and down to reveal the Movie Preview frame if the 'Details' pane is expanded in the Track Info window.
    In any case... Thanks HT!
