Filter in Attribute view

I basically want to have a view that displays two columns from my table, but not have any of the columns repeat the same ID or Name
For example if table data looked like this
Name ID
John 204
John 204
John204
Mel 205
Mel 205
Mary 205
I want the View to display
Name ID
John 204
Mel 205
Mary 206
I feel as though there is a real easy solution to this but I'm not sure how to do it.
Thanks,
Connor

Hi,
It will depends on ur data modelling.. and the logic
mainly 3 views
Attribute view  - consists of dimension or master tables
analytical view - along with attribute view or some master tables it will have  fact table or transaction table table (basically a numeric or measure column presenting in a table)
Calculation view - based on ur logic u can choose graphical/ complex -scripting methods...
(Graphical, scripting)
but in each step u should check the data integrity # no records retrieved are correct or not.., because in ur table if u r having composite relationships then data may go for looping especially when u r using analytical view..
so for simple architecture or aggregation columns u can go for analytical view
i enclosed  file in which it explains the modeling structure on what purpose we need to use the 3 types of view..
hope this will help you.
Thanks,
Thara

  • Datetime filter in Power View

    Hello,
I have made a power view report from an ssas cube. Despite the fact that the attribute fulldate (see following image)
has date type on the cube when I choose advanced on the filter it is being treated like string. I would like this to be treated as date (see following image, I apologize for being in Greek)
    What should I do?
    Thank you very much,
    Andreas

    Hi Sagar,
Based on my test, it is not support to use custom filter in Power View report. However, powerview provides advanced filter mode to filter our field. Please refer to the following steps:
In Excel, select the Power View tab, click Filters Area.
In the Filters area, click Advanced filter mode.
Then, we can according to our requirement to set the filter conditions.
Please refer to the following screenshot:
There is an article about Filtering in Power View, you can refer to it.

Are you using same revision Studio than the database?

  • Error Message in Query Filter on attribute of 0MATERIAL filters charac.

    Hi All,
i have a query with few variables , i used navigational attributes of 0material......
I am getting the below Warning Message...  Ineed to supress the below Error Message....
Please let me know the solution...
Error Message: Filter on attribute of 0MATERIAL filters charac. values without master data
    Diagnosis
Currently, it cannot be guaranteed that SIDs and master data exists for all characteristic attributes for the DataStore object to be read.
There is a restriction on a navigation attribute of the listed characteristic in the query. This filters all characteristic values of the master-data bearing characteristic for which there is not yet master data out of the result.
For performance reasons, this filtering is unavoidable.
    System Response
    Procedure
In case of doubt, find other restirctions directly on the characteristic values of the characteristics contained in the DataStore object.
    Procedure for System Administration
      Notification Number DBMAN 345
    Thanks All

    Dear all SAP Gurus,
we've solved this problem and this is the solution:
The warning is triggered by the method CL_RSDRV_ODS_QUERY-PROCESS_SFC_WITH_ATR when the BExFlag of the InfoProvider is not set. Using DSOs for direct update there is no change to change the BExFlag. As a result queries based on a DSO for direct update always throw the above mentioned warning when filter-characteristics are attributes.

  • Filter a table view

    Hi All,
In a compound layer with 2 table views, is it possible to filter only one of them? (if I apply the filter in Criteria Tab or Column formulla it applies to all the views, so I need to apply the filter after retriving the results)
    Thanks,
    Regards

    Hi,
If you are applying filter under criteria it will effect the whole report. It mean what ever views you are using will get effected.
Can do in this way..didnt check but you can try ;)...
Use FILTER function to make filter get effected to only one column. Now pull two same columns on which you want filter. Now apply filter on column and other column without filter.
Use two pivot table view, you can use one column with filter in one view and the other column without filter in the other view and place the unwanted column in each view under excluded section.
    FILTER(Table.Column USING Condition) in fx
If you are using table view i am not sure if its possible or not because we should use all the columns which are in criteria, but try making column with filter as hide in one view and column without filter as hide in other view under properties.

  • Doubt in attribute view on joining the table .

    Hello Team
Can some please help me in clearing the following doubts on joining tables .
    i) Can we perform a self join in attribute view in HANA . like for ex :- joining a table to itself .
ii)Can we create an analytic view without creating an attribute view i.e creating an analytic view directly on tables .
iii)When aggregation happens in calculation view exactly what happens internally .
Please suggest me with the solution of these doubts .
    Regards

    Hi Prag,
As Rashmi has answered your question, i would like to add up to it few more important points.
    1. Do not perform self join as it will return uncertain results. It is better to avoid self join.
You can create a copy of the same table and perform join which will be consistent.
    2. In an analytic view, you will be adding table to data foundation, select the output fields. In the logical join node by default your data foundation will be present (this will contain the fields that you selected for output), you need not add any attribute view to this logical join node, leave it to default. In the semantics node select the attributes and measures. Perform validation and then activate. Your analytic view without attribute view is ready. You can check the data preview.
    3. In a calculation view, the records gets grouped by all the attributes and then the measures are calculated based on this grouping by using the mentioned aggregation (sum/max/min).
    Eg.
Customer ID 0Calmonth Amount (aggregation = max)
    1001               01.2014     100
    1001               01.2014     400
    1002               01.2014     200
    Output:
Customer ID 0Calmonth Amount (aggregation = max)
    1001               01.2014     400
    1002               01.2014     200
    Hope this clarifies your doubts.
    Thanks and Regards,

  • Using Attribute views in Script based Calculation views

I am trying to create a view for analysis on a fact table which has measure name as a dimension as opposed to having multiple measures. Here is an example of what the data looks like.
    #Customer, Product, Measure, Data
    Customer1, Product1, ASP, 4.2
    Customer1, Product1, Units, 100
    Customer2, Product2, ASP, 4.4
    Customer2, Product2, Units, 200
... and so on and so forth.
I had build Attribute views with hierarchies for both customer and product dimensions and build analytic views. However now I have the need to flatten the Measures dimension and have the resulting Fact view look like:
    #Customer, Product, ASP, Units
    Customer1, Product1, 4.2, 100
    Customer2, Product2, 4.4, 200
... and so on and so forth.
Now I want to build analytic views on this flattened view of my Fact table.
I was able to create a calculation view using Script mode, on the fact table and write a SQL to flatten the Measure dimension. But I am not able to now join this calculation view with the attribute views. Is there a way to leverage the existing Attribute views and their hierarchies in this case?
The only way I can see for now is to use manual SQL to build out the entire view, including joining the attribute views and re-build the hierarchies in the definition of the calculation view. This essentially wastes work I have already done in the attribute views and forces me to build the entire thing using SQL.
    Is there a better approach?

It's extremely annoying that the FLD() command isn't yet availlable in NW, unless it's coming with 7.5 or has been included in one of the more recent support packs.
As a an alternative you may be able to use the following MDX routine:
Returns the value of a property of the current member of a dimension
    *function PRO(%DIMENSIONNAME%,%PROPERTYNAME%)
    %DIMENSIONNAME%.Properties("%PROPERTYNAME%")
    *endfunction
Unfortunately I've never been able to use this with a When statement, so you may have to ask an ABAP resource to develop a BADI to achieve your required results.

  • Calculate Column Subtotal in  Attribute View

    Hi,
Is it possible to calculate the Column subtotal in Caluclation View itself likethe way we do in ALV.
I want to do this calculation in the Calculation View itself.
I thought of doing that through  Calculated Column but the SQL Function SUM() doesn't work there.
Below is how my Calculation View looks like:
I want the output to be like this (Highlighted in Green):
I am getting the field Allocation from my Attrbute View ZAT_VBRK_VBRP(Join of table VBRK and VBRP) and ZVBAK is just an attribute view for VBRK.
    Thanks,
    Gaurav

    Hi Shankar,
Sub_totals can be achieved through the SQL query using the Grouping_sets which is something like this,
    select col_1, col_2, col_3, sum(col_4)
    from <Table_name>
group by grouping sets LIMIT 2 WITH SUBTOTAL
    ((col_1, col_2),(col_3));
Usually this can be done in the front end reporting tool but,If you want to continue with the calculation_view where you want the sub total to be appended as a "New Tuple" then you will have to go with the CE_Functions using the sql_query.
This is something new that i can learn today, lets see how the experts will guide us with the approach.
    Regards,
    Krishna.

  • How to get the distinct values in Attribute View?

    Hi,
While doing the data preview of attribute view its showing duplicate records.
Can i restrict all these duplicate in attribute view and get only distinct values?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Deepak,
Please check the Key Attribute combination in the Source System and Create Attribute view with the same combination.
so that you won't get any duplicate values.
If you are taking fields randomly Pls ensure that you are taking at least one primary key combination  use the same combination while creating Attribute View.
As u know that the purpose of Attribute view is to store the Master Data Objects like BI/BW which stores Non duplicate values.

  • Unable to view columns for attribute views created

    Hi all,
Here are the list of errors I am facing while creating attribute views and while adding multiple dimensions (Product dim and Employee dim) to an attribute view.
I am unable to activate my attribute view. I don’t get any error message other than:
Message :      STS.STS_ATTRIBUTE_VIEW: one or more columns of Table: DIMSUPPLIER have invalid ABAP name
    2. When I added DIM.Product attribute to the attribute view STS_ATTRIBUTE_VIEW, I am unable to see any column names for the DIM.Product to add them to output fields. Same with employee dimension also. Now my question is, Can I add more than one dimension to the same attribute view or do I have to create a new attribute view for every dimension. While I think I can add more dimensions to the same attribute view but I asked this question because I am unable to see any columns listed out in the dimensins Product and Employee.
    3. In Employee dimension when I click on the data preview, I don’t get any data. Its all blank. But there is data in the table and its visible when I preview in table.
    4. When I right click on the attribute view or the attribute itself I don't see any other options other than "Configure Table" but I remember 2 days back when I worked I was able to see other options like "Data Preview" and few others.
Why am I unable to view the columns of the Product and Employee dimensions? Should there be a common primary key between all the dimensions to be able to view the data in the attribute view?
Please note that my attribute view is still in grey inspite of hitting on save and validate and save and activate several times. And I am getting a warning message, "Some services are not started" on my hdbsystem and the system is showing yellow colour.
    Please advise.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Pavan.

Can you sintetize your question, maybe even split it in minor questions.
