Filtering one list based on a user registered in a related list

Good afternoon,
I have a list with the customer data and one field is the contact person for the customer which is a person field related to a specific group.
Then I have a list that contains the activity performed for different customers whit a lookup field that points to the customer table.
I am trying to create a view on which if the user is a customer he/she can only see the list items for that specific company and if the user is from my company he/she can interact all customers data, is there a way to do that?
In order to do it with the filtered view I need to have the field availabe but when I try to do that by looking at the available fields to display on the view, that specific field does not show.
Thanks
Agustín

Hi,
You can create a view and set the filter for the contact person field and set the value to [Me].  So whenever a contact person logged in, he can see only the customer data where he is the contact person.
Hope this answers your query.
If you want to get the view on other conditions, then you need to create the view with the custom code using JSLink which a new feature in SharePoint 2013.  Using JSLink you can modify the look and feel of the view and even you can apply filters using
JQuery/JavaScript.  The following link shows how to create custom views using JSLink.

  • How can I filter a Sharepoint 2007 libarry list based on current user login?

    Hi all.
    I would like to know how I can filter a SharePoint library list based on current user login.
    Suppose I have created the followings:
    1) A SharePoint form library containing bunch of uploaded InfoPath form data.
    2) The InfoPath form template contains a promoted text field called "TargetUser" to store user domain login (ex: DOMAIN\JOE) and every InfoPath form file in the library has a valid domain name stored in the "TargetUser" field.
    I have created a custom view for the form library and would like to filter this view so only items whose "TargetUser" field matches current user's login ID are displayed.
    I went to Edit View page to customize the view and tried to use the [Me] function but I got a "Filter value is not a valid text string" message instead when clicking OK. Apparently [Me] returns a Person/Group data type and the filter cannot compare its value
    to that of "TargetUser".
    I tried using text functions (ex: TEXT([Me],"") hoping to extract default string value from [Me]. The filter accepts the parameter without any error but the resulting fitlered list does not display any items at all.
    I have googled this subject for hours but I have not found any solution.
    It would be greatly appreciated if anyone can help me to create a functional filtered list.
    FYI, my SharePoint 2007 installation is just WSS 3.0 + Form Server. I do not have MOSS 2007 (so no MOSS 2007 web parts or web services).
    Thank you.
    Jason

    Here's what I usually do in order to accomplish this.  Ultimately you'll need to have 2 different fields.  There's the one you already have, with DOMAIN\username stored in it.  Then you'll need an additional field as a "person" column type.
    Call it "TargetPerson" or something.
    Create a sharepoint designer workflow that runs each time an item is created or changed.  One action:
    Set FIELD to VALUE.
    The first FIELD is "TargetPerson", the VALUE is your "TargetUser" field.
    Once this is done, then the person value is stored in the person field.  This is the field that you can filter by "TargetPerson" is equal to [Me]

  • How to auto populate data from one list in SharePoint 2007 into another list based on a key value?

    Hi,
    As a part of new requirement in my project I am supposd to work on SharePoint 2007. I have one List (BCExtract - Main list) with all data related to an Application (like ID, name, app manager RTO etc).
    I have created another list which has form to be filled by a user (with details about his/her applications). My requirement is that when the user enters AIT ID then the page should refresh (probably after hitting enter) and other details like Application
    name, RTO etc which is present in another list gets auto populated depending on the AIT ID (unique column) entered so reduce the burden on the user.
    Please suggest me how this can be done. I do not have permission for obtaining SharePoint Designer and I do not know JQuery. Infopath is ok but if this can be done through SharePoint 2007 alone then it would be great.
    Thanks....

    Hello,
    You can either use jquery/jaavscript or infopath form to achieve this. There is no default way to do this.
    I would suggest jquery because you can put script in newform/editfor.aspx page using content editor webpart. Refer this link for jquery:
    To get value from list:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ac47fe2a-ccb6-4f5b-b274-703aecc6cb0a/get-list-items-in-sharepoint-2010-by-using-jquery
    http://www.robertkuzma.com/2010/08/read-list-items-using-sharepoint-web-services-and-jquery/
    To set value in column:
    http://paulgalvinsoldblog.wordpress.com/2009/06/13/quick-and-easy-use-jquery-to-set-a-text-field%E2%80%99s-value-on-a-sharepoint-form/
    http://spservices.codeplex.com/discussions/468729
    If you use infopath form, then you need to create two data connection to get data from both lists. Later you can set value in fields based on selection using rule. This can be possible without code.
    Hope it could help

  • Filtering report data based on user login and Parameter fields

    Post Author: mronquillo
    CA Forum: General
    Hi,I am running a report that filters data based on the user login. To do this, I created a formula called @user that compares the login name (using the CurrentCEUserName field) and returns the user's name. If the user login is not a login specified in the if statements, it returns the parameter field "user_name":For example: if CurrentCEUserName = "loginname1" then "User's Name 1"else if CurrentCEUserName = "loginname2" then "User's Name 2" else if CurrentCEUserName = "loginname3" then "User's Name 3"  else if CurrentCEUserName = "loginname4" then "User's Name 4".. .else {?user_name}   In select expert, I have a condition which filters data based on the string returned from that formula:{Table.Name} = {@user}  This works fine and when the users run the report they only their own data. However, they are still prompted to choose a parameter field regardless if of the value returned by the @user formula. Oddly enough, regardless of what parameter field they choose, they will still only see their own data (i.e. if John chooses "Bob" from the parameter list, he will still only see John's data.)If I remove the "else {?user_name}" line from the @user formula, then the users are not prompted anymore. However, if they are not a "valid" user - that is, if any of the if statements in the formula are not true for their login name - then they will see no data. What I want to do is make the report ONLY prompt the user to choose a parameter field if their login name is not "valid". That is, if the @user formula is able to return a string value for their login name, then they will jump right into the report without being prompted to choose a parameter - otherwise, the user will be prompted to choose a name from the parameter list. I thought my formula would allow this (hence the "else" clause), but it seems that if a parameter field is present in any formula, then the report automatically prompts the user to choose a parameter. Is what I am trying to accomplish possible in CR (I'm using CR v10.0) or is there a better way to do what I am trying to do?Thanks in advance.

  • SRM MDM - store multiple pricing for one entry and have it select the price based on a users site

    I've had an interesting request. We have a region where they have one supplier who will support some products for multiple sites. The sites are in different cities and so the pricing varies based on the location of the user. I know how to do price scaling in SRM MDM but wasn't sure if there was a way to have one part that could someone pick the right price based on the user. I don't think this can be done since we don't pass any "user" information in the OCI connection.
    Has anyone run into this scenario and was there some other way to not duplicate the entries or create a separate view just because the pricing was different for the same product but different site? I'm open for suggestions. I'm looking to make long term maintenance of the data as easy as possible.
    We are still running SRM MDM 5.5 SP6
    Thanks,
    Cathy

  • Controlling report output based on current user

    Hi all,
    I am building a small app with APEX for a sales team.
    We have the site and app hosted by another company.
    I have built a report showing sales summary for the company. The problem is that the report is showing all sales for all sales people.
    What I want is for the report to show data based on the user that is logged in, so that the user only sees his items.
    In fact, this would be a useful thing to learn for me, because I could use this functionality on several other pager, so this will be a good example for other situations.
    So far I have:
    I have a database table that keeps track of the sales reps.
    Each sales rep in that table is assigned a unique EMP_id, which is an autonumber column of that table, and is also the primary key.
    The table also contains a column named: "User login Name" which is their login ID (the one they use to log into the application.
    Possible solution (I think):
    when user logs into APEX, retrieve their EMP_id from the EMP table based on their login name,
    Hold the EMP_id in a variable for the duration of the session,
    pass the variable to the SQL query for the report in the where clause.
    Is this a good solution? or is there a better way to do this?
    Can anyone advise on how to get this done please,
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    Sorry - I guess I should have said where to create the function!
    You can keep those steps or keep with your own method as both should return the value you need. I usually store the result of that value in G_USER - similar to Tyson's method - when the user logs in and then use :G_USER wherever I want to use it in filters etc. However, if I need to create SQL Views, I have to use the GETCURRENTUSERID() function instead.
    Andy
    ps - I used MIN() in the function to ensure that I only get one value returned. The method SELECT .... INTO .... only allows us to set a variable to one value and, sometimes, more than one value is returned by the SELECT statement and this would generate an error. Of course, there should be just the one value that matches the current user, but I always assume the worst! The statementS:
    SELECT MIN(EMP_ID) into user_id FROM S_USERS WHERE UPPER(LOGIN_ID) = UPPER(v('APP_USER'));
    user_id := CASE WHEN user_id IS NULL THEN 9999999999 ELSE user_id END;could also be written as:
    SELECT EMP_ID into user_id FROM S_USERS WHERE UPPER(LOGIN_ID) = UPPER(v('APP_USER')) AND ROWNUM = 1;
    user_id := CASE WHEN user_id IS NULL THEN 9999999999 ELSE user_id END;or
    SELECT NVL(MIN(EMP_ID), 9999999999) into user_id FROM S_USERS WHERE UPPER(LOGIN_ID) = UPPER(v('APP_USER'));

  • Data view web part to display the most frequently accessed pages based on the user that is logged in

    I am working on a project in which I would like to display the top 5 most accessed pieces of content as links, based on the user that is logged in. Our MOSS 2007 implementation has subsites for all regions that we do business in, as an example North, South, East, and West. When a user visits the North region homepage, I would like a web part to display:
    Hello, <username>, here is a listing of your most accessed content:
    Link to One
    Link to Two
    Link to Three
    Link to Four
    Link to Five
    So each user would get a customized list based on their content access. We are not using my sites, but these would not work as we want the list to display on the home page of the region site.
    I am thinking that a data view may work here, but I am not sure. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    If you are running MOSS you may want to take a look at the Relevant Documents web part too.

    The Relevant Documents Web Part helps you create a personalized view of the documents that you create, check out, and change. In a large Document Center, the Web Part can save you time and effort by making files easier to find and use. The following figure shows the Web Part:

  • Creating cascading drop down boxes in SharePoint 2010 using one list

    We have a support request form tied to a list that end users input data into which when submitted sends out an email.
    Is it possible to create a drop down box on the form that limits the choices in the "subcategory" column, based on what is chosen in the "category" column.
    For instance in the category column we have SharePoint, Oracle, and Web Tools as choices.
    In the subcategory column we have items related to each category. We only want items that are related to the selected choice to appear in the subcategory drop down box.
    I see examples in InfoPath using "Multiple Lists" (one list for city, one for state, etc), but nothing using the same list.  I would rather not use multiple lists if possible.
    Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks.

    Hi,
    According to your post, you want to create a cascading drop-down list box using one list.
    To achieve what you want, we can:
    Create two fields(category and subcategory) in drop-down list box type in the form in InfoPath.
    Add the list which contains the values of the category and subcategory columns to the form as an external data.
    Right click the category field, click Drop-Down List Box Properties, and choose Get choices from an external data source.
    Choose the list added in step2 in Data source, click XPath behind Entries, click the category column in the list, select Show only entries with unique display names.
    Right click the subcategory field, click Drop-Down List Box Properties, and choose Get choices from an external data source.
    Choose the list added in step2 in Data source, click XPath behind Entries, click the subcategory column in the list, then click Filter Data.
    Click Add, select the category column in the list in the first box, select is equal to in the second box, choose select  a field or group in the third box, then choose Main in the Fields and select the category field in the form.
    Click OK.
    Best regards.

  • Use of filters and aggregations based on hierarchy nodes in an update rule

    Hello,
    I need to calculate some indicators from a ODS (BW 3.5) that contain raw data to another one that will contain indicators. These figures are the results of the use of filters and aggregations based on hierarchy nodes (for example: all sales accounts under a node).

    Could you provide me with easy-to-understand-for-newbies examples of:

    - filtering and aggregation of data based on the appartenance to hierarchy nodes (all sales figures, ....)

  • How to populate LOV of one prompt based on other prompts w/o cascade

    Hello All,
    Scenario- There are three prompts in my report.
    Source_Prompt1, Source_Prompt2 and Target_Prompt.
    There is no direct reletion between Source_Prompt1 and Source_Prompt2.
    And user wants Target_Prompt data on selection of these source_prompts.
    Is there any way to populate target prompt on selection of source prompt.
    Note- This can be implemented by applying cascading between all three prompts fields.
    However user dosent want Cascading between source prompts.?
    is there any other method except cascading prompt to populate LOV of one prompt based on selection of other prompt values?
    Your insights are most welcome.
    Amit

    I believe the only way to populate LOVs is directly from a database. E.g.; you can not populate it "manually". In your case, you may have to create your own prompt forms and use those.

  • Hide all except one object in Active Directory Users and Computers.

    Hello,
    I have a question.. I need to allow to one group of "administrators" creating users in one OU and adding computers to the domain, nothing else. I allowed them to log on DC using the GPO "Allow log on locally", because I don't want to give
    them administrator rights, I allowed them to do these operations on one OU through delegation wizard and now I need to make all OUs, groups etc. invisible to them except this OU. What is the best way how to achieve this? Thank you...
    d.

    I would disable the ability to allow them to login. I suggest to create a Computers OU that you can delegate to the "admins" to add computers, and don't use the default Computers container.
    I assume the admins are using Windows 7 or newer. You can customize an RSAT installation to just provide the ADAC.

    Or if you want to chop it down and control it further, create a custom ADUC with just that OU you've delegated. I've done this in the past and worked fine for my customer:
    Delegate an Organizational Unit (OU) in Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC), then create a custom MMC or customized RSAT

    HI,
    Presently we are using standard portal theme.How can I change the image in the masterhead based on the user logged in.How can i change that and i want to assign that masteredhead to users.
    Can anybody give me suggesion about this.

    Dear Srinivas,
    Simple of achiving this kind of scnario is create separate themes for different users and assign the themes to the users in master rule collection through Desktop Page.Here in this case you will be creating one framework page and multiple Desktops and themes.All the desktops will be having the same framework page and different themes based on the user type or group type.
    Otherway of achiving this is create an pdk application where it will have multiple jsp components in it and based on the each component create one PAR iview.Let us take if four groups of users then you will be creating four different jsps in pdk application which will inturn contains different masterhead images and related logos.After creating the iview place the iview in the correcsponding framework page below the masterhead iview.Here multiple framework pages and Desktops and you can go with single theme.
    In the first scenario the masteread , we are managing through the theme and in second the masterhead we are managing throgh application.
    Either of the scenarios can be used to create differet masterheads for different users.

  • Javascript help to copy selected items from one list to another list on same site

    Hello,
    So I have a request that I am not sure how to handle. I have created a page with a list view webpart that displays all the items from one list.
    The user is then supposed to select off multiple list items and click on a button (most likely a ribbon button) that will take the selected items and copy them to another list on the same SharePoint site.
    I would like to do this with JavaScript, but have only found an example that copies library items to another library.

    Hi KansaiKel,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to copy selected list items to another list.
    I suggest you can use JavaScript Client Object Model to achieve it.
    Here is a code snippet for your reference:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var context = SP.ClientContext.get_current();
    var siteUrl = 'http://sp2013sps/sites/test';
    var clientContext = new SP.ClientContext(siteUrl);
    var web = context.get_web();
    context.load(web);
    var sourceId = SP.ListOperation.Selection.getSelectedList();
    var source = web.get_lists().getById(sourceId);
    var oList = context.get_web().get_lists().getByTitle('Copy');
    context.load(oList);
    var selectedItems = SP.ListOperation.Selection.getSelectedItems(context);
    alert('debut');
    for(var i in selectedItems)
    var currentItem = source.getItemById(selectedItems[i].id);
    context.load(currentItem);
    context.executeQueryAsync(Function.createDelegate(this,test),Function.createDelegate(this,error));
    function test(sender, args){
    var itemCreateInfo = new SP.ListItemCreationInformation();
    var oListItem = oList.addItem(itemCreateInfo);
    oListItem.set_item('Title', currentItem.get_item('Title'));
    oListItem.update();
    oList.update();
    alert('done');
    function error(sender, args){ alert('error');}""
    </script>
