Find CPU idle time

Can anybody help me out in finding the cpu time or cpu usage percentage for a particular process in windows xp environment.
Any suggestion should be of a great help.
Thanks
Muthu

Can this found using java??Nope.
This is an OS specific question (Windows XP in your case).
Java cannot be useful in this area.
As already mentioned maybe the best way is to search at msdn.microsoft.com and google groups with appropriate keywords.
My experience with your specific issue is to use the WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) Performance Counter Win32 Classes components which are a set of COM objects (available on NT/2K/XP/2K3/Vista) that allows to do all sort of administrative tasks with the OS.
One of these classes ([url http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/wmisdk/wmi/win32_perfrawdata_perfproc_process.asp?frame=true]Win32_PerfRawData_PerfProc_Process class) is a performance counters that monitor running application program and system processes.
You should have a look at this post to know how to use this class:
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.win32.programmer.wmi/msg/ac8691a2f885f29e
By the way the microsoft.public.win32.programmer.wmi group is a good start to read/ask questions about WMI related issues.
To integrate your WMI solution with Java you have at least two solutions:
1- ( This is the simple solution. ) Create your vbs script (see the post above) then use Runtime.exec() to execute it and retrieve the appropriate information.
2- Use [url http://sourceforge.net/projects/jacob-project/]JACOB or any other Java COM bridge to instanciate and use
the COM object to retrieve the appropriate information.

  • Cpu idle time is 2%

when i saw the st06  at the time of peak hours in the business the cpu idle time is below 30%

    Hi ,
you need to check the process which are running on SAP system.
1-You get this info by ST06-> TOP CPU
2-or from OS level via windows->task manager and see the process which are using high CPU execution time
In case of the process which are not from SAP, then you have to contact your OS network team, eg If you see any antivirus process consuming a lot of time.
Pls Fete points if useful .

  • Finding out idle time

How can i find out the idle time in java?
I want to fire an even if the idle time is 1 minute
    Thanks

Topic: IDLE Time for Java Application not SYSTEM Idle Hi I am Krishna , I want to calculate idle time for an application. That is , if user1 uses the application for example called "yahoo site" for checking mails , then after 10 mins he went to outside , from 11th min the status of application should show (Like Yahoo messenger after certail time it shows idle time ) in another ADMINJSP page for Admins that how much this user1 idle say.. : 1 min idle 2 min idle .... .... 10 min idle Now user1 comes and now clicks on application . then ADMINJSP page should show total IDLE time (10 mins idle). And he again after 15 mins he went some where from 16th min the status of the application should show in ADMINJSP page.If user1 left the application like that then the application should be idle for 1 hour i.e 1 min idle 2 min idle ... ... 59 mins idle 60 mins idle Time Up -- Session Expired then he has to login again. So the above is the issue --------------------------------------------------------------------------- What i have done ..................issssssssssssss ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have taken time for last request by using getLastAccessedTime() I have taken present time System.currentTimeMills() Taking the difference we will get the idle time . But the problem here is When user1 click on any page only this calcuting will be done and showing to ADMINJSP because getLastAccessedTime works only when any requests comes , but we dont want like that , we want the application without any requests from user1 the application should show idle for 1 min , 2 mins , 3 mins...so on upto user1 uses the application then the time should be normal. I have also tried all the EVENTS classes in HttpSessionBinding like valueunbound()...or sessiondestroy() etc. Can any one please help me by giving any CODE.If you need more information plz ask me Plz plz plz plz this is very urgent plz can any please send me the CODE , ihave tried this very hard but no idea how to do? long startTime = session.getLastAccessedTime(); long stopTime = System.currentTimeMillis(); long diffTimeInSecs = (stopTime - startTime) / 1000 ; gives idle time for every request Regards Krishna

  • CPU idle showing 0%

    Hi all,
We are maintaining 10.1.0.4.0 database in Linux Server,4 processor CPU. Always I am getting CPU idle time near to 0%. In some times when the developers trying to connect to DB they are getting the error "Unable to allocate 27338m shared memory" and unable to connect to DB. Even if they connect to DB, they are getting slow response.
Please let me know what could be the problem, and how can i resolve this. From last 3 days developers are pinning me.

  • Finder CPU and RAM high, unresponsive, icon fail to load

    Hey guys,
I am trying to figure out a solution here, also, if this is my computer specifically causing this.
    I have a mid 2012 MBP, I7 2.9ghz, 750gb HDD, 8gb ram, Mavericks.
I have about 1 million files on my hard drive, and it seems my computer has issues with this. When I open finder and "All my files" loads up, my finder CPU percent shoots up to 200 to even 360%. The ram usage for finder shoots up a few GB's and even closing finder, it keeps that usage. It does not make sense to me the memory usage stays used because if I go from All my files to Documents, then back to All my files, it takes awhile to reload those files. Not sure what is being stored in RAM if it is reloading every time and uses more and more ram.
Anyways, This gives me huge unreponsiveness. One consequence is if I write click a file and choose open with, the icons sometimes do not load. If I click elsewhere and choose open with again, the icons are loaded. If I go to Applications, I can painfully see all the icons slowly load.
I have tried everything I have been able to. All the resets, deleting caches and plist. Reinstalling OSX. Going as far as reformatting. I have to do a fresh format because if I reload my backup files the number of files jumps up. Over time, the number of files I have reach my normal amounts and I get these performance issues. I have been on the phone with apple in total of over 30 hours. I have reinstalled OSX more than 7 times, formatted more than 3 times, been to a genius bar about 7 times.
Apple first thought it was due to programs, but through testing (creating files on a fresh install) showed my performance issues were not related to a third party app. This made them replace my hard drive, but I get the same issues with the new hard drive.
I found a compounded issue with time machine, if I had local backups on it essentially doubled the amount of files I had on my drive and made things worse. I turned local backups off via command line. This helped a lot, but still not fully there.
I can turn spotlight off on some of the bigger folders with files, but when I get down to if I would have to turn spotlight off completely for my whole computer to hit every file. This means I cannot search for things on my computer which is a no no.
Why do I have that many files? Well, that is not THAT many. But it adds up quick. I do some development work on websites, I do coding for apps. This all adds up files quickly. School work, movies, music, documents, saved web sites, applications, frameworks, it all adds up.
Once funny thing is, if I run Parrallels with windows 8, my performance is usually better within windows 8 than it is in OSX.
Any suggestions, recommendations? Turning off spotlight is a partial solution but not a viable one. The engineers at apple recommended turning off backups and spotlight on the folders with lots of files, but this means essentially not using a backup or spotlight at all. I cannot turn backups off of my app work, that would be crazily stupid to do. I also don't want to turn spotlight off of everything as that would make finding files that I forget where they are hard to find.
Last thing, my computer runs decently well. Once it starts and is ready it is pretty much good to go. Once I do something file related though, such as open finder, even once it is closed my performance drops until I shut down the computer. Even if activity monitor shows I am 95% idle, I get the spinning beach ball and slowness.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • What is causing low physical disk % idle time

Recently I observed that all my four hard disks installed in my XP Pro machine show a % idle time physical disk counter between 50-60% all the time, even when the PC is fully idle. I checked the processes running in the background and I can't find nothing
    causing this constant disk activity.
When I run XP in safe mode the counter is normal (average 99,60%). I also observed that in normal mode, when I connect a USB stick, the counter is normal (99,5%). After disconnecting the stick drops again to 50-60%.
How can I find what is causing this disk activity?

If you are getting your information from the Windows Task Manager, that is not disk activity shown.  That is CPU activity.
So, where are you getting your information?
Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread. ”
Dear Rick Dee, do you have any idea about my issue about % idle time (physical disk counter on perfmon)?

  • Cpu idle percentage

Can someone help me out in finding the System's Idle Process time or System's Idle Process's memory usage for windows.
(Which we can see in Task Manager)
Even after installing service pack 2 there in no 'pstat' installed. Any Idea??
I dont think any ready methods available and i am also new to JNI programmining.
    Kindly help me out,
    Thanks,
    Muthu

Is there any other way to do.
I found that pstat was like tasklist which provides the list of processes running.
I need a method to find the cpu usage of the processes.
I could find the RAM sapace each process is occcupying but not the CPU usage time. Any idea..?

  • CPU Idle Percentage Near 90 -- Beachball City.

    {Sigh}
    Slow, slow, slow.
Approximately one month ago I upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard. My iMac has been sluggish to slow since. The context/problems/actions
There are three accounts on the computer. A root, a system administrator, and a guest account. The problems are much more pronounced in the System Administrator account than in the Guest account. (In hopes of resolving a Snow Leopard install Filevault issue I deleted a System Administrator account and shortly thereafter recreated it, using its original name.)
Put short, the beachball is a frequent visitor whether using Safari, Text Edit, Finder et al. Additionally, logging out of an account takes much more time than it once did: approximately three minutes to log out.
As to Safari -- slow to launch, slow to load pages. Two-five minutes to visit one page.
    What I have tried
    1) Checked Activity Monitor --- Percentage CPU of Safari and others is often at less than one percent. The CPU idle percentage is often in 90% range.
    2) Compared the DNS of the guest account and sys adm account --- Identical.
    3) Uninstalled Flash Player.
    4) Checked Disk Utility --- Verified disk. Errors found. Then through Snow Leopard Install Disk, repaired the Disk. Rechecked. No errors found.
    Additional info if helpful --
    1) The HD is size is 150 GB, only 30 GB in use.
    2) Two GB of Ram; one GB is listed as Free.
Day to day tasks are almost impossible in the sys adm account. Please help.
    Yours,
    Lxloco

Thank you Lyssa, Pondini, and The hatter for taking an interest.
I took some time away from rooting against the Steelers to do some of the homework mentioned above.
    1) File Vault file -- Isn't on this HD; hasn't been on this HD for a couple of weeks. Rather, the file (the sparse bundle) was saved on an external and then deleted from this iMac's HD
    2) Smart Utility HD Check -- Results: "Failing;" what's more: "Pending Bad Sectors: 1." Continuing on, "Completed: read failure;" "Remaining 90%;" and "LBA of First Error: 101643935."
    3) System Log --- "Insert-Hang-Detected." This untrained eye takes immediate note of that message. It is most frequently associated with Safari, Safari Webpage Preview Fetcher, and Mail. An occasional "Query-Hang-Detected" is also spotted.
    4) System Preferences - Login Items --- Only one item reported: A Lexmark Printer that was removed several years ago.
Trying to help myself, elsewhere I read something about a "Performance Update 1.0" from October 2009 and how it could have ameliorated "Insert-Hang-Detected" problems. Yet, when I review the webpage for that Update I fail to see my iMac's model number listed.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3901
Lastly, I will attempt to copy and paste excerpts of the system log. I hope this works and offers insights.

Oddly enough, things are working better today. Perhaps my computer is a Packers fan?
Thanks again for care and insights.

  • Safari quits automatically after certain amount of idle time.

I am having a problem with my Safari quiting after a certain amount of system idle time. It could be as little as 5 minutes. I honestly don't know as I really haven't tried to figure out the exact time. Though I've been away as little as 15 minutes to come back and find that Safari as quit.
I do close the last window of Safari, but I've been doing that for years. I've only noticed that it's quitting by the fact that the little "light" at the bottom of the icon is missing. And that it bounces 1 or 2 times when I click on it. As well as the fact that I am not getting notifications, like eBay.
I have to admit that I was playing around with an Apple Script to have it quit Safari automatically after some system idle time. However, I can no longer find that Apple Script or the app. Heck, I can't even remember the name. However, I couldn't get the script correct as it never worked. I was doing this because my mother would leave a lot of windows/tabs open on her Mac and would use 50% plus of the CPU at times, even at "idle". I was doing this in Mt Lion, but once Mavericks came out. Her CPU usage has dropped down to less than 5%
So my questions are... How can I find this Apple Script that I created nearly a year ago? Why all of sudden does it start to work, which is with in the last several days to a week? Could it be something else that's making it quit?
The only thing that was a "huge" change was the addition of Garmin Express app to update my mother's GPS. (Wish that I did it on her Mac) However, this was installed last night.
Oh, there was another thing. I've tried to use this Mac as a target boot disc to a pre-2008 MBP 17', non-unibody. And I also tried to use that same MBP as a target disc on this Mac. Used a firewire 800. This was done about a week ago.
    Thank you,
    KOT

More important information: This only happens under an account that has the Parental Controls enabled. The main Admin account does not have this problem of Safari quitting out.

You put the class in a package, that means you have to not only have the folder that contains the root of the package in the classpath, but you have to run the class with the fully qualified classname, which includes the package.
Example: you store your application in c:\projects, so you have c:\projects\org\hyperic\sigar\cmd\CpuInfo.class
Go to c:\projects and then type:
java -cp . org.hyperic.sigar.cmd.CpuInfoThe "-cp ." part adds the c:\projects directory to the classpath so that java can find your package.

  • RCA Connection Pool idle Time-Out takes no effect !

    My question description goes here.
According to JCA specification, I developed my 'ManagedConnectionImpl' class from the interface 'ManagedConnection'. I realize the 'destroy()' function to send out logout request to the EIS.
Then I deployed the connector in Sun Java System Application Server, I noticed there are two parameters in Connection Pool part, they are:
    1. Idle Timeout. It said it's the maximum time that a connection can remain idle in the pool. I assume the connection will be removed after the specific time expired and before it's removed it will call the recallable function, 'destroy()', in my concrete class, 'ManagedConnectionImpl'.
    2. Pool Resize Quantity. it said it's number of connections to be removed when pool idle time expired.
I am weird about it. I think EIS had itself session control strategy, if the specific session time-out expired, it will invalidate this session. So I think we will set 'Idle Timeout' in application server to be shorter than the EIS session time-out. If the 'Idle Timeout' in application server expired, it should remove all connections inside otherwise maybe the connection with invalid session will exist! (the background knowledge is our system will return back soap fault when it meets invalid session, so the invalid connections will not be removed by switching on your configuration item, 'On Any Failure')
So I set "inital and minimum pool size" to 8, "maximum pool size" to 32 and "Pool Resize Quantity" to 32. (I expect AS to remove all when pool idle time expired)
After deploying, I send out requests at the first round and wait for the time expired but I can't see the desired logout requests from pool automatically even one. Firstly I guess if my recallable function definition is wrong but when I shut down the Application Server, the desired logout requests are sent out from pool automatically. So I think my recallable function definition is workable.
    What's your comments on it?
    P.S.
I am using Sun Java System Application Server 8.1.
    Thanks in advance!
    BRs
    /Leo

Whether it's related with the initial and minimum number parameter? Although I found it will not be created during AS start-up and will be created at the first request.
Whether it shall be kept to meet the minimum requirement? I have failed to set it to 0.

  • How to track clients idle time and force to Login View

How can I force clients to the Login View after a period of idle time ( 1 hour). My mobile application consist of many views and need  the time out to work from any view. Your assistance is appreciated.Using Flash Builder 4.5 and AS 3.0.
I was able to make it work using FlexEvent.Idle to determine the inactivity. But it only works when I am on the second view, if I go deeper (third view) it fails. Here is the code I am using and the error I get

    Hi Nadeem,
You can find the max session idle time in table APEX_040000.WWV_FLOWS, attribute MAX_SESSION_IDLE_SEC .

  • Buddy idle times

on my old macbook pro(running osX) I can see buddy idle times in ichat/jabber. My new macbook pro is running Snow Leopard and I can no longer see idle times. Am I missing a setting?

    Hi,
There is no setting to specifically view the Idle times.
If you are logged in twice to one Jabber server you may find the one that was logged in last gets the updates where as the other does not.
Jabber servers and specifically Jabber app can be set to have different Priorities.
This way you can set up your home computer with a lower Priority than a work one and both lower than say  Phone.
This way when you turn on the Work computer it would get any messages rather than having to turn the Home one Off.
I certainly know that iChat (which has no Priority change setting) is se to the same Priority and logging in to the Google Mail Web Page and it's chat Option.
I would expect other Jabber Log-ins to be similar.
