Find my iPhone connection message issue

I was attempting to use "find my iPhone" app to locate my daughter's iPod Touch this morning and got the following error message when checking it from both my laptop and my iphone:
"Actions will take effect when this iPod connects to the internet."
I finally found the iPod Touch on my own (it somehow snuck under a couch cushion again!) and was curious why this message came up. I checked the Touch, it was on, had almost full power adn was connected to my home's WIFI.
As an aside, I have my wife, my and my other two kid's phones all under my Apple ID as well and all of those phones were located just fine.
My own iPad had the same message as the touch....
I did a pretty exhaustive search of the internet and tried a few things.
I have:
Turned off the Touch, waited and turned it back on.
Delected the find my iPhone app from the Touch and downloaded it again.
Made sure iCloud was logged in on the Touch--it was.
Made sure Find my iPod was "on"...it was.
Logged out and back into my iCloud on my laptop.
Tried to simply send the "Play a Sound" to the Touch--got the message, "Pending: Play Sound"
Made sure I could go out on the internet using Safari
Turned Safari On in iCloud from the Touch.
Made sure I was connected to my home WIFI from the Touch
Connected the iTouch back to my laptop again and automatically connected to my iTunes account, making sure the Touch was up to date.
While in iTunes, made some more room on the iTouch by deleting some music and downloading all the photos...just for the heck of it really.
At this point, I ran out of ideas that I could find online.
I don't get it....my phones are all working just fine with "Find my iPhone" and it seems everything is working and connected.
Any suggestions would be appeciated. Thanks!

You said :

What do you mean by the second statement? I do not understnd what iCloud has to do with Safari.
Can you surf the web with Safari on the iPod?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

i lost my iphone. I already activate a lost mode on find my iphone. But find my iphone's message cannot be reached who stole my phone because my iphone has passcode. how to find my iphone? Please advise me about the best solution

Even though the phone has a passcode, the message sent when you activated lost mode would still be displayed. It is displayed on the lock screen. Following is a link to more details about Lost Mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2700

  • Find my iPhone suggestion and issue with find my mac.

i dont know if this has ever been brought up but this is a very serious and good point. Find my iphone which is under icloud can be toggled on and off as easy as a tap. So what if i lost my phone and didn't have passcode lock on. if someone wanted to steal it they could go to icloud and turn off find my iphone then ill never find it again. Doesn't anyone else think to turn it on/off it should be password or pin protected. I mean if i have to turn off passcode lock with a pin it should be the same for my find my iphone and the same with my computer.
which leads me to my issue with my mac. Every time i go into my settings i find that find my mac is some how unchecked even after i already checked it. does anyone else have this issue? whats the point of the feature if it doesn't even stay on?

Even if it was, nothing would prevent the thief from forcing the phone into recovery mode and restoring it as a new device, which erases that phone and all settings, including iCloud and Find My iPhone.
Don't know why your Mac keeps unchecking this setting though...

  • Mac Locked through the Find my iPhone app having issues with unlock

I was testing out the Find my iPhone app and locked my 2013 MacBook Air running OSX Yosemite thinking that it would just lock the computer and show a pretty message or something. Unfortunately that's not quite what happened.
When I turn on the MacBook and hold down the option key it asks for the 4-digit pin I made when I locked it. (I know what the pin is). If I don't hold down the option key then it just skips to the message in the 3rd image.
Once the pin is entered it asks to select which partition to boot up. I select Macintosh HD. (My Windows 7 partition seems to be working fine.)
Then the Apple logo appears with a gray background (something I would expect from Mavericks) and this message pops up momentarily before the MacBook shuts down. It doesn't show up long enough for me to select any of the options.
Has as anyone else had this problem and is there a solution available?

the lock screen you are seeing is not the Find my phone remote lock screen but the firmware password screen. Preventing unauthorised access to Start up options. Restart normally and see what happens.
If you get the same message, boot with the options key again and choose Recovery 10.9. Once booted open Disk Utility and Repair Permissions and Disk.
    Restart.
Failing this you could be looking at booting again and reinstalling OS X either from a Time Machine backup or a fresh install.

  • "can't load find my iphone" error message in icloud

When I open icloud and try the "find my iphone" feature, I get this message: can't load find my iphone. This used to work 2 weeks ago but no anymore. Can anyone help?

Update:  Installed Firefox browser per someone's suggestion.  "Find my iPhone" app loaded normally from iCloud and found the phone within 5 seconds.  Problem with Internet Explorer 9 still persists.  Guess this is as good a work around as any.

  • Does Find My Iphone Connect To Random Wifi Networks In Attempts To Locate Ones Apple Product ?

I am and though i have my music backed up was wondering how efficent is this service ? Does It Connect To All Every Or Any Wifi Networks In Range To Help Find Product ?

The device must be connected to a wifi network (unless it's an iPhone, which can also connect using cellular data) in order to be located with Find My iPhone.  This means that it must be ibe a known wifi network (one that it has connected to before) in order to be located, not a random one.

  • Forgot passcode -find my iphone enabled -message disable find my iphone. I cannot do this as my phone is disabled.I logged onto icloud and removed the phone (can be done only when its offline

I have completely forgotten my passcode and have find my iphone enabled. When I try to restore I get the message disable find my iphone. I cannot do this as my phone is disabled.I logged onto icloud and removed the phone (can be done only when its offline) but the phone keeps appearing.

    Do this:
Plug in your iPhone into your computer.
Hold the power button and home button for 10 seconds the both with each other.
Then release the power button but keep holding the home button for another 15 seconds.
This'll put it onto DFU mode so that you can restore it. Good luck!

  • 8350i direct connect messages issue

Hi I was wondering if there was a solution for the messages popping up in the messages folder when someone direct connects me?  Yes I have turned off the forward to none and really could not make heads or tails of the one post there is on this issue.  I am assuming that us 8350 owners have to wait for a software upgrade.  Is this correct or has this issue been solved in another way.
    Thanks

    I have the 8350i and a Mac.
I have my info on iCal and Address Book.
When I sync, everything is ok, except 2 problems.
The Direct Connect ID's and the BB PIN's do not sync.
In the Mac's Address Book, I have them under:
    DCID  =  'Home 2'
    BB PIN =   'Home Fax'
I have them labeled like that because that's how Entourage/Address Book syncs them.
    For example,
When I create a new contact on my BB that has email, phone, address, direct connect#, PIN, company...  and then I sync with my mac... I will see in the Mac's Address Book the new contact with the email, phone, address, company... but no direct connect# and no PIN.
In short, there is no field that corresponds to Direct Connect# and PIN#  when trying to sync with BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac and a BlackBerry Curve 8350i.  Is this true?

  • HT5927 Using apple configurator with supervised devises, enabling iCloud/ find my iOS device (after being supervised), backing up that supervised / find my iPhone enabled image, --issue; unable to apply back up to any iOS device (including the orign. devi

    Senario:
Need to manage 500 Enterprise iPads
    Requirements;
    1) Trackable via Find my iOS device  (we have 500 iPads and with the 100 device limit per iCloud account for Find my iOS device limit we have 5+ iCloud accounts).
    2) Individually named iPads for locating and sending commands to wipe, lost mode, etc.. on map per Find my iOS device (we uniquely name them in Apple Configurator either by using the "sequensetially numbering feature", or by creating individual back ups (yes, 450) with the name specified in the image).
    3) Find my iOS device feature enabled in base Prepared or Supervised image (using one of our 5+ iCloud accounts) (image can be created during prepared stage, or in supervised stage) - tried both and have the same issue - which I am getting to...
    4) VPP codes for paid apps (all VPP codes purchased with generic account which is the Apple Admin account for VPP purchases). Apple Configurator is set up under a different/ unique Apple account (i.e. not VPP admin account) and not logged into iTunes for any purchases/ services).
    Issue: Can not do any following senarios;
    A)
         1) configure master iOS 7 iPad with iCloud account with Find my iOS feature enabled in Prepare stage (added during preparing stage)
         2) configure master iOS 7 iPad with iCloud account with Find my iOS feature enabled in Supervised stage (added after supervising, and then backing up that supervised and iOS Find my iOS device enabled)
    B) 1) Apply master image to any Supervised iPad (under senario step A) or senario step B)), including the (Supervised or/ Prepared iPad that was used to create the maset iOS 7 image
Result = fail with Apple generic code "4" ; This is obviously due to Find my iOS device feature enabled during image capture.
According to Apple (see Apple Config. Help) the 'Activation lock' (new feature in iOS 7) will not be enabled on a supervised device when an iCloud account with "Find my iDevice" is enabled. Their "help files" seem to imply after the device is Supervised, and a person (presumably and end user) adds thier own iCloud account with Find my iOS device enabled the activation lock is not enabled and erasing/ reconfiguring with Apple Configurator will not cause reimaging probhlems such as requiring the end user's credentials to reconfigure the device using Apple Configurator (i.e. you won't need the end user's credentials).
Needed: To be able to configure Supervised iPads with iCloud account (Enterprised owned iCloud account) configured on the basse image, which has Find my iOS device enabled, and to be able to apply that base image to all Enterprise iPads without generic apple error code 4 issue.

    Hi all
I am trying to replicate these steps in my environment but I am having trouble getting an iCloud backup restored to a supervised device. Can someone clarify the steps? The parts I am unsure on are:
    1) Do you Prepare in Configurator with all the institution owned apps? Or do you install them after restoring the iCloud backup?
    2) After entering the personal AppleID to restore the iCloud backup, the setup wizard prompts for the Institution/Configurator AppleID, there is an option to 'Skip Now'. Do you enter in the password for the institution account? or do you skip that step?
    3) What exactly is on the screen in the 'mini setup assistant' after the restore when you Refresh with Configurator?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • IPhone 6 messaging issue

I let my iphone 6 die last night and put it on the charger to let it charge overnight (like I have done plenty of times before). When I woke up, I couldn't see any pictures in my messages. All the pictures in my messages say "JPEG IMAGE".

It started with trying to send a text to one person, and the message going to someone else. Not, no messages can go to one person at all and all are sent to another person. It also says there are 282 unread messages. How do I solve, or how do I do a factory restore without reinstalling messages?

  • TS4006 Can I turn my phone to online without my phone? I can't seem to locate it with the find my iphone app because it's telling me it's offline.

I'm using "find my iphone" to try and locate my phone . I'm getting the message that my phone is offline . Is there a way to get it back online threw my computer?

If your phone is lost and is shown as being offline, there isn't anything you can do to force it to go online.  If it appears in the device list in Find My iPhone, you could issue a "Lost Mode" command to lock it.  This would only be executed when it goes back online again, if ever.  See http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f0165.

  • HT4859 how to find my iphone if it is offline

Hi! I lost my iphone Friday night and have been unable to 'find my iphone' because it is offline. I clicked on lost and track phone and put in an alternative number for whomever has it to call, but it's still offline.
I can't figure out on itunes or icloud how to see when my last back-up was.
If you have any information about how to turn the phone online or help with what I can do towards my situation PLEASE contact me.

It can't be tracked if it's offline, and you can't force it online remotely.  If it shows on the device list in Find My iPhone, you can issue a lost mode command (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfc0f0165), which will be executed if it ever does go online.  If it does, you will be informed via email.

  • How to install the Find my Iphone app

I have an IPhone 5c that needs a Find My Iphone connection to my HP Pavillion Notebook dmd.116Ous. I am not getting instructions that I understand. Please advise.

The fins my iPhone app has nothing to do with finding the iPhone on which you install it.  It allows you to find your other advices from that iPhone.
In order to be able to track your iPhone you simply need to turn on the find my iPhone feature in settings.  You need no app at all.  There is nothing to install.
