Find query from workbook

I want to change a sheet in workbook (i.e I want to insert selections for only one sheet) but when I goto that sheet and then goto change query global def it shows "please select the query".Please tell me how to find out from where the data is coming on that sheet and how to change that.

Seacrch in metadata repository with your workbook name.You will find Query used.
and Query sheet is hidden in your workbook?
format>sheet>unhide>select Query.Then place the cursor on Query output>change Query global definition.

I saw a workaround in earlier thread: delete data provider in design mode. But if I do so I lose my data.

Thanks for your response. I'm aware of this functionality, but this is not what the endusers like.
They like to store the output (query result) as a 'flat' excelfile without any relation to the query.
This saves a lot of diskspace. With the query attached the file is 10 Mb and without 'query attached it's 1 Mb.
So I just need the output.

Remove a query from a workbook

Hello,
I'm trying to remove a query from a workbook like I did many times in the past. In some of the workbooks this option works and in some it doesnt. when i use "mark queries in the workbook" it marks the query that i want to remove so i'm sure the query is fine.
Did someone had this problem in the past?

We were on SP 12 and had this issue (we also had the issue of selecting Properties in the Analyzer of the query and nothing happens), our basis guys have installed SP13 and so far I've had no reoccurrence of it.

1 use FM
RSAQ_DECODE_REPORT_NAME
2. This is one of the best and easiest way.
3. It will provide u the following info.
   WORKSPACE
   USERGROUP
   QUERY
   CLIENT
4. Thru TCode U must know the program name first.
   This can be discovered using SE93.

How to make RRI from query into Workbook???

Hi Alex,
A workbook is a set format of queries, so when you try to jump to another query , you will definitely open another session and hence another excel file. This is the same for web templates also though you have an option of opening the new result in the same window.
You would have to use some macros and open the query on the same page. A RRI is a query jump and not a drill down . A drill down would be getting more of the dimensions into the query.

Object is needed! How is the g_oConnection-object defined?
2. How can I pass values for the parameters from VBA?
If I open the query usually from SAP-BEX-Toolbar, after selecting the query, I get a parameter mask, where I must put in a value. How can I this automatize from VBA? Has anybody a short samplecode for that?

What I really want to do is write a stand-alone application that I can run from windows scheduler that queries our BW for sales data for certain items (in a tabular form) and pulls that data into a VB recordset, or a .NET dataset so that I can insert the rows into another database (SQL Server, or Access) I already know how to do all the data movement to/from datasets and databases I just cannot figure out how to programmatically grab this sales data from BW our company has workbooks already set up that aggregate WW sales information by region (IE, there is a separate workbook for each region of the world) I can manually go into the Excel interface, tell it which items to pull the sales info for, and it dumps the data into the worksheet (organized by customer, and then by cat #)
So, what Id like to do is write an app that will pull data every week or so from the BW (from each regions sales invoice detail workbook), and insert it into another database that we use for reporting other, non-sales, data.
Thoughts on this ? Is there another, non-BEx method that is better ?

we have upgraded to BI7 and When I am trying to save a query as workbook and open it is opening but a junk data is getting displayed in the excel workbook.The excel version is 2007.
But when I tried the same with excel version 03 it is opening fine with valid data.

Thanks Bernd: I am using Adobe Acrobat 10 Pro. I did get a response from Dave Marchant which directed me how to find the layers icon and I found the options icon as suggested in Adobe Help. However, the options do not allow me to choose an option of either merging layers or flattening layers. I am a novice at this and am trying to get this 1-page pdf graphic to convert to a Word document. Is it possible that I already have a single layer pdf and that Word is doing something weird during the conversion? I tried to convert the document yesterday and I ended up with two pages in Word. One page had the text boxes and one had the river channels on which the text boxes had been inserted. This is not a document I created. We have been struggling for 5 years at various times to get this one page document into Word so that it can be used in multiple reports. Even the graphics departments at a couple of companies have not been able to get this document resized from the original 11 x 17 format into 8.5 x 11. I managed to get that done yesterday. But now can't get a useable version into Word. Suggestions?

Hi Jith,
First of all try to consolidate all your objects in a single TR and then move to Q from D.
In this case check for the list of objects that you have in your TRs. If TR 3 have all the Objects that were in TR1, TR2, then transporting TR3 alone will work.
Also, you can find the information related to the elements that were missed in your TR1,TR2 by following process.
1. Go to your transport Logs and then to the entries marked as Error.
2. There you will find the Query Element Ids, copy them
3. Now, go to Table(Se16) RSZELTDIR, there enter those query elements.
Now, you can able to find the elements that you have missed in your TRs. Hope this helps you.

Hi,
The web template 0ADHOC is usually the standard web template for 3.x queries. The Report Designer executes the reports in java web, thus tries to find the template 0ADHOC in the 7.0 templates and does not find it. Check whether you have maintained the standard web template 0ADHOC for 7.0 reports also:
Transaktion SPRO -> SAP Reference Image -> SAP NetWeaver -> Business Intelligence -> Settings for Reporting and Analysis -> Bex Web -> Set Standard Web Templates

Is there any way to find the relation between the Bookmark ID and Query name? The favorite link is not working and getting the above error message. We are also not able to identify the query related to this favorite / bookmark link. Is there any table to identify for query and Bookmark?

How do I reference columns in a report query from another report query?

In Apex 3.1 it is possible to generate a report on more than one query. I have read that these queries can be correlated, but I cannot find how in the documentation.
I go the Shared Components and create a new Report Query:
select * from dept
Then I click Add Query and I add:
select * from emp
How do I correlate these two queries (I want to join emp.deptno to dept.deptno) and have a nice hierarchicle XML-file.
Is it possible in Apex 3.1?

Dik,
This type of query can't be build. The two queries are independent, you can't reference values in the first query from the second query. However you can reference page and application items - which won't help you all that much with this scenario though. You could also try combining the two queries into one, and then take care of the proper presentation in your template.

How to set a bind variable into a vo query from the current vo ?

I would like to exclude from my list of values defined in a view object the already referenced items in the current view object content.
Let's say i have dept and emp with a many to many relationships, I would like that the already existing dept for emp not listed (excluded) in the list of values for emp.
Do i need to define a bind parameters and set it during search or is it possible to use an expression that will refer the current row attribute representing the dept ?
I didn't find an example or explanation how to set bind parameters defined in a view object query from seach pages or list of values ui components. May be somebody know how to find the info.

I think that bind variable accessors in the VO class is what you need. You can override the getter method of the bind variable "LocaleCode2" in order to return the first 2 chars from the bind variable "LocaleCode". Have a look at this blog post for details:

design it first with one page
page will have layout and Event handlers
Design the layout with the fields
in the event handler there are events
in the event On Initiailization or ON inputprocessing write the select query similar to what we write in routine ABAp and fetch the data into ITAB and that has to be passed to the Layout

When creating BSP applications, note the browser dependencies described in Note 598860.
steps:
1) start the transaction RZ10.
2) now u u have to select Profile name, so select the INSTANCE Profile from the list of options given with the Profile parameter list.U may find multiple instance profile in the list, so select the profile in which ur server name is given.
3) u will also find three options in the same window.
Administrator data, Basic Maintenance, and Extended Maintenance. So select the last one from that.
4) Now click on change button.
5) here u will find parameter icm/host_name_full, so now set it as FQDN.
6) Now copy ur settings with new version number.
7) Activate that version.
8) And now please restart ur WAS.
So this will set ur FQDN, and also don't forget to login using Admin User.
Now u also check for following service are active in your ICF setting or not,( just start transaction code SICF)
