Finding Screen Location of the Cursor without a Mouse Event

How can I find the absolute screen location of the mouse cursor if I do not have a mouse event? I have an application where I need to warp the location of the mouse cursor using the robot class and would like to return the mouse cursor to its original location once I'm done.

I had similar problem and asked in the forums a while back, basically what I did was to set the mouse to a "Start" position and go from there.
I know this will not get it back to your current location.

I think it is useless to mention because something I did which is not supported,
1. I installed "10204_vista_w2k8_x64_production_db.zip" database on w2k8 sp2 (64-bit) machine which is supported DB version for w2k8 environment.
2. Companions are available for w2k8 64 bit but HTTP server is not there. It is only available in "10203_vista_w2k8_x86_production_companion.zip". This is a x86 (32-bit) setup and while doing interactive mode installation it is passing all prereq checks on x64 and not showing me any information to not to use this setup for x64. Also, it works fine after installation but not working in command-line installation.
One last question,
Will Oracle provide support on fixing this issue if I contact them or raise SR ?

Pointing, clicking, and getting around
When you move your mouse or finger on a trackpad, you control a pointer (also known as a cursor) that moves across your screen. The pointer allows you to select and interact with the various items on your screen, including selecting files, clicking buttons, dragging sliders, and so on. Sometimes the pointer may look like a hand, a crosshair, an I-beam, or another icon, depending on what you're doing and the application you're using.
For example, if you're using Safari to view this webpage and move the pointer across it, notice that it turns into an I-beam when you move it over text or a text field. When you see this, you can usually interact with the text or field below it. When you move the pointer over a button or link, the pointer turns into a hand, letting you know that you can click on the item.

Populating the screen field when the cursor moves to that field

I want to populate the screen field(MODULE POOL) When the cursor moves to that field.
So can any one help me out with this.
EXAMPLE..
I want to populate 'S10_TOT_PRICE' (Total Price). When the fields like 'S10_PIECES' (Number of Pieces) will be entered. I want to populate 'S10_TOT_PRICE' without pressing any button on the screen nor when enter is hit. When the field 'S10_PIECES'' will be entered with some value and the cursor moves to 'S10_TOT_PRICE' . The Total Price field should be populated. Please help me out with this.

Finder freeze- but not the cursor

After the update of Mac OS X the finder does not answer after some actions (never the same ones). The cursor moves but I cannot select the menu and the dock and even less to open one window. I repaired the authorizations as well as the disc but that does not regulate anything.
Does somebody have a solution?

Link or buttons often are not visible on some pages although I can find them by moving the cursor around in the area I expect the link to be (as in a "Checkout now" button).

This happens mainly on pages from commercial sites. For example, my online banking site. Most of page displays, but often critical stuff like an approval button is invisible even tho the link is there. I have been on the phone with a person at a commercial site who also uses Firefox and that person could see everything on the page. What settings should I check?

I have been baffled by this same problem for almost a month now. The biggest puzzlement for me was that it was occurring on internet pages whether I was using Firefox or IE 6.0. This made me think it was something in my settings but for the life of me I couldn't figure out the setting nor find any answer on the internet.... until today!

It is the high-contrast setting under Accessibility Options from Control Panel. Make sure that the High-Contrast is NOT checked.

Why wont Siri find any locations in the UK?

I have just purchased the new iphone 4s and was really looking forward to using Siri.
1st of all, she doesnt seem to recognise things im saying and secondly, she cannot search for any locations in the UK.
Does anyone know why? Surely thousonds of people in the UK will be purchasing this phone in the UK wanting the same thing.
If anyone knows how this can be resolved or has more information on this, I would like to know.

Siri can only currently search for locations and maps in the US. Apples web site has stated that maps and local search support will be available in additional countries in 2012. Have a look here http://www.apple.com/iphone/features/siri-faq.html

If you can scroll but not move the cursor it is likely the laser lens is soiled. Clean it with an alcohol based substance, let it dry then try again.

Iocane: poison the rodent (simulate X11 mouse events from keyboard)

Iocane: the colorless, oderless, tasteless poision that will rid your system of its rodent infestation. Though no promises about its effectiveness against Rodents Of Unusual Size.
Iocane simulates mouse events from the keyboard. Iocane can be passed a few parameters which - ideally - could each have a key binding in your favorite window manager.
If iocane is called with no parameters it starts in interactive mode (which currently lacks documentation ... hey, I just wrote this this morning). In interactive mode the directional arrows or h/j/k/l keys move the mouse cursor. The number keys simulate button presses (1 = left button, 2 = middle, 3 = right). The page up and page down keys simulate mouse wheel activation. "q" quits from interactive mode returning any grabbed keys to their normal behavior. Key bindings are all controlled from a simple rc file.
Iocane can also be passed a series of commands on the command line or the filename for a script file with a list of iocane commands. Iocane can also read command from its standard input.
Iocane is conceptually similar to some functions of xdotool, but iocane should work under any window manager (or no wm at all), is much smaller, and the interactive mode allows for a sequence of many actions without the program having to start up and close down many times in rapid succession.
Please report bugs or feature requests here. Iocane is currently 127 lines of C, and it will remain small; in other words, features will only be added if the can be added without substantially increasing resource use.

Any arbitrary number of buttons should be easy enough to simulate - provided the Xserver actually responds to events with that button number. An update I'll push to github tomorrow will include a few changes, including buttons 1-9, but if there is need/desire I could increase that. Sticking to 1-9 allows for the computationally cheaper hack of converting a string to a number by simple substracting 48 from the value of the first character; numbers greater than 9 would require the use of atoi() or some funky conditionals. In the grand scheme of things this is fairly trivial, but unless there is a real reason to use more than 9 mouse buttons I'd prefer to keep the lighter code.
Passing a window name and getting it's coordinates is possible but after considering it I've decided it wouldn't fit well in iocane. The reason being that to do a half-arsed job of it would be pretty easy. To do it properly, however, it would take quite a bit of scanning through recursive calls to XQueryTree, polling atoms/wmhints, matching strings, checking for subwindows in the case of reparenting window managers, and a bunch of other nonsense ... all to get two coordinates.
However iocane will play nicely with any tool that will provide those coordinates from a given window name, so I can imagine and invocation such as the following to move the mouse 10 pixels right and down from the top left of a window - lets call it FlamingSquirrel - and simulate a click there:
iocane $(cool_app FlamingSquirrel) : move 10 10 : button 1
Currently that could only be done from a command line invocation, not from a script or interactive session, as it requires shell processing for the command substitution. I can add support for this type of invocation in scripts and interactive mode as well. Then all you need to do is find (or write) a program that will give coordinates for a window given a title/name. I suspect such a program probably exists out there, or if you are comfortable with C, I could give you the starting framework for it as I made something that would have much code in common for another task on these forums (it's in jumpstart.c in the "misc" repo on my github).
In fact, you could use the following
xdotool mousemove --window FlamingSquirrel 0 0 && iocane offset 10 10 : button 1
Though if you are using xdotool anyways, I'm not sure if iocane would serve much of a purpose, unless you just prefer iocane's syntax.

How to make the row header of the JTable respond to mouse events?

Is there an easy way to enable the row header of a JTable so it listens to mouse events? I have put a button in the first cell of the row header but I can't click in it.
I'm asking for an easy way because I've seen some fairly complicated examples on the web that seem close to what I want but I was hoping something simple like getRowHeader().setEnabled(true) would do the trick for my case...

HT5654 after trying to update my iphone4 my phone froze with the itunes logo on the screen. tried restoring the phone without success

After trying the latest update for my iphone4, my phonehas the itunes logo frozen onto the screen. I tried to restore without success. The logo remains, if not plugedin the phone soon shuts off.

When you connect your ipod up to the computer. It should show the device, usually with the name of the device, in my case 'jordan's ipod'. This should be on the row which shows 'songs', 'albums' e.t.c on the far right. There when you click on it it should go to a different screen showing a picture of your ipod along with two buttons - Update and Restore. Click update and it should take a 2 mins while your ipod is updated to the latest version of Ios.
After updating te ipod see if there is a change in results.
PS: make sure the device is active while syncing so keep tapping the screen.

Vertical lines on screen, but not the cursor

for the past week, i've been seeing vertical lines on the screen, up to 3 randomly placed, but none are the actual cursor.
what is this? what can i do to get rid of them permanently?

Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.

Press and hold over the spot where you want to correct. The magnifying glass will pop up, allowing you to precisely position the insertion point.
