Fire and forget OSB service (wsdl based)

Hi,
OSB proxy service message flow comes with request and response pipeline. Thus the OSB service will always be a blocking service. The proxy service based on wsdl having only input parameter will still be blocking call for the client. Is there a way to expose a wsdl based proxy service as one way (fire & forget) ?
Thanks,
Viv

You can do the same using Async WSDL service.
Or use  the action "Reply with Success" in request pipeline after the flow. which simply means, request has been successfully submitted to OSB proxy.
e.g.  WSDL> ProxyService> putting in JMS> Reply with Success.

  • Immediate Response required for Fire-and-forget OSB pattern.

    Hi,
I have a BPEL process (fire-and-forget pattern) which runs for few minutes, but want to send an immediate response back to the caller. The important condition is to have a Proxy implemented as a WSDL-based service type.
For this, I am calling BS (of BPEL process) in request pipeline and sending a changed $body in response pipeline; but the OSB response document us null, though in response pipeline, I do see $body getting replaced.
Any pointers will be really helpful.
    Thnx,
    Nikhil

    like AbhishekJ said
if you defined your operation in the wsdl for the proxy service oneway and in the testconsole you do see the body is getting replaced after the routing is executed it's mostly like because of the oneway operation on your proxyservice itself, make it synchronous and do a test again?
or put a replace with some static xml in the response pipeline, remove the route and see if if still returns null
then you're pretty sure it's the oneway operation in the proxy wsdl itself

  • How to call a local protocol proxy service in Fire and Forget manner

    Hi,
I have two proxy services ProxyA(Http proxy) and ProxyB(local protocol based). I have to call ProxyB from ProxyA but dont have to wait for the response from ProxyB, so its like a aysnc fire and forget call. I tried using publish action with the Mode set to "Request" but the ProxyA keeps waiting for the response from ProxyB. Has any body implemented such kind of scenario? Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Anuj

Ok, I understand. The crucial question here is "what is a caller that you refer to?"
Don't get me wrong, but the problem here is that you probably don't understand, what OSB is good for. OSB is an event-driven system. The event in your case is a new message in remote FTP server. You have to define what should happen when that event is fired. And that's all. You don't have to involve other client (or caller) for this case.
You should define your FTP proxy to retrieve all relevant files from FTP server and then you should route them based on their name/content/encoding/whatever to different consumers. You can also have many proxies if you want - one for each name. It's up to you. But you don't have any "callers" in either case.

  • How to receive bundled iDocs in PI and build web service call based on them

    Hi experts
I have a challenge where PI 7.1 receives 1000 bundled iDocs of the same type and from these PI must generate 3 target messages (SOAP requests). The records in the iDocs must be mapped to one of 3 different target messages depending on the iDoc header value. The 3 target messages must be sent in a web service request to the same web service. The web service will thus be called 3 times, one for each request message.
Will it be possible to handle this using n:m mapping as described in help.sap.com (and then just using 1 source message in the mapping as the iDocs are of the same type) or is a java mapping required and if so, what are the pointers?
    BR Mikael

    >I just realized that I have to call 3 different operations on the same webservice
if you design different soap recv channels, then you can specify action value as specfic to each operation in each soap receiver cc.   If you use same channel for all of them then you might have to use dynamic configuration to populate different  operation as action in the communication channel.

  • Non/late closing conversations without fire and forget

    Hello.
I have two Service Broker instances running on different Servers. Both are constructed the same way but only one of them has trouble closing conversations. This problem started to occur on the 16th of October months after the start of the Service Broker.
Both queues are in the same database. Most of the time the conversation close normal but on some days the conversations close late or never. Here is my monitoring of the conversing conversations per day:
    10/16: 1
    10/24: 1
    11/04: 20119
    11/05: 24207
    11/06: 29848
    11/12: 1
    11/19: 1
    11/27: 1
On the 28th of November in the morning I saw 10748 open conversation for the 27th but the number was decreasing down to one open conversation. As you can see on days where the problem occurs at least one open conversation remains.
I do not understand why this happens. The only difference between the two Service Broker instances is the reliability of the network over which a webservice is called on the receiving end of the Service Broker. Can this unreliability cause conversations
to remain open or close late?
Here an example for a conversation which remains open:

Since we don't know exactly your Service Broker applications are implemtented it is hard to tell. Could you at least give an outline of the architecture?
You have a initiating process? This process sends a message on a service. The receiving queue is in the same database? But what form of activation do you have? Internal, that is a the queue has an activation procedure? Or external, where a process calls
a stored procedure to pick up the data?
Once data has been picked up, what happens next? Does the target end the conversation? How is this handled on the initiator side? Or do you reuse conversations?

  • Features to isolate OSB services from just one slow business service.

    Hi,
Here is a OSB question around a quick business service that suddenly turn to be a slow one and the impact on the overall OSB performance.
Suppose you have a critical OSB cluster in production with many proxy and business services.
Because of requirements, you have a specific sync http business service (web service) that has an acceptable response time around 1 secs. But suddenly the response time goes to 30 secs or even more due to some problem, generating a great impact on thread and resource consumption on OSB side.
Suppose a http time out configuration of 2 secs on the business service is just not enough. OSB continues to crash.
You can use OSB throttling feature but doing that you have to fix a maximum concurrency.
If the service implementation is down, OSB can handle that using "Offline Endpoint URIs" in the operational settings of sbconsole. But in this situation the service is online accepting requests. It's just slow to respond.
This is a hypothetical situation just to stress the problem.
Besides business service time-out configuration and throttling and dispatch-policies on proxy/business services are there any other features that can be used ?

    Wesley,
Ok, once the business service request is sent, the thread is freed. When the response comes, a new thread is picked up to handle the business service response. So in the mean time there's no blocking thread. Yes. It is correct.
Just to make sure, what about the waiting synchronous http client calling the proxy service ?
I mean, this fire-and-forget feature works only on the business service side or entirely for the proxy/business service (That separation would not make sense I suppose) ? The same case with http proxy. The request thread will be used till the BS is invoked in the route node or end-of the request pipeline. After this thread is released. Once the response comes from the http bs on a different thread, that thread will be used till the end of the responsepipeline
    eg
    Client---->Http Proxy---->Thread1{Request Pipeline--->Routenode---->End of Request actions in the Routenode--->Call BS Request} ----->Thread2{BS gets response--->Response Pipeline --->send response back to the client}
For example, a http client is waiting for the proxy service response, but while the business service does not respond, there is no blocking thread at all in the proxy service side too ?Yes. That is true
So, there could be many waiting http clients calling this proxy service, all http business service requests sent, and no blocking threads ?Yes.
What would be the drawbacks of this feature ?Nothing I can think off. Therotically we will be forced to do extra over head when BS latencies are low which might of little practical impact. In that case you can change QOS=Exactly once. BS request and response will be on the same thread , but proxy response thread will be always different from that of proxy request thread no matter what the QOS is set
    Cheers

  • Java client for OSB service

    Hi All,
We have to talk to OSB11g proxy service which is created as Any Soap service (url: http://myosb.firmname.com:7001/osb-ws)
I have java client applications which need to consume this proxy service built on top of OSB by providing the necessary inputs.
Typically we get wsdl url's and then we use Jdeveloper to create web service client proxies to generate client side web service artifacts and call the web service.
But I am confused here as to how can I get a handle to the OSB service from a java client. The OSB developers on the project tell me they don't have and cannot provide a WSDL based URL.
What are the general practices for consuming OSB proxy service from java client apps. Google search result did not yield much help.
Please let me know your thoughts.

    Hi Anuj,
Thanks for reply. As u guys mentioned that about the URL I have rechecked the URL and realized the port number which I was using that was Admin Server Port while environment contains two servers Admin and Managed both. I have change the Port Number from Admin to Managed now its hitting the Service but now another problem I start facing that I need to pass a big XML as input request to that OSB Proxy Service. I have two different code where I am attaching the input request in two different ways but none of them is passing that request to URL and in both cases I am getting default response from URL.

  • [OSB Kernel:398133]The service is based on WSDL with Web Services Security

    Team,
I need to use the wsdl given by external client. When I create a osb business service, I am receiving the below error.
OSB Kernel:398133]The service is based on WSDL with Web Services Security Policies that are not natively supported by Oracle Service Bus. Please select OWSM Policies - From OWSM Policy Store option and attach equivalent OWSM security policy. For the Business Service, either you can add the necessary client policies manually by clicking Add button or you can let Oracle Service Bus automatically pick and add compatible client policies by clicking Add Compatible button.     ...
    WSDL:
    http://personator.melissadata.net/v3/SOAP/ContactVerify
We don't have OWSM set up. Is there any workaround that I can use to connect to this service for OSB?

As a workaround, you can try to remove the Policy definition and reference from the copy you will import in OSB.
I would recommend to add OWSM to your domain. It's a straight forward process.
    Regards,
    Fabio.

  • Messaging Service vs WSDL Based service vs Any SOAP service

    Hi,
What is the basic difference between these three types of configuration for OSB Proxy? Why can't we use wsdl based or soap based service instead of messaging service? Is there any significance for messaging service?
    Thanks

Each configuration defines how the Proxy will interface with the consumers. (In other words the input (request format) and output (response format) specifications for the proxy)
Refer http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/doc.1111/e15867/configuringandusingservices.htm#i1146533 (The description column gives an understanding on this)
Let us know in case of further questions.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

  • How to configure proxy services in OSB for Rest based services?

how to configure proxy services in OSB for Rest based services implemented using Jersey (Rest).
The Client need to contact OSB proxy servies by posting application/xml using jersey client and OSB proxy service will call the OSB business service.
i would like to know how to get this request in OSB proxy service and send it to the business service and get the response back.

I would suggest you refer to the below links:

    Hey kristiac,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, you have no service on the iPhone. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

  • Import Direct Binding Service WSDL in OSB

I was wondering how to import direct binding service wsdl in OEPL. I tried the below but getting an error. Any help is greatly appreciated.
File - Import - File System. .... After importing the WSDL, I'm getting an error. So I was not sure if I'm on the right track or not.
    Thanks
    NC

If you have brought in the whole directory structure then you can simply drag the WSDL into the corrct directory that relates to your imports.
Then you can delete the unwanted directories using the delete key.
If you don't want the directory structory to import you need to be conscience every time that you need to uncheck a check box that is checked by default. Can't remember the exact name but basiclly something like import directory structure.
Once the WSDL in correct folder and still having issues, open up and view the source. Make sure all references are correct for the project directory structure.
    cheers

  • Performance turing sca and osb services from developer perspective..

I am a developer developing sca composites and osb services. My services are taking 2 sec avg. I need to reduce the amount of time taken by
    these services.
What are the various steps to be taken to tune SCA composites and OSB services?

Specific to OSB, please refer to http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/core.1111/e10108/osb.htm#BABCIEAH
Also, you can enable monitoring on Proxy Services @ Action level (@ Operational settings) and analyze the places where its taking the most of the processing time and accordingly try optimizing those activities.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

  • How to register non-wsdl based URL in OEG

How do we register a non-wsdl based URL endpoint in OEG? We had no problem registering a simple WSDL based endpoint on an OEG server. However we cannot find documentation on how to secure/register a RESTful or JSON – URL based service (SOAP, XML over HTTP type service).
Does this functionality exist? Or are there best practices on what to do with OEG for these types of services?
    Our use case looks like:
Akamai - - > OEG - -> OSB (WSDL, RESTful, JSON type web services) - -> .Net service (WSDL, RESTful, JSON type web services)

In case of REST and other non-WSDL type services, there is no SOAP/WSDL based web service like registration process, you'd use OEG as the proxy. You can receive REST based requests at OEG, retrieve parameters (there are convenience filters available for retrieval of attribute values and other types of REST related functions in OEG, as part of the Policy library, "Extract REST Request Attribute", "Validate REST filter", "Create REST Request" etc. - search for REST at the top using Policy Studio, drag it on to canvas and click help for docs on these filters) and do the routing to actual REST end point services. You have the option to receive and use the SOAP message as a basis of generation of the REST url.
    REST to SOAP - http://www.soatothecloud.com/2008/11/how-to-convert-from-rest-to-soap.html
    SOAP to REST - http://markoneill.sys-con.com/node/1989916
On use with JSON: you can convert XML to JSON on the outbound side to serve mobile clients etc. using script based(standard XSLT) conversions at the gateway. Conversions to Java using google gson library is also an option.
To register a REST service, simply map the path (e.g. "/MyRESTService") to the policy you're using to process the REST request.
Let's say you want to simply route a REST request through OEG (e.g. - to OSB). You would create a policy (right-click on "Policies" and add it). Drag in a "Static Router" filter and place in it the hostname and port of the host you want to route to (e.g. - to OSB). Then right-click on it and choose "Set as start" so that it is the first thing which is processed for this REST request. Then drag in a "Connection" filter, and chain it (using a green arrow) after the Static Router filter. The "Connection" filter actually makes the connection to the backend host.
Now, map the path (using "Add Relative Path") to the service so that if a REST request to "/MyRESTService" or "/MyRESTService/something" comes into OEG, it is routed on to the backend host.
Deploy your policy (using F6 or the "deploy" button on the Policy Studio toolbar). Then send in your REST request.
There is actually already a simple REST service setup on OEG, called "healthcheck". If you point a browser to http://<OEG_IP_ADDRESS:8080/healthcheck" then this is run.
If the backend REST service returns JSON, the response JSON will simply be sent back through OEG.

  • WSDL Based Proxy

    Hi,
I’m trying to find out the best way offered by OSB to create proxy service.
I know that you can build your proxy service based on a business service, but let’s assume I need to create a WSDL based proxy service that is not based on any business service and delegates the request to the proper business service based on a certain conditions and schema transformation.
My question, what is the best way to create such a WSDL (for the proxy) "for sure without haviing to write the WSDL from scratch my self". or what is the best approach developing the previous scenario.
    Thanks

true , the creation of the WSLD is where you should start.
Indeed creating a WSDL 1.1 by hand is a pain in the neck. It's very verbose and redundant. WSDL 2.0 is better but not supported yet by OSB 11g. You could automate the generation of WSDL with a script (I have used Groovy, which has got great support for XML parsing and generation), or using some tools like XMLSpy....
The Eclipse WSDL editor is not too bad anyway AFAIR....
