Firefox 1.5 not seeing java

I need to get java working with Firefox 1.5 because I have to browse to site: http://www.hikinghq.net which uses java for navigation. I have read, I think, all pleas for help on this topic here and I still don't see a solution. I have java on my rig here and it works just fine with jinchess, but not with the web browsers.
Does anyone have a simple, understandable, correct method to get java (and Flash) working individually with both Firefox 1.5 and Konqueror?
Let's fix this problem. We can do it !

Just a note, you can find out exactly where packages are installed to by doing:
pacman -Ql packagename
eg.
$ pacman -Ql j2re | grep mozilla
j2re /opt/mozilla/
j2re /opt/mozilla/lib/
j2re /opt/mozilla/lib/plugins/
j2re /opt/mozilla/lib/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so
So, make sure that /opt/mozilla/lib/plugins/libjavaplugin.oji.so is there -- that's where Firefox should expect its plugins.
Not sure I follow the pipe 'grep mozilla', but here's where I am.
su
#go to the mozilla plugins directory

# So we find java
[root@underground plugins]# find / -name 'java'

Still doesn't work. Any clue as to why?

    Hi,
After uninstalling and reinstalling BusinessObjects Edge 3.1, I can no longer see Java tab on Apache Tomcat 5.5.20 Properties in Central Configuration Manager (CCM). I can only see 2 tabs namely Properties and Dependency. Therefore, I could not start my Tomcat because I could not change Java maximum memory pool from 1024 to 768 in the Java tab.
    Please help.

  • Upgraded Firefox and do not see the new style menu nor can I pin a tab as an app tab. I am using Windows XP Sp3. Is this expected because those are Win 7 features?

Ever since I upgraded to FireFox 4 which was supposed to have the new grouped menus I do not see them on my Win XP machine. They show up fine on a Win 7 laptop but my Win XP still shows the standard Menu bar. I also can not pin a tab as an App tab on the XP while I can on the Win 7. Is that to be expected?

You see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden (View > Toolbars > Customize or right-click a toolbar).<br />
If you need to access the hidden Menu bar then press F10 or hold down the Alt key to make the Menu Bar appear temporarily.<br />
You only see the Bookmarks menu button if the Menu bar is hidden.

  • When I try to lounch Firefox I can not see it on my screen, but it works in a background

Usual it happens after the windows is working for an our or more (not from the start). No matter if I try to activate it from the shortcut from the desktop or from program files list from HD. I know that it is opened in background because, when I shutdown the computer it asked me shall I keep the tabs etc....
If I tried to open it several times it opens every time but I just can not see it (not even in the Taskbar).

  • I imported my Favorites from I.E., but when I add a new Bookmark in Firefox, I do not see my folders from I.E.

I can see my imported Favorites in the Bookmark Menu but when I go to add a new Bookmark I can't put that Bookmark directly into a folder that I imported. Looks like I have to create a new folder every time for each new category.

Your imported bookmarks from IE should all be in one folder named "From Internet Explorer". The imported Bookmarks are kept separate for easier identification by the user. You can move them to other folders outside of that folder if you wish; you can also delete any duplicates that you may have placed into Firefox Bookmarks/folders before the import.

  • Firefox browser does not recognize Java plugin in 64 bit Linux

I am running Firefox12 on RHEL5 with Java6u31 installed. Unfortunately firefox will not recognize the java plugin. I have tried linking it in the appropriate directory (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/760718?e=es&as=aaq) and I get nothing. The only feedback I seem to get is that when I go to this website: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ it tells me that Firefox has "disabled my version of Java because it is outdated" which is total BS because I have the latest version! Typing in "about:plugins" only shows the flash plugin (which is in the same directory !!!!)
Java used to work in my browser and flash works fine and I've been trying for ages to get it to work again and I'm at a loss.
Doesn't anyone else have this problem ??????????

6.32 is the latest, check it in : [http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp Verify Java Version]
if update to 6.32 probably you have no problem.
    thank you

  • Why my Linux firefox 24.6.0 ESR cannot see java plugin

    Hi
I have tried to link .mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so to the following (one at a time)
    /usr/jre1.7.0_65/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so
    ./usr/java/jre1.7.0_65/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
    ./usr/jre1.7.0_13/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
I also removed .mozilla/firefox/aiwbua32.default/pluginreg.dat so it can regenerate a new one. Still out of luck. When I go to Tools->Add-ons->Plugins, I just do not see java there.
    Am I missing anything? Thanks

  • FireFox browser does not show toolbar when login to infoview

    Hi,
I am using Business Objects Enterprise XI release 2 with SP 4. When i login to infoview using FireFox I can not see the toolbars and menus needed to create a New Webi report or any other reports.
Has anyone know how to fix this? I tried the following patches , but it did not fix the issue.
    ADAPT01081436
    Description:
In a Firefox browser, when creating a multiple-pane outline of a Web Intelligence report in "My InfoView", an error message
    appears.
    New Behavior:
    This problem is resolved.
Also, I have found below issues from boxir2_en_ServicePack4_readme.pdf document:
    ADAPT00861711
    Description:
You cannot launch a web in a Mozilla Firefox browser from a dashboard customized help URL.
    New Behavior:
The exception handlers now catch errors thrown by Mozilla Firefox.
The error message i see in the Error console is this
    toolbarContainer has no properties
    menuNew has no properties etc

    ambili

Firefox 2 version 2.0.0.20. and the JRE version that is installed on the machine is 1.6.0_30.
I tried the same with FireFox version 3.0.5 and  get the same issue. I did not try to open any reports. But in the infoview first page, i can not see the tool bar from where you create a new report.
The error message i mentioned in the message is actually seen in the Error console from  Tools -> Error Console from the browser

  • Java not working since upgrade to Firefox 7. My coupon printer states I do not have Java so it will not print. Java states it is incompatable with Firefox 7 = No win situation.

I print coupons through Smart Source and it worked fine a few months ago. The site states I do not have Java enabled. I go through the Firefox tab to ensure Java IS enabled. The add-ons it states that Java is no longer compatible with Firefox 7 and there are no updates to correct the situation. I have tried ALL the troubleshooting suggestions but NOTHING has worked. I've tried uninstalling/deleting all prior or duplicate versions of Java and reinstalling the latest version but NOTHING has worked.

Do you see the menu bar or anything else? As for the missing toolbar, this is the case for 90% of Firefox users, for instance the Google Toolbar. To restore it, you need to install Mozilla's Add-On Compatibility Reporter extension from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/15003 and restart Firefox twice.
As for the white screen, I am not sure what you mean, but your install looks corrupted, you probably need to uninstall Firefox and reinstall from scratch. You may spend too much time and effort otherwise. Back up your settings first if you have any, like Firefox bookmarks.

  • I do not see the word Java under Plugins. I need to do an online course and i need Java

I looked under tools on add-ons and clicked on plugins. It said to look for Java and enable it, but I saw no Java there, and I went to the java.com website and downloaded it. Where is it?

You can see the installed plugins on the Tools > Add-ons > Plugins (about:addons) page.
Your More system details list doesn't show the <u>[[Using the Java plugin with Firefox|Java]]</u> plugin, so you need to install Java if you do not see a disabled Java plugin.

  • I am not seeing the Extensions panel in Firefox 10.0.2 ?

After reinstall firefox 10.0.2, when opening the Add-ons Manager, I can not see the components in the Extension Panel. My Java (TM) Platform is SE 6U31 (latest).
I also open Troubleshooting Information tab but there is no information under Extensions, even though my add-ons still work properly (I use Adblock Plus 2.0.3, Xmarks)

    Hi,
Please try deleting the '''extensions.*''' files in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder Firefox Profile Folder] after exiting Firefox. Firefox will reinitialize the files and the info at the next startup. You may be required to re-trust the installations. Click '''Allow this installation''' and '''Continue''' on each tab corresponding to an extension, but click '''Restart''' only on the last tab.
