Firefox 3.6.8 does not correctly display inuktitut text in an input field. Any solution?

Firefox 3.6.8 seems to have an issue with Unicode in input fields, e.g.
The following code
<input type="text" value="ᕿᓂᕐᓂᖅ..." style="font-family:Pigiarniq">
should look more or less the same as
<input type="text" value="ei3i6..." style="font-family:AiPaiNunavik">
The first one uses a Unicode font (available at http://www.gov.nu.ca/english/font/) the second one one of the traditional non-unicode fonts.
The two squares in the first string are not really squares. When you copy and paste the string onto a system with a unicode font containing canadian syllabic characters, then the squares are displayed correctly.
Additional information: I just found that this is not related to input fields, as I thought in the beginning, but also happens within normal Ps or DIVs.
Strangely enough, the following complete HTML seems to work when saving as a local file:

In my current browser session, I see two different renditions of the string:
- on this support form submission page, the string is incorrectly displayed (with two squares) as on the webpage which is currently under development
- in another tab, the above mentioned HTML file displays all instances of the string correctly.

(A) is what I see on this webpage (Firefox support form submission page)
(B) is what I see within the same browser instance in another tab, viewing the above HMTL code
(C) is what happens on the webpage under development.
A and C show the same strange behaviour.
Opera, Safari on Windows and IE display it correctly.

Hi,
I am a bit baffled by this as I haven't seen this in all my
years using Dreamweaver.
I have created a few links, that when rolled over they
display a hidden layer that contains a styled table of contents (No
links in the tables).
This works perfectly as expected on my testing server, but
when it is uploaded to the client webserver, the hidden layers
display below each link, throwing the page out completely, and also
the CSS style does not apply.
Is there something on the clients webserver that needs to be
changed or tweeked to recognise hidden layers, CSS etc?

look at the
code view of the page (either in the CSS or the inline styles
for the
layers, depending on what DW version you are using), do you
see -
visibility:hidden

Messages App (OS 10.8.4) Does Not Correctly Display the Read Count.

For a while now, the messages app in Mountain Lion does not mark an iMessage as being "read." If I read an iMessage on my iPhone, then it will update the read count in the messages app on my MacBook Pro to show it has been read. If I read an iMessage on my MacBook Pro, the blue dot stays and the read count remains unchanged. Can someone point me in the right direction on getting the read count to work again?

And yes, the "read" count is updated between devices. This always worked for me until 10.8.2 was released and it broke on my main system. I have another computer and it continues to work. I read an iMessage on that computer, the blue dots go away from my iPhone and no iMessages show up on the lock screen. For some reason my main computer doesn't function this way anymore.

Monitor does not correctly display after waking up from suspend

Hello,
Awesome WM. I use systemctl suspend to put my computer to sleep. It works fine, however, when I press the power button on my system unit, the computer wakes up but the image is distorted completely so I cannot see what is where... Quiting Awesome WM (win + shift + q, if I remember correctly) and logging back helps, but is not really convenient. I have tried to find a solution for the problem and, as you most likely surmised, with no success.

My Mac does not shutdown properly and is all around glitchy. Any solution?

When Lion became available I downloaded it immediately. I also extracted the install DMG and burnt it to a DVD and a bootable USB stick (thank God).
I have a new iMac 2.5GHz i5 base model (500GB HD 4GB RAM) and I was using Snow Leopard and my Mac shutdown quickly, booted up quickly, and I never had any glitches in the GUI. After upgrading to Lion my system took forever to bootup and shutdown. Even if I don't tick the box to "Reopen windows when logging back in". Sometimes it takes 2-3 minutes to boot, and 1-2 minutes to shutdown. I timed SL 10.6.8 before upgrading and bootup was about 40 seconds and shutdown was about 5 seconds to instant.
Also, after Lion was installed, all the page swipes in Safari and from full screen apps was extremely glitchy and sluggish. Sometimes the screen would get stuck between the apps or an app and desktop. Sometimes the iMac would just plain freeze with the beachball of death. So I thought I had something leftover from SL that was fudging my system. So I booted from the USB install image I made, re-partitioned the HD and reformatted it (I re-partitioned to get rid of the hidden recovery partition and the bootcamp partition). Then I re-installed Lion as a fresh copy. I re-installed all my apps but didn't use bootcamp or any VMs yet.
Now after a clean install, my GUI is no longer glitchy or sluggish. Transitions between fullscreen apps and the desktop is smooth. However, my shutdown and startup issues still remain (and are a little worse). If I tell the computer to shutdown, no matter I click "reopen windows" or uncheck "reopen" windows, it can take 1-2 minutes to shutdown. Also, after being off all night, when I boot my computer, sometimes it will come to the login screen and ask for my password (but I have set it up for automatic login and not to prompt for password on screensaver or wakeup also). I also did not encrypt my drive. So I cannot figure out why it asks me to login. After I give it my password and sign in, the menu bar is not translucent and the airport does not function. Then I must restart Lion and everything is okay again (except it takes 2-3 minutes to reboot again).
I already tried repairing permissions, I downloaded the beta for the latest Onyx last night and cleared out all the caches and told it to verify and rebuild all the scripts. Only about 10 things were repaired in the permissions list. The disk passed verification, and I am not getting any mysterious messages in console. So what is going on with booting and sometimes requiring me to login with a password and booting into a system with messed up menus and non functional airport? I don't want to start my iMac, login, and then restart every time I want to use it.
I have been working with Macs since OS 8 and I have currently have 2 PPC Macs running 10.5.8, and 2 Intel Macs (one is still on 10.6.8 until I solve this Lion problem). I have even played with hackintoshes on my netbooks and in VMware before. I am pretty versed in OS X, but I am at a loss to figure out what is going on with Lion. I don't see any unusual messages in the console or any error messages. When on the phone with Apple care they insist the shutdown issue is not a problem. But the startup concerns me most, since it asks me to login, the I must restart anyways to get it back. It acts like a Windows sytem waking up from hibernation and not loading all the proper drivers.
Sorry for the long post, just wanted to be concise about the issue. Anyone have any suggestions? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks.

The funniest part of the whole situation, Apple Care explained it to me as some kind of feature. The told me how to adjust the time when my computer sleeps and recommend I don't shut it down, let it sleep and "instant wake". I would bet if you called them about your Macbook, they would suggest you just close the lid and let it sleep rather than shutting it down.
Basically shutdown and restart have a problem and the solution is to not shutdown is how they explained it to me. They kept saying buzz words like "instant on" and "fast wakeup". My computer already could sleep and wakeup fast, but now shutdown and restart don't work right. I called them 3 times about it, but since they use these buzzwords, sounds like Lion is meant for a Macbook Air or a Mac with an SSD. If you have a normal hard disk, some of the saving/versions/resume features take too long to be written to the disk on shutdown. And when you start again, it takes a long time to reload the system to it's previous point.
Even if I uncheck the box to reopen windows on next start, it reopens them anyways.
If they can't give me a better explaination or some kind of fix, I will have to go back to Snow Leopard. I use my Mac in a production environment and depend on stability. They assured me before I upgraded that it would be stable and all the new saving and versions features could help my productivity. So far it's not helping me and downright annoying. You need to close all your windows before you close the program... if you have 5 windows open in terminal or textedit... every time you launch, they will launch all those windows. I just really want versions, not resume it seems.
But I can deal with it opening a million windows, just can't take it getting stuck on booting or not shutting down properly. This is a "feature" that should be fixed. LOL

In WAD 3.x when we execute the report in the URL we can see language =EN, (https://inls51556188a:6001/sap/bw/BEx?sap-language=EN&bsplanguage=EN&CMD=LDOC&TEMPLATE_ID=ZLUMM_Q100_TPL01)so even when the user browser settings are in German still the report gets displayed in English where as when the user login in German and execute the report in WAD 7.0 it displaying the techical names for text data and infoobjects names as there is no text data maintained in German.
Is there a way to fix the language in the iView of the WebTemplates directly in the Portal.If so how can this be done?

As my project had grown beyond the point where I could keep a global overview, I tried creating atool that dynamically creates a kind of hirarchy for my TS libraries. It runs quite well for a small test setup, but crashes due to missing memory for the whole project. Any ideas?
A short description: I do all coding in LV7.1.
* Firts I open an automation refnum to TS.Iengine and invoke the method 'GetSequenceFileEx' with the path to my main seqfile, Flags = 0 and conflicthandler_Error.
* Than I use that sequencefile object to invoke the method 'Getsequence' with an index of 0 (assuming this beeing the 'MainSequence').
* For the returned sequence object I invoke the method 'GetNumSTep', which is fed into a For-Loop. Inside that loop, the very same object reference is used to:
- invoke 'GetStep' with the loop index
- with the step object i get some proiperties like Name, some expression and bolean values. If the step 'can_Specify_module', I invoke 'GetDescriptionEx', before the step object is closed (cvlose reference vi)
- I also invoke 'Parameters' on the step object. The parameter reference is used to access the property 'getLocation', which than is used as lookupString to access the property 'GetNumSubProperties', which I take as number of parameters of that step. Finally the parameters reference is closed
* The reference to the sequence object is closed after the for loop.
I fianlly get an array of description for all steps in the sequence file, in the order they are called from mainsequence there.
This array is used to recursively add a similar subarray for any subsequence call in it, until all calls are resolved (using a while loop that runs until the loop counter reaches the number of steps in the step description array).
The array is than scanned for 'typical' errors of mine like wrong parameter number at subsequence calls, missing/misspelled subsequences andf so on.
The LabVIEW execution accumulates more than 1 GB of RAM. LabVIEW itself reports just some 100kB of used RAM. So I assume the difference is RAM used by TS as a child process in LV. What can be done?

I tried out you tool and took a quick look at it and it ran fine. I did notice that LV memory grows during execution but only a few kb with a standard demo from TS (the increase is about the same size as the file being saved at the end). This is expected bahavior since results are being stored in memory during execution. When it is done, my mem goes back to about what it used to be before running. 1 GB of Mem seems to be very very very high! Did you expect it to be like this? How big is your txt file being created? Is the VI you posted exactly what you are using or do you have additinal loops that make the VI run continuosly and save to txt after multiple runs? I did not see any critical issues with your VI but I also did not go into your code in debth.
As long as you close all your TS references in LV, you should not havbe any mem leaks.
If you expect big fiole to be created, your PC will use up all RAm then use Virtual mem, the size for Virtual mem can be set in the Control Panel in Windows, usually tough, the system can set it dinamically, this might help you avoid crashe.

Hi, are you saying that you start Firefox and it stalls -- you can see it in the Task Manager but it never displays -- but if you kill that process and start Firefox again it starts up properly that second time?
If you look at the statistics available in the Task Manager's processes tab such as bytes read or other bytes, can you see whether Firefox is doing anything at all? ''Note: You might need to add columns if your Processes tab isn't set up to display statistics. You can do that from the View menu.''

I can only guess about the reason... Firefox works with many websites' "rich text" editors, but ones that haven't been updated for five years may assume that Firefox is the old Netscape browser and use scripting techniques that don't work in Firefox.
If Verizon has a different "basic" or HTML editor that you can tolerate using, you could try that. It might not be subject to the same incompatibilities.
If I someday get a Verizon account, I will surely be looking into this further, but for now, it's hard to suggest anything else.

Firefox location bar history does not clear

Problem: When I attempt to delete or clear the Location bar, nothing happens. The Location Bar remains fixed and does not update as I browse. This fixed Location Bar history still remains despite various methods of clearing it.
Specs: Running Firefox 3.6.8 on Windows Vista.
Details: Despite various methods, location bar history remains fixed and does not change or update as I browse. I wish for it to display an accurate history but it instead remains fixed. The only way to clear it is to open Tools > Options, and click on Nothing under Location bar suggestions. However, this renders the location bar useless for providing history.
- Selecting websites in Location Bar and pressing "Delete" or "Backspace" has no lasting effect. The website goes away while the Location Bar is pulled down, but reappears in the exact same spot when the Location Bar is viewed again.
- Clearing recent history, with time range set to everything and all options selected in the Details panel, does nothing.
- Pressing Ctrl-Shift-H and deleting all history does not clear Location Bar.
- While in History, highlighting any websites displayed on the Location Bar and telling Firefox to forget it does not clear the Location Bar.
- Running Firefox in Safe Mode still gives me the same problem. Location Bar does not change.
P.S. Location Bar does not display Bookmarks. There are no stars next to any web addresses despite changing Location Bar Suggestion settings to "Bookmarks".
I simply want to get my Location Bar back in working order, but have been unable to do so following the conventional methods suggested on Firefox Support. Thanks for your help!

I am not entirely sure what you are looking for, there have been some changes with Firefox 4 compared to Firefox 3.6
The menus have been re-worded slightly. The file menu toolbar may still be displayed if required. The bookmarks library/manager is still available from the firefox button, I think it now says 'open all bookmarks' rather than 'organise bookmarks'.
If you say what menu items you are looking for, and say what action you are trying to perform, maybe we can provide a better answer.
