Firefox 3 Beta 5: No Margin settings page

I don't see any Margins Settings Page in the binary I installed for Firefox 3 Beta 5. However, the Windows version has such a page.

neildarlow wrote:I think that is because margin settings are a function of the printer driver which you globally configure under System|Administration|Printing.
After starting to file a bug report on this, I found someone else complained about it, but noted the way to set Margins with this version of Firefox is
Page Setup
Paper Size
Manage Custom Sizes
Create a new Custom Size and then set margins there.
Very unintuitive.

  • Firefox 13 beta: problems with new-tab page

I'm using Firefox 13 beta. The new-tab page is an awesome feature, but it does not work well.
When i'm visiting sites it does not changes. It still like this: http://img195.imageshack.us/img195/2474/56130e74e4b842268628eba.png
If I restart Firefox, the new-tab page will have some sites, but with no thumbnails, like this: http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/8289/74eadf18095b43a39696159.png

I deleted the content of the cache folder, and now it seems to work.

  • Firefox 7 beta is not printing all pages

All is in question. I have found a page http://www.modssl.org/docs/2.8/ssl_reference.html which is around 20 pages. When I print it in firefox it prints only first 10 pages. in IE works fine. Firefox displays only 10 pages in the print preview as well so this is not a problem of printer. I am using firefox 7 beta, Winxp sp3.

I'm not sure why, but it seems to be related to the use of the <fieldset> tag around the content. Firefox apparently doesn't paginate that tag as expected.
To see how it would appear in print preview substituting a styled <div> tag, you could run the following snippet of script:
    (1) Copy the following to the clipboard (it's all one line):
    <br>var fs = document.querySelector("fieldset"); var dnew = document.createElement("div"); dnew.setAttribute("class", fs.getAttribute("class")); fs.parentNode.insertBefore(dnew, fs); while(fs.childNodes.length > 0) dnew.appendChild(fs.childNodes[0]); dnew.setAttribute("style", "margin:0 2px; padding:0.35em 0.625em 0.75em; border:2px groove #eee;");
    (2) On your test page, open Firefox's web console (Ctrl+Shift+k or Web Developer > Web Console)
    (3) Paste the code next to the caret (>) and press Enter to run it
    (4) Try print preview

  • On installation of Firefox 4 beta, it tells me that it won't run on my Mac. When I go to system requirements, it takes me to a page for Firefox3.6 requirements. Where can I find the requirements for the beta?

The link to system requirements for Firefox 4 beta takes you to a page that gives you the requirements for Firefox 3.6 instead. I assume that the requirements for the beta are different as I can't seem to install the beta on my Macs. Where can I find the beta system requirements?

I never expected Mozilla to neglect the users of Apple's PowerPC (PPC) computers, while still supporting much older operating environments such as Windows XP. So, I should just throw away a $6,000 system, which is still fast and functional, and contribute masses of heavy metals to land-fills because…?
I'm hurt and confused after supporting Firefox for many years — installing and using it not only on my own computers but on most of my customers' computers. Now I have to tell my customers with PPC Macs they can't have a secure cross-platform browsing experience from Mozilla. They'll have to learn to use some other browser, or buy a new computer.
If one doesn't buy a new computer every year, one doesn't deserve Firefox 4. This is sort of sounding more like a Microsoft™© doctrine. (But wait, I can still have Firefox 4 on a ''SERIOUSLY CRAPPY WINDBLOWS XP pile of rubbish?!'') Please open your eyes Mozilla. This just doesn't make sense.

  • Firefox 4 beta 12 can't print a page to adobe pdf printer unlike ealier versions

instead of bookmarking a page, I'd print to adobe pdf printer so I can always access offline but now it is no longer possible with firefox 4 beta 12. at first I thought adobe acrobat professional was corrupted so I repaired it - but I still had the same problem. I have installed acrobat professional 8 but nothing has really changed.
    Mark.

This nasty bug is a known problem caused by the beta 12 update. You could wait til' the RC comes out, or you could grab one of the latest nightly builds availible here that fix this problem: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla-central/
Just a note though, nightly versions of firefox are generally less stable than betas or releases. I am waiting for the Release Candidate to come out myself. (Should be early next week)

When I start firefox 4 beta 8 I had it set to go to www.google.com. The pages comes up but then Firefox just have the green circle going endlessly and the web site never finishes loading. I restarted firefox 3.6 and it has no problems at all. I tired Chrome and Safari and have no problems using their browsers.

It is not a Firefox problem. It is a BSNL Broadband problem. They are automatically redirecting all users to motive.bsnl.co.in whenever they restart their modem/router.

  • Is it possible to have different margin settings for odd and even pages?

    Hi guys.
I am formatting a book I want to get printed and it would be very helpful to have different margin settings on the odd and even pages so the text won't fall too close to the gutter (as happened in the proof copy I ordered!).
It's possible to do this on Word, but I can't seem to do it on Pages? Am I missing something?

  • How can I change the margin settings in the pages inspector to make them more specific for label templates. I need margins that can be set to hundreths of a centimetre not just tenths.

How can I change the margin settings in the pages inspector to make them more specific for label templates. I need margins that can be set to hundreths of a centimetre not just tenths.

I doubt you need hundreths as you would not even be able to measure that and the printer doesn't hold the paper to those tolerances.
fruhulda is right. Pages accepts higher measure but rounds it in the measure field.
If you want absolute accuarcy you need to set your measures to points. Everything else is being recalculated.

  • FireFox 13 Beta won't log in to my Google Calendar Web Page

I just upgraded from FireFox 12 to FireFox 13 Beta, and it seems to have solved the problems I was having with slow loading web pages in FF12. However, I find that I can't log in to my Google Calendar with FF13 Beta, although I can with other browsers - I.E., Opera, Chrome.
    Any suggestions?

Thanks a40098, That fixed it. Appreciate the assistance.

  • Printing from LR3: page margin settings get ignored

I'm trying to print from LR3.3 on 10x15 cm paper with 0.5 cm of margin on all sides. It is no problem to set this up in the print module, everything looks as intended on screen. However, the margin settings are ignored and I get a borderless print.
    My system:
    Win7 64-bit, LR 3.3 64-bit, HP B9180 printer (connected by USB cable)
    Things I tried:
    - changed the settings for the paper from 'borderless 10x15cm' to '10x15cm'. Result: the image is printed flush with the left paper edge, with uneven margins on top, right and bottom. None of the margins is 0.5 cm.
    - print to file: works fine, margins exactly as specified!
    - print from Photoshop CS5 (to check functionality of the printer driver): resized the image to 9x14 cm, printed from PS CS5 using the borderless paper setting: exactly as intended, the image is centered and has the correct margins all around.
Any ideas why I fail to print what I see on screen in LR? Are LR and the printer driver not talking correctly to each other?
    Thanks for any input!
    Christian

I have found a solution myself in the meantime and thought I'd post it here, for the benefit of anybody with a similar problem
Right click on the printer in the control panel > printer properties > advanced, where at the bottom the button labelled 'print processor...' can be found. Clicking it brings up a list of print processors installed on the system.
My problem was solved by selecting the 'winprint' print processor instead of the one from HP. With winprint, I can print with the desired border settings, but only if I select 10x15cm as paper, not 'borderless 10x15cm.
The person that pointed me in the right direction mentioned that with this solution, borderless printing does not work. I have not tried that as I am ususally not printing borderless.
The root cause of the problem is that HP's Windows 7 driver is not working correctly. I have little hope that this will change, as the HP 9180 has been discontinued (sadly).

    Hi,
I developed a web application using HTML5-Offline Application Cache mechanism. Inspite of deleting the cache as mentioned in the above steps, Firefox still maintains a copy of the page in it's cache. Also, a serious bug is, even though we delete all temp files used by Firefox, and open the previously cached page, it displays it correctly, but upon refreshing/reloading it again shows the previous version of the page maintained in the cache.

We have had this issue many, many times before including on the latest 3.6 rev. It appears that when the applicationCache has an update triggered by a new manifest file, the browser may still use only its local network cache to check for updates to the files in the manifest, instead of forcing an HTTP request and revalidating both the browser cache and the applicationCache versions of the cached file (seems there is more than one). I have to assume this is a browser bug, as one should not have to frig with server Cache-Control headers and such to get this to work as expected (and even then it still doesn't sometimes).
The only thing that seems to fix the problem is setting network.http.use-cache to false (default is true) in about:config . This helps my case because we only ever run offline (applicationCache driven) apps in the affected browser (our managed mobile apps platform), but it will otherwise slow down your browser experience considerably.
