Updating Attached File

Please help!
I've attached a .pdf file (attachment file) to another .pdf file (source file) using the "attach a file as a comment" tool on Acrobat 9.0.
However, the problem is that I've updated the original attachment file by accessing it through the source file and saved it under a different name (updated attachment file).
I noticed when I clicked on the icon on the source file that the attachment file content is different from the content of the updated attachment file. In other words, the attachment on the source file was not synced with updated attachment file that had the changes on it.
Seeing this, I tried to find the original attachment file to update that directly. However, when I look at the properties of the original attachment file, the path leads only to the file where the source file is found.
Is there any way of accessing this original attachment file or having the changes synced when I make changes to the file that I originally attached?
Also, does the new Acrobat X have functions that would solve my problem with the "attach a file as a comment" tool?

There are no 'auto sync' features for attached files in any PDF software. Once you attach something you are creating a totally independent copy. You have to delete the attachment and add it back again.

Can't attach files or photos after microsoft update to 8.1

I have a HP Envy Desktop all in one computer which I purchased in April 2013 with Windows 8. Recently my Microsoft automatic update added Windows 8.1. When that occured it knocked my printer off and I reinstalled. I use Outlook 2013 for email. Another new problem I have since the upgrade is attaching files and pictures by the method I am used to and like best....
That is opening the document or picture file and choosing those I want to attach, then clicking "share", "email" and "attach" which includes choosing the size I want. The outlook icon on the bottom toolbar turned yellow, showing the new email was ready for me to complete. I can no longer do this. The process goes through all the steps but does not attach. I am in my mid 70's and have used computers for many years but am not tech savy. What is the gliche here??
I can still open a new email, click on "share", "insert" and choose a file or photo to attach. However, I prefer the method described above and have used it for years as I work on genealogy.

Trouble updating record w/ attached file.

Hi, Posted in the SQL forum but no response. Hopefully someone here will have an idea. My application has a file upload feature so a file can be attached to every record saved with this INSERT on Submit:

The only problem I have, is when I edit/update a record. I don't want to create a new record with a new file. I want to update the existing one with a new file. I have Automatic Row Processing (DML) to edit the record data but it does not submit the "to-be-attached" file info. For this I need another process. With that in mind I would like to add to the INSERT process another WHERE condition to show which record to update:

Thanks Warren but I don't think I was very clear on OP. I want to include the " where PATCH_NUMBER = :P3_PATCH_NUMBER; " so that the process knows where in the DBA_PATCHLOG table to insert the data (blob_content, mime_type and so on) coming from wwv_flow_files_table.

Can't attach file in mail since the last update

Have updated the IOS to 10.8.5, ever since , I'm not able to attach files to mail ....... Any solutions ?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

I have a similar issue.
After updating Pages to 5.2, all Word export documents are 10 times the size they'd normally be.
A normal exported .DOC file that would have been under 200K, is now 1.7MB once exported. !!! ???
This is a major issue with Pages.

Cant open attached files Dreamweaver CC update August

I installed the brandnew DW CC update from today (August, 27th, 2013) and now I cannot open the connected files any more in this subtab which shows all related (attached files), for instance the css file. Opening a file by its own is working.
Its always prompting that the cetrain file is not in the local directory and if I want to get it. Trying this also throws an error message.
The css file is working properly, it is stored locally and I can open it on its own.
It seems to be a bug with the new update?

I could isolate the problem. All my files are stored on a NAS, because we are six programmers. As sson as I store the site files locally on my Mac, DW finds the all dependend files and opens it. Its a problem with the path. Path to my NAS is shown when hovering over the name of attached file in the tabs: NameOfLocalHD:NameOfFolderOnNAS:NameOfProjectFolder:AndSoOn:NameOfFile.css
I know that Adobe is recommending to store files locally, but this is no options for us. Every programm and tool we are using is able to handle a NAS and server-environment. So should DW!
Please fix this bug, as it was working before the update.

Updated to Firefox v.30, now I can't attach files to my Gmail or download files from websites. The troubleshooting stuff doesn't work. What's wrong?

Shortly after my PC (WinXP SP3) auto-updated to Firefox 30, I found that I could no longer attach files to my Gmail. Clicking on the paperclip icon would make the screen blink, then nothing. No list of files, no selecting files to attach.
Further testing showed that I could no longer right-mouse click on an image and save it. The right-mouse click will bring up the menu, but when I select "Save Image As" again, the screen blinks, and nothing happens.
When I tried attaching my resume to an online application, the website's "Browse" button won't bring up a file-listing to select my resume.
I have tried all the actions suggested in similar posts: I have disabled my anti-virus, I have cleared cookies, I have reset Firefox, I have restarted my router. Nothing has fixed the issue.
I do not have this problem when using IE8

For now, you need to create an exception to pop-up blocking for Gmail. Here's how:
While you have the compose window on the screen, click the padlock in the address bar.
* If the pop-up permission is listed there as Block, try changing it to Allow.
* If the pop-up permission is not listed there, click More Information to launch the Page Info dialog, then click Permissions in the top bar. Scroll down to "Open pop-up windows", uncheck the box for "Set default" then click Allow and close the dialog.
Then try the paper clip again. Success?
Unfortunately, that is "Google-wide" and not limited to mail, so... other pop-ups are possible that you've never noticed before.
Google indicates on their forums that they're working on fixing this, so you might check in a couple days whether you can block pop-ups on Google again.

How to create list items with multiple attachment files using rest api javascript

In one of user form I am using javascript rest api to create a list item with multiple attachment files. So far I am able to create list item and once created uploading an attachment file. But this is two step process first create an item and then upload
a file.
It create an additional version of the item which is not desired. Also I am not able find a way to attach multiple files in a go. Following is the code I am using.

But this does not solve the core of the issue. You are uploading attachments after creation of item and multiple files are being attached in loop. This is kind of iterative update to an existing item with attachments. This will end up creating multiple versions.
What I am trying to achieve is to create an item along with multiple attachments in a go. No item updates further to attach a file.
Please suggest how this can be done in one go. SharePoint does it when one creates an item with multiple attachment.

I cannot attach files in Gmail within Firefox. I can attach files in Gmail from Chrome and IE.

I know it has been mentioned elsewhere too ( https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/999383 ), but I cannot reply to that message... so, here it is again, with full details of the testing we have performed so far....
ALL users or our organization are currently affected.
When you try to attached a doc, xls, pdf, etc. in Gmail the results are all the same in Firefox. You get a red bar with "attachment failed" and an option to cancel or retry.
We have tested with our Proxy On and Off. We have tested with no extensions loaded (I get the message with my 3 extensions on or off -- Adblock+, Ghostery, HTTPS Everywhere). Versions on which the issue has been seen include 25, 26, 28, 28.0.1 and 29.0.1 (the latest as of this post). Most users in our organization do not use extensions with Firefox.
Attachments link up just fine in IE 10 and 11, and Chrome (with Adblock, Ghostery, and HTTPS Everywhere turned on). This error is only seen in Firefox, with or without plug-ins.
Operating Systems used for testing were Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
The issue was first reported to us today, 5/13/14, but it is unknown if the issue has been around longer. However, Firefox is our organization's default browser due to countless web software vendor recommendations. We most likely would have heard before today if the issue has happened previously.
Any tips or suggestions would be welcome here.

Without trying any of the fixes, the issue seems to have gone away on its own. All users (of about 7 reporting in) can attach files within Gmail using Firefox as of 5/15. We did not try any of the 4 fixes listed above. On 5/13 and 5/14, users could not attach files to Gmail messages within Firefox.
However, on the day of the issue we did try all the mentioned fixes (except #4). All affected users had all history and cache wiped, updated to v29.0.1, and the latest Flash plug-in from Adobe.com. We have the browsers set to clear all history, temp files, cookies, etc. at exit to avoid any cached data issues. We tried with proxy on and off too. Attachments were in the 20K-35K range, so very small. They failed on 5/13 and 5/14 within Firefox, but attached fine in IE and Chrome on the same days.
So, not sure what the issue was, what caused, or why it went away... but we cannot reproduce today, as of 5/15.

Can't Attach Files in 10.9 Mail via Menubar/Toolbar

All of a sudden I cannot attach files in Mail via menu commands. A selection (finder) window opens but all items are grayed out (no matter what location). I can still attach files by dragging them from the Desktop (or other location) into the body of the email.
Isolation:
-Issue persists in Safari when logging into webmail.
--Choosing to "attach" a file to an email (new composure or reply) from the webmail attach links brings up a Finder window with all content grayed out.
-Created test admin user.
--logged in as new user.
--set up Mail w/ an email account.
--attempted file attachment from menubar/toolbar icons.
--works.
***issue is user specific.
Resolution:
-Access primary user ~/Library/Preferences/.
--locate files named "com.apple.finder" .plist (may have multiple files w/ additional characters).
--select all and move to Trash.
--Restart.
-log in and test.

Your profile indicates you are running a very old version of Leopard which might explain the issue.
Update to 10.5.8 using the combo update (not the auto software update) and see if that fixes your problem.

How to attach files from "Office" to E Mail

Hi,
I am using a Nokia Lumia 720. and I have an outlook account, which I use with regularity.
I have faced a problem which is still not resolved - how to attach files in the mail.
1. You open Outlook Mail or any mailbox that you are using and then you click on the "attach file" icon and you are taken directly to Albums. But the word, excel files which you want to use are stored in "Office". There is no way you can attach a file from "Office" after you have typed your mail.
2. So I used to go to "Office" first, select the file, share it in Outlook or any mail I am using, and then type out my mail. But in this way I could send only one attachment.
I believe that there is a way to address this issue and I would like to know how?
Shall be obliged for your suggestion/solutions.

Acrobat Reader DC one source of pdf attached files

I have a MacBook Pro and found that since updating to Acrobat Reader DC there is one source of pdf attached files that do not open (I just get a black screen).
I do not have this problem with my iPad nor with an iMac also running the same reader.
I cannot find any 'switches' that will resolve this problem. I get an error message saying that Acrobat Reader DC could not open "File reference" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged. This cannot be the case as this file opens on other computers so it has to be localised to my MacBook Pro. Other pdf files open normally and I am at a lost in deciding as to what is going wrong and how to rectify.

If the same attachment can be viewed successfully on other devices, then it must get corrupted during the download on that one machine.
People should really stop sending e-documents as attachments, it is much safer using a file sharing service such as Acrobat.com - upload and share the document, then send the download link via email.

In Firefox, can't attach files to Yahoo Mail outgoing messages. Yahoo Mail works fine in Internet Explorer though.

Since yesterday, when I switched from Comcast to AT&T as my broadband internet connection, I have not been able to attach files to my Yahoo mail messages using Mozilla Firefox. I don't have this problem when using Internet Explorer, but my default browser is Firefox by choice. Is this a Yahoo issue or a Firefox issue? Can you help me resolve it?

Not helpful. 'clearing Firefox's cache' is not helpful, since 'cache' doesn't show up in any of the Firefox pulldown menu choices (wasted time looking for that), and the plethora of things 'recent' and 'history' to choose to act on in these menus is also a possible waste of time, not to mention removing useful info for no reason.
I, too, have had this problem 'intermittently' for many months, always involving the 'first' file to attach in a Yahoo! email, and I've always used this workaround OK: click on the filename showing as 'being attached' (while Yahoo's doohickey round spinner denoting 'in progress' whirls and whirls to no effect) and use "Remove File"; THEN, REPEAT 'attach file' task & it then works, if slowly. After that for the same email, attaching add'l files NEVER HAS A PROBLEM.
SO, now today, without any software update yet (I've downloaded Firefox v.11 & will install shortly), at numerous attempts during the day, I CANNOT get the FIRST file to attach in a Yahoo! email. Simply, utterly, frustrating without any rhyme or reason. "Everything else, on plethora of sites, working fine."
