Firefox button rollover issues

Strange one... I have a flash file that works in every browser, except Firefox.  In Firefox, it appears that the Y coordinate is "off". You can only use the button when you are approximately 200 pixels down the screen.  I've tested in Chrome, Safari and IE 7 with no problems.  Any ideas?  FYI..the only other info I've been able to find may point to wmode, which in this case I have to set it to transparant so the drop down boxes above the flash movie stays "over" the video.  Here is the link.

Any ideas?

chrisrubal,
Interesting.  When I test that URL, the button seems just fine for me in Firefox.  The hotspot is positioned exactly where it makes sense (same for IE, Chrome, and Safari, all on Windows).  Does this issue persist for you when you clear your cache in Firefox?

A setting of "transparent" does allow Flash content to appear under other HTML elements, but you really only need "transparent" when the Flash content includes transparency.  WMODE is known to be a bit dicey (has been since its introduction), but anecdotal evidence suggests that "opaque" is a bit less problematic, and both of those -- transparent and opaque -- let your layer your SWFs behind CSS menus.
Not sure if WMODE is the cause for your issue, but opaque is worth a shot.
     Here's a bit more info:

  • Button rollover issue

    Download zipped
    FLA
If anyone is bored, I'm having a problem with a rollover
issue in the above movie that I have been creating. It is an
interactive, navigable map of city parks. Rollover of the
individual dots marking park locations on the map works fine. But I
am also trying to list all the parks' names on the right, where you
see the "Bergen Park" button. This is so that the user can either
mouse over the map locations and see the park name
    OR
find where the park is located by mousing over the park name
on the right. I want this "Bergen Park" button to cause a section
of the movie clip that has an instance name of "bergen" to play,
making the Bergen Park dot on the map enlarge when the "Bergen
Park" button is moused over. I thought that this actionscript would
    do it:
    on (rollOver) {
    _root.bergen.gotoAndPlay("11");
    on (rollout) {
    _root.bergen.gotoAndPlay("19");
But it is not working when the movie loads. Only if I mouse
over the Bergen Golf Course dot on the map does the "Bergen Park"
button start acting like a button. Otherwise it just gives me a
text cursor when I mouse over the "Bergen Park" button. Any help
    would be much appreciated!
    Kevin

had a look at your fla and didn't quite work out exactly what
was "working fine" for you. a few comments on your code:
    1. don't you need a stop action on frame 92 ? otherwise it
    continues looping.
    2. flash is case sensitive - be careful of this - on
(rollout) might work even though the correct syntax is on(rollOut),
but this is because the on handler is ancient syntax (pre dot
syntax). most flash syntax requires you to have the syntax
    case-correct.
    3. Why is each of your dot clips inside a group? They were
very difficult to find. I can't think of a reason for them to be
inside groups, so I'd recommend selecting all of them and breaking
the group apart so that you can see where they are!
    4. The way you've structured your flash file has redundancy
and is going to be a nightmare to make changes to. Imagine if you
or your client decides that they want the dot to pulse twice when
you rollover it. You're going to have to make that small change 42
times. Or even imagine if a URL changes for one of the buttons.
There is a unique line of action-script to open that URL on every
key-frame within the dot movie-clip. so changing a URL would
require making that change on 6 keyframes, let alone the park name
reference to it that you are building on the right. The minimum I
would suggest you do is to have only one movieclip which contains
the animation of the dot pulsing, and then for you to put the
button event handlers on those movieclips, rather than inside those
movieclips. There are even better ways you could go about this, (by
storing the urls and titles in arrays, or even xml, and then
placing the event handlers on the movieclips via their instance
names on one frame of action-script), but this would at least
    remove your redundancy.
    5. but i digress... to return to your question - the text
cursor appears not when you point to the bergen park button but
when you point to the area between {2, 0} and {502, 20}, because
this is where you created a dynamic text field:
    _root.ToolTip.createTextField("TipText", 2, 2, 0, 500, 20);
    _root.ToolTip.TipText.type = "dynamic";
add this line after the above code:
    _root.ToolTip.TipText.selectable=false;
and your problem should be fixed...

  • Button Rollover keeps shifting on hover  - Firefox only

    Hi there,
I have a shopping cart button rollover that keeps on shifting
a few pixels whenever you roll over it. Strangely, this only
happens in Firefox. The page can be
    found here
The button is being called from a template .
    located
    here.
I also tried putting the button directly into the original
page, just to see if it was a problem with the template, and it
    still shifted.
    Any ideas?
    * EDIT *
I think it was an extra <tr> tag floating in the table.
However, now I'm getting an error in IE although it renders fine.
    Sigh.

Have you considered using "set text of layer" (could be "set
    text of
    container")?

  • Firefox back button visual issue...

    Hey there,
Overall, Firefox is just amazing. I registered this forum just report a bug about the Back-Button visual issue. The Back-Button in Firefox looks broken visually on start. When I open Firefox and enter any website, Back-Button looks visually broken. But later it look okay. I've taken some screen shots about that, but don't know how to attach them here. I am running windows 8 on my computers. Don't know about other OS users, if they are experiencing the same issue or not.

  • On Android 4.2.2 on a Nexus7 tablet - No Firefox button and most text entry fields do not work at all

I installed Firefox 19.0.2 and appears to be ok, but I don't see a Firefox button anywhere, so I cannot access any of the functions that it controls, such as bookmarks, which is why I installed it!
The ASUS Nexus 7 tablet shows up as a supported platform.
I set it as the default link browser, but quickly realized that I could not enter text into any data entry fields, so I reset the default back to Chrome, which works fine for that.
I installed Firefox because bookmarks in Chrome are very lame, but I can't use bookmarks at all in Firefox, so again Chrome wins.
Any suggestions, before I uninstall it?

I am now a Democrat supporter. dccc.org does accept text input from my mobile.
The forum problem I mentioned earlier is apparently a known issue but only affecting legacy phones.

  • How do I get the orange firefox button to show up on the top left corner of my page?

So, I've installed, and reinstalled the new Firefox 4. It seems like only half the features have shown up. For example, I don't have the orange firefox button in the top left corner. I also don't have the button for bookmarks. On every other machine that I've installed firefox 4 on has not had issues like this. I don't know why I'm having issues on my laptop. If there's a way to fix it, I would appreciate it. I don't mind how it is right now, but I do like the cleaner look and the orange firefox button, instead of the buttons that show up now that are labeled: "File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, etc."

    * You see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden (View > Toolbars > Customize or right-click a toolbar).
    * If you need to access the hidden Menu bar then press F10 or hold down the Alt key to make the Menu Bar appear temporarily.

  • Perssonas not being displays - Themes are but top of window not colour and firefox button not shown correctly

I have installed the personnas plus add on and have tried to select several different personnas (e.g. Earth from space etc.) but none of them appear to be displayed. The window remains its default light blue.
I am not aware that i have installed anything else which could have affected this situation.
When attempting to apply a full theme the very top bar of the window (with minimize, exit etc.) is also not coloured as it should be - see the theme FT Deep Dark 5.6 for example. And the firefox button has an orange 'fuzzy' ' glitchy' border around it still.
Cheers if anyone knows anyway around this problem :>

hello Kirie_kore, it is a known issue that light-weight themes are currently not shown when firefox is set to ''never remember history'' (a.k.a. always run in private browsing mode) in firefox/tools > options > privacy. this will be corrected in the upcoming firefox release.

I uninstalled firefox and reinstalled it and the sweetpacks is still there. I have successfully uninstalled it from programs and it is no longer on internet explorer or google chrome. I need help getting rid of it from firefox
I use firefox all day everyday for my business because I like the tabls and i do not know how or why sweetpaks appeared.

hello, please go to ''firefox/tools > addons > extensions'' & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes] & [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner].

  • Firefox buttons not working - Can't refresh Firefox

Firefox is working very erratically on my PC
I cannot press any buttons on the top bar. When I press "preferences" nothing happens. I also can't press some buttons that appear on webpages.
One of them is the "refresh" firefox button, which is supposed to solve this kind of problem.
I also tried uninstalling and re-installing firefox, but this didn't help either.
    I'm using Windows 7 64-bit.
Explorer works ok for me, but who the hell uses explorer?

Start '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode Firefox in Safe Mode]''' {web Link} by holding down the '''<Shift ''(Mac Options)'' >''' key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
You can also reset Firefox from here, but try Safe Mode first.

  • After installing 'Classic Theme Restorer' firefox button not working

installed 'Classic Theme Restorer' to revert back to usable ui.
this hides/removes the firefox button from the toolbar and puts the old firefox button (orange) in the top left corner.
i also added the new 'firefox button' back to the toolbar, since there are options in this menu not present on the old menu.
however, this toolbar button has no effect, and the menu is not opened.
i have already tried resetting the toolbar customization, as well as removing and re-installing the extension.
issue initially started on version 31, and still exists on version 32.0.1
how can i get both the firefox button, addon bar, and stop/refresh buttons to the left of the address bar?

You can try to reset the <b>browser.uiCustomization.state</b> on the <b>about:config</b> page in case there is a problem with the prefs.
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

  • Tittle bar and firefox button not vizible in maximized (not talking about full screeen) mode

I updated to ff 19.0. now the upper portion of the browser is not visible!
this includes the Firefox button on the left, the minimize, maximize and close button on the right and the open tabs.
I know they are still there bc the cursor can go slight above visible and if I right click I can get some familiar sources, of course if guess correctly where the cursor is!
If it in partial screen, all the normal options are there.
I tried restoring to defaults, and finally uninstalled and re-installed it, but same problem.
As mentioned above, this is not related to F11 full screen.
    IE and chrome work fine.
I would think i'm not the only one this is happening to!
    thanks.

hello, please try [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|updating your graphics driver]], or in case this doesn't solve the issue or there is no new version available at the moment, disable hardware acceleration in ''firefox > options > advanced > general''.

  • The firefox button and the panorama view button are both missing in FF4 RC1

I updated to FF4 RC1 two days ago and noticed that the panorama view button was missing and the firefox button, which is supposed to replace the File, Edit, View etc. menus had not done so. So basically, I'm still stuck with the FF3 style menu buttons.

The Firefox button is default on Windows Vista and 7, but not on XP. The best explanation I can find was on one of the bug reports.
"In terms of external consistency, nearly every app on XP uses a traditional menu bar (windows explorer, etc.) While some users will prefer to switch to the Firefox button, I think we should stick to the native interactive style for each platform to reduce overall confusion and allow for an easy transition to the new version."
There were a few reasons for not displaying the panorama button by default. It can be confusing to those who have never seen it before if they click on the button, and there are some issues concerning memory usage that have still to be sorted out.

  • Why do Firefox buttons stop working?

A few times each day, buttons like the close, minimize, and cascade buttons top working, and I can't switch tabs. When this happens I have to use the Firefox button and go to exit. The Firefox process remains running, so I have to exit it via task manager. Why does it do this?

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • My Firefox 4 does not have the feedback tab, Apps Tab, or Firefox Button. What is going on?

I installed the Firefox 4 beta and received the message "The operation cannot be completed because of an internal failure. A secure network communication has not been cleaned up correctly," and I have no idea what that means. Also, I am running Windows XP, but all the screenshots on the website seem to be from Windows 7. I do not know if either of those things is causing my problem. I am not about to change my OS to get the most out of a free browser, so hopefully this can be fixed without moving to 7. If not, can someone tell me how to move back to FF 3.6?

I was able to get the Firefox button, and to see Apps tabs, so thanks for that.
Still, I had a lot of issues. I got that bug every time I opened FF 4, and it was actually preceded by what looked like the system re-installing the program.
Also, it would not let me open any web pages. Maybe the problem is that I still have FF 3.6 on my system, and I have it set as a start-up program. Still, this is the first beta I have ever tried, and I am not willing to let go of 3.6 just yet. I actually tried to install wubi instead, but I couldn't get FF4 working on Linux, either.
In any case, I only installed the beta because I was getting impatient for the finished product. I have uninstalled it now, and will probably just wait for release of the new version unless you know what is causing these issues. Thanks again for the help.

  • How do I install a foxit button on my tool bar? I recently upgraded to the latest version, but my tool bar does not contain a firefox button which is need for certain tasks, such as private browsing.

I had an existing laters 3 point whatever version of Firefox and recently upgraded to Firefox 10. This new version still has the old toolbar across the top, but there is no "Firefox button" which one has to use to activate certain action such as "private browsing." Is there anyway I can install the button on the toolbar, or is there a way to change to the new version 10 interface which includes the Firefox Button. I would prefer the former (the old configuration with the tool bar on top, but if that cannot be done, how to I migrate to the new configuration which apparently puts the tools on the side, if I'm not mistaken.
Thanks for any help you can provide. I have Windows XP.

If you have the old fashioned toolbar, you can still go into Private browsing by clicking Tools, then "Start Private Browsing". All the options that are in the Firefox button are in the old style toolbar, just maybe a little more hidden.
To enable te Firefox button, go into View, then Toolbars, then uncheck "Menu Bar". You should have the Firefox button.
