Firefox continually suggests me to download imcompatible java plugin

about one time a week, ff asks me to download this version of java plugin that is not even supported. if i go through with the process, it downloads, starts fox, notifies me that the plugin is not compatible and will ask to restart or remove at close.
then, the cycle starts all over again. its kind of annoying.
how can i get it to block this update? OR is there a way to have the plugin installed, but not utilized? (disabled?) so that i can get ff to ignore the desire to download the update, but still not have an incompatible plugin installed?
help! i love my fox, i have supported it a long time and have never had this kind of annoying issue.

It is probably about the Java Console extension.

  • Trying to download the Java Plugin is an impossible situation !   Help ! !

    Dear People,
    You cannot believe what I have been through trying to do a first applet !
    A long time ago downloaded a version of the plugin (a cup of coffee icon in the control panel). Then recently I downloaded a new version
    (1.4.1_01) (a second cup of coffee icon in the control panel)
    Well I was not able to run my first applet after creating a good
    batch file (with help of course) named javacompile:
    echo off
    cls
    PATH=C:\j2sdk1.4.0_01;C:\j2sdk1.4.0_0\bin;C:\j2sdk1.4.0_01\lib;C:\WINDOWS\jbproject\objectdraw.jar
    javac -classpath C:\WINDOWS\jbproject\objectdraw.jar;C:\WINDOWS\jbproject %1
    my program MakeBox.java compiles ok at the Dos prompt
    when I open the MakeBox.html in the browser the error message says:
    "The required component is not available for this version of windows"
    I was told to uninstall the plugin and download it again
    So I took 50 minutes to download it and the message said:
    "You already have the jre1.4.0_01 do you want to uninstall ?"
    so I said "no" ... was this an idiot move on my part?
    then it continued to download the plugin and when it was done it said:
    "You already have the java plugin, do you want to uninstall it?"
    I answered "no"....was this also an idiot move on my part??
    What to do ?
    totally confused

    Dear People,
    I just received an e-mail letter from the author of
    "A Eventful Approach" Thomas Murtagh ! ! !
    The most advanced Java paradigm text for Java beginners ! !
    http://applecore.cs.williams.edu/~cs134/eof/
    Even though his letter is very clear, my brain doesn't know what
    to do in the context of compiling at the Dos prompt, (trying to do my
    first applet). Below is the letter and then the code to MakeBox.java
    and MakeBox.html Please shed some light for me.
    Thank you in advance
    Stan
    I meant that in our definition of the WindowController class, we said:
    public class WindowController extends Applet {
    So, when you say
    public class MakeBox extends WindowController {
    the MakeBox class you define is (indirectly) an Applet. In particular,
    with most Java programming environment, you can run the program as an
    applet (i.e. using Sun's appletviewer or JBuilders applettestbed).
    Tom
    Here is the code:
    import objectdraw.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.applet.*;
    public class MakeBox extends WindowController
    public void init()
    this.setSize(new Dimension(400,300));
    public void onMousePress(Location point)
    new FilledRect(40,80,30,20,canvas);
    <html>
    <head>
    <title> Make Box
    </title>
    <body>
    <applet
    codeBase = "."
    code = "MakeBox.class" width = 300 height = 200 >
    </applet>
    </body>
    </html>

  • I am using Mandriva Linux now and I have installed Firefox 6 but I could not install Java plugin with it. Can anyone please help me how to install it?

    I am using Mandriva Linux now.
    But I am using Firefox 3.6.8, but I cannot install java plugin in it.
    Can anyone please help me how to install it?

    The plugins folder in the Firefox installation folder doesn't exist by default. There is no default plugin in Firefox 4, so that folder would be empty and in thus not included. If you want to use that location then you need to create a plugins folder.
    Did you try /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins ?

  • Has anyone with XP, svc pk 3 downloaded new Java plugin update and if so, is FF working okay afterwards?

    Anybody else wondering about this? Has anyone else with XP w/32 bit, downloaded the new Java update in plugins and are you running okay?
    I want to update my Java plugin, but am waiting to see if others with XP, 32 bit have updated and how it works for them.
    Thanks!

    Zukki, just go to your tools, addons and addon manager. It will bring you to your plugin page, and on the left top, in very small print, it has a link to check if your plugins are updated.
    Oh, I left this open so that Zukki can see how to check to see if his update worked, Andy. I'll click that you solved it, once he gets a chance to see where to find the plugin update status.
    Thanks for the link, Andy...the only reason I crashed is that I have very limited RAM. I need to look into buying more and am going to next week. Another topic for discussion! :)

  • Why my Linux firefox 24.6.0 ESR cannot see java plugin

    Hi
    I have tried to link .mozilla/plugins/libnpjp2.so to the following (one at a time)
    /usr/jre1.7.0_65/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so
    ./usr/java/jre1.7.0_65/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
    ./usr/jre1.7.0_13/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
    I also removed .mozilla/firefox/aiwbua32.default/pluginreg.dat so it can regenerate a new one. Still out of luck. When I go to Tools->Add-ons->Plugins, I just do not see java there.
    Am I missing anything? Thanks

    Ok, problem solved, need to clean all the history, cache, cookies. etc

  • Hi, I have the newest update of Fire Fox which is 10.0.2. I can't get the Java plugin to download to Firefox.

    I am wanting to get Java working on Firefox so I can utilize chat rooms and other programs that use Java, and no it is not Javascript that I am talking about. Every time I go to a site that utilizes Java it tells me that I need to download the Java plugin. When I click on the link it starts to download the Java plugin, but instead of installing the plugin it installs Java for Internet Explorer instead.

    Is it possible to use 32-bit firefox with 64-bit java plugin?
    I'd like to use 32-bit firefox and I already install 64-bit java plugin.
    Is that a right choice not to install 32-bit java plugin?
    Will these cause problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    Nope - you need the 32bit Java to go with the 32bit Firefox if you want Java to run

  • I have a program that requires a Java plugin version 1.6.0_17 can you tell me where to find it?

    I need this particular version, but have no clue how or where to find it. I am operating under Windows 7 currently. Can someone point me in the right direction?? Thanks in advance1

    You can download Java Plugin Version 1.6.0_17 (as well as many other versions old and new) by visiting 'File Hippo' at this link:
    [[http://preview.tinyurl.com/btg95oh|Java Oracle Plugins]]
    Please keep in mind however that the Firefox Java Plugin has blocked JRE versions below 1.6.0_31 or between 1.7.0 and 1.7.0_2. As of April 2012 some Firefox versions automatically block all Java plugins which are Java versions less than 1.6.0_31, therefore every user that has a problem and is running with a Demantra that supports Java higher than 1.6.0_19 can upgrade their Java plugin to 1.6.1_31. Demantra 7.3.0.2 and all versions of 7.3.1 support it.
    Anyone who has a problem while running on an older Demantra version that does not support Java versions newer than 1.6.0_19 cannot use Firefox with Demantra. Instead they can either use Windows Internet Explorer (IE) without a Java upgrade or they can upgrade their Demantra.
    If they upgrade to the latest Java version then the Demantra plugin will not work - not with Firefox and not with IE.
    If you still need additional help, you can find it at [[My Oracle Support.|My Oracle Support]] Oracle's one-stop online technical support portal offers a wealth of resources for customers.

    In order to protect you, Firefox has stopped some versions of the Java plugin from running automatically because of security issues. However, you can still use Java on trusted sites if necessary. • Java plugin the idiots guide to installing ?

    For the love of ... how do you import these java plugin in's. Every time i get a software update i need to re~download the java plugin to play Supremacy 1914. Can some one provide an idiots step by step guide to installing this software. Many thanks.

    You don't say what operating system version you are on and the process may differ depending on this, however for Lion and Mountain Lion the following applies.
    The latest Java update from Apple issued this week removes the Java Preferences utility from the Utility folder and also removes Java Applet support from all web-browsers.
    To reinstate Java Applet support you need to go to http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp
    Then click on the 'Test the currently installed version of Java' link
    Then you should see a message saying Missing Plugin, click on this
    You will now get a dialog box, click on the More info button
    This will take you to a download webpage for the latest Mac Java software
    Click the button to download the Mac Java software
    This will download a disk image file
    Once it has finished downloading mount the image file by opening it
    In the Finder window it opens run the Java installer by double clicking on it, and then install as normal
    Quit the web-browser
    Relaunch the web-browser (which forces it to load the new Java plugin)
    Visit the http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp page again
    Click on the 'Test the currently installed version of Java' link again
    This time it should work and show you the version proving it is working

    Last FF version that works flawless on my home rigis v8. From v9 on hangs pages, hangs entire computer, "not responding" for long periods of time. Have completed all the "firefox hangs" suggestions. Reinstalled clean, reinstalled clean flash, ran w/ new and w/o Java, safemode, hardware acceleration off, clean profiles... Only savior is to return to v 8. Same package of addons are loaded on other computers I have w/ no issues. Graphics drivers are up to date/ XP drivers and releases are up to date. Use the same settings for v8 and each that have updated since. Have set to not update in v8 but it constantly updates itself and begins the crash/hang cycles. Resources are using less the 20% cpu and ram when hanging is occurring.

  • Why can't i download usps' java, in order to select my printer and print shipping labels? btw, how do i get firefox 4.o back, since i can't use google toolbar, i want to change back

    The java applet will not download and allow me to select my printer, so as to print my shipping label from the US postal service.
    Also, can no longer use google toolbar, all my bookmarks with
    the ff 5.0, so prefer to go back to the ff 4.0.

    Not a good idea to post a phone number in a forum. Anyone with access to the forum now has your phone number. Return to the forum, sign-in, click "Edit" to the right of your post and remove that phone number.
    Many users have restored the functionality of Google toolbar by installing the '''''Add-on Compatibility Reporter''''' extension. Google needs to test the toolbar in Firefox 5 and change one line of their code to make it compatible with Firefox 5.

    You either do not have Java installed or you have it disabled in Add-ons > Plugins. See if you have Java Platform SE ''version number'' installed there. If there and disabled, click the "Enable" button and try the site again. If not, install Java.
