Firefox goes into Safe Mode when I don't want it to

Sometimes, usually while doing Javascript development, I will quit out of Firefox to escape from a lengthy process (e.g. an "alert" message embedded in a loop). This is a nice feature, BTW, better than having to "force quit," but when I restart it often comes up in Safe Mode, which disables my Web Developer tool bar, Firebug etc. Can I stop it from doing this?

A few times a week
== I think when I went to FF 3.5

Once in recovery mode, it is too late.
For future reference, photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera especially when the photos are very important.
Have you never synced your iPhone with iTunes? If you have, when was the last time? Photos/videos in the Camera Roll are included with the iPhone's backup which is updated as the first step during the iTunes sync process if you have selected to update your iPhone's backup on your computer. Or you can select to have the backup done wirelessly with an Apple iCloud account.

  • When I open Firefox, my computer goes into safe mode. How do I fix this problem?

When I open Firefox to do some browsing, my computer goes into safe mode. When I close Firefox browser, then it goes back to normal. I know there has to be a simple fix, but I have not found it.

Check that you do not run Firefox in compatibility mode or with a reduced screen resolution.
You can check that in the "Compatibility" tab in the Properties via the right-click context menu of the Firefox desktop shortcut.<br />
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.

Can you boot into your Recovery partition (hold down the command and R keys whilst booting)?
Call back - you'll be able to connect to this forum from Safari whilst in Recovery.

  • Wifi goes on and off, backlit keyboard doesn't work and no sound since Lion  upgrade. I can get the wifi back by going into safe mode and re booting(someone suggested on here), but can't let computer die or turn off or have to do it again.

My Wifi connection goes off if computer dies or shuts off, I can only make it work if I go into safe mode and reboot, it was just that, but now my keyboard doesn't light up like it's supposed to in low or no light and in system preferences it's like it doesn't exist.  Also, the sound doesn't work, I can't turn it up or down, it shows the sound icon grayed out and the anti symbol when I push F11 and F12, also it's like it doesn't exist in system preferences either. I have never had any problems with my MB Pro, I purchased in Feb. 2010. , but I upgraded to Lion last month, I haven't been using my laptop as much since I had an Ipad I given to me, so I think that's why I didn't notice these issues right away. What do I do? HELP!! Do I take it to Apple? I don't have the Apple care warranty, so will it be expensive for them to fix? Can I get my money back for Lion if I restore to Snow Leopard?

Take it to an Apple store or AASP. How much it will cost will depend on their determination of the problems. To bad you didn't purchase extended AppleCare. No you don't get your money back for purchasing Lion.

  • IPod goes into recovery mode when plugged in, and forces me to restore

Basically what is written above ^^ is what is happening to my iPod Classic 80GB. It hasn't done this until recently, and every few days or so when I go to sync new songs onto my iPod, it goes into recovery mode and says that the iPod must be restored. Now, normally this wouldn't be a problem, but when you have an 11,000 song library that takes around 4 hours or more to sync, it gets really under your skin.
I'm running Windows Vista, any help?

I just purchased a Classic iPod, and two days later it is stuck in this restore loop. The iPod worked fine until the restore was complete. When unplugged from the computer, it responds fine, but now cannot sync at all to put media on the device.
Current machine is WinXP SP2 (work machine). It is also happening on Win7 desktop, 13inch Macbook (OS 10.6.3), and Mac Mini (OS 10.6.3)(personal machines).
Does this appear to be a faulty device?

  • IPhone 5 going into recovery mode when trying to update iOS 7

My 5 went into recovery mode when trying to update to 7.0.2 OTA. At first I was like ok just a glitch. Well trying to update to 7.0.3, it did it again. So right now I am again in the process of restoring and updating my 5.
    What is going on?

because I'm an idiot.. of course.. All my other over the air updates have worked, I had a good wifi connection, knew I had a backup, and was desperate to get past the initial bugs I've been experiencing..
I downloaded iTunes on my work PC, enough to get it going again, which I bascially had to do twice.. iTunes didn't find a backup and said that iCloud didn't have a backup, even though it did.. So, it did a basic install of iOS 7..  I then erased all settings from the iPhone itself and when it restarted I chose to restore from iCloud which the phone was able to find..
Have not seen anything better.. I've had a couple random reboots. Once when swiping the Starbucks notification on the lock screen, the phone immediately crashed back to the apple boot screen.

  • How do I turn off Firefox checking for updates (I am fed up with Firefox continually asking to update when I don't want to due to previous bad experiences)

I would like to turn off firefox checking for updates
I don't want to update due to previous bad experiences with updates (version 4 and version 5)
I am frustrated by being reminded on a daily basis to update when I don't want to

    Use
*'''Firefox button -> Options -> |Advanced | -> |Update|''' and uncheck the update option, or opt to ask first.
    * see [[Options window - Advanced panel#w_update-tab]]_update-tab
    * and to downgrade
**[[installing a previous version of Firefox]]
** and the download itself [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html]
    Also note that currently
    * firefox 3.6 is still supported, and has had recent security updates
    * plans are to continue supporting it despite any comment on the download page
**(not sure how long for but see https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/Planning/2011-09-07#Questions.2C_Comments.2C_FYI ) confirming continuing support for Firefox 3.6
    * Firefox 3.6 has updated with security fixes, so is I think now 3.6.22 ; but it is NOT currently trying to upgrade its users to the current firefox release (Firefox 6)

  • I just updated 3 addons and now Firefox goes into background mode and I am not able to reach the Tools/Addons to disable any addons.

Firefox stays in foreground for maybe 10 secs before going into background. I can't reach FF to do anything with FF.
I have to use Task Manager to close FF.
I don't remember which 3 addons were updated, but I was notified of updates when I tried to open FF at about midnight this morning.

hi there i tried the removal of the sessionstore.js file and and fired up the mozilla firefox up again and still no joy from the windows xp machine all other browsers work fine, its just hanging still, reading the article from the link you sent i can't any issues that i am getting but i did manage to un-install the FF8 again deleted any folders and dowloaded V3.6.24 from here http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
then updated from there and all seemed to go well then yet again i got the same issue ,when i open the browser i am unable to type in the search and use the mouse on the File edit etc menus rendering the browser useless so i think its a the update to V8.0 that is causing the issue, when i reinstalled i had no themes no plugins the extensions on the 1st boot ticked the MS .net there was that and java Un-ticked when the browser booted up it was the same hanging for ever . i think i may stick with the older version for now until a fix is available as there is some thing that does not like this new version on that pc... but i hope you can help me to upgrade as its annoying now
    :-)

  • Firefox goes into glitch mode. Please fix this for a future version.

I am having a problem and had this problem for a really long time. Firefox would enter glitch mode. Here is an example:
    http://www.factslides.com/
When I hit the next arrow, it would freeze for a second, and if I hit it multiple times, it would go to another page without me hitting the button. I would like this fixed for a future version.

  • My macbook goes into 'sleep' mode when my mobile runs over the bottom left corner, next to the trackpad, does anyone else have this problem?

Not sure if anyone else has this problem. I only noticed it a few weeks ago when I left my mobile on the keyboard, towards the left of the trackpad. When I started typing I accidentally nudged my phone off the board and then everything went black. I hit any button and everything turned back on again. I'll assume that it went into 'sleep' mode. Is this normal or should I be worried about the health of my mac?

I am facing pretty much the same problem ... although sometimes the click does work on other parts of the trackpad, but largely I have to stay focused on the left bottom corner. It's getting slightly frustrating esp. because I like the click better than the "tap" and my MAC is only a month old!!
Is this a software issue or a h/w problem?

  • Firefox goes into offline mode for no reason

Periodically, with no consistency I can detect, Firefox puts itself into offline mode. After clicking the "try again" button from one to several times, it finally recognizes that there is in fact an Internet, and deigns to connect with it. I have never manually put Firefox into offline mode.

You can try to create a new Boolean pref with the name network.manage-offline-status and set the value to false.
You can right-click on the about:config page to open the right-click context menu and use "New > Boolean" to create a new Boolean pref.
    Name: network.manage-offline-status<br />
    Value: false<br />

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.

  • IPhone 4 goes into speaker mode when making calls

Hi, if someone knows a fix please do share as i just runned out of ideas and i cant find anything else online to repair this issue.
I have an IPhone 4 everything is working fine but when i make or recieve a call the device goes automaticly to speaker mode and i cant hear or be heard.
At this point im getting suspicius its a software fault, as i already did most common procedures like reeboting, reinstaling IOS, changed the mic and speaker module, changed the power connector for a new one and none of these work as the IPhone is still in the same condition.
Ive read another fix involving an audio complier chip fault, but im not too keen in separating the logicboard and saving it for last resource.
I´ve foung this video on Youtube that is the exact match to whats happening to mine but noone seems to know whats happening.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JctbSYLfwI
    Thank you

Basics from the user guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.  Have you gone through any, if not ALL these steps?

  • What do I do if my iPad2 goes into recovery mode when you were trying to install iOS8.1?

So I got back home from school and I saw that there was a new update. So I decided to install but I didn't have enough space for it. I uninstalled a few games and now I can install iOS8.1. Well it was on "verifying update" for about 5 minutes then all of a sudden it turns off. When it turned on it told me to connect itunes then I knew I was in recovery mode. Now my question is what do I do after this? Please help me out on this.

See if this similar post helps.
