Packing multiple materials in one Handling Unit

Dear Friends,
In an outbound delivery, I want to pack 8 materials in one single External Handling unit.
How should I use this?
Presently I am using BAPI_HU_PACK 8 times to do this in a loop & passing the same HU in parameter
BAPIHUKEY-HU_EXID for all the time but with ITEMPROPOSAL which is different all the time.
Is this the right way to pack multiple materials in the same HU?

Hi,
Please explain a little more clearly.
Do you have an existing HU and you just want to assign it to the delivery or you want to create the HU also.
Please check how it is executed when working online.
HU that you want to assign to the delivery should have same/equal materials as that what we have in delivery.
Please check this out.

Mixed materials in one handling unit

Dear all;
I need your help about packing.
We are going to use packing in sales delivery. We need to pack items automatically using packing instructions and packing proposals, but we need to pack different materials in one handling unit. For example we need to put A, B, C materials in one packing material.
System can decide the packing material quantity using packed material quantity (we can use the same unit for all materials), weight or volume.
I'll be pleased to hear any solution about that.

[1 Material into 2 packing Items;
Afetr enter in to Packing screen you can find Material ,Partial qty and Total quantity colomuns under Material to be Packed screen.
here you enter 10 in Partial qty colomun then click on per part. qty push button now system will ask Should system search for allowed packing material? you select Yes now system will pack the 100 qty in to 10 boxes and each will have 10EA.
( system displays the availablae pack material- you can choose this mat - for 3 diff materials)

today we dont have any bom explosion.so, we only have item 10 on the sales order . but need to include Country of Orgin on all items .
how we can do in configuration?

this looks like sales bom, but not like a handling unit.
A handling unit would be if you have 3 items in a sales order and pack them via Edit > Packing Proposal.
if you only have 1 item in the sales order, then you can only mention different Country of origins in a long text

Pack two or more Outbound Deliveries into the one Handling Unit

Hi Gurus,
I'd like to, sometimes, pack two or more Outbound Deliveries into the one Handling Unit, can anyone please advise how this can be achieved.

Hi Simon,
there's no way you can do that, the HU is owned by the delivery, so the relationship is one to one.
In order to be able to pack items coming from multiple deliveries into the same HU/HUs you'll have to use Shipments: basically a shipment is made of deliveries and HUs are owned by the shipment, that way you would be able to achieve your result.

Is it possible to combine multiple Pur Reqs for multiple materials to one vendor into one PO through MD07?

We have material planners who use MD07 (traffic signal screen) Stock/Requirements List, Collective Access tab to review material requirements by MRP Controller. Once the list is created, they select individual materials and review them in MD04. In a lot of cases, Purchase Reqs (PRs) are reviewed and adopted into POs individually for each material. Sometimes they will combine multiple PRs for one material into one PO. This is a good practice. However, from what I have found, it is not possible to combine multiple PRs for multiple materials into one PO. If this was done it would dramatically reduce the number of POs that we are issuing to suppliers. Problem statement: We issue too many POs which causes additional influxes down the line (receiving dock/goods receipts processing, receiving issues, invoices, invoice issues, etc.). Does anyone know of a way to address this problem without a major overhaul in approach or customization of the system? Thank you in advance!

As far as I know, this is not possible directly from MD07, only from the MM transactions.
The following thread suggests the following procedure to convert several PRs into one PO:
Conversion of multiple PR into single P.O
Drag and drop the first PR from the item overview to the shopping card on top of ME21N,
then open the PO detail delivery schedule tab and drag and drop all other PR to the shopping card shown in the schedule tab
You can use the same procedure, calling the order conversion from MD07 and then drag and drop another PRs into this PO.

One handling unit wrongly updated to the delivery out put

Internal handling unit number is showing delivery document number in table *vekp* but real handling unit contains no delivery document number and shipping point. Could any one guide me how to find out the delivery document of this handling unit.

i have a handling unit and an inbound delivery which is created using mb_goods_movement_create(MIGO). so, the HU has to be packed with a material which can be seen in vl32n.
i used ws_delivery_update. It did not work.
pls suggest some other FM

Two serial numbers assigned to one Handling Unit???

Hi All,
I've a handling Unit HU 1000XXXXXX - correct in SAP with XYZ material with a serial number. But also another unit ABC has a different serial number also in some way tied to Handling unit 1000XXXXXX. This is an MTO for a sales order. Not able to understand how the other serial number is also assigned to the same HU.
Please suggest me to identify the root cause behind this.

You posted qty 2 with serial number's
Now you have stock of 2 qty with serial number
when you do delivery, you have to assign serial number which is already in stock.then it will show status properly
Remain qty 1 and 1 serail number.

Packing instructins not picked during Handling Units

Hi all
I had created the packing instructions with the packaging material and the material to be packed .
when i tried to create the HUM's with reference to the packaging instructions the material to be packed is not getting picked .
can some explain what could be the possible reasons .
I simulation tab of the packing instructions the status of the packaging material is " ? "

the steps i followed are
1) created packaging instructions using POP1 for a material .
2) Maintained POF1 - Create Packing Instruction Determination Record during this i checked and able to see the packaging instructions assigned to it too for STOC .
3) Non-Assigned Packing profile with STOC condition type exists .
still i am not able to pick the automatic packing instructions while using HU02 .
please correct me if i am wrong somewhere .

Handling Unit with multiple batches

Is it possible to create a Handling Unit with multiple batches, when packing a Handling Unit in a Production Order (COWBPACK)?

When I create a packing instruction (transaction POP1), I can set indicator "Indicator Batch Mix Allowed".
Explenation:
If this indicator is set, then several batches of the same material may be packed in one handling unit.
Otherwise, only one batch may be packed.
Use
When determining the packing status, the system checks for batch mix violation.
But I still can not create an HU with different batches.
Can anyone help me?

Please help me out in handling a project consisting of Packing and HU. I want to know how it can be done in dairy products. Here in dairy, we will have two kinds of packing. One is milk into Plastic packet and the other one is packets into crates. If you give detailed customization part along with the sequence of the steps, it would be of great help. 1. Define Number Ranges for Handling Units by going to IMG-->Logistics Execution >Shipping>Packing-->Define Number Ranges for Handling Units
2. Packing Control by Item Category
3. Define Packaging material Types
4. Define Material Group for Packaging Materials
5. Define Allowed Packaging Materials
6. Define Packing Instructions
Transaction code POP1
SAP Menu R/3 Easy Access>Logistics>Central Functions>Handling Unit Management>Master Data>Packing Instructions>Create
7. Define Packing Instructions Determination Records
Check with Material master data if the error comes. maintain material group pack matl.

Packing of Material inside Pallets in Handling Units

Hi All,
Let me know me any user exit or BADI to create pallet inside handling units. If there is any give some information about parameters and how to use.
I have an urgent requirement to pack material inside pallets in Handling unit in following way.
Suppose there are 3 Materials M1, M2 and M3 and their Quanities to be packed are 30, 50 and 25 and suppose the size of pallet in which they will be packed is such that it can hold maximum 20 each then materials will e packed as given below. Then all should be packed in such a way that remainder qty should go to the last.
first 20 of M1 ( since 10 is remainder it will go the last )
then 20 of M2
then 20 of M2 (since 10 is remainder of M2 it will go to the last)
then 20 of M2 ( 5 will go the last)
Now in new pallet we can put 10 of M1 and 10 of M2
and in next pallet 5 of M3.
Tell me any user exit or BADI to acheive it I am creating deliveries from Transaction VL10E.

More than one deliveries into a single handling unit

Hello,
We are a retail apparel company and use SAP to communicate delivery requirements for our stores. We would like the ability to consolidate our deliveries into a single handling unit. This will help reduce freight and will simplify our receiving process in our retail stores.
For example, many customers pre-order merchandise that will be received into our distribution center and then shipped to a Retail store for customer pickup. We would like to consolidate mutliple orders going to the same place so that they can be packed into a single box. Each customer request results in an order being created and the box that the order is packed in is the SAP handling unit. The issue we have is that if 10 customers request the same merchandise, it is easier to pack the 7 units into a single handling unit (i.e. box) than to pack 7 boxes.
I do realise that the handling unit table VEKP can hold only 1 delivery object (i.e. VPOBJKEY), however I'm hoping that someone can highlight possible options for us to simplify our shipping process.

Dear RJ,
You may use WAVE concept in WM in order to accomplish the requirement.
A wave is group of deliveries that can be combined into one order based upon the customer number.
For example: If you have 10 different orders from customer XYZ and you may consolidate the all sales orders in one single order and then create a WAVE for that.

Handling unit materials stock overview

Hi experts
My Non-HU managed storage location - HU01 and HU-managed storage location is HU01.
I have packed one pump (available pumps: 10) with one carton (available cartons: 10).
After packing, I could see the stock overview (MMBE) of pump as follows:
HU01: 9 EA
HU02: 1EA
HOwever, my cartons stock overview is as follows:
HU01: 10EA
Since, the packed carton is along with HU, the stock overview of carton should be as like the motor. Please comment in this regard.

I have two questions about that:
1. What IS the next step? How can you decrease the amount of packaging material after a outbound delivery 'officially'?
2. Is there a possibility to do this step automatically? When I have a standard sales order the system makes me a 'Packing proposal' and prepares the Handling Units. When I then do the 'Outbound Delivery' the quantity of the goods sold decreases in stock but not the quantity of the packaging material.

Handling Unit: unable to pack the delivery

Dear Experts,
In a HU managed storage location, there is sales order stock for material A.
I want to post the sales order stock from sales order 1 item 10 to sales order 2 item 10, using movement type 413 E.
Then I got an outbound delivery (delivery type HTP, item category HSTP). I think I am supposed to pack this material before I could PGI.
But in the delivery (edit->pack) packing screen, I found I could NOT select/highlight the material A under field 'Material to be pack' at 'Pack material' tab. So I could not pack this material into the handling unit to finish to packing step.

Hi,
Please try using LQ02 for your posting, if its not posting directly then you can opt to move from Sales order stock to normal stock and then again moving it to the other sales order stock. I know for sure that using LQ02 you can post from sales order to normal stock but since I don't have my current system setup to test this so I cant confirm if It can be used to do transfer directly as well.
