Firefox has been asking everyday to update to the latest version. When I said ok it said that my Google bar wasn't compatible so I declined the update for weeks.

You seem to have Firefox 5.0 already installed and the Google toolbar will not work with that version or any future version of Firefox. Firefox 5.0.1 is the current version. Firefox 6 is scheduled to be released (replacing Firefox 5.0.1) on 08-16-2011 (subject to change).
Google decided that they will no longer produce the Google Toolbar for Firefox beyond Firefox 4. <u>Future versions of Google toolbar will only work with IE7-9. Google Toolbar is not available on any other browser, even Google's own browser.</u>

• Why, when I open Firefox 9.01 do I get a message that I do not have the latest version when Help-About Firefox says I do?

There are/were three problems:
1. Why, when I open Firefox 9.01 do I get a message that I do not have the latest version when Help>About Firefox says I do?
2. Also, with the 8.xx version, I was unable to open in a new window with a right click until I upgraded to 9.01. (Old problem now, but I am curious.)
3. When I tried to uninstall the older version the uninstaller told me that I had to close the open version, but it was closed according to my taskbar. I also have this problem with Thunderbird.

1. You are using the latest version which is Firefox 9.0.1
From your description it sounds as if you may still have the old http://www.google.com/firefox Firefox start page hosted by Google as your homepage. This old default homepage is no longer used as about:home has been in use since Firefox 4.0
Either ignore the message, change homepage to about:home, change it to another page or leave blank.

• How do I get rid of the notice that I need to update, when Firefox then tells me I have the latest version when I click the link to get the update?

This notice has been on the page under the Google box for the last few days. There is a link to click on to update. The next page says that I'm up to date but suggests downloading Android or offers a download of Firefox if I'd like one.

Thanks for the help. It's undoubtedly my error in not saying I'm a Mac user up front. I got there & chose return to default. Turns out that's where I have been all along. It's the Mozilla Firefox Start Page. But it includes this silly notice that I don't have the latest version of Firefox! Seems to me there's a bug (or whatever, I'm not real techy) in the basic design of the Firefox home page. Maybe it hasn't been updated for users of Lion?

• When i plugged in my phone to my iTunes after i got the update for ios 7 everything from my icloud got on my phone so i plugged it into my itunes to try and take everything off but its saying i need the latest version of itunes how do i do that ?

rigght after i got the ios 7 update i noticed everything from my icloud was on my phone i dont want all that stuff on here so i plugged it into my computer and its saying that i need the latest version of itunes i have downloaded it twice and i am still getting the same error message. So my question is how am i supposed to download the latest version of itunes if its not working. it says for a Windows computer the update is 11.0.5 but i need 11.1 what am i supposed to do ?

you dont need computer. go to settings > icloud and turn off what you dont want like photostream/calendars/contacts. for itunes 11.1 you need to go to itunes.com and download it then install it.

• Why does Firefox tell me that I don't have the latest version of Flash but Adobe tells me that I do?

Firefox keeps telling me that I have to upload a newer version of Adobe Flash. However, Adobe tells me that I have the latest version. Also, Google Chrome lets me see pages that Firefox will not load because it thinks I don't have the right version of Flash! Any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks in advance.

Which version of the Flash player do you have?

• I have tried to update Firefox for my Mac (OS 10.6.4 and 10.6.6) and it keeps asking do I want to remove the older version; when I say "yes" it tells me I do not have permissions even though I am the Admin.

I have tried changing the permissions for my hard drive/Account and all files below it but this prevented my Mac from starting; hence, I keep reinstalling the OSX (this is why I am currently on 10.6.4 instead of 10.6.6).
Additionally, even though I keep uninstalling Firefox (throw away the icon and get rid of "org....plist" (except in one user account in which I am not allowed to trash)) the icon always appears in my Dock when I startup (it is a icon with a slashed circle on top of it).

Try doing a clean install.
# Download the Firefox installer from http://www.mozilla.com
# Trash the current Firefox application
# Now try installing the new version of Firefox (Installing Firefox on Mac)
Doing the above will not remove your user data, that is stored elsewhere in the profile folder, though if you wish you can back that up first
If you are still having problems with privileges see troubleshooting permissions issues in Mac OS X

• Current iLife needs updating, but don't want to pay for the latest versions when I already have the actual application

I got a MacBook a couple of years a go and it was pre-downloaded with iLife 09.  I already downloaded the latest software (OS X Mountain Lion) and now I would like to update these to the most current versions out there (the ones in the Mac App Store) but I don't want to spend $15 per app when I already have the applications.  Is there a code that will allow me to just update the most current versions?  That would help most definetly.

No. There is no upgrade discount.

• Firefox has been terminated because it is deemed harmful by active virus control

My firefox worked perfectly well until today when i launched firefox and encountered this problem. When i start firefox, i get an error report that firefox has been terminated because it is deemed harmful by active virus control. Please i need a way around this situation since i really enjoy surfing the web with firefox

Possibly you have a genuine malware problem that is affecting firefox, or even causing spurious reports from your active virus control (what is that BTW part of bit Defender ? ) Are you using a different computer to post these messages now ?
You first of all need to find out exactly what active virus scan is warning you about, and if it is finding any other problems, that probably involves an update of active virus scan followed by a full scan of your computer.
If you consider removing and re-installing Firefox, consider copying the full profile first of all so that you may restore it without loss of personal information, but post back again once you have more information about exactly what your warnings relate to, they may even cease if you update your AV.

• Now that I was sent by Microsoft to your download update site to get the latest version 4.0.1, Firefox crashes (becomes non-responsive) before opening any site page I try. When will you fix this problem?

For two weeks I have tried to use your automatic download of the latest version 4.0.1. It would sit there telling me it is trying to connect to the download computer for hours, several times overnight. Then, it became non-responsive and error messages were sent to Microsoft who directed me to your download site. After downloading your latest version several times, the new page would open. After selecting a bookmarked site, it would open (sometimes only partially) but when I tried to scroll down, it would freeze up and become non-responsive, again prompting error messages to Microsoft. They must be getting a kick out of this. I'm running a Gateway 7200S desktop with Microsoft XP and Intel single range Pentium 4 processor. I have been using your Mozilla Firefox as my default browser for several years with much satisfaction. Unfortunately, whatever upgrades were made have rendered it useless for me.

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

• I am transfering my i-tunes library t a new pc the old has i-tunes 10.5 the new will be latest version of i-tunes. Jason said to update the old i-tunes before transfering files. Can I do it without the update?

I am transfering i-tunes 10.5 to a new pc. The new pc will have the latest version of i-tunes. Jason said to update the old file befor the transfer. But is it possinble to transfer my library without the update on the old pc?

Not a problem. You can migrate an iTunes library from any older version of iTunes into a computer running a newer version of iTunes. You don't need to try to update the old computer before making the move.

• Keep on getting an error when updating acrobat XI to the latest version, have uninstalled the product, re-installed it and the error is still popping up. Running Win 7 64bit

Sorry for the long description, have been trying to update my Acrobat Pro XI to the latest version, when using the update tool I get an error that suggests for me to uninstall Acrobat and reinstall it, have done that 2 times, don't want to do it again. Why am I having this issue? I used to have PDF pro and got rid of it in favor of Acrobat, now I am starting to think this was not such a good move...
Any ideas?
Thanks,

The uninstall is a last resort. Just download the update from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows and manually do the update. For AA XI, you can go directly to 11.0.07 (not the case for earlier versions). Be sure you are logged in as the administrator and have anti-virus disabled.

• Where can I find what the latest version of Firefox is?

I just want to know what the latest version of Firefox is. I'm not asking where I can download the latest version. In the past when I've gone to Firefox help and "About Firefox" It said I had the latest version when in fact I didn't. So I just want to know where I can go to find out what the latest version is. When I Google "What is the latest version of Firefox" it only tells me where to go for the download but not what the latest version is.
Thanks,
