Firefox is hanging very frequently, on all pages(infact, hung while typing this)-version is 6.02.

Have been having frequent hangups the last couple of weeks, on all pages. Started on Facebook with the app Bubble something(forgot the exact name since I have since deleted it).
I ran a full system scan(Norton 360 v 5)clean, deleted Firefox(6.02)from my system, and reinstalled it. The only software I've installed recently was RealPlayer, which I have uninstalled. Nothing seems to work.....in fact.,when I was typing the initial query, Firefox froze(it just did again!). Very annoying!
Any suggestions?

Malware does evolve, as do the countermeasures, it is worth trying more than one site/product to scan your machine, and considering asking questions on one of the specialist forums. Always of course try to scan with up-to-date software.
The link I posted earlier mentioning breakpad may help you determine whether Firefox did actually crash, and whether or not a crash report was submitted, the list of links in ''about:crashes'' are prefixed ''bp-'' if a crash report was submitted, and if you click the links Firefox will attempt to submit them. Your OS should also attempt to log crashes.
Are you still ok if you use Firefox in safe mode with all plugins disabled, if so that tends to indicate problems are caused by hardware acceleration or some plugin or other software extension to Firefox.
I know it is of no help to you to say Firefox including Firefox 6 works ok on my XP, but that does help to confirm the problem may not be an intrinsic problem in Firefox. Also although there are quite a few reports of hangs and crashes that is always likely to happen when there is a userbase of 100s of millions. Firefox is highly customisable, that is often seen as an advantage, but the downside is there are all sorts of possible combinations of additional factors needing to be taken into account when troubleshooting, and the reason for suggesting
* update all plugins and extensions
* update firefox itself
* try in safe mode
* disable or uninstall all plugins
* consider trying a beta, aurora, or even nightly channel to see if any recent changes to Firefox have resolved issues.

I have the exact same problem.
Not only does it load pages very slowly, sometimes the page will stop for a good 45 seconds and stop loading, only to finish it much later.
Something is wrong with Firefox 12, it shouldn't be this slow.
How is that each version is progressively worse than the one before it?.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

Firefox 10 Crashes occassionally when clicking on a picture on facebook that loads the new popup. Firefox just hangs and becomes unresponsive. Is there a fix for this?

When u click on a picture that loads the popup that Facebook has recently introduced on occasion Firefox just hangs and becomes unresponsive and has to be closed by using task manager. It doesn't happen every time say for every 2 out of 10.

Firefox 3.6.16 contained threat WS.Reputation.1 and lock up this version of the Browser. I had to use IE to download Firefox 4.0. Are you aware of this issue?

The auto update downloaded version 3.6.16, but it locked up my browser and I had to restart. Each time I tried to open my browser with this version, it locked up and I couldn't close it. I had to install FireFox 4.0 through Internet Explorer. My Norton's said I had picked up an infected file: C:\program files\Mozilla Firefox\plugin-container.exe. contained threat WS.Reputation.1.

I figured I'd comment on this because my family has been having this problem (I keep on saying "cancel" whenever it prompts me to download 3.6.16 because of it).
I did some research on the WS.Reputation.1 plugin-container.exe problem and found that it was happening last year with updates, too. To fix that problem, people took the quarantined file and restored it- I was hesitant to do this because I wasn't sure if it was a virus or not.
I took it out of quarantine on a family computer and right away firefox started working again. Again, I do NOT know if the file is a virus but by doing research I found that it is not, it is only recognized as such by Norton. This seems to be a recent problem and I don't want to take ownership for saying how I fixed the problem because, again, I do not know if WS.Reputation.1 is really a virus but all indications are that it is not. I hope this at least helps some of you. There have been no problems since I took it out of quarantine and restored it. Good luck everyone.

How can I stop firefox from hanging when I scroll a page?

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. I downloaded an update to Firefox last night, and now Firefox just hangs and won't connect. It started out okay this morning, but now it won't work at all.

Even with a brand new computer, Firefox frequently hangs and/or quits spontaneously. I downloaded the latest update last night, and it worked okay for about a half hour this morning, then quit.

Do you have Internet Security Software turned on in your Internet Explorer?
I turned mine off, as I have Norton AV. Go into Internet Explorer and check to see if you have that on and try turning that off...and then try to get back onto FF. You may have to restart your computer, I'm not sure, as I'm not a techie. I just know that the Internet Security Software clashed with my Norton AV.

Firefox 7 beta is not printing all pages

All is in question. I have found a page http://www.modssl.org/docs/2.8/ssl_reference.html which is around 20 pages. When I print it in firefox it prints only first 10 pages. in IE works fine. Firefox displays only 10 pages in the print preview as well so this is not a problem of printer. I am using firefox 7 beta, Winxp sp3.

I'm not sure why, but it seems to be related to the use of the <fieldset> tag around the content. Firefox apparently doesn't paginate that tag as expected.
To see how it would appear in print preview substituting a styled <div> tag, you could run the following snippet of script:
(1) Copy the following to the clipboard (it's all one line):

Firefox will not load pretty much all pages. Also I cannot get any add-ons. I made sure my firewall lets Firefox in. I just loaded it back on this computer, everything was fine before, now its crap.

So I was running Firefox before. and my girlfriend told me to try google chrome out. So after about a month of trying it out, I prefered Firefox, so I loaded it back on, and now I can't open any pages or get access to the add-ons. A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

There is no particular pattern of freezes. It may happen any time whether there are any number of active tabs 2,3,4 what ever. I didn't get signatures for some of my crash reports for the reason that the active cause of crash couldn't be identified. I have added some crash I.D's as well.

Recently, when I try to print from within Firefox (Mac 10.6), only the first page is properly formatted. This doesn't happen when using Safari.

I regularly print newspaper articles that I view in Firefox. Until recently, multi-page documents formatted beautifully. Now only the first page is properly formatted. The other pages are enlarged and shifted to cuttoff several lines of text at the top of the page.

Once you set that preference it should hold that setting. You could try 125% but it might clip the right-side of the page.

You may see that message below the Google search box on www.google.com/firefox which is the old Firefox default home page. That page is no longer being maintained by Google.
You should try changing your home page to:
about:home
If you don't know how to change the home page, you should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]].
