Firefox keeps adding a proxy.

I use no proxy but when I run the program "Hide My IP" Firefox detects the changed IP address and changes the Proxy settings. How can I get Firefox to keep the "No Proxy" setting?

If you run a program or install an extension that changes the connection settings to use a proxy then you can't expect otherwise.<br />
If you want to revert to No Proxy if you start Firefox then you can create a file user.js or add lines to an existing user.js to set the connection setting to No Proxy.

  • Firefox keep asking for proxy moz-proxy username and password

Windows 7, latest firefox. When I go to certain websites (like amazon.com), it keeps asking me The proxy moz-proxy:... user name and password. Entered CORRECT username and password and doesn't work. Keep asking again and again until I click cancel. Quite for couple of minutes and then back again. Not all sites, some sites have no problem at all. Using system proxy.
Tried reset firefox and lots of config setting on the web, nothing works. Can someone help?!
    Thanks.

  • Firefox keeps setting a proxy by itself

every time i open firefox it has a error and says proxy server is not excepting connection and each time i have to go to options and change it back to no proxy to be used because i dont use a poxy to connect

Try using the Options 2,3 in the Network Settings..
Check and tell if its working.

  • Firefox keeps requesting logon credentials for the proxy server, though they are eneterd in the connection settings.

Every time you go to a new page, Firefox prompts for the proxy server login credentials, this has already been entered in the Network settings in Firefox.

    Hi thefrostycat,
It could also be the proxy set up on the network. There is an app for proxy settings: [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lechucksoftware.proxy.proxysettings on the play store] as well as an add on [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/proxy-selector/?src=search Proxy Selector]
Android troubleshooting for GSM device(I do not know if your nexus is, most likely it is not): Access Point Name (APN). Go to Settings > Wireless and Networks > More > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names > [Your data APN] (your device's menu may differ slightly). Check the Proxy field.

  • Firefox keeps opening things in new windows

Every time I click to open something in a new tab, it opens in a new window instead. I checked to see if I'd accidentally changed my options to make things open in new windows instead of tabs, but I hadn't. Also, every time I start Firefox, three windows pop up instead of just one. They seem like little things, but it's really irritating.

    Hi Fantasmically,
You might want to take a look at [[Firefox keeps opening many tabs or windows]]. It seems to be spot on for the issue you are describing.
You might also want to try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.
    Hopefully this helps!

  • Firefox keeps freezing and using 50% cpu and memory usage shoots up most of the time it's when there's an auto update of anything addon, plugin or ff!

Firefox keeps freezing and using 50% cpu and memory usage shoots up real fast and carries on going till it uses up all there is left. Most of the time it's when there's an auto update of anything addon, plugin or ff but not just neccessarily then! I find out it's happened when there's been an update after i restart and an extra webpage comes up with the particular addon/plugin/ff update. I have to restart most of time because nothing sorts it out. I'm using windows xp with the latest update of ff 13.0.1 it's not this version because it's been happening for a while. And it never started when i added a particular addon or plugin or when i added a new app to my pc either. Any idea as to what this may be or how i'd sort it out?
    Cheers

Maybe disable hardware acceleration? This article should help: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-uses-too-much-memory-ram

  • Firefox keeps asking to authenticate to kerebos even though it is no longer

firefox keeps asking to authenticate to kerebos even though it is no longer using the xserve as a proxy, do i have to reset something in firefox or delete something so it works with a new windows proxy? can't seem to get past this as i can't authenticate as it is no longer using that proxy, so just keeps popping up all the time with cannot contact any kdc for requested realm . There must be a way to reset firefox to not look for kerebos? any ideas would be greatly appreciated?

    Hi
When the Kerberos login window appears just click cancel. Firefox should then use the next authentication mechanism it can or it won't bother if that's all there was. You can 'reset' Firefox by removing the Firefox folder from /Users/home/Library/Application Support. Relaunch the application afterwards.
Don't trash the moved folder as you may want to reinstate the Bookmarks.html? If you do it should be fairly obvious to you as to what you need to do. If you don't want the bookmarks trash the folder.

  • Firefox keeps switching into Safe Mode, necessitating restart

Firefox keeps switching into Safe Mode, necessitating Mac restart to get my extensions back. I'm fed up! -- I keep having to shut down umpteen apps to restart.

Can you give a description of what you call "Safe Mode" From my reading, the "Safe Mode" is something added on by a specific tool used to Jailbreak an iPhone. Unless you are talking about something different.

    Hello Deb,
Something fishy going on with those particular files. But without looking at them directly I couldn't say what. Usually in a case like this the problem is some of the metadata that is attached to the file. Where did these files come from? A camera, a scanner, the internet?
An explanation about the Watched Folder function: It looks for changes to a folder, not just automatically grabbing whatever files are in it. Generally, you want to select an empty folder as a Watch Folder. Once this has been set up, as you add files to this folder they will be imported into the Organizer. If you start with a folder full of images, those will be ignored, any new items will be added.

  • Visual Studio keeps adding SharePoint features when opening a solution

    Hello everybody.
I'm facing a rather naughty problem. In a Windows 2012 environment (hosted inside an Azure virtual machine), with SharePoint installed, I created a VS SharePoint on-premise solution. I added a feature, and started adding lists, libraries, site columns, layout
pages and such. At one point, every time I added a new list definition, the VS would create me a new feature. Which is not what I wanted, so I manually deleted the new feature and added the list to the first feature. No matter how much I try, VS keeps adding
features instead of using the one I already got.
But that's a minor problem. After a while of adding lists, I did a check in to my TFS and closed the VS. After a couple of days, I open the VS again, and without a warning VS checked out the solution, checked out my only feature, removed the lists from it
and created one feature for each library. I ended up with feature2.feature, feature3.feature, ..., feature50.feature files!!! Insane!!! I had to manually delete them and re-add them to my first feature.
Now I can't turn VS off without having this mess all over again. Why on Earth would somebody program VS to do this? Is there any way to turn this behaviour off?
    Thanks in advance!
[Edit] Forgot to mention that I'm working with Visual Studio 2013.

    Hi Fernando,
Thank you for posting in MSND forum.
Based on your issue, could you please tell me what template sharepoint project you create in VS2013?
In addition, I find a similar thread about your issue, please refer the Xiaoying’s reply to check this issue.
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/25857722/visual-studio-unexpectedly-adding-feature-on-load
Or you could try to download a new sharepoint template in this VS2013 and then create it check if you still get the issue.
I suggest you could try to create a same sharepoint project template from VS2013 on another machine and then check this issue again.
If you have any update message, please feel free to let me know.

When logging in into yahoo mail after typing in password Firefox is adding something, probably remembered password and login fails all the time. At yahoo mail Notepad does not work because it is impossible to close the list of items and they cover information, so I have to go to IE.

Only when i go to a different browser (like IE) after i clear it , then all that shows up is the pages i visited in IE , that is what bugs me , why is IE browsing history sowing up in Firefox ??
Basically , i can clear the history in Firefox , and then for a example , go to Craigslist , using IE7 (launching it from a complete different Icon , in other words at that time i never open Firefox) , then after closing out , or even leaving open as it does not seem to matter , i go into Firefox , and hit History , and there is every place i visited in IE7 , on my History in Firefox

  • Firefox is adding a .part extension to my downloads and they won't open. Why?? Fix???

When I download a file, Firefox does 2 things: changes the file name to gobbledy-gook of letters and numbers, AND, adds a .part extension -- therefore the files won't open. This is a NEW problem. If I manually remove the .part extension in the download folder, the file will open, but I still have the problem of the name change. I believe that the .part extension is supposed to go away when the download is finished, but that does not happen. Also, my downloads always used to come with their original name, not a numbers/letters name. Thoughts?

Hi Mitchina, which problem do you have -- the .part file not being renamed to the final correct name, or a different problem?
Did you try turning off the scanWhenDone setting? For clarity, here are the steps in full:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''scan''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click '''browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone''' to toggle its value from true to false.
''What this does: Normally Firefox submits the file to your AV software for an on-demand scan. Toggling this setting turns that off. It also prevents Firefox from adding a notation to the file that the source of the file was the internet. That may change how Windows treats the file. You should turn your real-time AV scanning back on when you have this feature turned off.''
If that doesn't help, there could be a permissions problem with the download folder, or another issue that doesn't come immediately to mind, but we need more information from you.

  • Firefox keeps freezing with new tab even in safe mode

Firefox keeps freezing, so there's no chance of even a crash report, I can only get out via TaskManager/End process. I usually have dict and thesaurus open while writing, usually with second tab my browser is a still.
It's very annoying as it's also stuck on my screen for a while so I can't continue to work.
I really need that to work or I have to switch to a different browser!
    Thank you.

  • When I want to mail a web-page or link firefox keeps opening new windows and cannot be stopped.

My laptop is a Samsung R730 (quite happy with it). I use Eudora for e-mailing. If I want to mail a web-page or link and click under 'file'to send it, Firefox starts opening new tabs without stopping up to over a hundred. I have to brutally switch off my lap-top, start agaiu. Restart Firefox which wants to open all the old tabs, click it off quickly. After that I can reopen to normal.

You get that problem if you select the Firefox program to handle a file if you get an "open with" dialog.
