  • Safari displays my photos in my Wordpress blog incorrectly

Safari does not display images on my blog properly on my iMac 24". However, Firefox does display it correctly.
But on my wife's MacBook it looks fine. So this leads me to believe it is Safari on my iMac. I've reset Safari several times an it did nothing to improve the display of the images.
Anybody have any suggestions? Reinstall Safari perhaps?

    HI Glenn,
Go to Safari / Preferences. Make note of the preferences under each tab then delete this file.
    com.apple.Safari.plist
~/Library/Preferences. Move that file to the Trash and restart your Mac.
Also, go to Safari / Preferences - Appearance. Make sure: Display images when the page opens
    is selected.

  • Why does firefox call IP 208.53.130.221 on startup? Even with blank page? And keeps trying the same address even after is shut down? No other browsers does it!

I can see it via my firewall log; checked for malware, nothing found. It's like Firefox is trying to report somewhere, and it's always the same IP address. I even stopped using firefox all together. Opera doesn't display the same problem, neither does the IE, so this is firefox related.
Even though I have 3.5.2 now, this is a roll back from the later version - I thought it might be related to later updates, but no, 3.5.2 does the same thing.

It's the forums that make the image tiny, if you do a right-click > copy shortcut, you can then paste it into a new tab, which will let you see the full size image. It's a 3360x1050 image, maybe a bit big for the forums.
Basically though, the left image is IE, and that shows an error box. The centre image is Opera, and that shows an empty screen. The right image is FF, and that is how it should look.
If it's a machine specific error, then I can't work out why it is on several machines in my house... very odd.

  • With upgrade to Firefox 3.6.10, Windows XP slow to boot & browsers even slower to become available. Not sure the problem is Firefox, but everything was fine until the latest automatic upgrade to 3.6.10.

This just happened again for perhaps the third time.

The Firefox 3.6.24 version is the latest version of the 3.6.x branch, so do not install an older version.

Firefox 4 and later require at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

For an unofficial Firefox 8 compatible version (TenFourFox) that runs on PowerPC Macs with OS X 10.4.11 or OS X 10.5.8 you can look at:

  • I'm running 10.6.8 on Mac and Firefox 28. Most embedded videos on random sites and all on Upworthy and Youtube show as a black box. I've deleted cookies and

I've deleted cache and cookies. I've seen all the real player threads (isn't that Windows, anyway?) and they didn't help.
I'm running the most updated java and quicktime I can. I ran FIrefox in safe mode. I reset it and added back quick time, silverlight, java, shockwave, flipformac, and adblock plus. No difference with them disabled.
Is this because I'm on a 32 bit processor? I can use chrome for some sites to see videos. Safari is a disaster, don't even get me started. I'm trying to hang on until I upgrade but find I can see hardly any videos anymore. I love firefox and want to keep using it. Thanks!

There have been issues reported with the 13.0.0.182 version of the Flash plugin crashing on some older Mac computers due to the compiler generating incompatible code.
The only way to recover is to uninstall the Flash 13 version and revert to an older Flash version and wait for Adobe to release an update that addresses this issue.

You can either install the latest Flash 11.7 version that has the latest security updates (may not work with Safari) or the last Flash 12 version that didn't get the security updates Flash 13 has.

  • Why does watching YouTube videos in Firefox cause my video driver to crash, but I can watch the same video in IE8 without a problem?

For the past few days, I suddenly can't watch any YouTube videos in Firefox without having the video driver crash every few seconds. The screen freezes too, and I have a hard time getting my cursor to the "X" to close the tab. One time it was so bad my computer crashed and rebooted.
I am able to watch the same videos in Internet Explorer 8 without any problems. I am also able, as far as I know, to watch videos in Firefox on other sites like CNN.com without any problems.
My computer information below looks correct. It's a Gateway Model#MX6453, my video driver is an ATI Radeon Xpress 1150.

I fixed this by disabling hardware acceleration. YouTube videos seem to work fine now.
This link was provided in an other YouTube problem: Flash "Display settings" window:
I had to go to a site other than YouTube that had flash content (like a video on CNN.com), right-clicked on the flash video, selected "Settings" on the menu, then unchecked "Enable hardware acceleration" on the display tab. For good measure I closed Firefox and opened it again. Since then no more driver errors. (crosses fingers)

  • Having lagging problems with YouTube videos, it simply takes so long for the red bar to completely load and the videos frequently pause and take too long to restart playing again.

I have been having lagging problems with YouTube videos for a number of months now. It simply takes so long for the red bar to completely load and the videos frequently pause and take too long to restart playing again. Even with little 2 and 3 minute videos.
I have a fast computer and my webpages load really, really fast. I have FireFox 4 browser and a Vista Home Premium 64-bit OS. So I don't have a slow computer or web browser. But these slow YouTube vids take way too long to load for some reason.
Does anyone have any idea how I can speed up YouTube?

    Hi
The forums are customer to customer in the first instance, Only the mods (BT) will ask for personal information through a email link. Would you mind posting your Hub stats & BT speed test results this will help all with diagnosis-
To post the full stats from your router
    for home hub - 192.168.1.254
Navigate to ADSL Settings or use the A-Z at the top right
Click on More Details and then post the results.
Run BT speed tester and post the results from http://speedtester.bt.com/
If possible it would be best to connect to the BT master socket this will rule out any telephone/broadband extension wiring also consider the housing of the hub/router as anything electrical can cause problems as these are your responsibility, if these are found to be the case Openreach (engineer) will charge BT Broadband, which will be passed onto you, around £130.00.
Noisy line! When making telephone calls, if so this is not good for your broadband, you can check-
Quite line test dial 17070 option 2 and listen - should hear nothing best done with old type analogue phone digital (dect) will do but may have slight hiss If you hear noise- crackling pops etc, report it as a noisy line on your phone, don’t mention broadband, Bt Faults on 151.
As for your FTTC its available in some areas between 40% & 80% of customers in enabled areas can receive it!

  • IPad 3-Audio no longer working Embedded videos

Recently, I have run into the problem of embedded videos playing with no sound.  For example, if I click on a video link to YouTube  in Facebook the video plays silently.  However, the same video will play properly if I open it in a browser.  I'm not sure, but I think this began happening before the latest operating system update.  BTW, other sounds have randomly been disappearing too like the click when the cover closes.

do a reset all settings [settings/general/reset/reset all settings] no data will be lost
if that doesnt work then a Restore is in order
    good luck !

  • How can I download a 18 minute video I recorded from my iPad to either email or youtube or vimeo I keep getting the message the file is too long.

How can I transfer a 18 minute video I recorded on my iPad camera app to email/youtube or vimeo? I keep getting the message the file is too long do want to send clips?
    Thanks

Youtube usually had an 8 minute length cap, which may be part of your issue. Also at 18 minutes that is probably a gig+ file size, which will also take a long time to upload and may be another part of the issue.
Edit it down as jim suggested. Or you may need to use something like dropbox, to get it off your ipad and onto a computer where might have more options to edit it down or size it down.
If it's just file size you can transcode it into a smaller file - a lower quality MP4 for example. If it's the length that's an issue for youtube, you'll need to break it up into a couple different files and upload part 1 and part 2

  • Flash media (youtube, video, etc) won't play when using Apple TV Airplay Display

I have a new Apple Tv. I have connected it to my tv and am using the tv as a second display from my iMac. The display works just fine, but if I try and play any flash based media, say a Youtube video, on my iMac while Airplay is on, it won't play.
Mind you, it isn't that I am not getting audio, it just won't play the video at all. I can even see the progress bar load fully, but it doesn't begin playing.
The second I turn Airplay off, the video will play.
This also happens with sites such as Soundcloud, and Tumblr audio posts.
    Any ideas?

I connect to Airplay Display, I select apple tv, and either mirror display or extended desktop. Doesn't matter which, both have the problem.
Then, on my imac I try to play a video and it does not work. I can even hit play on a video, let it go, and THEN turn on Airplay and it will stop playing as soon as I do.

  • I am not able to play any youtube video on Firefox, while the same video plays on IE and Chrome.

FireFox was playing youtube videos with no issues until yesterday. Suddenly none of the youtube videos are paying on FireFox. The error message is "An error has occurred. Please try again later"
    I tried the following
    1. Uninstall and Reinstall Firefox
    2. Uninstall and Reinstall Flash
    3. Restart my laptop
No luck with anything. The same videos play fine on IE and Chrome.

    Hi mje397,
Sorry for the delay. I have been investigating this and it may have to do with saved preferences on the computer. If you right click and select "Global Settings" remove stored preferences. I could not find any outage notifications for Youtube.
Also disable Flash and try the HTML5 player just in case this is a plug in issue. This can happen specifically when there are network issues or there are changes being made to the videos on the hosted site.
Please post back with your results, it could help other users!

  • When upgrading Flash 10.2 (Firefox at Version 3.6.14) Any Browser embedded videos run in a split screen (the same video in one screen only dual). Doesn't happen in IE. To fix I did a system rollback.

When upgrading to Flash 10.2 (Firefox is at Ver. 3.6.14, Windows XP), any embedded videos run like a split screen (The same video in one screen, dividing the screen into two running at the same time). This doesn't happen in IE.
