Firefox reads link incorrectly

I have a problem similar to this closed thread (http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/857056#answer-224505) where Firefox couldn't handle backslashes in the link to a pdf file.
On a website (that you won't be able to access) there is a link to a pdf file. When I click on the link I get the error "The system cannot find the file specified", but it works in IE and Chrome.
When I copy the link address, Firefox copies:
http://webserver1a.charlottechristian.com/NetClassroom7/Forms/%5C%5Clsserver3.charlottechristian.com/ClassDocuments/9934/Honors%20Physics%20Notebook%202012-13.pdf
The %5C are backslashes. The other browsers only copy what is after the backslashes. They start with the lserver3.
Possibly the site is not designed well, but I have no control over that.
Why would the other browsers copy and go to the link correctly, but Firefox not. I did try refreshing the cache and the slashy add-on mentioned in the other thread, and I tried in in safe mode.

Firefox sees such a link as a relative link and prefixes them with the path of the current web page.<br />
*\\lsserver3.charlottechristian<i></i>.com/ClassDocuments/9934/Honors Physics Notebook 2012-13.pdf
So it looks that the link to the PDF file is on the http://webserver1a.charlottechristian.com/NetClassroom7/Forms/ page.
Visitors can use an extension use a bookmarklet to fix this issue, but you need to change the %5C backslashes (\) to forward slashes in all links to make it work in Firefox.

  • Hyperlinks in PDF linking incorrectly

I created a document in InDesign (CS4) with hyperlinks. When I test them in the document from the Hyperlinks panel, they all work great. After I have converted it into a PDF, some of the links are linking incorrectly. In the document, the name of the web page is the hyperlinked text, but it's followed by a colon. The hyperlinks I set up and have tested repeatedly don't have the colon at the end, but when I convert to a PDF, the link picks up the colon and therefore links incorrectly. What am I doing wrong?
I attached the PDF version just in case anyone wants to see it. I think probably all the links are picking up the colon but only two of them link to a website that isn't automatically redirecting to the correct webpage.

    Yes, the FTP will work.
The FTP is a "file transfer protocal". It is your upload process.
So, for example, the URL for the FTP :
    ftp://yoursite.com/mothership.pdf
That would become for the InDesign hyperlink:
    http://yoursite.com/mothership.pdf
    The important change is:
    "ftp://"
    to
    "http://"
After the FTP is complete: whether you copy the URL or re-type it for the hyperlink, make sure you change "ftp" to "http".

  • Hi. Whenever I go through one of the menus in firefox, the links remain highlighted after my mouse passes over them. Is there a bug fix for this or is there something wrong with my computer? I am running windows 7 if that helps.

Hi. Whenever I go through one of the menus in firefox, the links remain highlighted after my mouse passes over them. Is there a bug fix for this or is there something wrong with my computer? I am running windows 7 if that helps. This problem started ever since I upgraded to version 5.

I have downloaded and used the iPod Reset Utility, alot that did. My current state is iTunes on my XP Home with SP3 sees the iPod. When I drag a song to the iPod, the Sync message appears for about 5 minutes, then the Apple symbol appears. But no song has been transferred to the iPod.
I tried to tap into the XP iTunes database from my iBook, but although it acted like it would add the XP library to the iBook library, it did not. I've got 19 Gs of songs on the XP. If I have to load each song from its original CD to get it on my iBook I'm going to start looking for some other app or device so that I can listen to my music.
It is a shame, in the old days, Apple techs use to look at what was going on, now it appears they don't, so they never know they have problems until Apple's profits fall.

  • Firefox hangs, links don't click through, delayed response on some links

Firefox hangs, links don't click through, looong delays on some links

i have been using firefox for many years but now Im getting fed up with pages hanging.. it happens when the page is flash enabled.
i tried ie and chrome and both work properly - I just dont like them.. please fix this!
running win7 on a HP 4310s laptop brand new with all updates installed... my extensions are flashgot, xmarks, image toolbar, java, office, acrobat reader.
I tried safe-mode and it still hangs!
I also noticed that when I have two tabs open or more and I try to close firefox from task manager it will un-hang but only for a while - I cancel the closing and continue using the browser as normal... if during this time I navigate away from the flash enabled page then it continues normally. If I stay on the flash enabled page or open a new one it hangs again shortly after.

  • 64-bit Firefox Toolbars Painted Incorrectly (Messed Up Rendering)

The toolbars of the 64-bit version of firefox are pixellated and incorrectly painted. 32-bit version is fine.
    Here's a screenshot:
    [http://i.imgur.com/gI0mP.png Screenshot]
(This happens on ''all'' themes; it has nothing to do with my particular visual style in Windows. Also, this is ''without'' hardware rendering.)

I misunderstood you. No, I do not have the Flash plugin at all. My problem is that Firefox and Adobe are confused about which version is the correct one for me...
Firefox's Plugin Finder Service :- Attempts to assist me in installing 11.1.102.62, which fails because Adobe doesn't provide it.
helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html :- Lists 11.1.102.62 as the current player for Windows.
www.adobe.com/software/flash/about :- Lists 11.1.102.63 as the correct player for "Windows Firefox".
get.adobe.com/flashplayer :- Automatically provides a download of 11.1.102.63, stating that this is the one for "Windows 64-bit, English, Firefox".

  • With FF15 on Win7, when I click a Google Reader link (that open in a new tab when clicked, target="_blank" style), the new tab opens for a second, then closes.

The tab will not crash if I right-click, open in new tab, or middle click. Other sites with target="_blank" seem to be ok with left click (Google+ links for example). But Google Reader links seem to be completely broken.

Seems to be an adblock plus issue in my case. When I disable adblock it never happens. When I enable it this occurs on most links on google, twitter or reddit. Somehow seems them as pop ups I guess. Probably will have to fiddle with adblock plus.

  • Error 7 occurred at ABAPI Dist Report Read Link Info Error.vi - [.....] - RTBUIP_Build_Invoke.vi.ProxyCaller

    Hi all,
I am on a field campaign with my Labview-controlled instrument. I wanted to make a small change to the code and build it again for uploading to a cFP-2020 Fieldpoint but the application builder stopped with the following error message:
Error 7 occurred at ABAPI Dist Report Read Link Info Error.vi -> ABAPI Dist Cmp Settings to Disk Hier.vi -> ABAPI Get Settings From File2.vi -> ABAPI Get Settings From File.vi -> RTBEP_Invoke_Build_Engine.vi -> RTBUIP_Build_Invoke.vi -> RTBUIP_Build_Invoke.vi.ProxyCaller
This is another computer than the one I used in the lab previously so might have forgotten to install something. I just copied the whole application folder with project file and subfolders
to the Laptop I am using now. Labview version should be the same though (8.20).
    Any suggestions?
    Olaf

    Hello Olaf,
This error is usually found when a subVI or a support file (DLL, custom control, etc)
isn't able to be found by the application builder.  Possible reasons
for this could include subVIs no longer located in their original
paths and in need to be relinked, a DLL that isn't included in the build,
    and many other possibilities.
You wrote that you copied the project from another PC, so it is very possible that some file went missing. Are all VIs in your project executable?
You could try to mass compile all the VIs in your project and see if that helps.

  • How do I save a PDF in Adobe so it displays correctly in the default Firefox reader?

I have seen discussions on how to change your own settings in Firefox so PDFs display correctly (Viewing PDF documents in Firefox 19+) however I am looking for a solution on how to save PDFs so they display correctly within the default new Firefox reader. Our PDFs are looking bad and I can't go into each clients browser settings and fix (http://www.cherrybekaertbenefits.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/ACA_Infographic_072114.pdf). Are their any settings within the Acrobat Distiller that will fix this without the viewer having to go into their own settings?

    Hmm, not a subtle difference.
We haven't had many PDF experts or Adobe Illustrator users posting tips here; those might be sprinkled around on other forums, blogs, or support sites.
I did notice when viewing the PDF properties in Adobe Reader that the PDF was created with Optimize for Fast Web View enabled. This is a feature that allows for progressive rendering of PDFs over a slow connection ([http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/optimize-native-pdf-file-sizes.html#main_Optimize_for_Fast_Web_View_option]). Could you try re-generating the PDF with that feature disabled to see whether it makes a difference?

  • How do i delete Reader Links in Safari iPad

how do i delete Reader Links in Safari iPad?
    What I have done:
select a Link in the Reader Links Menu.
    Swipe across the link
    a Red DELETE button appears
    I press the DELETE Button
Nothing Happens (including no error message)!!
    Can you help please?

Mine appears to work. Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data (Clear Cache on iOS 4) and also Clear History
If that doesn't fix it then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • How to read link or bookmark action?

    Hello,
I use the Acrobat 8 software and I'm trying to developp a function to extract the properties of the link object.
Do you have an idea to read link action with VB code from a pdf file?
    Kind regards
    David G

You would have to write a plug-in in C or C++ to do this. Detailed
study of the PDF Reference is needed to see the many different kinds
of actions possible, some of which almost defy analysis.

  • Since the latest update of 3.5.11, firefox opens links in a new window. it used to open links in a new tab. how can i fix that?

since the latest update of 3.5.11, firefox opens links in a new window. it used to open links in a new tab. how can i fix that?

The setting in "Tools > Options > Tabs" only works for links that would open in a new window.<br />
That option allow you to divert such calls to a new tab.<br />
For other links you either have to use a middle click or a Ctrl + left click or use the context menu.

  • How can I view the Firefox Reading List?

I am running Firefox on Android 2.3.4. I am reading about the Firefox "Reader Mode" [1], which states:
"By tapping the readinglist1 icon, you can add the current page to your reading list (a special folder in your bookmarks list)"
"Note: The reading list folder will not be shown until the first item is added to the list. If all the items in the list are removed, the reading list will be hidden again."
Once I add the current page to my reading list, the screen changes and I am presented with different navigation controls. From here, the documentation says that:
"By tapping the readinglist2 icon, you can display the reading list. "
I have several items in my Reading List. However, I can only see the 'readinglist2' icon when I am viewing a page which has been converted to the Reader Mode. If I browse my bookmarks I do not see a folder for the reading list.
How can I view the items which I added to my "Reading List"?

You can open any chrome file in Firefox via the location bar, provided you know the path.<br />
XML (XUL) files need a view-source: prefix.
    chrome://browser/skin/browser.css

  • Firefox Reader Update does not install older vulnerable version 10.1.13.16

This has been a problem for at least a month
In Firefox,  when checking to see if plugins are up-to-date, Reader attempts to correct the problem by bringing up the download page, etc.
but it has installed the new version but not removed the older older vulnerable version 10.1.13.16 !

What new version has it installed? If it is 11.x you can have both 10.x and 11.x installed, and can choose to uninstall. Is it definitely the Adobe download page which comes up, there have been reports of scams and I haven't heard of this (but don't use FireFox).
