Firefox recently became unable to handle a number of tasks in Facebook. I understand there are a lot of compatibilty issues, but this is a sudden and dramatic change within the last 3-4 days.

Examples - no longer able to access "older posts" - it simply jumps back to the top of the page - works fine in Explorer.
Can't retrieve game gifts - works fine in Explorer.
Can't post a new status message - works fine in Explorer.
Can't send game gifts - works fine in Explorer.
All of these things worked perfectly well a few days ago. I haven't been able to find a way to bring Facebook's attention to the matter, so I am approaching from the other direction. I'd really rather not be required to use Explorer to look at Facebook....
I believe I have the latest version of Flash, but am about to double check - wanted to go ahead and post this before I have to close Firefox for the install. Still, that should not be affecting the news feed or my ability to post messages, should it?

Well, call me dumb. Reinstalled Flash, and somehow that appears to have fixed the problem with facebook... Sorry for taking up the band width...

The application was created by someone in my school district, and they built it for use in Internet Explorer. Firefox is crashing repeatedly upon opening. There are a 3 different signature reasons, but this is the most common: Signature: memmove | nsCacheMetaData::SetElement(char const*, char const*)

This started yesterday afternoon, where Firefox crashes immediately upon opening. I do have a lot of tabs that open upon start (this is done with the "Morning Coffee" add-on), but this has never been a problem before. This morning, I had 5 separate crashes, all in a row:

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Never had a firefox issue since i built my PC a year ago. for the last while as i can tell from my "about:crashes" i have been gettings tons of crashes

not much details to add. there seems to be no consistency to my crashing. seemingly random. the only consistent part is that when i crash once i have a good chance of crashing again soon. looking at my about:crashes, i see that i crashed a lot in november, and december.. but in may the number is really high. here's the full list - sorry the formatting sucks but i can't seem to format it well in your little text box thing here.

I'm not sure what you mean. I included the full list of crash IDs in my about:crashes page. The top ones are all recent, there are 14 crashes in May (this month) total, and just today there are 4 (which prompted me to make this post).
As for new profile do you mean a different Windows account? I only use one. Also, I use Google Chrome as well as Firefox often, and only Firefox seems to be having this issue. Sometimes when I am just reading a plain text page, with my hands not even on the keyboard or mouse. It's very strange and starting to get annoying.

I would use a two-step approach:
(1) Set date to the first of day of month (e.g. 20080201 = 01.02.2008)
(2) Subtract four working days from this date
If I remember correctly there is a function group BKK available which contains fm's for adding workdays to a given date (search for 'BKKWORKDAY). To subtract a number of working days use a negative number.

I used the option to restore from the external backup driveand went back some time as it was my intention to reinstall individualcomponent in an attempt to find out where the problem might lie. This hasintroduced an entirely new problem! If I open Time Machine from the desktop itappears that all backups from late 2009 to June 2011 are intact. But, in thiscase there are none of the restore functions &c on screen. The latter areonly shown if Time Machine is opened from the menu bar or from the dock but, inthis case, available are only backups in late 2009!
I also opened the Apple Hardware Test in an attempt toestablish the nature of the problem. The ‘quick’ version said there’s nothingwrong; the more detailed one reported “Error detected, 4HD/11/40000004.” I haveagain tried to employ this test but nothing I do can induce it to open!!!
What to do? I need help urgently and would appreciate anyadvice that offers solutions to the problem.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Now empty the Safari cache.
Back to the menu bar, click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Quit and relaunch Safari then try Facebook.
If that doesn't help, it may be a Safari extension preventing you from uploading content to Facebook.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

This is exactly what keeps happening to mine too. I was at a conference taking notes, and I was
using the Notebook template, and doing some audio recording simultaneously. About 3 hours into the conference (not consistently recording, but on and off with the sessions) my file wouldn't save anymore, saying something like "File cannot be modified while in use with another program" and "Invalid file name" when I would go back into my folder to look for it). I tried installing some updates from Microsoft, and when I restarted, I was at least able to open my old notes again, and so far it looks like the audio was working. However, today at the conference, the same thing happened again, but I wasn't actively recording any audio (though after I had copy and pasted my second file of notes into the original, I went back to using it after re-naming it).
Does the crash happen to you under similar cirucumstances? The update might help a little, but it is definitely not the solution. Does anyone have any solutions? Lion shouldn't be this buggy... I moved to Mac to get away from the garbage of bugs and compatibility issues...

observed on:
- Windows 7 x64 machine with 12GB RAM and high-performance CPU (core i7-920)
- Virtual Machine guest running WinXP SP3 (in Oracle VirtualBox) on the same machine
- Intel Atom D525 netbook with 4GB RAM, running Win7 x64
Neither of these machines are connected via Sync or anything like that. The Firefox instance on the VM is a fresh/clean install.
The problem:
- 100% cpu usage for 10 seconds, memory usage (PF usage in XP) goes up to 1.7GB
- if "about:home" is the Firefox Start Page, effectively it hangs the computer at Firefox startup for 10 seconds
- if "about:home" is NOT the Firefox Start Page, startup is fine - BUT if I press the "home" button on the toolbar it loads "about:home" which causes the same issue again

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
If that fails:
Restore from your back up, repair the Library and try again.
