Firefox seems to prevent me from clicking on a link to execute a program named Simple Family Tree.exe

The code in BOLD TYPE below is what I am trying to use to make it work – what errors do I have?

The wiki-based forum syntax doesn't translate HTML code very well, so your question is hard to follow.
I see you have some feedback here: [http://forums.adobe.com/message/5974207?tstart=0 Adobe Community: What html code will start an EXE (program) with a click on a webpage link?]
Regarding your effort to break out of Firefox's security limitations, the enablePrivilege() method has been removed or deactivated. Please disregard any code examples from past years that used enablePrivilege() as those will no longer work.

    * You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.

If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

  • My Lightroom has a strange overlay that prevents me from clicking in certain areas

OK....so I have this odd overylay in Lightroom 5 that is invisible and prevents me from clicking on anything beneath it. I have noticed it on and off for a while now....but tonight I found out the overlay is editable and I have managed to get it MOSTLY out of the way. However, I would ideally like it gone....and it would be kind of interesting to know what it is in the first place??
Anyone else had this issue...or am I alone?
I have made a Youtube video to show you what I mean....please watch in HD to see the finer detail of what I am showing.
    All the best.

Yep...it is the adjustment brush that I am trying to use. I fully know how to work LR.... as you can see from the video, the there is some sort of overlay preventing me from using the adjustment brush correctly.

  • After updating to Firefox 3.6.9, when I click on a link in Outlook email, I get a message which says "General failure. The URL was: .... An error occurred in sending the command to the applicatio." and the link will not open. How can I fix this?

I updated Firefox yesterday to 3.6.9. When I receive a URL link in an email within Outlook, I cannot open the link in Firefox. As I said in the question, when I click on the link, a Microsoft Office Outlook error message appears which states that a General failure has occurred in sending the command to the application (which is Firefox). I am using Office 2007 This did not occur prior to the upgrade of Firefox.

See this lnk for a fix, it worked for me!

  • Firefox display odd characters when I click an mp4 link

Up until about a month ago, I could click a link to an mp4 file and it would stream in my browser perfectly - now, I get square characters and question marks - just a bunch of giberish. These videos play perfectly in Safari, Chrome and IE.
I'm on FF 31.0 and the browser reports that Firefox is up to date. What changed with the recent updates?

This happens if the server sends the file as text/html or as text/plain.
In such a case Firefox will try to render the page instead of opening it in a media player.
This can also happen if you ever got the "Open with" dialog when you clicked such a link and have chosen to open file in Firefox.
You should never do this to avoid such an issue and you will have to remove this action in Firefox > Preferences > Applications
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions
If that wasn't possible then rename (or delete) the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all file actions.

  • Firefox in Windows. When I click on a link, Firefox will hang up with a rotating cursor. Problem goes away by moving mouse. This does not happen with IE.

Using Firefox 27.0, when I click on any link, a rotating cursor appears and continues to rotate. Moving the cursor will solve the problem. I have had this problem for several versions of Firefox, and I use auto updates.

    * On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

  • I use Go Daddy Web Mail and FireFox may be preventing me from being able to put text into the subject line when composing an email.

As the question / statement says, When in Firefox, once I've started my webmail application through Go Daddy, I can compose an entire email filling out all the required info. But, when I put the mouse over the 'Subject Line' and click, no cursor appears.
Having walked through this with Go Daddy, they are convinced that it's FireFox because we opened up their webmail with 2 other browsers and both allowed me to plug in a subject line.

  • Firefox seems to prevent me reading viewers' comments on the Telegraph newspaper ( UK) general news and comments sections

Normally, on opening an article on my Apple mac 10.4.11, disqus opens the readers' comments ( on the Daily Telegraph UK website), but recently ( since updating Firefox) only the article appears, not the readers' comments, and disqus just 'revolves' at the bottom of the page. However, the BLOGS section of the Telegraph is perfectly OK and I can read viewers' comments and add my own, using what seems to be the now functioning same disqus system.
My other browser, Safari, accesses the Telegraph's ordinary news and comments' readers' responses perfectly normally.

  • I can't get my ipod touch to slide all the way down on a docking station.  The ends the stick up on the docking station seem to prevent it from going all the way down.  What do I do?

I can't connect my ipod touch to a docking station.  The ends stick up on the docking station connection piece.  I believe that is what is preventing my ipod from sliding down all the way.  What am I doing wrong?

  • Airport Express seems to prevent iPads from connected to AppleTV via AirPlay

I posted this in the AppleTV forum before narrowing the problem down to my Airport Expresses. (iPad won't connect to AppleTV)
    Here are highlights:
Airport Extreme extended by two Airport Expresses both connected via Ethernet
Two ATV3, one wireless, the other Ethernet. AirServer running on 2008 Mac Pro
iPhone 6 and iPhone 5S can easily stream video via Airplay to any ATV
iPad Air and iPad Mini Retina don't see ATVs in AirPlay menu but do see AXP.
If AXPs are unplugged from power, AXP still shows up in AirPlay menu until iPad is either restarted or the wi-fi turned off then on.
Once the AXP "disconnects" from AirPlay menu (when AXP is powered down) all ATVs in the house show up in AirPlay menu.
    Any ideas?
Took the iPad to Genius bar and it worked fine. When at office, I see all ATVs. At home, no ATVs when AXP are live. Been dealing with this for two months!
    Thanks.

... It is very possible that you may have some form of Wi-Fi interference that has been introduced recently in the immediate area that is preventing your AX from getting a good clean signal from the AEBS.
I suggest you perform a simple site survey, using utilities like MacStumbler, iStumbler, or AirRadar to determine potential areas of interference, and then, try to either eliminate or significantly reduce them where possible.

  • I am seeing links appear inside my website that I did not create. This problem is not occurring with IE9 - just firefox. How can I prevent someone from putting these strange links in my site.

Someone is putting links inside my website - I did not create these links and do not have any idea who has put them on my index page. How can this be prevented and how can the links be removed. I have overwritten the files but that does not help. This problem does not happen with IE9 or any other browser, I only see these links when I use firefox to load my site (prevailingword.net)

    Which links do you mean?
I'm seeing nothing on the main page or are they on one of the other pages?
