First Post! Weird error after trying to rip a cd

hey all,
Here is the delema, I'm trying to get cd ripping working in k3b under gnome. In the past working with other distros, this was pretty easy, in other words it's always been compile k3b and discrepencies and boom works. But not today, I can't get it to rip from any file format. Anytime I try, it crashes and throws this error: Could not generate a backtrace as the debugger 'gbd' was no found.
WTF is gbd? BTW, I'm using gnome for the installation this program is going on. I know it's for KDE but I like it and so does the person who owns the lapy.

Verify the contents of the following subkey in your Windows2000 registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\KEY_YOUR_HOME_NAME
Your Windows 2000 registry must contain several minimum parameters, defined as registry entries inside the above subkey (See http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/win.102/b14304/registry.htm#i1006544). One of them is ORACLE_HOME, which could have been accidentally removed or changed. ORACLE_HOME must contain the home OS path to the SQL*Plus executable in your machine (For example, C:\Oracle\OraDB10g). I tried changing the name of the ORACLE_HOME registry entry in my machine and received the same exact messages you did when launching SQL*Plus.
In your OS, verify also Control Panel > System Properties > Advanced > Environment Variables > System Variables > Path, and make sure the above ORACLE_HOME's path is included in the Path variable (preferably in the starting position)

You have a 16GB iPad, but have only 2.4GB available. This is likely contributing to the issue. This amount, 15% of the iPad's storage capacity, is the minimum free space you should have. But when updating iOS, you should expect the new version to use somewhat more space than the old. I believe going to Settings > General > Usage and freeing space will help with your issue.
Another recommendation would be to use iTunes on your computer to do the update instead of over-the-air.
I believe either one of these would help you. Both would be at least as good.

Error after trying to install device software

Hey i uploaded the v4.5 system pack 2 onto my computer and that works fine. Then i tried installing the v4.5 device software half way thru it said connection was lost so i unpluged the usb. Now when i try turn on my phone it says uncaught exception java.lang.NullPointerException.
Im no computer whiz and this is my first blackberry and i have tried to follow instructions on the net but there in a language i dont follow ...

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
You may have toasted the OS on your BB. Try this first:
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
If that fixes the error, then you can retry the device OK update.
However, it the error continues, you may have to wipe out and reload your device OS with this procedure

Weird error after upgrading to Flex3 b3

I installed beta3 succesfull then i found out my serial
wasn't working anymore, so i deinstalled beta3 and installed beta2

Only it didn't work,
You can try the following:
1. Quit FB. Look in the install directory of the standalone
version of FB and locate FlexBuilder.ini.
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flex Builder 3\FlexBuilder.ini
2. Open FlexBuilder.ini in a text editor and add one line to
the top of the file:
-clean
-vmargs
-Xms128m
-Xmx512m
-XX:MaxPermSize=256m
3. Save the file and launch FB. This should fix your
problems.
Same errors
4. Quit FB. Edit the FlexBuilder.ini file again and remove
the -clean option. Save the file. You should be OK now.
5. For the projects that you see the error, you may need to
clean each of them (Project-> Clean...)
Tried Clean also between steps.

I have a problem with Apple Script. Basically I need a script to check if a font is activated and if not activate it - this is because for some weird reason everythime I restart my Mac my Futura font family get's disactivated (various typefaces of this one family)
this is what I have so far:

I got the same errors as you when trying your script, and was unable to fix the issue. However, the following script, which uses GUI Scripting, seems to work pretty well under OS X 10.8.2. You must enable access for assistive devices in the Universal Access System Preference pane.

Weird Error when trying to delete a flickr album

I tried to delete a linked flickr album created through aperture but got this error. No reaction when I click either button, I forced a quit and then tried to delete it again but the same thing happened.
What should I do to delete the album?

That's not an error message that you've posted - that's a dialog box asking you to confirm your deletion request. (Potentially 'saving you from yourself'.)
That aside, the issue is that you can't actually carry out the deletion. A stuck object like this is possibly a good reason to run some [Library First Aid|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805]...
Or... Have you done any independent album management over at Flickr? If you have, that might have broken the connection between Flickr and Aperture leading to this issue.
Or... Is your software (operating system and Aperture) fully patched?

Help!! Weird error when trying to download ipod

After saving for months, my daughter finally got an ipod almost 2 weeks ago and can't use it! After I insert the CD, the download starts and then I get the following message: Error applying transforms. Verify that the specifed transform paths are valid. C:\WINNT\Downloaded Installations\(29f66148-21cf-4c5). I am clueless when it comes to computers and have absolutely no idea what to do. I would appreciate any help

Helen, instead of using the CD just download the required software from the links below.
Install iTunes first, then the iPod Updater.
Then run the Updater (Start - Programs - iPod), and only connect her mini when it tells you to. Choose the Restore option, then follow the instructions from there to finish the process and register the iPod.
After this she should be up and running.

After an incredible support from an user I was able to install Developer Suite 10g. However when I try to perform this action suggested:
Part 2: Steps to setup Designer 10g
Time Taken: 30 minutes to 60 minutes depending on the speed of your PCâs CPU
1. Login SQL Plus as âSYSâ with password and connect string of âorcl as sysdbaâ
The software responds with the following message:

Translating from Portuguese it would be:
TNS:it was not possible to resolve this service name
In addition I simply do not know how to do the following activity in PL*SQL:
Login SQL Plus as âSYSâ with password and connect string of âorcl as sysdbaâ
I have no idea where to put the connect string because the PL*SQL does not have any such option when logging in (Windows XP Professional) Please let me know how to solve this problem. Thank you very much indeed...

each oracle installation modifies the PATH variable, your PATH variable should contain something like C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1\bin and C:\oracle\product\<..DeveloperSuite..>\bin (don't know, where DevSuite is installed).
It is installed in c:\oracle\product\Oracle10gDS
It's important, what's comes first, because it determines your current ORACLE_HOME and , for example, which tnsnames.ora is used.
Very interesting and important however I cannot find ORACLE_HOME anywhere in the System Properties/Environment Variables window (both parts of it: user variables and system variables). The only thing I can find the oracle word is in the PATH variable. Its value is depicted below:

Normally there's no need to define explicitly ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID in Windows, you have to set ORACLE_SID only, if you are in the 'wrong' ORACLE_HOME (DevSuite home, not database home, for example) and you want to connect without @<connect_identifier> (for example, @phd).
What to set the ORACLE_SID if it is the software itself that sets it up and it is nowhere in the evironents variable section? I usually connect with as my username without any @<connect_identifier>. I hope the above explains a little better the current status... Thank you.

Really weird error when trying to install 7.7 on vista

i have googled this, and searched this and nothing seems to come up. i get an error that says
"error writing to file: C:\program files\common files\apple\mobile device\support\etc\zoneinfor\europe\amsterdam"
im downloading itunes straight from apple. so i dont know what this europe business is. also, ive done the whole, delete temp files, run as admin, turn off norton etc.
what is the deal?

I had same problem when trying to upgrade 7.2.
I first used Software Update which downloaded three pkgs.
AppleMobileDeviceSupport
iTunesAccess
iTunesX.
Running ItunesX gave same error as you.
What I then tried was to download from Apple iTunes downloads directly:-

Running iTunes 7.3.mpkg installed all three modules, and ITunes 7.3.0 runs OK.
However with 7.3.1 now out the same problem exists.
So I will try the direct download again.

6500WL - No connection Error - After trying to scan

Today I installed a new HP 6500WL
I did the following things:
. Plugged it to the network (wired)
. Configured Static IP.
. Checked everything from the internal webserver.
. Fax test
. Print test.
. Scan test (from remote pc)
When I try to do a scan directly from the printer using the scan now button I must chose to which PC. I select the PC and the click Ok. The scanner says scanning. After a few seconds I get the error "No connection" and the scan fails.
Then I try again to do the scan and then another error occurs "No scan options".
It seems that after the "No connection" error the Scan Opction (Scan - DOC, Scan, JPEG, Email-JPEG) are deleted from the printer.
Using the solution center I can add those options again to the front panel but I still can't scan from the printer.
I'm running Windows XP Home with the drivers provided in the CD.
I checked firewall logs if there were any blocked actions but there weren't.

Let's set a static IP address in this way
- Print a Network Config Page from the front of the printer. Note the printer's IP address.
- Type that IP address into a browser to reveal the printer's internal settings.
- Choose the Networking tab, then Wireless along the left side, then the IPv4 tab.
- On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address). If you do not know this, enter the current IP address.
- Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
- Leave the gateway and DNS blank. Click 'Apply'
Now, shut down the router and printer, start the router, wait, then start the printer.
After this you may need to redo 'Add a Printer' using the new IP address.

NMI: Parity Check Error after trying to use iPod with Songbird

Hi, after installing Songbird and iPod extension, I plugged my video iPod in and got this error: http://onthebrightside.net/NMI_error/index.html. Fortunately, nothing serious happened neither to the computer, OS or iPod, but since then, I haven't dared to try it again. This happened after I was forced to repair my Windows XP SP 2, found out that iTunes (as well as many other applications, including Quicktime) don't work anymore, but can't be reinstalled either (tricky and well-known problem with both Apple applications, which I so far haven't succeeded to resolve) and decided to use Songbird instead of iTunes. I think trigger to the OS breakdown which forced me to repair it was that I started to use Freecom USB Mobile Drive two days ago; after a restart, the system recognized this drive as a primary master (and hence was trying to boot from it) and ceased to recognize the internal drive completely. Does anyone have some clue what all this might mean and how I can make sure that I won't get the NMI Parity Check Error again?

Fresh install of Exchange 2013. 500 Internal error after trying to login via ECP

Hi folks,In the process of migrating someone from their onsite infrastructure to Cloud ( local city's datacentre). They currently have AD/File+ Print (2008R2) with Exchange on same VM (yeah I know and I am fixing this with new move) and Terminal Server (2008R2).Cloud move will have Server 2012 R2 AD/F+P, Exchange 2013 SP1 on Server 2012 R2 and RDS on Server 2012 R2 VM's. Have setup VPN between the onsite infrastructure and Cloud VM's. AD/DC are in sync. Exchange has been installed with both mailbox and CAS roles after doing Schema & Domain prep and Domain updates. Exchange server and AD/DC in Cloud are joined to onsite infrastructure domain. Exchange on cloud is using cloud AD/DC's DNS.
Cloud AD/DNS can ping onsite AD/PDC fine. Cloud Exchange can ping onsite TS fine but it cannot ping onsite AD/DNS. This is my 2nd issue. Onsite AD/PDC...
