First search in ITunes store slow; subsequent searches okay

The first time I do a search or click a link in the ITunes store, it takes apx. 7-10 minutes of "Accessing ITunes Store" to respond. Once I finally get the item, I can then do other searches in a couple of seconds. Downloads are okay. But when I log out of the software and re-enter, the same thing occurs - a super slow first search. What could be causing this?

I am having much the same issue. Itunes store for appleTV movie rentals are incredibly slow. 16% download of an HD movie in an hour, unacceptable. I switched from 2.4ghz to 5ghz Nband wireless, and then directly wired my AppleTV and still the same issue.

  • ITunes Store SLOW to load

I've tried searching the forums and online before posting this question, but the iTunes Store is extremely slow loading. Everything with the library works fine, but the store "progress" bar paints about 50% with "Accessing iTunes Store" and then several minutes later, pictures and text start appearing (if at all) with improper placement.
Any thoughts? All software is up-to-date Thanks in advance.

Yes, that's a good point. On my MBP, everything works just fine, so it's not an internet connectivity issue. Both machines are running the same anti-virus/firewall software with the same settings. The MBP is wireless via Time Capsule, whereas the iMac is hardwired to TC. The only difference is the entire library is on the iMac and AppleTV pulls from it for both audio & photos.
But these are all "library" issues, which are unaffected. It's only the "store" and the rendering of the pages within it. I tried the parental settings trick to disable iTunes Store & iTunes U - sped right up on display. But as soon as I changed settings so I could actually access content? Slowed right down...
    Any other thoughts??
    Thanks

  • ITunes Store slow down

    Hello everyone,
For about the past week the iTunes store has been very, very slow, sometimes taking five minutes to load a search query. I have not noticed slowdown with my wireless network––that is running as fast as ever––but the iTunes slowdown continues to persist. I do not want to buy songs and risk waiting hours and hours to download.
My version of iTunes is 7.0.2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    benlen

Please pardon me if the answer is right in front of my face on the screen.
When there appears to be a widespread, lots-of-people-posting issue (like a persistent slowdown of the iTunes Store or iTunes Search capability), is there a place to look around here for some sort of official Apple response?
Even Earthlink eventually posts a response when they're having a regional or system-wide problem ... and I pretty much hate their not-in-North-America customer service/support. Unless heck freezes over and I can get the gun-chewing, Jolt Cola-drinking computer guy in New Jersey who KNOWS what I'm talking about and doesn't work from a script!
So, does Apple eventually tally up a bunch of complaints/concerns and, at some point, decide to provide an explanation? Or do we just wade through a boatload of Apple Discussions posts about essentially the same thing, hoping to accidently stumble across an answer?
Sorry if I sound cranky. It may just be that my own ignorance is decidely NOT bliss.

  • ITunes Store Slow

In the past week I have noticed that the iTunes music store has been moving slowly, it takes over 45 seconds for a song to preview (often needing to buffer in the middle of the 30 second preview, and navigating from page to page takes quite a while. Today, I tried downloading a song (3.7 megs), and it took 20 minutes, and please don't say its my internet connection (at home I have 16/1 and at work it's 45/45, both are painfully slow). I have seen other posts on the store being slow, so this obviously is an issue that is affecting other users; Apple needs to resolve this soon.
If it helps I am using iTunes 7.0.1 on a PB G4, and a PowerMac G5

Please pardon me if the answer is right in front of my face on the screen.

  • ITunes Store slow on iPad

I am having a great deal of trouble with the iTunes Store (Music, Films, etc) on my iPad 3.
The iTunes Store App appears to be running really slow, with either nothing displaying at all, or only some items appearing after a long wait.
The issue affects all the tabs (Music, Films, TV, etc), in fact just changing tabs can take minutes, with little results shown if at all.
I can see a spinning 'in progress' icon in the status bar at the top of the iPad screen next to the WiFi icon, it just runs and runs.
I have quit the App, done a hard reboot on the iPad, it makes no difference at all.  It may have started after the 5.1.1 update but I can't confirm that as this is the first time I have been in the iTunes Store on the iPad for a few days.
There are no speed issues with the App Store or other internet based apps, they are all operating normally.
I am also on a 30mbps cable connection and I know it is not an internet speed issue.
Maybe there is an issue at the iTunes Store end, is anyone else seeing a problem?

I have the same problem on my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen 64 gig iPads! That can't be a coincidence, I reset network settings on the iPad, reset the airport extreme, renewed the ip on the cable modem, at one point I did a hard reset on the iPads, I made sure the program was closed completely and reopened it, all that but not nessasarly in that order,  and as others stated everything else works good, only the iTunes app is painfully slow. I'm running a 100 meg Internet connection and pretty much maxing out the iPad on upload and down load speeds as per speedtest.net app. And all this occurred for me soon after the 5.1.1 update release. The 1st gen 64 gig iPad I have has not had the update yet and iTunes has the same issue running 5.1!

  • First podcast in iTunes store

Hi, I submitted my first podcast to the iTunes Music Store yesterday. I have the podcast on my .Mac homepage and submitted it through iWeb. I had two podcasts on the website, but only wanted to submit one episode, since they were on different topics, and were different files.
When I saw the podcast in the store, both of the podcast episodes were there. I went back and deleted the one that I didn't want published from the homepage. Now it seems to be working properly, but I'd like to know how to select which files actually get submitted, since I'd like to keep some podcasts just as examples on my homepage, while there are other episodes which I want to have available on iTunes.
One more question - yesterday, the iTunes listing had a link to my homepage, and today it does not. What's the reason for that? Does it have anything to do with me deleting one of the files?
Thanks for any help. As you can tell from my questions, I'm new to this.

It normally takes 12 to 36 hours for your new episode to show up on your iTunes store page.  But as you already mentioned - it will be available to anyone that is already subscribed as soon as it is released.
So at this point there is nothing you can do and nothing that is wrong - you just need to wait 12 to 36 hours for it to show up on your iTunes store page.

  • HT1420 I downloaded my first video from iTunes store. when I went to play it, iTunes asked me to authorize the computer. It is already authorized! Now it shows 2 computers authorized when I am only using one computer for my iTunes music and videos. ???

I downloaded my first purchased movie from the iTunes store. When I tried to play it., I was asked to authorize the computer. I had already authorized the computer to play music, so I thought this was the only authorization I needed. i went ahead and authorized my computer, Now it shows that I have 2 authorized computers! I don't understand. Shouldn't one authorization be enough?

    Hmm,
This is not a big problem as you can have up to five authorised devices.
However, if this is a problem you can go to Store, View my Account,
    Deauthorize All
Then you will have to authorize your computer again.
Hopefully the number will stay as 1.

  • Is it just me, or is the iTunes Store slowing down?

Seriously. Does anyone else notice that download speeds are getting slower? I do...

I just bought all of the season of Psych since all the HD seasons are on sale for $16 including the current season. Downloading the first episode alone which is just under 2GB i going to take 89 minutes today
Again it's Sunday though, most likely a high volume day for iTunes so slow speeds are going to happen.

  • ITunes store slow to load - Locks up Mac

Every time I go to load the Apple iTunes store on my Mac Book Pro it locks my machine up and takes forever to load preventing anything else from running. But using iTunes to play my downloaded and ripped music and movies works fine.
Updates for camera compatibility ran today but the problem reared it's ugly head over the weekend. Update for printers ran last Friday. But can't imaging that would be the problem. Ran an update for Line 6 drivers for my recording software (Reason 6.5) over the weekend. but that is self contained and runs without issue.
Running wireless N. All other Apple devices (iPhone, iPod, etc.) access the store without issue. Haven't tried loading iTunes on PC yet to see if I have the same issue. Also tried to overwrite current version with a dwonload from Apple but still same problem (and ofcourse with Lioon you can't delete iTunes...... hmf!
    Everything else runs fine.
    Any ideas?

  • ITunes Store Slow After New Update...

After downloading the new iTunes update, the iTunes store is incredibly slow! It also took away the feature of sorting the Top 100 songs by release date. I used this feature frequently to find hot new music. Can I download one of the older versions? Someone help :/

After the update iTunes is extremly SLOW. Prior to the update I was able to rent movies with a total download time of less than one hour and begin watching it in 5 minutes without problems. After the update it tells me it will take TWO DAYS to download. Even on the apple tv downloads are that slow. At this rate it would be quicker to get a blueray disk mailed to my door from netflix!!!! Apple please fix your itune store issues

  • On the ipad2, can I access itunes library without first opening the Itunes store

I commute with an IPad2 and there are times I cannot pick up an Internet connection. Is there a desktop shortct that would let me get into the Itunes Library without going through the Store, which will not open when there is not Internet connection? That way I could play songs already on the Ipad without depending on an Internet connection.

I'm a little confused by the wording of your question. You appearnto be talking about your iPad but mention the desktop and accessing your iTunes library through iTunes which sounds as if you're talking about your computer. On your iPad, you access any of your stored music that you have downloaded or synced throughout the iPod app, not the iTunes store. It doesn't require an Internet connection.

  • ITunes Store Slow to Load Over AT&T LTE

    Hello Everyone,
Is anyone having difficulty getting the iTunes Store to open on their iPhone using AT&T LTE?
Lately, I have been experiencing this problem.  When I use WiFi, it opens fine, however, if I am using LTE it takes almost 5 minutes for it to finally
    open.
    I am running ios 7.0.4 on a 64GB iPhone 5.
All other apps (including the App Store) open fine over LTE.  The problem only affects the iTunes Store.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

AT&T claims they are not throttling my data as I am no where near the data usage limit which triggers throttling.
Additionally, the App Store would show significant lag time when opening (as iTunes does) but it does not.

  • Help!  I bought my first song from itunes store.  I synced it to my lap top.  Works fine.  Than I tried to sync it with my iPod.  I got a message saying that my iPod is associated with another computer (my pc). So it would only sync it if I deleted my lib

My laptop would not sync to my iPad because the iPad is hosted on my desktop.  So it said to me to delete my library on my desktop.  I do not want to do that as I have all my music on my desktop.  I did home sharing.  But when I tried to sync my iPod to my desktop. It froze up.  I had to shut down everything to recover.  Now I do not want to fire up iTunes on my desktop as it will freeze up again.  Anyone with some ideas to fix this?
    Thanks
    JB

You can only play 720p video.
Download the 720p or standard def version.

  • Itunes Store is not loading..can't create an account.=c

I have read a lot of discussions here to resolve my issue, but I came up with the same result.. my itunes store is not loading. It was working very fine before but now, it really doesn't load. I want to make my newest and first account in itunes store, but it says, "Itunes Store maybe busy. Please check your internet connection".. I have been experiencing this for 1 week now.

  • Apple TV iTunes super slow downloads

I've had my Apple TV for a couple years.  Never had a single problem.  I use it to stream movies & video from the iTunes store, Netflix, Hulu, Vimeo, etc.  I have a fast broadband connection and view everything in 720p HD.  It's always worked fine.  Instant rentals have been just that... instant.
Just this week, downloads from the iTunes store slowed to a crawl, as if I had gone back to a dial up connection.  3 1/2 hrs. to download a 40 min. show.
I restarted ATV several times.  Nothing.  I restarted my DSL modem and Airport Extreme.  I checked for firmware updates for the AE.  All up to date.  All in good working order.  No network speed problems on any of our Macs or devices in the house.  I downloaded content from Netflix, Hulu, etc. via ATV to check if it was a network problem.  Netflix and Hulu stream fine on the ATV, just as they have in the past.  Only iTunes content is giving me this problem.
Anyone else have this problem?  Anyone have a solution?

Netflix adapts to the connection so that wouldn't be a good way to judge.
If you haven't, check your actual speed (www.speedtest.net)
Try to rule out interference, if on wifi, by using istumbler.net
