[Fixed]alsa not working

My sound is working, but I'm only able to use one applications that plays music instead of multiple. I can play sound with amarok, but not able to listen to youtube with Firefox. My alsa is simply not working. I don't have sound in sauerbraten (though I have libsdl_image and libsd_mixer). As you can see the name of the Linux kernel module is snd_hda_intel.

This is my /etc/modprobe.d/sound file, modified by running alsaconf:

As you can see I have alsa and I changed my DAEMONS and MODULES array in my /etc/rc.conf file:
I've obtainted alsa with pacman.

Need to get rid of bar across top saying plug-ins are not up-to-date. The "fix" posted for Windows does not work on my Mac. When I try for updates, none seem to install. How do I really find out if the ones I have are the latest available for my system? Everything seems to work OK as is. Could it be that my Mac is PPC and that there are plug-in updates that would work in 10.4 on Intel but not on PPC, and that FireFox cannot differentiate?

Setting the Boolean pref plugins.hide_infobar_for_outdated_plugin to true on the about:config page should hide that info bar.

Sqlite3_wal_checkpoint "fix" is not working!

For the past few iTunes updates I've been getting either the ever-so-frequent error message, "sqlite3_prepare_V2...not found". The "fix" for that is quick and simple. Well with the 10.5 update, I've been getting a new error message, "sqlite3_wal_checkpoint...not found." This "fix" requires me to uninstall iTunes and other items then re-start and re-install. Well....IT'S NOT WORKING! As a matter of fact, its got worse! Not only does the error message pop up during a restart but it pops up 3 TIMES! I'm getting very tired of this and I could use a solution.
Do you think if I uninstalled the products then restart in safe mode, then re-install iTunes and the other items in safe mode, would fix the problem?

Computer running real slow. Tried Vista disk cleaning but attempts to fix error not working. How can I speed up PC?

My computer is running really really slow. I did a Microsoft help search and I see performance recommendations to do a disk cleanup and disk defrag. Neither works on my computer.
Maybe I'm not on the right track. I went to support.microsoft.com and followed several instructions to go to cmd and type in some words.

ITunes Store Crashes Windows 8.1 | QTMovieWin.dll fix did NOT work

I am running iTunes 11.1.3 on Windows 8.1 64 bit. iTunes and the iTunes Store worked prior to my upgrade to from Windows 8 to 8.1. Every time I attempt to access the iTunes Store or anything associated with it, iTunes crashes. I have tried the QTMovieWin.dll fix by thurdy, which failed to work. I have also attempted booting iTunes into safe mode, loading iTunes under another user in Windows, and have checked for third-party plug-ins. None of this has worked. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks.

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

Teamspeak 3 and PulseAudio with ALSA, not working

When I run Teamspeak 3 and connect to a server, alternatively try "Play Test Sound" in Playback section of settings, it automatically stops sound output from both MPD and MPV.
However, when I run only MPD and MPV I can lower/higher volume & mute without it effecting eachother, this brings me to a (maybe false?) conclusion that PulseAudio is working. Only not with Ts3.
In Teamspeak I've adjusted the Playback Mode to PulseAudio and have Playback Device put to Default.

Did you use Group Policy to map drive or map drive manually? Can you access the network share? Please check if the user have share permission on the network share.

Go-openoffice-dark-gtk-fix does not work

Installed and ran openoffice-dark-gtk-fix, but go-openoffice still loads with dark theme.
So, I reinstalled go-openoffice and ran go-openoffice-dark-gtk-fix, but still no results
Clearlooks theme installed, and works

Fixed Ratio not working CS5

I am trying to set my Ratio to a fixed amount for my Marqee tool. I have switched to Fixed Ratio, and I enter 8.5 hit tab, and it should come up as 8.5 in, but it does not. So I actually tried to type in after the 8.5, but when I tab over to set the next field it erases the in. I thought okay, maybe it doesn't show as inches, but it will still set my fixed ratio, and I started to draw out my square. Nope I can make it any size it did not set the ratio. I can not figure out how to get it to read inches automically, or inches at all. Can someone help?

In adobe Captivate 7 i get error 16. I did all suggested fixes and not working.

I did everything the support asked and i still get the issues. I cant run the software as admins in our enviroment. I cant keep giving users admin rights to use this software.

Launching Captivate with Run as Administrator privileges is pretty much essential for correct functionality in a Windows Vista, 7, or 8 environment. I've not seen any way around this so far. If your IT boys are really clever they may be able to rig up some kind of Group Policy that gives Admin rights to Captivate only and then add Captivate authors to this group. I'm not an expert in System Administration black arts so I cannot tell you exactly how to do this. There are numerous technical posts on the Microsoft forums where people are asking how to do this and all the ones I have seen don't work in every case you may encounter.

Photo Editing, auto fix does not work for brightness and contrast or shadows and darkness editing.

I can manually move the sliders and change appearance of photos, but when I click on auto fix nothing happens anymore. It worked fine until today. Any suggestions?

I'm working on a page that's about 8000pixels long. I wanted

I want this image to stay fixed as I scrool through the text.
I went to the CSS rule definition and under background put "no
repeat" and attachment-"fixed". This should do what I want but the
image just stays on the top.
Any suggesions?

[SOLVED] ALSA not working for "default" device

If I try to use alsamixer I get a "cannot open mixer: No such file or directory" error but if I try alsamixer -c 1 to select card 1, it works but seems to be causing issues with applications that are using default. Doing lspci shows that there are two entries labeled "Audio Device:", one an "intel series 8 HD audio controller" and one an "intel haswell-ult audio controller"
Any thoughts?

Several. What are your Alsa configuration files? Did you change the default setup in any way? Do you use card 1 as default? Do you use Pulseaudio?
To change the default sound cards control for alsa only use defaults.ctl node:
$ cat ~/.asoundrc
defaults.ctl.card 1; # although the name identifier

To change the default sound card using the preferred way, use modprobe options. In your case most probably:
$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/50-alsa.conf
